This experience redeemed IHOP for me. Our waitress redeemed IHOP. Her, and the food. I have eschewed IHOPs for many years because my last several experiences were abysmal. But I'm visiting Hattiesburg and decided to give it another try. It was 9 am on a Sunday. We were seated immediately. Got our beverages. (Good coffee! We went through two of the little carafes they set at your table.) We ordered. Now I will admit here that we had a 40-minute wait for our food. But we weren't in a hurry. Our coffee cups were full. Our waitress was pleasant. Food arrived as ordered. (We had a few special requests). And dadgummit, the food was tasty! Annnnnd then when our check arrived, our very nice waitress had given us a pretty big discount because she felt the wait for our food was unacceptable. Well done today, IHOP! Oh goodness, we went in one Sunday night about 9: and got our food in little bits at the time . We had 5 people. But I noticed a lot of carry outs , while we sat waiting. I came in to pick up an online order, but when I got in, I saw that I had forgotten to submit it. The hostess was nice enough to ring it in and send it back, though when I saw the price was different than what was online. I explained that I would rather pay the online price, but being that the cooks had already gotten the ticket, if they could still work on the order because I was getting the same thing, I just wanted to pay online. She understood; she just needed to void the ticket, which she called Ashley for. When I tried to explain the same to Ashley, she was rude, kept cutting me off to talk, and got an attitude. We came intoday to have a quick breakfast together. We sat down and was immediately addressed by the wait staff letting us know they were ready to give us service. They brought out silverware and asked for our drink order. Within seconds she was back with our drink order. We got menus and continued to browse to decide what we wanted. She came by to check on us often. We finally ordered our food because we were so undecided. Ms. Ashley took our order and came back a few minutes in and asked if she could do anything g for us while we waited on our food. She was very nice since they were pretty busy. She brought our food out to us and it looked amazing. Even though I was busy with "work stuff", She was very patient and waited. The food tasted as amazing as it looked. Wow best Gluten Free Pancakes!! I had the griddle combo with the cinnamon roll filling with cream cheese topping, crispy bacon, hash browns, and a bowl of fruit. The piece that just completed it was the yummy coffee with the new silk oat creamer, just made this breakfast so exceptional! Hazel was quick to greet us with a smile and made sure our coffee cups were always full. She gave us great recommendations and made sure everything came out just right. This place is usually always dark and grim, and I never see a lot of customers. I think the food is decent for what it is. There is not much to say about it. It's just ihop. You get what you get. Their food is not bad, but don't expect anything high quality. The service we received was good. The waitress was nice and attentive, but we were the only customers in there at the time. She was also by herself along with one other cook. I think this place deserves a little more business. read more

Stopped here for breakfast on our way through Hattiesburg. Busy, older IHOP. Small seating area. Good senior breakfast. I was able to substitute hash browns with corned beef hash. Lots of options on your eggs and hash browns - cheese, onions, green peppers. No tap water - you will be charged 1.50 for a bottled water if you ask for water. Attentive waitress. I ordered a veggie omelet to go. When I got it home it was swimming in what I'm guessing was the juice from canned mushrooms. After draining off the lake of questionable brown liquid I assessed the state of the omelet itself. One would not have known it was an omelet unless someone told them what it was. It was a loosely knit glob. Tbh I couldn't see where the eggs were for the liquid and overabundance of yellow cheese. I'm going to assume it was cheddar. I gave it a shot though. I took one bite and immediately regretted it. It tasted like something found at the back of a bachelor's fridge from their last night out's breakfast. I'm now burping that putrid taste. Horrible customer service. This place has really gone downhill. I have tried to give them several chances but it's always something, they forget to put purchased items in the bag or they are out of ingredients and don't let you know. I made an order and not one worker said they were out of certain ingredients but they still made the order, incomplete, and told me afterwards. The manager asked how can she make it right and when I tried to order something else she said she couldn't do It because of a price difference. Since the ownership change and remodeling I think this place is actually pretty good. They still have some of the same staff. The food gets off the lone pretty quickly and most of the wait staff are really good. My daughter loves ihop which helps me get Mom to go along. I'd say this ihop is worth the trip. read more

We came in as group of 5 to dine in. Food was okay. Our coffee was cold and my steak was well done instead of medium rare. The most unsatisfying part of the experience was the service we received. Our server was overbearing, unprofessional and we felt very rushed the entire dinning experience. We received our 5 separate bills within 5 minutes of our food order being out. We were all still eating and she did not even ask us if we were ready to get the bill but just sat them now next to us on the table. After paying I was asked 3 different times to sign my customer copy of the receipt so she could take it when she still had 2 other tables still sitting and eating. It was very unprofessional and awkward. If you're looking for good service and hot food I would go to a different Ihop where you're not treated like a checkbook. read more

