When in the mood for breakfast or brunch we're down for our local IHOP! Once again, I had to get their Chicken Florentine Crepes and this time hubby copied me since he had a bite last time. Their hash browns "extra crispy" were perfect. The service for our waitress was always helpful and she kept checking in on us. The ambiance was pretty quiet cause we went there at 3:30. Place was clean and ready for their dinner crowd, I'm sure.

IHOP has always been one of those places full of memories for me. Growing up, it was where I'd go with family, friends, or even for a "date" back in junior high. Yeah, a date--because when you're a broke middle schooler with zero clue about romance, IHOP is basically fine dining. Besides, it's not like we had Instagram-worthy brunch spots back then. You either went to IHOP, the mall food court, or tried not to look awkward at the local hangout. Today, my wife and I went to the La Mirada location after an oil change. I didn't have super high hopes for the food, but I was hoping for decent service and that cozy, old-school diner vibe. Unfortunately, it didn't totally deliver. There was a little mix-up with our order--I asked for pancakes but got hash browns instead. They swapped it out when I mentioned it, but the servers didn't look too happy about it. I ordered the T-bone steak and eggs, asking for over-easy eggs and a medium-rare steak. But what came out was a well-done steak. You know that feeling when you're expecting a warm hug, but you get a cold shoulder? That was this steak. My wife had the spinach mushroom omelet and seemed to enjoy it, so at least one of us had a better experience. The coffee was probably the best part. Nothing fancy--just that classic diner coffee that's simple and comforting. Sometimes you miss that in a world where coffee has become all about lattes and art. Will I come back? Maybe, but mostly for the nostalgia. I might start checking reviews before picking an IHOP location next time. I usually like to go in without reading reviews, but this visit has me rethinking that. I'd give this spot a 4 out of 10. The memories are great, but the experience? Not so much.

My son wanted to come here for his birthday breakfast because he loves the cupcake pancakes! We had the best waitress ever! She I did everything to make sure that he had a wonderful birthday breakfast! Definitely one he will remember! Huge shout out to Unique! Thank you for making my baby's day special!!

Jesus was our waiter and delivered our strawberry and whipped cream waffle combo breakfast to our table. See actual entree photos from our table and their website for comparison (ATTACHED). I informed Jesus this looks different from the photo in the menu. He said nothing, returned to the kitchen, and brought us a small container of cut strawberries. As he was walking away from our table, he asked, "Are you happy now?". No apologies or anything. WOW! I informed the manager, and he gave us a discount on our bill. Thanks, Mr. Manager. He said he was going to talk with Jesus. (From reading the rest of the reviews, it appears the restaurant manager doesn't care or is even aware of these reviews. They should respond to all the reviews, both positive and negative).

We have not eaten here for awhile so this morning we decided to visit this location. Not many customer when we came. The crew seems short handed. After we got seated it took awhile to get our orders in.. suddenly the lady customer beside us yelled "my bacon is cold and taste different" go figure! so we ordered big steak omelette this steak was chopped into small pieces (should be strip) badly burnt same as the hashvrown. We also ordered french toast combo and ahain the bacon tasted differently also has rowb was burnt. Food presentation needs improvement in this location service was somewhat okay but will not return in this location. Beach blvd location maybe next time.

Ordered the spinach mushroom omelette..delicious. Fresh spinach and mushrooms, fresh chopped onions. Great service and fast. If you are 55 try the senior menu. Great prices, great food. Breakfast for lunch the best.

Asked for refill, she never come back with refill

BAD customer services! The two waitresses we encountered are rude and unfriendly. Left a good tip but will not visit here again!

Very polite and quick service. The food is good as well. Just don't bring a big party, the dining area is tiny.

A weekend brunch with friends brought me to Madre's Whittier, where the menu offered plenty of tempting options--and a few unexpected lessons about ordering seafood. I tried the Ensenada Omelet, loaded with shrimp, salmon, crab, and octopus. Now, I'm a seafood lover, but octopus and I aren't exactly close friends. I asked if it could be removed, but since the seafood mix is pre-made, the octopus had already RSVP'd to the party. The omelet was good, topped with a creamy sauce, but not something I'd order again. The crab appeared to be imitation crab, and while everything was prepared well, it just wasn't a standout for me. The real star? The strawberry pancakes. Delicious! Next time, I'd order those with a side of eggs and call it a win. I also sampled the chilaquiles, and now that's a dish I'd come back for. The Tiramisu Latte was another favorite--not overly sweet and packed with that classic tiramisu flavor I love. A special shoutout to our waitress, Annie, who was attentive, friendly, and made our brunch experience even better. My Verdict: Skip the Ensenada Omelet and build your brunch around the stars of the menu instead. The strawberry pancakes are the must-order item, the chilaquiles are a strong savory choice, and the Tiramisu Latte ties everything together. If you order wisely, Madre's delivers a brunch worth coming back for.

There is more outdoor seating on the covered patio than indoor seating. Both seating areas are nice. The lady who seated us was very friendly and pretty attentive and especially considering she wad handling a lot of other tables. Both the house eggs Benedict and house French toast were good. Was expecting crispy bacon on the benny considering the description, but the only difference from classic seemed to be the avocado. The benny egg and muffin were both collected well, especially the eggs they did a great job on those. Wife didn't like the flavor of the hollandaise sauce, but thought it was fine. She liked the French toast much better. You did not need syrup as the butter cream and chocolate sauce were plenty sweet on their own. Half serving is probably ok for one person, full was nice to share. The bathroom was clean, large, and single person--great for a pit stop before you head out! The mason jar waters were cool. Overall, nice local joint for a peaceful weekend or vacation breakfast. Definitely recommend giving them a try. Will be back sometime.

There were NO customers as we entered the restaurant, perhaps we came in rather late, an hour before closing. Nonetheless, considering there's no one inside the place, the service was aloof, distant and not attentive. As staff were going home, the two waitresses did not check on us for refill of coffee and water. When we paid the bill and generously tipped, we said, "bye!", the waitress was seating with her phone glued to her face. The food was decent. I ordered the "House full French Toast", and it is loaded with sliced strawberries and bananas, and drowned in chocolate drizzles. The brioche toasts were a tad dried and spongy but well coated with eggs. Delicious still. My other half ordered a Spanish omelette; it was good. We both got a little queasy in the tummy afterward. Considering spotty service and average food, we're not coming back. 2.5 stars.
