This area has be rebranded and enhanced many times over the years. It is definitely an area that caters to tourists, but locals can also find some fun in the area. The arcade has a good variety of games for younger and older kids. The Sea Life Aquarium is great relief from the summer heat, though it is quite small. There are plenty of awesome restaurants in the area as well. The price tags are steep for local visitors, but many of the attractions have coupons floating around if you know where to look. read more

So there's good and bad here - but overall A-OK - keeping in mind that three stars is good! I like that they have free parking and that it's a large garage that fits a good amount of cars, so it's hardly ever full. They have a lot to offer at the park itself, including restaurants, a train ride, museum, ferrris wheel, and shops. Per usual on I-Drive the majority of the space is uncovered, so on hot or rainy days it's not ideal. We recently ate at a restaurant and had to run through the rain to get back to our car - which isn't a big deal, but not desirable. They have a large 'grass' area that you can stand in and take photos with the wheel. Makes a great keepsake. You can also have a 'pro' photo taken and get a copy for just $5 right there too! What a fun little area to walk around. There were outdoor thing for kids to do and you can freely walk around with an alcoholic beverage. We were not able to go on any rides due to the strong lighting in the area and apparently the rides get struck often so we were ok with that. There was this cute little train buzzing around and there was this dessert booth selling dragons breath and no clue what it tasted like but all the kids were going nuts. I can't find their International Food and Drink Festival, which is what I attended today (second year as far as I can find), but other than lack of signage if you didn't look to your left as you drive into the back of free parking garage and impossible to see if you drive into the same parking garage via I Drive, it was a 5 star. There were about 29 food trucks and then about 30 additional booths, most of which were food. Also several na and alcoholic tents. Most prices were reasonable. If it isn't festival or other event time, ICON park is well worth checking out, free parking garage and a large variety of stores and restaurants, including a Yard House, Outback and hookah lounge, to name but a few. Alright, ICON Park, was fun! To start, parking is free in the parking garage. (I LOVE parking garages and wish Florida had more of them) The parking garage is TIGHT when you drive through it. You absolutely have to watch for people pulling out in front of you and turning every way (imagine I4 style driving in a parking deck). Outside of that, once we got parked, we took the stairs. There is an elevator, but we were just on the 4th floor. When you exit the parking garage, there are several pop up shops, you start to see the restaurants and the light strands. The atmosphere was fantastic. I loved it. There were plenty of options for places to eat, including different cuisines. We settled on The Yardhouse. After eating, we wandered around and saw the little shops, the grassy area, and then hit up the wheel. There was music playing everywhere, it was very clean, and I want to go back for a bit longer and explore more. read more

I've been here many times and yes it's "touristy" but what isn't in this area?!? Icon Park is a really lovely, pedestrian friendly outdoor entertainment area. It is located right on International Drive. They offer free parking in a garage that is literally right there, so it's very convenient. As far as traffic is concerned, I think it's unavoidable in this very touristy/popular area! That being said, we have always found a spot in the garage. Whenever we have gone to Icon Park I've always found It to be clean and well maintained. There is something for pretty much everyone here. The Wheel seems to be pretty popular and is supposed to be the largest observation wheel on the east coast! I personally am petrified of heights so I haven't been on it, but it looks beautiful. In addition to the famous Wheel there is The Aquarium, Madame Tussauds Orlando, there are bars, restaurants, ice cream, gift shops etc. Hubby and I went to Yard House for some beers and a bite to eat while here. Came across this place through a search on things to do in Orlando. Originally I thought this was a small shopping area as well but it's not. They have an arcade and attached to that is a large food court area. The area is really a variety of restaurants aside from the aquarium, the StarFlyer, and Madame Tusaunds. The day we went it as a bit cloudy out so the park was not crowded at all. I also think the earlier you go, the less of the crowd as the later it got there the more people were showing up. It's a very pretty area to walk around and spend a few hours. There is seating throughout the area and a little bridge and water fountain area that make for great pictures. We hung out at the arcade for about an hour. You purchase a game card with a specified value of your choosing that you then use to swipe at the games. Very similar to Dave and Busters or Chuck E Cheese. Each game spits out tickets which you can then use to redeem for prizes. I think the time we spent there playing (family time) was more valuable than the prizes they have which is like most of these arcade places. We also visited the StarFlyer and Sugar Factory while at Icon Park. I do recommend checking out the Flyer -- it was quite fun although scary at the same time due to the height and speed you're "flying" at. I cannot recommend Sugar Factor - see my review for that. We also dined at Ole Red on a different night of our stay in Orlando and I do highly recommend paying a visit here to eat. There is also an Orlando themed gift shop right around the corner from Sugar Factory that's worth checking out if you're in need of some Disney or Orlando gift items. Parking? Yes, there is lot parking as well as a large garage to choose from and parking is absolutely free. We opted to park in the parking lot area since we got there in the morning when they first opened and there was plenty available. FYI -- Restrooms in the food court area were disgusting!! The smell walking in just makes you want to hold your breath to get your business over with as fast as you possibly can. There was an attendant present that appeared to be "cleaning" but it was pretty gross. read more

