    California Club Sandwich
    Timmy S.

Located inside the Cerritos Sheraton Hotel, this small "restaurant" offers a small menu of pedestrian fare for lunch. I attempted to come here for dinner in the past only to find out they only serve a breakfast buffet and lunch. This is wise of them as there are a dozen chain restaurants nearby that serve better food than here at more reasonable prices. Just past the main entrance in the interior of the Sheraton you'll see a small "Grille 91" sign next to a small banquet room with minimal decor. I came for lunch and, as stated on a sign at the door, seated myself. My first choice for a table was covered in salt (both table and chair) so I chose another one. I quickly noticed my place setting only had a spoon. Looking at the other tables nearby I realized the settings on each table were bizarrely missing utensils - one had only a fork, another a knife and spoon and another had nothing at all. After ordering I grabbed a fork and knife from another table. I ordered a club sandwich and iced tea. The sandwich came out within 5 minutes and it was served on ordinary toasted bread cut into four sections. The deli turkey, bacon, tomato and lettuce - even the limited amount of avocado - were fresh. I was glad they were gentle with the mayo. The fruit provided as a side (mostly melon and pineapple) was also fresh. But this triple decker sandwich was stacked too high - I couldn't take a bite. I opened my mouth so wide I thought my jaw was going to pop. I tried squishing it down as much as I could. Impossible. So I had to deconstruct it in order to eat it. I prefer to just sit, eat and enjoy a sandwich rather than struggle with it and try to figure out how to eat it like some sort of puzzle. Having to take it apart made it messy and a genuine pain in the backside to eat. It was a decent sandwich but a bit bland and certainly nothing out of the ordinary...except for the price. You'd expect to pay more at a hotel restaurant and this was no exception. Club sandwich and iced tea with standard tip was over $20. Service was friendly and attentive. There was only one guy on staff but he adequately handled the four occupied tables with ease. I won't be coming back but if I were staying at the hotel I might try the breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner would be better in all respects at any of the restaurants in the surrounding area.

    Chicken Nachos. BEST EVER!!!!

It's not ON the menu anymore, but the nachos are the friggin BOMB! LITERALLY the only reason I went here was for those. I ask for them even though they don't serve it anymore. Please bring back the nachos. They are the BEST.

We get to dine here because the hotel offered us breakfast coupon for being SPG gold member (also platinum member too). Otherwise the breakfast buffet would cost $17 per person plus tax which is pretty steep for traditional continental breakfast (scramble eggs, sausage, bacon, potato, french toasts were empty, lots of fruits, oatmeal. The waiter would come by and ask you for the drink (coffee, tea, OJ, etc).

    Yum!

Location. Location. Location. I keep coming back here because it a skip away from work and they make starbucks drinks. Granted there is an actual Starbucks but I would rather come here when it's across a small parking lot vs across the street. The worker there is friendly and for the most part they are pretty quick with service. They also sell food and pastries that are ok, nothing special.

They have a variety of different pastas on the menu, but me and my husband's go to's are the uni pasta and the mentai cream pasta. If you're a spicy food lover like me, do yourself a favor and drizzle on some of the chili oil that they have on the table. Each pasta also comes with bread and a side salad, which is a nice touch as well. I've always come here for weekend dinners and the wait hasn't been more than 10 minutes. My friend recommended the Mentai and if you're a first timer, I would too. It was rich with umami flavor from the mushroom, a little salty with texture from the roe, and just creamy enough where you didn't need something to cut through. Comes with bread and side salad. My toddler also enjoyed it, which says a lot! The service was quick. There's a wait list to check in your party on the iPad. They seat you once full party arrives. High chairs available. It's a cozy place and seems like they can accommodate all sorts of parties from 2 people to large families. Shared free parking lot with other businesses, was not difficult to find. Would definitely come back again!

I like how they implemented marble to some of their furniture like the bar table and the pillars. We got two pasta, wine, and free complimentary bread. Yeah, I know it's very carby, but the flavor profile is all there. The Rose pasta was my favorite because it had a nice touch of creaminess and savoriness. The bread that kinda looks like a Naan is fluffy and soft on to chew on. Doesn't hurt your jaw like most crispy bread. The wine was okay, I forgot the brand, but it was too dry and not bold enough for our palate. Still a good cleanse for each bite of the noodles. If you got a date night, or wanna take your family here, It's totally worth it! My girl and I had a good time vibing and munching, lol.

