After we checked into our hotel, we decided to find a place for dinner. We knew that this IHOP was on University Avenue...and if we had paid attention when we pulled up to the hotel, we would have noticed it was right across the street. It took us asking the front desk clerk where it was for us to have that ding! ding! ding! moment. So...we crossed the street to have dinner. We both had breakfast for dinner. As it was still early in the evening, there were only a couple other tables that were occupied. Our server was prompt getting to us. We both started with a glass of orange juice and my husband also had coffee. He had the "bacon temptation omelette" which consists of: jack & cheddar cheese plus white cheese sauce. For his side, he had toast. I had a breakfast meal that was only available during certain times of the day. It had 2 eggs (I did fried over easy), hash browns, sausage, bacon and ham. Plus it had all you can eat pancakes although one serving of them would have been more than enough. Sure enough, I was too full to clean my plate. Everything was properly prepared, so no complaints. My husband really liked his bacon omelette---he liked it so much that he still talks about it. Hmmm...time to give the local IHOP another try. If we pass through Las Cruces again, we wouldn't hesitate to return to this IHOP. read more

If I can give this IHOP a 6 star I would. I've been to quite a few IHOPS in my life and nothing compares to this establishment. The employees are insanely nice and go above and beyond. These employees are quite better than any high end restaurants that I've been to as well. I didn't get their names, but a big shoutout to the older gentleman with a mustache and to the guy that had a 2000-guitar gaming set. The food is what it is, usually generally decent, although with the new prices, it may be pushing it. We stopped in for dinner yesterday. The food was ok, except for our hash browns, which were un-edible, hard, greasy, and dry (not sure how that can happen and so rubbery, I gave up after one bite. But... the real issue was that we ordered 2 kids' meals off the "special" themed menu, Pancake jr Combos, with the big bubble next to it with the "kids, eat free promotion." However when we got the check, they had charged us for the kid's meals and not only that they charged us adult meal prices, When we asked our waiter about it, he said the promotion wasn't for adult combos... we said we ordered 2 kids combos and he told us no the special menu was for adults. We asked him to bring it over and showed him (again by pointing, which I had also done originally when we ordered) the exact combo and the promotion bubble next to it that we had ordered. Well, he said he rang it in as the adult combo listed elsewhere on the same menu. He said he couldn't change it because the system was locked. But the manager would offer us 20% of the combo meals in question. (Not 20% in general... just for the kids/now adult combos) At almost $15.00 a combo versus the Free Kids meal we ordered, we said no to the 20% off the combos in question. He then came back and said the only thing the manager would do would be to remove one of the adult meals my husband and I have ordered... not the most expensive one, but a meal to "offset" the mistake he made and the price of 2 extra adult meals. So basically, the waiter made a mistake. Yes, this happens, but it was his mistake, and the manager should have comped those meals and given us the kid's promotion as we had ordered it. If you are a company that won't stand by your own employee's mistake and correct it... then I won't be back, ever. Food is too overpriced now for just being decent and knowing I might get charged for things I didn't order or mistakes made by the employees is too much. Oh, also, if you want the "kids eat free," make sure you mention it because otherwise, they don't automatically honor the promotion and will charge you for the kid's meals, too. Another waiter told us, they don't take it off unless you ask, because some customers don't mind paying. Scummy business practices, that I won't support. read more

My annual review of pumpkin pancake season at IHOP. It's really the only time I go. These pancakes are my absolute favorite. Kinda like gingerbread. As k for extra syrup. Makes it gooey soggy perfection! This IHOP is pretty well run for an IHOP. Some are just chaos. It shares a parking lot with a sketchy hotel and that always weirds me out. But the servers are never a disappointment. Always friendly, the food comes out pretty fast, the place is kept clean - tables don't sit forever with dirty dishes. And the COVID protection and cleanliness is much appreciated. I saw several folks pull in for curbside pickup. And while that's certainly a safe option, I like my eggs hot when I eat them. Strange upon arriving that the place was empty at a time for evening meal, especially surrounded by hotel/motels. The hash browns and bacon were over cooked and probably been around since breakfast. At least the eggs and toast were good. The hostess/server was very nice and I didn't want to give her a hard time. I felt bad for her because there were zero customers and she's not going to make a living working there. I gave her $10 and wished her well. I don't remember our server's name, but she was very personable, and friendly. She took our order, and when she bought it out, everything was there and it was all right. MILKSHAKE DISASTER so this is a place I frequent in a more "elevated" mood. Usually great service after 12 for me and my pals. Always been a good experience....until last Tuesday. For context, milkshakes only come with about half the shake in the tiny cup and the other half is in a metal cup they give you. Altogether the cup hold about half of your total shake. So me and my friend go and order TWO MILKSHAKES, not one, TWO. And when our milkshakes came out it was 2 cups with no metal cups. NO IMAGINE MY CONFUSION SEEING THIS. I immediately assumed that they would only charge us for one milkshake since clearly that's what they served. And boy did they disappoint, tried charging us for TWO WHEN THEY ONLY SERVED ONE MILKSHAKE AMOUNT OF SHAKE....not mad....just disappointed. read more

It's an IHOP, which usually would mean giving two or three stars equals a generous reviewer. But this IHOP is head and shoulders above the rest due to its excellent waitstaff. As a graduate student, I've been coming here to work on papers. The staff is attentive and helpful, especially Julian who always makes a point of saying hello, even if I'm not in his section. They are generous with refilling drinks, even when I've been there for hours. This is now my favorite study spot. (As a note, if you're going to come in for hours, tip appropriately... Most of the servers here are students, too, and they don't make much unless you tip them.) read more

Haven't been here in quite awhile. We decided to try out their burgers today! Picked the jalapeño one and the classic w bacon. Plates looked fantastic on delivery! Sorry, didn't get a picture until I'd already dug in. I added the mustard shown. Deeelicious burgers! Loaded with flavor, perfect seasoning. Cleaned our plates! Had the cupcake pancakes for the first time. They were amazing unlike anything I've ever had. They are delicious, sweet, and fluffy. Definitely recommend trying them at least once. Don't go to this location you will get rude customer service. I work for the Government, and we have to be at work by 6:30am. So for breakfast options that early in the morning, there are very few options. I tried to call in an order on or around 5:20 am the 6th of August. I was told by the rude person that answered the phone at IHOP on University, "that I was not allowed to place an order in by the phone. That I have to wait till 6am to call in an order." Now I would normally be ok with just walking in and waiting for my order, but I live in El Paso and I drive 1 hour for work. So to leave early just to wait for and order I find that a waist of my time and patience. Especially since they are open 24 hours. What is it that much of inconvenience to them to take a phone order early? But it gets better from there, when I asked the individual what is the difference between me calling in order right now, than driving and waiting there for 20 minutes, when my order could have been ready by the time I called? He couldn't answer, so then he started playing the role, "sir I can't hear you, your phone is breaking up, and hung up on me." Service was incredibly slow, which was forgivable to a degree as they seemed to be unexpectedly busy, an were training a new waiter. Everything was new, nice and clean. Military discount available. Food seems to be just like any other IHOP, service was pretty good but it's only been open for a couple of weeks, time will tell. I ordered the pot roast and was actually pleased when they asked if I wanted the senior version. I wasn't very hungry so the serving size was perfect. read more
