This review is for the service we received from Luis working the counter/register. We place a to-go order and it was taking a bit longer than expected. Luis was super friendly, offered us water and kept checking on the order while checking people out, watching out for open tables and taking people's names for seating. He was quite literally doing it all except cooking. When he brought out the to-go order, he showed everything in the bags to ensure we weren't missing any times. I normally don't bother with reviews for franchise outlets like this... they're a dime a dozen, and I've spent plenty of pocket change (dimes-plus) going to them over the years. Especially with my KIDS, who think that places like this are O-KAY (whatever). Anyhow, we were in Sacramento yesterday to visit our youngest daughter and to do the standard 'Take- Her-Out -To-Breakfast' (read: "Spend-Money-On-Me") thing. We wanted something simple, relatively quick, sit-down, and predictable....and something that she thought would be cool enough to satisfy her without costing us a Gigantic ARM and LEG (altho I'm sure that the kid would LIKE that on some sort of fancy-scmantzy breakfast that she would undoubtedly snub and Bitch About...) We went to the IHop on Bradshaw in the Rancho Cordova area. It's been about 8 months since we've been there. The manager, when we walked in the door, said "It's nice to see you again!".... Huh? So I asked him, "Again"? And he said, "Yes, I remember you". Okay -- bonus points for their awesome memory. .... It was really cool, IMHO. Even the waitress remembered us. And she also wrote our order down properly, and served us promptly, with the expected foodstuffs. So everything was As Expected, and the cheery greeting was actually pretty cool for a franchise in Sacto. I think I'll take the Kid out there next time, too. Worst experience ever. I sat with my boyfriend at our table for 45 mins without even given a up of water. And they skipped another party who came in way before us and seated 3 other party's before them so they had to complain. So, last week my family and I decided we wanted pancakes and went on over to IHOP, its one of our favorite places in the area (USUALLY). We walked in at 9:01PM.. There were 2 other parties in the entire restaurant. The Hostess/Waitress asked me how many in my party.. I told her there were 7. She rudely replies.." SEVEN!!! You're kidding right, you know we close at 10." Well it was still a whole hour from closing at this time, so I said "I'm absolutely serious, its only 9." If looks could kill I would be dead and gone, but you have one job. Customer service, if you don't want to service customers, don't work in a field that requires you to do so. There were no refills on drinks until we asked, we were the only table left in the building by 945 still with no food in front of us. My mother got cold, and asked if the air could be adjusted. She replied " Its too hot to turn it down, don't you see how much I'm moving around?" Hmmm.. OK then. Moral of this story.. My family goes to this IHOP very frequently, after this experience, I will not be eating there. There was nothing that we did as customers to get the treatment that we got out of that waitress. I'm writing this review as I'm waiting for my food. Been 45 mins and still no food! There are lines out of the door. I understand that it's breakfast time and they're like super busy. But even when they know that it's busy, why they don't get more workers to work in the kitchen? We came at 9 and right now it's 10:02. I'm hangry! We've been to several IHOP's. This one is very close to our house, but it was our first time in. This one is not a 24 hour location, which is probably one reason we have never made it in. They has great service here. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive. She was happy to accept our coupon. The food came out fast and was tasty as usual. They kinda were not as on top of the seating and bussing of tables promptly. I've worked at an IHOP in the city when I was in high school and I for one know that tables need to be immediately bussed in order to keep the cleanliness of the restaurant and keep the flow of the seating. The food was ok and my sever was ok too but that's just it , nothing special nothing horrible. She brought drinks and took orders for another party of 2 next to us before she came back to take out order with our drinks, she came back once Cus she was my friend needed a refill but did not come back to check or ask if we needed anything? She didn't come to check after the first couple bites to see if I as a guest was satisfied with the food. Maybe it's just me but those were things I made sure to do as a server. I guess that's what u expect when you come to IHOP now a days, it's just not the same. Guess the severs must not care about trying to get a good tip. Went here for breakfast on Sun. w/a friend & my daughter. Only had to wait approx. 10 - 15 mins. to be seated--not bad for a Sun. We placed our orders & food came after approx. 20 - 30 mins.--it was crowded so didn't mind the wait--the problem was w/the food when it was served. My eggs were cool & my pancakes were cold--my daughter's food was warm & my friend's food wasn't hot--but it wasn't warm either. I never send food back as some cooks get angry when food is returned & you'll wind up getting extras that you don't want in it. When the waitress asked how it was--I told her. The manager came over & removed the charge for my cold food. The waitress came back & said there was a large group on the otherside & that's why my food probably was cold--but really that's no excuse as my plate was obviously sitting on the counter for some time & it's the waitress job to serve the food when it 1st comes out & it's hot or do something about it if it doesn't come out hot in the 1st place. Also, I don't give a dam if there's a large group--I'm paying for hot food--not cold unless I'm eating a salad. I don't mind waiting for food to be served if it's crowded--as long as my food is served at the expected temp. Never going to go back here again. read more

