Great breakfast burritos! I have tried the steak burrito and the chorizo burrito. Both so good! They give you a salsa on the side which is also good. I've gone about 3x and the food has been consistent. The last time I went I ordered chiles asados to go and they charged me for them which I thought was weird. I've never been charged anywhere else for them. Other than that, it's a great spot. read more

We came on a weekend evening and had no problem finding seating! We received excellent service, and our food was brought straight to our table for us! I ordered the Chili Cheese Fries not knowing how huge the portion was going to be! There was a very generous portion of fries, chili, and cheese on top. I was only able to make a small dent even with sharing it. I also tried the Onion Rings, which were very crispy. I wish there were more pieces with soft, chewy onion inside instead of the really crunchy, thin pieces. Regardless, they were good and so was the ranch! My sister enjoyed her hamburger and crispy fries. Also, not pictured is the Breakfast Burrito. I tried a little bit of it, and it was huge and really yummy. This is a solid place. Counter service diner food. A steak sandwich combo with fries and a drink is about $20 and portions can be seem as pretty large and filling which might be easy to split and share or saved for a 1.5 or 2 meals as leftovers. You can order the steak cooked to order (like a juicy medium rare) as it's a then breakfast steak styled cut, so you don't want it overcooked where it gets dry or tough and a medium rare amplifies lower grade cuts of meat to become quite delicious and easier to chew/eat. read more

Best breakfast burrito in El Segundo. Whenever I'm working at the refinery I eat there at least a couple times a week. Highly recommend the chorizo and egg with potatoes and beans. They'll even cut it in half because there is no way I can eat it all at once. The salsa served with it is amazing too. read more

Not as inexpensive as I was hoping (for a cheeseburger, an avocado cheeseburger, one order of fries, and two drinks, it was just shy of $30). Kind of dark, very basic dining area, so don't come here for ambience! All that being said, the food totally hit the spot - great diner burgers, the fries were amazing (fatter/chunkier, perfectly fried and seasoned salt), and they have Barq's root beer! Nice breakfast spot for diner type food. Made to order and very popular with the locals. It is obviously a hometown regular's eatery. Crispy Bacon, Hashbrowns and eggs were made to order. Big servings and fresh. The club sandwich and fries were just as good. They left out the middle bread as requested and the condiments were plentiful. My only regret is not getting the pancakes. The orders I saw looked great! Plenty of seating inside. Many to go orders placed as well. You order and pick up at the counter. Ketchup and other condiments are on the table. We visited El Segundo to meet friends and on the way drive home we found this place. I would not recommend this place. The service is so bad! They took way too long to take my order as one of the employees decide texting on this phone was more important. When they take your order there is no hello, their tone is as if they hate being there. They messed up my order and had to wait longer. The establishment is really gross! It's just DIRTY!! Never going back! read more

Been coming here 20+ years. We send family and friends here. We've enjoyed breakfast and burgers countless times. It is a very good value, tasty food and really nice service. French fries for one thing are about the best you're going to get anywhere nearby. The restaurant is always clean and has an open kitchen so you can see all the food preparation. It's a really nice local business and deserves a lot more love. read more

Having previously lived in EL Segundo for 7 years, Fantastic Cafe peaked my curiosity soon after moving there. Depending on the time of day I visited, there were three regular menu items that I always gravitated to. For breakfast, if I was definitely dining on-site, I liked the California omelette. It was served with hash browns and toast & jelly and never disappointed. If I was picking up something to go, their breakfast burrito was always my go-to choice. It was a 3-egg monstrosity served with hash browns, bacon, sausage & cheese. Both breakfast favorites were huge and not for the faint of heart, Neither was definitely heart friendly either. LOL For lunch time, I always got one of their awesome burgers, or the chicken breast salad. Both were solid choices and I guarantee that you won't leave hungry. read more

Service is not good. Every time I have come in unfortunately I get ignored /not acknowledged as a black woman, when there are 4 people behind the counter they just look at me until someone reluctantly takes my order. Everyone looks irritated & angry which i find crazy considering they publicize themselves as being a "Christian" establishment. Not to mention, about a year ago i came and there was a homeless man passed out on their outdoor seating sitting in a puddle of his own urine. I went inside to tell them. Absolutely horrible & unsanitary. read more

Have been going to this establishment for roughly 15 years. Always been pretty good reliable food, and sub par customer service. unfortunately within these past few years. I have noticed a steady decline each time I've gone. today especially probably being the last time. I will go to this establishment, from not a greeting or goodbye on the phone or in person. then taking a personal call while i am trying to pick up my food wasn't able to ask for my sauce before she ran away. Hash browns were undercooked "Denver" omelet with only green onion. do not foresee myself coming back. A much better option is Wendy's on Main Street and grand. read more

