We had been wanting to try Ichima for a while and one Friday night, we decided to stop by. The wait was long (50 minutes) but worth it. I was most shocked by how many vegetarian items they had on the menu! They not only had a regular avocado cut roll but they had this incredible fried spicy avocado roll? I have literally never seen that at another sushi restaurant before so I was wholly impressed. The vibe is VERY upbeat, the music is VERY loud, and the staff is VERY friendly and attentive. If you are looking for a chill and fancy place, this is not where you should go. If you are looking to have a fun time with friends, try a bunch of rolls, and be allowed to partake in raucous laughter, then this is your spot! read more

I feel awful giving this place such a low review but I rather be honest. Despite the service being absolutely wonderful, the food was not. We ordered abt 5 speciality rolls and an appetizer. Of course I ordered the Ichima roll bc you'd think it'll prob taste the best but unfortunately it tastes exactly the same as the rest. There were no OOOOMPH in flavors for any of their rolls. When I say none of them stood out, I mean we were really trying to force ourselves to finish the rolls. Almost had to rock paper scissors to see who finishes what. The one that stood out the most in a bad way was one of the salmon rolls which had relish on top. Such a weird mixture which I've never had before and will probably never have again. There's plenty parking right outside the restaurant and as you walk in it kind of has Japan feels. This is a very good sushi place. Great food and atmosphere. Worked really well for our family which included 2 kids under 8. But would've worked just as well for a date night too. I had late dinner post Halloween party. Found this place via Google plus one of the place that still open around 9:30pm. Place is interesting. It's Japanese but the music is Backstreet Boys and Huntrix Golden. Ordered Chicken teriyaki bento meal and kinda slow when they just serve drink while the place wasn't full. It came with rice, miso, salad, and I chose tempura. Chicken teriyaki was juicy and tender, but not my preferred rice. Tempura was good. Portion was standard. read more

Amazing sushi spot in SGV area, one of the places where I would actually order the nigiri - the portion and quality for the price is good! The giant scallops are actually huge. The rolls are pretty sizable as well - but I will say their prices have gone up over the years, as expected. For a loaded roll with sashimi, it's about 18 dollars and above now. The bento boxes have always been most worth in terms of value, and their beef and chicken teriyaki are both tender and juicy. The interior is also very nice, takes me back to Japan. Servers are very attentive, and I like how I can join the waitlist on yelp on busy days. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always been a loyal customer. I've never complained or caused issues--just consistently supported the business. Recently, I picked up a takeout order for my family, and unfortunately the bag tore open from the sides as I was unloading it. As you can see from the photos, a large portion of the food spilled out. I was able to salvage a few items, but we lost some of the meal, including rice, teriyaki chicken, and unagi. I called the restaurant right away hoping they would help replace the damaged items. Instead, I was told that because the bag was fine when I left, they wouldn't do anything about it. That response was really disappointing. After years of being a customer, I wasn't expecting resistance over what would have been a relatively small cost to them--probably around $30 worth of food. Whether the issue was the bag or just bad luck, this was clearly an accident, and a simple gesture of goodwill would have gone a long way. I have routinely ordered $150 of food at a time. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and short-sighted. It's frustrating when a long-standing customer relationship is overlooked over something like this. 3.5 stars Ichima is located in Pasadena and opened in 2005. It's in a plaza with ample parking and you can put your name on the Yelp waitlist. We came in on a Monday at 5pm and were seated immediately for a party of four. Our meal began with some miso soup which was okay. For rolls we ordered the spicy tuna roll ($7.50), salmon lover roll ($15.95) and the dragon roll ($16.95) which were both good. We also got a variety of nigiri and I particularly liked the salmon, the bluefin tuna, and the fatty tuna. Overall the fish was pretty fresh. They also have non-raw fish items like udon, baked rolls, and a variety of appetizers. It was fun that they sang happy birthday for those with birthdays and put on music on the speakers. read more

Their prices have gone up quite a bit over the years unfortunately, you're looking to spend around $18-$20 per item. I would really recommend their basics (nigiri, hand rolls, sushi rolls) over their chef specialty rolls. The chef specialty is always very saucy and ends up all tasting about the same. However, their salmon sashimi and hand rolls has always been great quantity and quality. Miso soup is also one free per person! read more

I came here for lunch on a Sunday not realizing that it opens at 11:30am instead of 11am. Luckily there are two benches in front of the restaurant in the shade. So we waited outside for 30 minutes before it open. My friend and I both ordered the bento box with teriyaki chicken and sashimi. All bento boxes come with either tempura or gyoza. It was good. I would not recommend ordering takeout from here. The estimated wait times shown on their ordering platform are completely unreliable. I placed an order at 5:12 pm and the website said the estimated earliest pickup time was 6:20 pm. After placing my online order, I received an email that my estimated pickup time was 6:22-6:27pm. I then went about doing errands while I let my phone charge. When I checked my phone at 6:05 pm and was getting in my car to pickup my order, I saw Ichima had texted at 5:35 saying my food was ready..! By the time I got to Ichima at 6:20, my food had been sitting out for 45 minutes. When I raised this issue with their staff, they told me that what I saw online was just an estimate...45 minutes is a pretty huge discrepancy on an estimated vs actual time. If you order online here, stay glued to your phone until pickup and be ready to pickup way in advance of the estimated time. read more

This little Japanese restaurant tucked away next to Bowlero is really cute and the food was decent. We came here on a Thursday night and it was still pretty busy, Fridays and Saturdays definitely has a wait. It was our first time, and we ordered a lot: the chirashi bowl, California rolls, a few different nigiri, hand rolls, and nabe w/ tempura. The nabe udon (hotpot with chicken) was my favorite dish. The soup was a little sweet, but so comforting for cold nights. We added on the mixed tempura which included a variety of perfectly crispy veggies (worth the upgrade!). The rolls and nigiri were good, and the chirashi was okay (there was waaay too much rice). On our way out, we saw a lot of tables with bento boxes. I came here with my daughter, a friend, and her daughter after a fun day of local tourism. This is the go-to spot for that family, so we happily obliged. We were greeted warmly and since it was kinda early on a Saturday night, we got seated right away. The ambiance is warm and the sushi bar guys will say their greetings.
