Cute little coffee shop in downtown Pasadena. This has to be the best bagel breakfast sandwich I've had from a coffee shop. The bagel was soft and fresh. The bacon was perfectly crispy. The egg was fluffy. Absolutely delish!!! Can't wait to try their pastries next time. The coffee is also really good especially their chai latte. Quiet place to work or study from as well. Highly recommend this coffee shop when in Pasadena!!!

    Jasmine Matcha

I was excited to try the jasmine matcha here since I looked this place up specifically for that drink. Service was friendly and super fast, which I appreciated. The matcha itself was good and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet without having to ask for less sugar. Personally though, it tasted a little watered down compared to other matcha spots I usually go to, so it wasn't quite a "wow, I need to come back" kind of drink for me. Overall still not bad and worth trying if you like lighter matcha flavors.

Cute coffee shop. Can get packed fast. Good service. Parking can be hard in peak time but worth it.

Was on a rush, their drip with oat milk was superb, and Hot.. for this cold morning, service was polite and knowledgeable. place was clean and tidy.. will go back...!

A nice bright coffe shop located on a business strip. This place has a nice earthy feel interior design and ample seating inside and outside for those wanting to stay and sip. The staff is nice and fast with their service. I ordered the Orange Latte which was rich, creamy, smooth, and tasty. Not too sweet, and I enjoyed every sip. I especially love the foam artwork.

Cinnamon clove latte hit the spot as we waited for Motto to whip up a massive order for the group. Only I wanted coffee and after eight other espresso stops during vacation, vote Ideology an honorable mention! Jones is by far the winner but can't fault this beautiful inviting nook in old city Pasadena for warm and attractive atmosphere, nice menu, and plenty to satisfy most.

Quick review since I was only in and out; I finally tried Ideology Coffee today & was pleasantly surprised by the coffee. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, in a quaint area of old town Pasadena. I ordered an iced hazelnut latte with soy milk, and it was 10/10. I would come back and order this again for sure. Service was okay. The barista wasn't rude but he called out my drink 3 times in a single minute while I was still trying to put my keys in my purse. I know there was a couple people in the group before me that were also waiting for drinks, but there's no need to rush me like that. I'd come back here but please don't rush people with grabbing their orders. Not everyone can move that fast or is quick on their feet.

Trying to find a place around the area just for quick afternoon pick-me-up aka caffeine doze brought me to this pleasant space Ideology offered. While some other guests enjoyed showering themselves with sunlight, I'd rather peacefully staying indoor by the window sipping my coffee and people-watching. The barista was pretty nimble, getting orders ready in seconds despite being solo player for the day. My cold brew might be too acidic for my liking but I loved the spot and ambiance. Might consider going back for their Jasmine Blue Matcha!

Came here to finally try this place since I pass this place in passing all the time when I walk my dog and to stamp it off in my Pasadena Coffee Passport. Then coffee shop looks hidden to be honest. I would have never known. As I entered, the place is spacious, bright, clean, and organized We ordered: - Bacon, Egg, and Cheese with Bacon - Iced Lavender Matcha Latte - Vanilla Latte The coffee & food were amazing! The staff is are super sweet and helpful. Definitely coming back!

I really enjoyed the coffee and food here! We paid for parking since I'm used to the old town parking situation, but then I saw that they have validated free parking! Will be taking advantage of that next time. Spacious but does get a bit loud, so maybe bring headphones. Water is easily accessible. Syrups are house made! Service was great, quick, and answered my questions.

I don't get to come often but when I do I always enjoy it. It's a quiet place that serves up great coffee prepared by friendly staff. I love how "slow" time moves here. Today I choose to sit outside in the alley. I initially chose it for the quietness, then I was delighted by the history. Please see the photo of the plaque!

I visited the Tuesday when the Eaton fire started! :O The winds were so strong that morning, I remember. The back door was constantly banging open and close. The trees outside would make noises too. Anyway the coffee shop is spacious inside. I really liked that it was quiet - good to do work or study. They had free Wi-Fi. I got a matcha latte and it was great! Parking: Don't follow Google Maps for the parking structure. Find the sign that says "THE SHOPS". When you walk out of the structure/elevator, you'll be really close to Ideology's front door. Previous reviewers and also Google Maps reviews were very helpful. Bathroom is in the way back. Credit card/Apple Pay accepted.

    Avocado Toast to go.
    Tamara H.

Nice, calm atmosphere with kind staff. Iced lavender latte was smooth and tasty without being overly fragrant. Their sign says they make their own syrups. The orange cranberry muffin was fresh. Not dry, The every once in a while whole tart cranberry was nice to get a bite of. The avocado toast was simple as it can be but the avocado was ripe and flavorful and the bread they used was good. If I ordered it again I would ask for no scallions. That's a personal preference. Staff was kind. The majority of the tables inside were occupied by people, mostly working on their laptops. There were some outdoor tables and chairs. Metered street parking available in front of the location if you're fortunate to get one. They only use a parking app though. Coins and credit cards not accepted on those parking meters. It's the Passport parking meter app.

Expect to pay $20+ for most of the dishes Ordered the Avocado Benedict ($20.95) and it consisted of 2 egg muffins, topped with a poached egg, avocado, and ham, as well as a garden salad and country fried potatoes. One of the eggs arrived destroyed so it was already runny and the other one was a little overcooked so it wasn't perfectly poached as I was expecting but it wasn't too big of a deal. The ham was a little dry and salty but the avocado was very delicious and fresh. The egg muffin was quite cold and dry so it wasn't too enjoyable. The garden salad was pretty basic and just had some greens, corn, and tomatoes so nothing too special. The potatoes arrived cold, dry and slightly crunchy. It was extremely salty so it was hard to enjoy Overall, I thought the food was a little pricey and underwhelming unfortunately.

Unfortunately, this was a really disappointing experience. The woman taking our order did not seem to know what Celiac disease or gluten even was, and became visibly annoyed when I asked basic questions about food preparation and cross contamination. When I asked about the prep station and whether gloves or utensils could be changed, she refused to ask the cooks. From what I was told, nearly everything shares the same grill. The only item that might potentially be safe would be eggs cooked in a separate pan, but without changing gloves or utensils, even that would not actually be safe for someone with Celiac disease. I ended up not eating at all. I actually left my party and waited in the car because I wanted to cry. It was embarrassing and honestly heartbreaking to feel like asking questions to protect my health was treated like an inconvenience. I completely understand not every restaurant can accommodate Celiac, but kindness, honesty, and basic understanding go a long way. I hope the staff can receive better education about food allergies and cross contamination in the future.
