I don't care what others say this place is small, germey and nasty. OMG. Even though this one is closest to me, my boyfriend and I always go to the IHOP in Union City because this one always has a line out the door. WWWHHHYYYY??? So finally one day through the week we finally get in. EEww kinda of small - close and confined. Sat at the half booth half table. ZZZZZZZZZZZ freakin fly by the window doing the waltz. Trash on the floor. My stomach is starting to turn. Had to go to the bathroom - NOT BAD...not bad at all. But back to my seat. I ordered pancakes - my favorite - but when the syrup came out - it was all sticky under the cap and on the bottle itself and now fly is flying closer. Needless to stay one would think I had a phobia....To me this place is not one of the better ones. The union city location is why better. More room and no flies. Though the foothill blvd. keeps a big thumb downs due to the food on the floor and seat and flies - our waitress was quite nice. Oh and the parking sucks big time. There is a few places in the bay area where i will order a burger at a dinner... This use to be one now i wont 1 messed up my order 3xs. 2. Someone else found a hair in theres.3 the cooks just scraped off the cheese and the chilipepers and put the cheese back.... 4 the onion rings were falling apart the second i touched them. 5 my burger after they finally fixed it was really cold..... 6 the mens bathroom does not lock.. 7. even with ice the water does not taste cold or even clean. they dont give military discount or even senior discount unless its vet day or wednesday.... can you give half star? not ever going back. food is fine. service gets zero..or even less. we went right before dinner so there was a decent 20 min wait for 2 people which is understandable. when they sat us down we were sharing a six person table with another couple. I wasn't ok with it but given the dinner rush I let it be. they take our orders and in 30mins food arrives....waitress didn't ask us for refills and I had put my empty glass at end of table so she could see it but totally ignored even after walking by 3 times. we asked for our refills and she goes I have to make more iced coffee for you so I said ok not a problem..comes back 20 mins later after I finished dinner and refills my current glass while on the table with something I didn't order, spills it all over the place, and than goes well it doesnt matter your already ready to leave. wife never got her refill read more

If you're looking for some place to eat when most everything else is closed, this IHOP will do you good, but it is certainly nothing to write home about. I will admit that the food was better - that being, clearly freshly made - than I expected, certainly better than anything I've ever partaken of at a Denny's. Our waitress didn't seem to know the menu, and was a bit on the slow side in serving us, but given it was after 10pm on a Saturday I was just glad she was friendly. My breakfast-for-dinner was tasty and dirt cheap, and the omelet my friend's mother had was gigantic, and still pretty inexpensive. The service kept getting from bad to worse. The first time I ate at IHOP in Hayward the food and the service were all right. The second time I went there, I was treated to something I had not ordered - a hair in my omelette. Yuck!!!! The third I went there, I was pretty much ignored - I tried getting the server's attention several times but to no avail. Finally another customer felt sorry for me and got the attention of the waitress. I have come tithe conclusion that this is not the place for me to eat. The "family" type restaurants do not like the single diner because the tab does not add up very much. Weekday morning got a seat in 5 minutes, this is a "tiny" location in a classic Ihop building on Foothill, came here to check it out, its crowded, parking is kinda weird because all parking is at an angle, maybe it makes this place unique. Service was good, not perfect but good, I do not like pancake batter in my eggs, but hey Ihop tells you they put's it in the make eggs "fluffier" the real reason is to save Ihop money on eggs that feed their bottom line, not because it tastes any better! Breakfasts are alway prety average, coffee is watered down and tasteless, but hey it's tradition to eat at IHOP? sure I'll go back when I need to, but wont' be my first choice.... This is my favorite place to go to great food to pick. 15 to 30 minutes to get a table. They have very sweet people here. Very clean and organized. The parking is very terrible recommend to park on the street. The food was very enjoyable. Sometimes they tend to forget some items from your order which I didn't like .... but they bring it right away when I complained . As for every big restaurant you do have to wait a little before the foods done but when they are they bring the whole table their order and very nicely cooked . Not much complains about this restaurant . Much recommend to come here with Friends or family to have a good meal . Very clean as well . read more

I'm giving them a 3 because the food was O.K. The eggs were a bit undercooked after I asked they be cooked hard. My hash browns were hard and crunchy something mine are never at home. ‍... the pancakes were good but the bacon was crunchy. Too crunchy. The waiter made me wait at the door 6 minutes with no one ahead of me. The waiter came up to me 2 seconds after I sat down and asked me was I ready, I said no. Big mistake! The waiter didn't come back and check on me for 20 minutes on purpose. A male Mexican waiter. He skipped my table. I watched him and every other waitress hit the tables they thought they were getting a tip from a thousand times never coming to mine to ask was I ready. When they finally did take my order, my eggs, bacon, and has browns was served 20 minutes before my pancakes, and I was provided no utensils to eat with. So I sat there 20 minutes waiting for him to come by to tell him I didn't have utensils. He laughed it off. They never came to my table to see if I needed anything to drink or anything. There was an olde guy next to me the Mexican waitresses kept coming to check on expecting a tip. He ended up paying for my food after seeing how badly they treated me. He then told me since he paid, to leave them a tip. The waitress who had never came to check on me heard that and came around to check on me, to late. Sorry! NO TIP!! i really want to give this place 3.5 stars. It is always busy here but we were still seated very fast. they wait staff almost forgot about us once we sat down however. i order the Angus steak with hash browns and eggs. everything was good but a bit dry. my pancakes were on point. i have had the exact same meal at other IHOPs and it is a bit better at other locations. i would still come back but it is worth to note that the quality of this IHOP isnt as good as others. read more