Everything we ordered was well-made & flavorful. My main criticism is the service on busier days. The food can take quite a while to come out. The staff is kind, but could be slightly more attentive on busier days, as it can be harder to flag them down for help. I've also ordered takeout a few times & they're more timely, usually having it ready within 30 minutes. The dining area has a nice atmosphere, clean modern look but the bathrooms don't match quite match. Being a lady, I personally prefer a cleaner bathroom however it is accessible & that's all you really need for a restaurant. Overall, I'd recommend the food, especially the bread & dipping sauce.

There is plenty of parking in their lot or on the street. We ended up talking a lot and our poor server came back often to see if we were ready for drinks or appetizers. Thank you for your patience. We ended up splitting a bottle of wine and ordered the caprese. The caprese was so fresh and even had pesto in the middle. It was a great start to dinner. We were even given rolls with butter as well. We actually chose this place because they have a cheese wheel and no one ended up ordering that. They also were very attentive and refilled our water without us asking. I got the rigatoni a las vodka with chicken, and my two other friends got the baked rigatoni and the fettuccine Alfredo. Our dishes were delicious and perfectly seasoned. We also ordered the chocolate Gelato and tiramasu for dessert. Those were a perfect night cap to our dinner and catch up session. The restaurant is deceptively big and had a whole back area, I am guessing for large parties. It was very clean and we were able to catch up without any issues. I definitely recommend coming here for the food and excellent service.

I don't blame anyone but this visit, I think we made the wrong choice. This was my son's first visit and so we decided to order two different items and split it to give him the opportunity to try at least two menu items in one visit. We ordered the Sunday Night Lasagna and the Breakfast Rosa Pizza. The food tasted delicious, but my complaint was the pizza was very spicy. I can handle spice, but this had a kick that the spiciness would hit you in the back of your throat and make you cough uncontrollably because of the spice. It was annoying, but I managed to get through it and finish my share. The other issue about the pizza is it was not cut well. I think they rushed on trying to get it served, but I could not even pull it apart. The table knife couldn't even cut through the crust. That's just poor quality control on the person prepping the item for playing and getting it sent out to the table. As for the lasagna, the meat sauce was great, but our complaint was the portion size. It was thin and small. Some lasagna's I've hade in the past would be a four to five layer thickness. This was just two layers. The bottom pasta, a little bit of meat sauce and the top layer of pasta, with a little sauce on the top and some dollops of cheese. I think my next chance I get to go back again, I should try something different and hope it's a better food experience.

It had a beautiful wall art decor towards the back where we were seated. From the dineLA menu, we ordered ceasar salad and cacio e Pepe arancini for our appetizer. For our entree, we ordered the house bolognese pasta and hot honey & prosciutto pizza. And dessert, we got tiramisu and chocolate gelato. I enjoyed the ceasar salad, although it did seem like a small portion. My husband and I shared the cacio e Pepe arancini. It was delicious. Crunchy and crispy on the outside, and nice soft texture on the inside. It pairs well with the pesto sauce provided. Although, it was a little bit too salty for our liking. The hot honey & prosciutto pizza was good. It was different than what we normally eat, so it was worth a try. It had a kick to it because if the hot honey. But our favorite of the meal was the house bolognese pasta! The texture and good of the pasta was on point! The sauce.... Exceptional! I really enjoyed the tiramisu as it is my favorite. The chocolate gelato was night and light and had bits of (I want to say) cacao nibs. Overall delicious meal! We received great service! Definitely coming back here to try their other food items!

Located in the same space at Bakers and Baristas, the restaurant was flipped into Luka in the evening hours. Dimly lit for a romantic vibe, the ambiance was warm yet approachable. What initially drew me to Luka was seeing photos of their Chicken Liver Mousse! The mousse itself is rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious! It comes on a croissant with a seasonal fruit compote (ours was blueberry). It's also so gorgeous! A dish that truly tasted as good as it looks. The next dish we had was the Grilled Oyster Mushrooms. These completely blew us away! Something about the use of agrodolce, garlic, fennel pollen, chili powder, and red harissa made the flavor so savory and complex. I've never had mushrooms prepared in this way before. I will really miss these! We also had the Brussel Sprouts with pork jus glaze, chicharron, scallion, and fresno. I really enjoyed the different textures from the ingredients, including the crunch from the chicharrons. We had to get one of their signature dishes, the Potato Situation! Crispy on the outside with potato and melted provolone on the inside, they give a very generous portion of parmigiano reggiano and chive dust on top. Such a fun dish to cut into!