GREAT FOOD-GREATER SERVICE! Ask for MS. FREEDA! We are traveling to FL on the RV and needed to eat. We found this- parking was tough, we got lucky college was out so we could park nearby and walk up. We were greeted and seated promptly. With 8 of us- that's amazing! Ms. Freeda was our server and she is the best we've had in all our travels!!!! She informed us of all the new specials we hadn't heard of. She served our large party, filled with picky people- egg whites only scrambled, egg whites only fried hard, extra crunchy bacon- oh no! Someone put syrup on the 4 yr old's pancake- and she hates syrup now (since last week?!) with grace and humor. Accommodating everyone's picky demands with ease. She truly made our day and the start to our trip incredible- we won't ever forget her! From oldest to youngest- we praised her. We eat here a few times a month, normally decent food and service. Today, was a disaster and it was all at the hands of the manager on duty, plates of food sat in the window for 5 or more minutes as she fumbled her way through gathering plates for orders. 40 minutes after putting our order in (checked time with our lovely server) we finally got our omelet and scrambled eggs, which were warm in the top but cold at the bottom, but no pancakes. At the 57 minute mark, after our server had asked the manager SIX times, I got up and spoke with the manager and asked her to get us some pancakes and stop giving them to other tables, she looked me in the eyes and said that those pancakes went with those tables orders.....umm hello? the orders going out were for tables that had come into our section long after we did. Magically our pancakes were brought to the table 2 minutes after I walked away from her. Instead of apologizing for the oversight, which would have been fine, she got ugly. She was ugly with her waitress and us. There are other places in town to spend our money and time at - no one needs that kind of experience. With that being said, I think they need to be a little more selective when deciding who to make waitresses. Hygiene would be #1 when hiring someone I am putting in front of customers. If I could give it negative stars I would everyday of the week. It smelt old, musty, and looked like the ceiling had been leaking. Tried to at least see how the food was since it was under new management. Got our drinks and all tasted either flat or sour. Could understand if it was one drink but all four were disgusting. We had an appetizer which was the sampler. Pretty much wasted 20 bucks with all 4 of us throwing up what we did eat. Will NEVER eat here again most awful experience/food we have ever had here. I was charged for water. Yes, you read that right. I ordered water with my breakfast, and I was charged for it. In addition to that, we were charged twice for one glass of orange juice. I'm really disappointed by the poor level of service that we received from IHOP this morning. I've eaten here several times over the past year, and have never been scammed on the bill before. In addition to this, it took longer than normal to get our food, and the place was virtually empty. I declined knowing that the same cooks in the back with lack of proper sanitation would prepare my food again and the same waitress who was confused why I wouldn't eat the hair and that serving someone hair on there food is unacceptable would serve it to me again. I'm sure there are some good experiences at this IHOP but I will not take my chance here again for the main concern that I don't want the chance of ingesting something that I didn't order. Stopped by here on our way home from the IMPACT Conference @ Woodlawn Church in Columbia. It was one of the few restaurants open at the late hour so we gave it a shot. Some of the folks were great. The gentleman who met us at the door and helped us in, right as the rain started to pour, was wonderful. He stopped by a couple of times to check on us, even though he was not our server. Our server, on the other hand, decided that since we were about the only other group there, he didn't need to make sure we were taken care of. Our drinks went without being refilled, from empty for about 10 minutes while we were eating. Finally saw him chatting away with a person in the back dining area and not really paying attention. Our food sat on the bar for a good 2 minutes before he realized it was up and that was only because someone got his attention. Now, having been a server I can understand the boredom that comes with little to no people and rainy nights, but that is no excuse to ignore customers. I did tip him, cause again I understand, but his tip would have been better if he chose to pay just a little more attention. Literally the worst IHOP I've ever been to. It was a Saturday morning, so naturally busy and everyone was running around. The restaurant lay out is awkward and I noticed a lot of crowding in certain areas. It was all very unorganized and annoying. I ordered chicken crepes with a side of "fresh fruit" and that was the most unappetizing fruit I'd ever seen. Their iced coffee lacked flavor. My friend ordered a big steak omelette and it came without the salsa and when we asked for it, they said they were charging. Then she came back and realized that the salsa WAS supposed to come with the omelette. We had to constantly ask for ketchup and hot sauce before they finally brought it to us. When the manager came by, we tried to talk to him but he was less than helpful. It was horrible. Couldn't even enjoy my food after feeling like an inconvenience to the staff. I know I shouldn't expect much from IHOP but at least common courtesy should come in play.. read more