2 stars because I enjoy their food -waited 20 minutes to get seated -we're wondering where our server is for a while - we are left waiting for another 20-25 minutes for our food and know kindly ask our server what's taking so long and she responds with an attitude "I'm not sure, I was actually on break before coming to you guys so I have no idea how long you guys have been waiting". FINALLY!!! I got to eat here at IHOP in my home town! We have come here on weekends for like EVER but forget it, you have to wait forever to get seated. This is an OLD Ihop. I remember coming here as a child when dinosaurs still grazed at Sunset High School. We go here after DJ gigs now and we have always been greeted by a smiling face and usually a great sense of humor. I try not to get the pancakes because of my diet, but I can hardly ever resist. Love the short stack, or the International Passport Breakfast with the Lingonberry Butter (OMG!). I like when they serve you hot tea and bring you the little teapot. It's ALL nostalgia. I will not come here again because the service was horrible! My friends and I waited 30 minutes to be seated and a few people who came after us got seated first. My name is Ty Love and I am speaking out about Ihop! My wife Elfreda and I have been going to this location sense we have been together, and that has been for over 20 years! I can say this much, it is super busy and as always that is a good thing. It means that people like there service and the food. We have taken our whole family there and they have loved it too! When we go there now we order a big steak omelet and harvest grain pancakes and coffee. now when we go we share a big steak omelet (it is a lot of food). The service has always been very good to us and they help everyone that comes into the restaurant with a smile as far as I can see and my wife and I are African American. My friend and I had only been to this IHOP once before. We went during the weekend so it was crowded. But this review is on my recent trip, 11/13/14. We went during the evening on a Thursday, so there were very little people there and lots of available seats which meant no waiting! Score! My friend arrived after me but the host seated me and was very friendly. The only thing was although it wasn't full, no one offered me anything to drink or service period. Waiters just kept passing me by and took other customers who came before me; so I had to flag someone down to get a drink. But this was the only thing I didn't like. When I asked a waiter why I wasn't being offered service, he acted like it was because my other party hadn't showed up. To me, that's no excuse. I'd seen servers see me not being serviced, look away and just walk right past me. I mean ususally a waiter might ask, "Can I get you anything while you wait?" or something like that, I mean that's just basic hospitality but not those folks...I don't know. I think it was just the waiters from that shift. Maybe they were just tired or something. Anyway, by the time my friend arrived, most of those waiters were gone anyway. So we recieved a new waitess who had just arrived. She was great. She allowed us to use our coupons we had had and just apply the difference to our total. Our food was done very fast and was nice and hot. Since we went during the holiday season, my friend and I both ordered the Pumpkin Chessecake pancakes with four sausage and egg combo. And let me tell ya, the pancakes were aaaamazing! They had little cheesecake bites with pumpkin spice throughout them and they were so good. They were light, fluffy and tasted great with an assortment of their syrup collection. We especially liked the butter pecan syrup mixed with the blueberry or strawberry flavored syrups , these just made the pancakes pop and tasted to die for! Sooo good!! The sausages were cooked perfectly as well. They were moist in the middle, savory, and tasted great! The hashbrowns were lightly browned and not burned at all. The eggs were scrambled well but not too over done just the way we asked. Overall, our trip to IHOP was a pleasurable one. We really enjoyed the food and the great service that we recieved. The new waiter was speedy, nice, made sure we were properly served and left happy. The host on our way out was very nice as well and we had no problems using our coupons. I highly recommend you go down to IHOP and try their limited time only, Pumpkin Cheesecake pancakes, they are very delicious and would satisfy any sweet tooth! They also have many other holiday pancake selections to choose from. I highly recommend, especially during the holiday season! :D read more

the hate for this place is so misplaced i swear. I've been coming a lot recently. Pretty much without fail, I get the steak tips dinner, the GF gets the chocolate chip pancakes meal. Every single time, i get great service, delicious(albeit greasy) food, and leave full. Small portions? Bad service? Cold food? Are you guys sure you're reviewing THIS ihop? I get the same server there pretty much every time. Maybe it's because i've tips decently in the past but i feel we get our food extremely fast, fresh, hot, and with a smile every single time here. I guess it's important to note i never come in there for breakfast, nor would i. Usually there between 3-8pm so maybe that's a factor. From my experience this is THE best ihop experience you can find in the east bay. Emeryville and Union City don't hold a candle to this cute little place. I will gladly downgrade my 5 stars if they ever prove otherwise. If I have any complaint(and it's a general one) it's that i'd love to order a beer with my steak dinner.
