Been to this location quite a few times in the 4 years I've lived in Knoxville but this is by far the worst visit. Carrie, our waitress, is awful. We were seated quickly, which was nice, then Carrie walked by roughly 4 times, even looking at us, without taking a drink order. After almost 10 minutes, she asked if anyone had...this is her section I should add and she's handling all the tables in it...8 or so tables and only 5 of them are even seated. She finally takes out drink and food order, then brings us coffee and orange juice...we ordered coffee and a sweet tea. The table next to us was served their food without silverware, we made sure to ask for silverware just in case. That table has also been given the wrong food, twice. Everything is good except the culinary faux pas of putting hollandaise sauce on a Mexican style omelet. It would have been much better with a Mexican salsa. read more

This IHOP is a great place to eat. We usually go on Wednesday evening and Wyatt is our favorite server. He gives us great service. The food is always good and served in a timly manner. We stopped here, there were only a couple of cars. Upon entering we noticed that only 2 tables were occupied and thought that we would get our food quickly. We were told however that it would be at least a 20 minute wait before we could be seated. My husband questioned the lady about why when not many were there and she said the waitress could not handle anymore tables. There was literally 2 tables occupied. It was ridiculous! read more

Given the staffing shortage this IHOP is outstanding! All the employees were extremely nice. Our server Carmen went above and beyond. The food left a little to be desired. My husband's French toast was cold and my crepes were meh. But again, the service was AMAZING. If we are traveling back through Knoxville I can't say that we won't give it another try. read more

The food was average. I had eggs and bacon. The server was really nice but flighty. She brought my uncle, Mom and grandmother the wrong thing twice. She dropped my son's food in the floor and he didn't get a replacement for 30 minutes. I asked for more water and it was 20 minutes before I got my refill. The reason I'm giving a 3 Star and not worse is because the food was good/average and even though the server seemed to be having a really bad morning she was still extremely nice. Exceptional service. Kristin was our waiter and she was attentive with all of her tables. She was quick to take our order and had great energy. She asked how our morning was going and would have friendly conversations with all of her customers. Kristin was training a server and was thorough with her explanations and would show her patiently how to take and enter orders. Kristin would constantly check on us and would provide refills without us having to ask. All IHOP's should offer this kind of service, friendliness, and attentiveness. read more

This is a good Ihop with one exception. The young blonde hostess was leaning on her elbows, playing with her hair and chewing gum when we walked in. She never said a word to us until one of the other ladies greeted us. The hostess then took us back to the table and was not real friendly. I've never had bad service here before and really enjoy it. The waitress was busy, but not too busy to make sure everything is ok with our food and service. She is friendly. The manager was walking around and helping out where he could. I appreciate a manger who is engaged in the staff / work. The place is usually clean and several staff are continually cleaning up their areas including sweeping the floors. I'm giving this restaurant a 3 SOLELY because of the the service. The food was a 5 (for the price/quality of food you'd expect from an IHOP). Unfortunately, the service was horrible. We had a new waitress and her trainer. Things started off rough when our drink order was incorrect (not horrible, but still, it's only 6 drinks). Our order came out correct, but we needed extra butter and refills and we waited over 10 minutes and neither of our waitresses came so eventually I asked another waitress who quickly helped. We only saw our waitresses at the end of the meal when they started bussing the table and brought us the check. Thought we would stop for a breakfast on the way home from vacation. Service was terrible! We were at the restaurant for an hour and 20 minutes before our food was brought to the table. I normally don't bother leaving reviews for chain restaurants due to the fact that we all know what they are and what to expect. Sometimes you run into that one particular location, employee, or service that just has to be acknowledged for being special. At this location it is the service. We have been at this location maybe four or five times. Three of the times the service was absolutely atrocious and today was the last time. There were only three tables with people at them in the whole restaurant. Our party of two was the fourth table. Our servers name was April. April was running around the restaurant like a chicken with its head cut off. April was so busy with three tables that she had to have a server that was getting off of his shift take our order. The whole ordering process was an absolute disaster. It took almost 20 minutes to get a straw. At some point it was revealed to us that the manager was doing the cooking. That was evident by the overcooked scrambled eggs, the soggy bacon that was ordered to be crispy, and the coffee that tasted like it was filtered through somebody's dirty drawers. Terrible coffee is par for the course at this location though. When I go to a restaurant I want my food prepared by a Cook and operations ran by a Manager. If the Manager would have been doing his job instead of cooking maybe April wouldn't have been loosing it serving sub par food to the customers. I guess the Manager messed up scheduling which was probably the culprit to the entire fiasco. Needless to say we won't be going back to this location anytime soon. In fact we won't be going to this location at all. They did such a great job at this one that we might not go to any IHOP locations in the future. read more