At 12:44 the guys next to me asked the buster to get their waitress for more tea it is now 12:51 and one of the guys waiting for tea just walked in to say something. 12:54 a girl came out to ask me if I had went inside and then was seated? Check you mail for coupons!!! We got a bogo!!!! Are you in the mood for a crispy waffle or a rooty tooty fresh and fruity but don't want to pay full price? Don't throw away the mail flier next time. I pulled out 6 coupons from the mail and 4...yes 4 were by one get one free but with a purchase of drinks. Not a big deal in my book if I can get a $9 meal for $2.50. I like this IHOP because it's close to my house, let just be serious here, it's close and has friendly service. The staff that works here has been great the few times I have been. On this latest visit my wife has the waffle and I had the Danish Crape with eggs and meat stuffs. The food tasted good, was presented well and was promptly served. Went to I Hop on Bradshaw and Old Placerville road this evening for my birthday.. In the past i had only eaten breakfast but we decided that we're are going to be adventurous and eat something else. I chose the chicken fried steak with french fries and cornbread dressing and my daughter chose a philly cheesesteak. I ordered a strawberry lemonade.... it tasted watered down. Maybe it was just me. Our meal arrived my daughter took one bite of the sandwich and all she could taste was oil. I tasted a piece of her steak and i knew i was going to the restroom soon if i continued..i ate the fries.... yum... then I tasted the chicken fried steak.....horrible and the dressing was so bad i didn't even know what it was it was just a lump. The waiter asked if we needed a box after eating for about 5 min....I said no this food was disgusting you can tell this by the amount we ate. The waiter said oh i will give you 15 percent off.... the meal really should of been comped but it's ok lesson learned... we won't eat there again. read more

On way home from work at 5pm, I stopped n and ordered two meals to go (Corned Beef Hash, and Bacon combo w pancakes); and the hash and bacon tasted like they were made at least 4 hours prior. I just TRIED eat here with my family. We got sat at a table and given menus, but no drinks or anything else, and no server ever came to our table. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I started trying to flag the servers down, but they just ignored me. After waiting for a total of 17 minutes for service, we looked at each other and said "this is ridiculous", and we just left. And it wasn't like they had an excuse either, there were only 4 tables total with people at them, and at least 2 visible servers! And I mean even if they were super busy (which they weren't), someone during those 17 minutes should have at least come to our table and said "sorry, we are really busy...thank you for being patient!") Poor service and even worse food this place has fallen way below the standards that even IHOP used to have. Ordered eggs over medium. What I got was eggs that had runny whites and yolks. Pointed it out to the server who agreed that they were not over medium. That was the end of that. Explained that I don't eat under cooked eggs and I eat my hash browns with my eggs. Server said they could take them back to cook them more? Passed on that as I had already been here 25 minutes ( two other customers in the place). It was a bit of a wait but that was expected (Sunday brunch hour) we were seated and our waitress was very attentive. At first I ordered the turkey sandwich but 5 minutes later I changed my mind for an omelette. She rushed to make sure they hadn't started on the sandwich and once she came and she informed us she was able to change the order before started. Very sad restaurant. Everyone working here looks like they are very depressed. We were seated without any silverware. It took the waitress 10 minutes to acknowledge us and get our drink orders. (Still no silverware at this point). We then waited another 10 minutes for her to come back for our food order (Still no silverware). Another 15 minutes go by and our food arrives. STILL NO SILVERWARE! At this point I look around and see some wrap ups on another unused table and get up and grab 2 of them. I also look around for some ketchup and find some at another unbussed table, at this point I feel like I may as well be working here. In all honesty the food wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. I watched the the waitress grab our order and completely lay her hand on top of the pancakes to steady the plate. Took forever to get seated without many people there. No one even greeted us when we walked in. They asked if we needed a high chair or a booster seat for my son, I asked for a booster seat. We've been there a few times and we usually have a good enough meal for a diner, but the reason we come back and tip well is the customer service. Until today! We went there this afternoon. The waitress was rude. I don't know if she was in a bad mood or dealing with some issues in her life- but she was rude! The food took 35 minutes to come out even though there were only 4 tables seated and several waitresses. And to top it off both our meals were wrong. She over charged us as well and I wanted to call her manager over but my husband just wanted to leave. We barely tipped her anything because she absolutely didn't deserve one- but my husband is nice and wanted to leave her something for walking our food over from the kitchen. Then as we were leaving the two waitresses just standing by the register talking, asked my husband and I to close the doors for them. I told them "you're standing right here", meaning they can easily do it themselves and they both looked shocked they were being told something. My husband closed one of the doors because he is a nice guy but after he did they started laughing and staring at us. Super odd. My husband wanted to go back and scratch out her tip and reopen the door. Where was management? Pay attention to your workers and if they hate their jobs then find new workers. read more