There are quite a few positives about the wheel at icon park. Prices are affordable if you look for deals online or if you have a big group it might be cheaper to "buy out" the cabin. Parking is free, lines are usually minimal and service is good! They also have a bar available just before you board for drinks or snacks. The trip takes a little less than 30 minutes and it is an incredibly smooth ride. That all being said - there is really nothing to see at all from the wheel. You can see international drive, kinda see the theme parks in the distance but not really and you can see a lot of flat land. If you get a good deal and you have never done a large wheel like this before you will have fun, but if you are comparing it to London, Vegas, etc .... you will be disappointed. read more

Nothing worth a trip here. They have a huge Ferris wheel which I hear takes an hour for a round trip. They have a wax museum and sea life aquarium but the prices seem expensive and unreasonable- aimed at the tourists coming to visit. But honestly I haven't been to either of these, as I didn't feel the price was worth the visit. They do have a large parking garage with free parking which is awesome! And they have a little grass patch where you can take a nice picture in front of the icon park sign with the wheel in the background. There are a couple of restaurants there so you can eat. Sugar factory looks like fun for dessert. Ole red and tin roof have live music so there's a LITTLE bit of everything here. So excited that I was able to stay in this area and come hang out here. I literally felt like the ultimate tourist but in a great way! There were vendors, snow cones, food options and lots to do with family. I love that they had complimentary valet parking and a covered garage. The valets were very efficient and busy. There is so much more to Orlando that many people don't get to explore and icon park is one of those places. It was not overwhelmingly packed. Since it's been quite a few years since my last visit to Orlando, this cool attraction was created. Love the concept of the huge ferris wheel aka Sky Wheel (Orlando Icon Eye) just moving a little slower and the cabin a lot bigger, for standing room for at least 8 people. The building where the ride can be taken from is has a few eateries, 7D ride, wax museum and the aquarium plus an area to sit and people watch. Garbage scam place. Tries to Nickel and dime you more than the nice amusement parks close by. To ride just the Ferris wheel it was $35. The employees and signs also failed to mention there was a deal for $25 to ride both of the rides at Icon. So we paid a disgusting amount for 1 ride when there was a cheaper deal running for both. All in all go to Disney. You're going to pay the same amount here in the surplus charges. The Disney tickets are expensive but they have good customer service and aren't dishonest. Really fun areas with shopping, restaurants, and entertainment (Madame Tussauds museum, an aquarium exhibit, rides) There are also vendors with artisanal products (see photo of Arabic kiosk with the sweetest Turkish gentleman making beautiful lamps himself) They also have an open area with faux grass for kids to play in and a tiki bar to enjoy. The only reason for the 4 stars (would've done 4.5 if I could) is that it gets crowded and the security are not reminding people to wear masks or distance themselves. Icon Park is located on I Drive and is an open air entertainment center, complete with the Orlando Eye, wax museum and Sea Life exhibit, shops, kiosks, restaurants, cafes, and bars. The 'Wheel of ICON Park' (or 'Eye of Orlando') is hard to miss while traveling from Orlando down to any of the theme parks. This park has a good variety of restaurants to go to as well as a few amusement park style rides that are opened until pretty late at night. The cost is about $30 to ride around the wheel or you could do one of their deals to see Sea Life and/or Madame Tussaud's for $40-50 depending on what package you select. I haven't been able to go around the main attraction wheel yet because it was pretty busy when I went, but it is something that I want to do and will update this post accordingly! Nonetheless, the park is worth going to for a half day event with a plan for dinner or lunch. read more