Would never go back here! We went around lunch time (after the morning rush had died down) and it still took over an hour to get our meal. When it did finally come, it wasn't even that great. Sunday, Feb 16, 2014. Not a good day for IHOPs (or for us). When the waitress bought my coffee the spoon in the cup already had food on it (and it wasn't mine). I got a new cup of coffee (I think). The pancakes were a little cooler than room temperature (probably from trying to warm the cold plate while they sat in under the heating lamp waiting for the server). When I mentioned this to the server she asked if I wanted them reheated or new ones (call me crazy but I never considered reheating pancakes once they he'd syrup on them). The over easy eggs were too easy (I draw the line at raw eggs). The eggs were cooked more (not fresh eggs) and the second time they were well done. To top it off the Assistant Manager that we mentioned this to seemed almost ambivalent. Needless to say this was a first for us at an IHOPs. Positives: The food is usually good, mainly because it consists largely of ingredients it is hard to mishandle. Negatives: 1) They need either a doorbell or a Host/ess to seat people within a minute of them passing the threshold. Instead, they simply have servers casually glance over in the middle of their service to those already seated, sometimes having people standing for up to ten minutes before someone takes it upon themselves to seat them. 2) Their serving time is long, even for cooked to order food. 3) Their servers are slightly inattentive. 4) Food quality is hit and miss. We have gotten salads with rotten bits in it, because whoever made it didn't pick through it and then rinse, as well as some toast or other wheat product too laden with 'butter' to eat without first press-blotting with a napkin or two. 5) Someone should call the Labor Board, because the management is violating the law by having employees who have already clocked out continue with menial tasks, such as rolling tableware or filling salt shakers while they wait for their rides home. 6) A couple of employees were fired for having relations in the manager's office, due to being walked in on and witnessed by several employees. I don't care what people get up to, but in this situation, we really need to tell them to, "Get a room!" I personally witnessed people leaving, one, due to a guy getting his food, while his girlfriend sat there looking stupid; and two, leaving after coming in, because nobody bothered to come seat them, or even just tell them, "Someone will seat you in a moment." read more

This place is pretty lousy. Dirty looking, and a horrible service. The food is OK. On a typical visit you will wait 15 minutes to be seated, followed by 10 minutes before you're greeted at your table. Once you order, it takes about 25 to 30 more minutes to receive your food. read more

Usually you expect to get mediocre service from IHOP decent food that fills you up and a relatively in and out experience...FAIL FAIL FAIL went in at 10pm with four kids got God Awful service, food with foreign objects in it, sour smelly fruit, cold coffee, and the pleasure of walking through the restaurant to get find out own silverware off unused tables!!!!!! Management came and tried to identify the foreign object and couldn't, remade the food Togo, did comp it and gave us 25% off, however our concerns about service and especially our silverware hunt fell on deaf ears...$65 after all discounts for mediocre food at best and non-existent service. The bad part is we drove past the one on Chapman to go here due to a prior bad experience there...guess it's Denny's or Waffle House from here on out. Oh BY THE WAY the servers that did not have time to make coffee or get silverware had plenty of time to be standing directly beside the front door SMOKING!!!!! I was a guest of a relative's that lives in Knoxville. We do not have an IHOP close to where we live, so I was looking forward to trying the advertised pancakes in the commercials. Since I have 3 boys under 13, this would also be a family friendly place to get brunch after church. We thought we would have a long wait for 7, but we were seated at separate tables next to each other within 5 minutes. From there, it went downhill! A different person other than our waitress took our drink order and it took a while to get them. Once the waitress took our order it was over 30 minutes before we got our food! I complained to the manager as I watched people that came in after us get served and leave! She didn't know what the problem was and for our trouble we did 30% off our bill. The food was OK. I got the strawberry cheesecake pancakes. My husband got the Denver Omelet Hamburger. He said he would give it about 3 out of 5 stars. The food was average and it was insane it took so long to get. I will never eat here again when I visit. And what is funny, some friends of mine on their way back from Florida stopped at that exact same one the day before! When I told her what happened to us, she mentioned that same thing happened to some people sitting at the table next to them! For that reason, I wouldn't even recommend this location to the locals because of the wait time. read more

Friendly employees is probably the only good thing about this place. Got my hash browns and they were cold and there was a hair on the plate. Dining room was very dirty, lots of trash on the floor under the tables and the tables themselves weren't very clean. Bathroom was not only completely nasty and dirty but also falling apart. The soap dispenser was falling off the wall. This store isn't in the best part of town, but from being out of state, we were unaware. We had a lovely breakfast and dinner combination our server was new , however she made up for the knowledge about the menu that she was unsure about a lot of the items with her spunky and friendly personality. This is very helpful when you go into a restaurant. The cleanliness was good. The food was very good. And if you're in the mood for really good breakfast or comfort food I would suggest going here. Call me crazy I'd rather eat breakfast at this IHOP then some yuppie yeah me breakfast place on market square downtown Knox (you know what I'm talking about). The food is usually very good, hot, tasty and large breakfast portions. I think a better breakfast value than the cracker. Alot of breakfast choices, even omelets, even a vegetarian omelet in north Knoxville! A few of the servers there are excellent, the rest well OK its IHOP not the Orangery. I love the grainy pancakes maybe they're even a little healthier than the regular pancakes. And the last time we were there the guy cleaning tables and doing gym shrugs with the bus box was quite entertaining. My experience here was extremely disappointing. It was Sunday morning. After waiting for about 10 minutes we were seated. I watched our waitress argue with the hostess because she didn't want to serve us and that she was already too busy. After awhile the hostess brought us kid's-size styrofoam cups of water and apologized. We still hardly saw the waitress. After more waiting, we'd had enough and told the hostess we were leaving. Our experiences at this IHOP always vary this is the only IHOP we ever go tone cause the food is always pretty good and its closest to us.. However the last few times we have went I had to get use to the smell of marijuana everytime our server came over to the table.
