    Meatball plate
    Binh P.

Self order on the kiosk and just wait for your number to be called. It's convenient to look around the store while you wait. The meatball plate comes with mashed potatoes, berry sauce, peas, gravy, and meatballs. The peas were nice and firm so it was a good contrast to the softness of everything else. Pretty cheap meal if you like Ikea food.

Hubby & I dropped in before going to a matinee at the Golden Gate as we had some free time. We entered street level through Saluhall food court & took the up escalator to level 2 and headed into the store. On the 2d floor we realized there's a Saluhall food court extension so we exited the store. Saw there's a counter 3 window for the IKEA restaurant. Good design as you can order food from IKEA without actually stepping foot into the store. We placed an order at the touch screen kiosk - strawberry vanilla softee. A receipt was dispensed with our order #. For $1.75 each the softee was yummy. Served in a cup with a cone.

I'm rating this based on fast food. I ordered the veggie dog and the kids' Mac and cheese. It was $6.50. I may have messed up my order because I got two double veggie dogs and the Mac and cheese. I got the .25 toppings for the dog. It was filling, flavorless, and fine. The bathrooms have a code and everything is clean. It's quiet and it's a good place to just sit without the energy of downtown. I've gotten the frozen ice cream before and it is also flavorless. If you go to expect delicious food, you aren't going to get that. If you go, expecting to get a meal that is filling, not fried, not a ton of calories, and under $10, then you got everything out of your meal.

Nothing tooo spectacular about this ikea restaurant. Unlike the Mountain View / Palo Alto IKEA, the menu is very limited and is made to order. I got the $5 breakfast plate which is actually cheap and filling for SF! Be warned however, you'll wait up to 20minutes for some eggs, bacon, potatos & 'pancakes' when other locations will serve this in a cafeteria style service. I assume there isn't a self serve cafeteria section solely because of the location; I'd imagine there being tons of stolen Swedish meatballs.

Now I know why the actors in Ingmar Bergman's films look so depressed. They must've gone to IKEA for their meal breaks. I finally tried the cafe on the second floor on a quiet weekday, and while there were few customers in the store itself, the cafe was busy. It appeared to be doubling as an employee cafeteria. No problem with that except most of the tables were taken by individual diners. I decided to get what I presume to be their most popular plate, the $9.99 Swedish Meatballs. You get eight with a standard order, and while I know there are devotees of these spherical bites, I have to say they get a big meh from me. They referred to the gravy as cream sauce, but I didn't get that. The lingonberries and mashed potatoes were pretty predictable (photo: https://yelp.to/ZZhA0v4ryo). My one discovery of delight was that the peas were not mushy. I decided to get the $4.49 Caesar Salad as a side, and it came in its own container (photo: https://yelp.to/uKiwf9MIaY). For the price, it wasn't bad, though they used a Newman's Own packet for the dressing. I know IKEA's cafeteria-style food, especially the meatballs, has its fans, but I have to say I was underwhelmed. The next time I ever get a shelving unit, I'll probably go elsewhere to eat. FOOD - 3 stars...not clear what the appeal is with the meatballs...geez, I almost bought a dozen AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...it does look like an employee cafeteria...bonus points for their individual restrooms SERVICE - 2 stars...not much...and they gave me a dirty plastic fork TOTAL - 3 stars...I upgraded my rating for the restroom RELATED - Exploring western SoMa? We stopped by the food court while window shopping at this Ikea on Market St. and tried the plant balls with mashed potatoes and peas for a snack. This was my first time trying the plant balls with they were pretty good and well-seasoned. I actually think the plant balls are better than the traditional meatballs and it went well with all the sides. It reminded me of a Swedish thanksgiving dinner!

I always enjoyed IKEA growing up in Maryland. It was wonderful and sweet. I still use IKEA furniture at home...a few small pieces...Target and Bed Bath and Beyond to this day. The cafeteria at IKEA is inexpensive and fun. They offer Swedish meatballs...I got a kids meal $5...hot dogs ice cream cones...other menu items..wraps...I would go back to IKEA...really enjoy Swedish meatballs...old tradition..on Market St...here's to the future

Came by IKEAs Swedish deli to have lunch because who doesn't love their meatballs?! Their meatballs meal is a must try which comes with 8 Swedish meatballs, mashed potatoes, cream sauce, lingonberrys, side salad and a soft drink for $15.19. Food was tasty, good portions, friendly service. They now have plant based meatballs which was sold out! I even ended up buying a bag of frozen meatballs to go!

Poor customer service. They hate talking to customers but choose to talk among their own staff coworkers about non-work related topics.

They explained that the flight includes an espresso shot, espresso shot with milk, hot coffee, and iced coffee. I hadn't had a straight espresso shot before, so this wasn't for me personally just because it was so overpowering. I enjoyed the other three though. Like the majority of SF, parking is difficult to locate. I was dropped off nearby the location. There is indoor and outdoor seating; I was able to grab an empty spot late in the morning on a weekend, but I don't think seating is always readily available. It's not a huge space.

At 11 am on a Sunday they were out of their best- black sesame Kouign Amann and the Raspberry Almond Croissant, which I took care of by paying a visit to Juniper bakery (sister business) later in the day. The Mocha with the house made nut milk fell flat. It needed something. I am not a fan of syrupy coffees and appreciate the more purist approach but this one just didn't do anything for me. The chai latte which I would never order was actually the best chai latte I have ever had, it was smooth like silk. Maybe I just had the wrong coffee order. Besides that, got the hot chocolate and the coffee tasting. I was surprised there was no explanation provided with the coffee- I figured it's all Honduran but an overview of some sort would have helped. I enjoyed all the coffees in there except the latte. Will visit again, earlier in the day so they are not out of their best sellers and try a different order.

I've…read moreheard this place has one of the best katsu sando around and as a lover of Katsu, I couldn't skip it. There's some good places in SF like Cafe Okawari. But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.

Drinks: Ginger Matcha Latte: The strong matcha and spicy ginger flavor paired well with the sweetness of the Oat Milk creating a balanced flavor. Drink size was fair based on other matcha shops. Overall, a nice little tea shop to pick out a good quality matcha beverage, light Japanese style breakfast / brunch, or a sweet treat. Clean and quiet ambience inside with friendly staff.

You know, mainly fun things like beverages, snacks, or fruits, when I am delivering documents or my bank deposits. Said friend recently reciprocated by handing me a bag (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=Rmk-7xJHWs7RKbGP2U1zdQ) with a few items to take home. Having a drink in hand already, I refrigerated one of the gifted items before putting the other two there too. Watching my sugar intake these days, I waited until the next morning to start on the strawberry matcha latte, medium ice, half sweet (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=0O5eaeZuKxCM2GU2ur3cEA); this is a take on a flavor combination that is a signature one for a local boba tea company. I enjoyed this as the tea flavor was more distinct and the sweetness was dialed down. I would get this again. The other gifted items were the Hokkaido cheese tart and fresh sweet potato cheese tart (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=aVbAWdTtlPx0iEdMyWkNFg). I reheated them in my toaster oven a few days later as snacks. The cheese one was okay and didn't really stand out but the sweet potato one shines if you're a big fan of sweet potato. By appearance, I thought it was taro or ube but was pleasantly surprised. Whenever I dine in J Town, I often walk by this store that across from the former Isobune sushi spot in the mall. Now I know what they have and I will try other menu items next time. Thank you for my generous and thoughtful friend for giving my this 1st experience.
