First time in this location, we usually go to the one in Buena Park before this opened. Servers were attentive, especially the male server. Not sure if he was tthe manager because he wasn't wearing the all black uniform like the otherss. Had the short stack pancakes, some tasted undercooked vs super moist, a bit difficult to swallow but still good. Noticed they didn't have all the syrup flavors out, only the classic. Ihop has always been consistent. We always go to Ihop for the regular breakfast combo and omelettes. This review is to compliment Malia. She was serving tables all by herself. She wears several hats, she even answers the phone. We may have come during an off peak hour, just before it gets busier but we do think they need more help. There we several tables she was serving so it wasn't really lull time. Malia was doing her job cheerfully regardless; we just happened to observe that she was doing everything by herself except cook maybe. She was everywhere and moves fast. Shout out to Malia. The host is really slow. She has a weird way of planning how to seat the guest. For example she had us wait (party of 5) and decided to seat everyone else first because they were parties of 4. When a party of 5 fit in the table too. She had a nasty attitude and called me baby, very disrespectful and unprofessional. Manager came to help and sat us down fast. We had to wait long for our drink and food to be ordered. Overall this ihop is by far the WORST one. Slow service, none experienced workers. They need to train their staff better. 0 stars. Beware if you have a gift card: We had a IHOP gift card. On Sunday October 29, we decided to visit this Cerritos location. As we were walking in my husband called & checked verified that we had a balance of $23 & some change left. We enjoyed our visit to IHOP. As soon as we entered we had a friendly greeting from several employees. Everyone was friendly. Our server Rodolfo was great & food was good. However when it was time to pay we placed our gift card and money on the check and another worker picked it up and he walked in opposite direction of the from the front cashier register. I was only concerned that he might keep the tip & our server would not get it. So when my husband called Rodolfo over & let him know the other worker took the check he looked puzzled, soon after that the 2nd person returned and handed Rodolfo the money and the gift card. As we prepared to leave Rodolfo returns and said there was no money on the card. Utterly surprised we protested that we just checked the card, but decided to pay so as to alleviate any tension, and we did not want them to think we were trying to cheat them. As we got in the car to leave I started to call the number on the gift card. My husband notice that this was a different gift card. The last four digits of the card number was different and the PIN number was different! We realized someone switched our card with another. In no way do I think Rodolfo was involved. We are pretty sure it was the other server. My husband wanted to return to IHOP and address the issue. But I did not, and he acquiesced. When we got home I double check our previous receipt when we first used our IHOP gift card. And the last 4 digits are different from the card returned back to us for no balance. Now I wish we would have gone back to the restaurant. It is a lesson learned. I guess from now on we will have to have the establishment run the card for proof of balance as we arrive. This theft of our card and funds truly soured what otherwise could be described as a pleasant experience. We would have left a 5-star rating, had this unfortunate incident had not happened. Food & service is bad at this specific Cerritos location . I've been here three times and all three times the servers have been rude . I hope they learn to train their employees in basic customer service skills and get more employees if that's the reason they're rude all the time if Management can't afford to pay them maybe they shouldn't be open at ALL. This was the worst experience I've had so far in a restaurant. The server Alex was the most rude person I've had encountered in a restaurant. He was unfriendly, not a smile, and doesn't have the right manners and I believe he doesn't belong in this type of business or at least need to learn more about customer service. The moment he approached me on my table, he already lectured me about sitting at my spot without his knowledge and because of that reason, he said he did not see me. He said he was alone. The thing is, another server sat me down before he came into the picture & he was unapologetic. And even if f I did sit down, if no one is in front to greet you, how would you even know if there is no sign " please wait to be sitted". It was a very very small area where we are and the morning was just starting. There were 3 small groups of customers (that includes me) in a very small area where they all concentrated their customers because it was an early morning and it was impossible for anyone not to see anyone in that very small area. When he took my order, I asked about an item in my order which was always included in my past orders but apparently, he said I can only have one option. I have been ordering the same order with