This is a very touristy spot located on I-drive. It's popular for those visiting from out of town, but also for locals! There are a few great restaurants inside showcasing different cuisines. Several entertainment opportunities are available as well. The parking garage now has the first few floors as paid parking, but if you go higher up, there are still free spots. A nice alternative to a theme park. ICON park is located between Universal blvd and International Drive just a few blocks south of Sand Lake Road. Their website advertises 50+ shops, free parking, and several alternatives to visiting the local theme parks. The free parking is in the large multi-story parking garage above the 4th floor. Access is a direct walkway to all ICON park items. There is a large building on the east side that houses the Sea Life aquarium, a food court, the Wheel entrance, restrooms, and a game room. To the west of this building, there is a central open courtyard that offers a soft artificial grass area that many use to congregate, play ball or relax. There are several restaurants and shops around the courtyard. Please pay attention to the hours of operation as most of the stores open after 10 am so if you are an early riser you may want to find other things to do and visit when it opens. The shops include a coffee shop, restaurants (tapas, American fare, fish and chips), a VR shop, and gift shops. There were small trains that you could take a ride on around the complex starting right outside the large building that offers access to the aquarium and the wheel. As an added bonus, for you thrill seekers, on the northwest corner of the complex there is a flying chair ride called the Starflyer which bills itself as a ride with double-seat swings, offering views from 450 feet up. Overall, ICON park is a nice experience and a pleasant alternative to theme parks. read more

This was a very fun experience! We've seen Eye's in Seattle and Hong Kong but never went on. I have a feeling when we move here we will be here often! Sick of the amusement parks and the weather being absolutely freezing we thought we would do indoor family activities! The Eye was apart of a three experience package. Madam Tussauds, Orlando's SeaLife Aquarium, and the eye for I believe 60.00 per person (don't quote that price). It was a lovely experience first you check in than head for a family photo. They could do a bit of a better job on this section. We felt very rushed at this part. We are the suckers that buy all the bells and whistles to everything we do. This was the first time we actually denied the photo. Ask them to vie the photo because it's kind of a cool shot. Than your put into the que to load your vessel. There are options to enjoy a beverages but we weren't given any options so maybe it wasn't offered that day? After about ten minutes we were up and away. It's unfortunate they don't have blue tooth capability to listen to your own tunes while riding. They're are really cool tablets on either end that explain of Florida from The Everglades to the Panhandle! We just couldn't get over the sight and focused on one another!! I love that there is a seat because if your not that into heights sitting down keeps you from having a full on panic attack. Than off you can view a giant booklet with your photos and into a shop filled with Coca Cola momentum's! read more

It was a beautiful Saturday. We needed some time to kill since our flight wasn't until 7pm and hotel checkout was at 11am. We decided to spend the day at this outdoor enertainment area. This isn't very big, which is perfect as we were doing so much walking during the week, we weren't sure how much more our feet could take. There are 40+ restaurants to choose from -- both indoors and out and random shops including a Walgreens. Plus numerous attractions. There's a big 400-foot observation ferris wheel called "The Wheel." Each pod can hold about 10 people and it's verrry slow. It probably takes 25 minutes per revolution. I can see doing this during sunset or when there are fireworks. The Star flyer is 50 feet taller than The Wheel. It's a spinning swing that takes you all the way to the top. You also have Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, Skeletons: Museum of Osteology, Sea Life Adventure, Arcade City, 7D Adventure, and the Pearl Express Train for the little ones. This is a very touristy place just like most parks in the area. We actually enjoyed ourselves more here as compared to Universal's City Walk. read more

Nice area to take the family to just walk around and take in some of the orlando area. There was some live entertainment- a few restaurants, and a few kiosk with snacks & trinkets. Also tried "the wheel" it was a ok experience, but I do not have to do again. I feel someone should have given safety instructions. All I could think about was what if there was an emergency while 300ft in air. There was a camera inside- unsure if it was actively monitored. I also think there should have been an option for music or to mute the lady relaying facts about the area (maybe that was the point of the ride, shrugs)(I could have done without it). Had a great time in the observation wheel with my daughter and husband. We went early Sunday afternoon and got our own capsule since there were not that many people at that time of the day. It was sunny and beautiful outside. The service in the wheel was great. I would say I'd recommend this attraction. One thing though we bought a deal online, for the wheel plus a restaurant in the park complex. The deal was pretty good, however what we didn't like about the deal itself is that when we got to the restaurant, they didn't have much idea of the bundle deal, so the person in the counter had to ask their manager what was it about, eventually it was fixed, we ate but it was awkward that the restaurant didn't inform their employee about its promotions. This park is super cool. It's surrounded by shops and restaurants as well as the iconic Orlando eye ride. I like to peruse all the smaller vending carts that surround this park and enjoy watching people hang out. It also has a fun water show and is good for people watching.
