I don't rate much on Yelp, however this place inspired me to warn others. The service was horrible to begin with. To top it off they overcharged on the meal. I showed them the overcharge and was told I was wrong. I proceeded to show them the mistake in the menu and was told "I don't think you understand". I don't understand? This review is about their VALUE MEALS, not about their breakfast items. I would normally not eat at an IHOP for breakfast (if I were awake in the morning and were hungry for breakfast food). It's ironic, but IHOP's pancakes are actually mediocre compared to those at high-quality non-chain eateries such as Marsten's in Pasadena and The Griddle Cafe in Hollywood. IHOP's meat-'n'-eggs breakfasts aren't super, either. --- But off the menu, there's a "Value Menu" inside an upright plastic holder, and this is where the cost-vs-quality value is high. These meals are offered after 2pm (because the majority of diners come here for the breakfasts and thus come before 2pm daily). These value meals cost $9.49 (plus tax, of course), but they contain a good amount of food. There are 6 entree options, and with each one you get soup or salad, 2 side items, a slice of garlic bread, a little dessert, and a beverage. The entrees that I remember are tilapia, breaded chicken breast, roast turkey, chicken fried steak, and liver 'n' onions. The portion size of the entree is generally smaller than with the full-price dinner, but apparently not with the chicken fried steak, which is what I ordered, and am glad I did. --- I started with a salad with Italian dressing. It turned out to be pretty large for a starter salad. It came with 3 squeeze-packets of "light" Italian dressing, and I used all 3, which was perfect. It used "greens" instead of lettuce, and lots of croutons, so it was really good. The chicken fried steak patty was big, at least 12 oz., with just the right amount of country gravy, and it tasted good. I chose the 2 potato pancakes over the traditional mashed potatoes, but now I don't think it's the better choice, because they were small, and so the ratio of crunchy exterior to soft interior was too high. For my other side I chose corn, to get a decent vegetable in there (I don't like spinach). The piece of garlic toast wasn't big but it tasted fine. Dessert is only either pudding or ice cream, but they missed the boat on this, only having vanilla ice cream to offer, no pudding at all. But I was stuffed when I was done eating. --- It's rare to find a fill-you-up dinner anywhere that costs under $10, but you can find it here. read more

My family of 15 people came in for breakfast on a Saturday and she was so efficient! Very friendly which I can imagine be difficult when it's really busy. I'm sitting at the table right now and I've been here for 20 minutes and have had no help! I'm here with six people which honestly isn't that big of a party. I came in with 3 people and asked for water with lemon, they gave us 2 straws and no lemons. I asked again and she didn't understand and we never got it. Waitress was sweet. Food was ok. My French toast was flavorless and dry. The pancakes were also dry and cold. I will say the restaurant itself and its restroom were super clean! They actually used Clorox wipes to wipe down the tables! Instead of those dingy rags other places use! Maybe next time the food will be better. read more

Didn't like the service as soon as I walked in. Waitresses were rude and had attitude. As soon as our waitress gave us a table A RAT jumped out and ran under the booth. When we reported it to the lady she made it sound like we were crazy and made it up rather than apologize and seat us at another table. well here are the three stars chris m. feels ihop is worth. i'm not really a big breakfast person anymore these days but my dad wanted to come here for his birthday breakfast. so be it. gone are the fish tanks..if anyone remembers the decor of this ihop before it was recently remodeled. it now has a more open americana ish type theme...that aside, the food is well, it's ihop. it's a chain, they use generic ingredients, nothing fancy. the hash browns taste as though they have about a pound of butter in them. pancakes were a little on the dry side and not too warm. i ordered the garden omelette and out came rolled up eggs with vegetables just draped over the top and a few rolled inside...now usually i'm used to omelettes with the vegetables mixed in with the egg but i guess here it's a different story..or maybe it was just my dish. overall, wasn't impressed. omelettes come with 3 pancakes or toast..it would be nice to have an option of hashbrowns instead..but no..a side of hashbrowns added costs $2.59..my mom ordered 2 eggs and a side of hash browns..on the receipt it said $2.49 for the side..so i guess if you add it on it costs 10 cents more? i dunno.. our waitress however, was super friendly and attentive. read more

After a long day, my mom and i decided to get a bite to eat. We came in and immediately were greeted and sat. JUAN served us. FANTASTIC service. He put up with my tired and drawn out indesiveness with a smile and kind patience. Constantly checking up on us but not too overbearing.. just right. False advertising is always bad, but it's particularly egregious when an emailed coupon is unaccountably rejected onsite after the recipient takes the trouble to travel to the restaurant and get a seat. This is exactly what happened to me here yesterday January 16. The coupon promised a 20% discount if used by January 20, and the *only* limitation was "This offer cannot be combined with any other discount." I ate here last night and the service was horrible. I ordered one of the turkey dinners and the green beans were still raw. My server was uncooperative when I made her aware of this. When they finally took them back the cook decided to fix his mistake by burning them. I asked to speak with the manager and they told me there wasn't one. How can there be no one in charge during a time when the restaurant is full? Everytime I go to IHOP in Glendale I get good customer service, but I recently went there at midnight the other day and our server Jacob gave me the best service yet. Never again. IHOP really let me down. I'm not sure what training line cooks get for buttering toast, but they never seem to cover the whole slice to the edges. At this IHOP they can't even put a quarter sized spread of butter on a slice. Plus the toast is stale. It's very uninspired food. Me and my family came around 9am on a Sunday. It wasn't packed so we thought it would be a fast service. We told the host we're 5 adults with 2 kids who need high chairs. It was a 15 minute wait that turned into a 25 minute wait because she forgot we had kids and asked for high chairs. When we were finally sat down they only had one high chair for us so I decided to sit my son next to me. The food took longer than 30 minutes and it wasn't even as good. really hit and miss. don't let the bright blue and orange paint fool you, it's not always so cheery inside. you stand a better chance when they're not busy because during peak hours they are close to hopeless. what does not change is the annoying layout. there is no convenient waiting area so you're either blocking the entrance hallway as people try to check in at the hostess stand or you're blocking the doorway as people try to exit. the dining area feels kind of cramped. i thought they remodeled this place a few years ago but it doesn't seem that much different. i've had some good meals here, i've had some cruddy meals here. i generally just stick to the standard pancakes/eggs/sausage with toast and pray none of the cooks are hungover or on a bender. sometimes you get a nice server, sometimes they regard you like an overflowing hamper. if you order to go, check and double check your order. they are miserably undependable in that department and i have asked for my tip back when they have botched up an order they swore was complete. again, another restaurant that used to be so much better except at least now they're open 24 hours. read more