different IHOPs (Lakewood & Norwalk) for years. I love their steak and eggs and it comes with hash brown, eggs, & pancakes. I always skip the pancakes and replaced it with white toast. This time, he said it doesn't come with hash brown. He said it's either pancakes or hash brown. So I can't have white toast. For a customer who regularly orders that once a week with different branches of IHOP, I think I know what I want to order and what comes with it. It's either the other branches are wrong in what they put in my plate in the past or they are just nice and go along with my order because it's just a small thing. They want to please me as their customer. Besides, this was just the second time and I went to this Cerritos branch and I had no problem with my order the first time. Now, it's suddenly changed? Do you need to inform the other branches about this change or this waiter needs to be re-educated about the menu and what and how they can accommodate their customers requests? I was greatly disappointed and when I tried to give my input/suggestion after he took my order about the earlier incident, he did not even wait for me to finish and cut me short and gave his excuse and reason which I don't need to hear at that time. He need to learn how to listen and validate how their customers feel about their experience if they want them back. He doesn't need to agree with me but at least apologize for he made me feel with my experience as a customer. I was so frustrated and disappointed and left, again, without even an apology. Most people just want to have a quiet, pleasant, dining experience and that's not what I got Thai morning. I hope the management will give attention to this. read more

Incompetent. Someone literally hired their aunts and uncles to work here. The employees don't know the menu. They have no idea if they offer plant based options. Maybe it's the language barrier?. Had to ask ask for a manager (in which I was told that the manager too busy to talk to me right now lol). However, that comment just made me want to wait so that I could share my experience. Magically, the manager was available in 30 seconds. The manager apologized for the incompetence. This location needs to get it's act together. You have a prime location. Manager needs to be on the floor helping if they are short staffed. Servers need to bring silverware when visiting table first time, my food got cold waiting for a fork! My coffee cold waiting for cream and spoon! It's unfortunate to walk in and have to wait for a booster seat for 20 minutes , not get acknowledged or asked if we needed drinks , and when I call to the server to only get ignored. After waiting long enough come to find the hostess is just leaning back staring into the abyss of space. I have a mixed family but the rest of the Spanish speaking tables were getting asked if they needed anything else or getting their tables cleaned off. Maybe if I spoke more Spanish to begin? Wife and I came for breakfast. When we arrived, we were cheerfully greeted and promptly seated. Given that they have been open about only about 2 weeks, service was good. For breakfast, I expected a quicker order to delivery time. I hope that this is just part of their new staff and will improve over time. They provide plenty of inside and outside (dogs are welcome!) seating. For seniors, there is a "55+" menu which have breakfast, lunch and dinner entries. read more

I was so happy when I saw that there would be an Ihop at this location. My family and I decided to go have breakfast today. I love ihop for the Swedish crepes. The server said that they didn't have the Swedish crepes at that location. It took a long time for us to get our drinks or for the waiter to take our order. The food took a long time. Horrible experience. Tooooooo small. They bunch up tables (inside) to get servers more sections but it only makes the experience unpleasant. Spread the tables out it's too tight. We went here the first time in the grand opening, server was Alejandro, I felt like he was stressed out and confused when we added extra things he immediately cut me off when I corrected him when he was writing down our order while mentioning it, then said, "Am I talking to you or him?" Not to mention there were a couple things that had been missing, but another server came around and asked if we were waiting for another plate. Gave him a pass thinking since it was just a grand opening. Came around today and it was him again, this time we made our orders, simple straight off the menu. Same thing happened as previously mentioned, stress out, confused and this time rushing. Even messed up an order from the table next to us, kitchen fault no less or even him, missing sausages and scrambled eggs from one customer then bacon from the other. When it came around to paying, he gave us our receipt, and when he was about to come back, he gave a minute to think which one was paused for a moment, went back, and proceeded to go to the register to ring it up once he came back, we noticed that it wasn't an itemized list, and just a straight number the amount we had to pay. We believed that he had made an error, and probably ringed up the wrong receipt, and we paid for the other table while the other one paid for our table. read more