Today I ordered a Chili Omelette that was delicious, a big three egg omelette filled with savory Chili and melted cheese just great. Decent cafe/diner food option. Exactly what I expected no more, no less. Ordered the chicken sandwich and chili cheese fries, which were recommended. Chicken sandwich tastes homemade. If you like that, order! Chili cheese fries were a winner. My favorite flavors and style of chili cheese fries are Weinerschnitzel, Pinks or diner fries. These are solid diner fries. I'm sure I'll be back to cure that craving in the near future. I will probably leave the chicken Sando behind:). Maybe try their bacon burger next time. read more

I went to theFantastic Cafe in El Segundo. Great experience food wise and service. Liked it so much been back now multiple times. What got me the first time was the service. The cashier and a waitress helped me with suggestions. First time I had the breakfast burrito with tenders. Fantastic and big just like l like. Second time had the mamba burger ( dedicated to Kobe) with Onion rings and fried zucchini sticks. Great. But next time just one side because the burger was huge. Then I tried the chicken tenders box for lunch. Delicious with the Fantastic sauce! And my latest was the chicken melt with a side of buffalo fries! I let them know Mr.D will be back to try almost every thing! read more

$9 for a breakfast burrito. A REALLY good breakfast burrito! It was so worth it. Parking was easy since they have a lot. I got bacon only and friend got the default breakfast burrito with all 3 meats (ham, bacon, sausage). Both were really good with good ratios of potatoes, egg, meat. Very filling! read more

Terrible customer service! My husband was threatened by 3 of their employees tonight after they tried to essentially steal food from us. He ordered a bacon burger, a regular burger, a chicken sandwich, and some orders of fries, the total of which should have come to what we paid ($36). He came all the way home only to discover that our son's burger was not in the bag, so he drove back and told the guy he was missing a burger. The guy acted like he didn't even know who he was (even though he'd just been there getting the original order). My husband showed them the receipt and said we paid for two burgers and a sandwich, but we only got two of them. The guy was super rude and just said nope. They made another burger, but then wanted to charge my husband for it. He told them he already paid and the guy just kept saying no he didn't. He asked if my husband wanted the burger and he said yes, so he started ringing him up for it. My husband got mad and repeated that he already paid and the guy mocked him and then said "I'm not just going to give you a free burger, dude." My husband finally said he wanted a refund for the original burger and for his burger that was at this point sitting getting cold at home. The guy mocked him again and said "what are you going to do about it?" My husband lost his cool and knocked the plastic tip jar over (which obviously wasn't great, but he felt powerless and angry, and it was empty). The guy got in his face, red-faced screaming, and two more guys came out from the back. One of them picked up a mug from a shelf and threatened to smash it into my husband's face if he didn't leave and threatened to call the cops. My husband told them to go ahead and call the cops because they were trying to cheat him out of the money for the burger and he would wait for them to arrive. That made the guy who threatened him more mad and he screamed to get the F out. Eventually my husband left because he felt threatened with 3 of them against him. He had to go get my son a burger from Carls Jr, which probably tasted better than this place anyway because he said the cafe was dirty and the guy was working the register with fingernails so filthy he second-guessed even ordering in the first place when he first got there. He only did because my son had been here with a friend previously and since it was his turn to choose the restaurant for dinner, he requested this place. That made it especially sad they forgot his burger to start with. read more

I have always loved Fantastic Cafe- Charbugers ever since I was a kid as I remember Sundays would be the day many people would go for breakfast/brunch. It has always been known for amazing g portion sizes, especially when eating in. They offer take out and I decided to give it a go since it has been a couple month since last time I went. Between the family we got ham and cheese omelette, which comes with toast, hash browns, and jelly. I always thought their breakfast was one of the best parts of their menu. It is all day and has always been amazingly consistent as well as delicious. Brother got the double cheeseburger which looked and smelled amazing. Their burgers are especially tasty with the char burgers they are known for making. As I said before, the portions are what is always impressive and never ceases to amaze how full one can get without realizing it. Of course I went for their ground beef taco, one of my favorite items on their menu and I swear as the wrapper starting coming undone, a great pile of ground beef a little lettuce, tomato, and cheese came tumbling out on my plate luckily. They must also put a taco sauce on their ground beef taco as the spice is just perfect and you get a little in every bite including within the toppings which makes it all the more satisfying. The taco shell was stuffed with a generous amount of meat and toppings and I just went for the one as I got a plate of twister fries which were perfectly seasoned, hot, fresh, and a very generous amount of fries taking up a whole plate size. You wouldn't think one taco and an order of fries could get one so stuffed, even without one finishing it but as I said, their portions have always been pretty incredible. Still is a great place to go no matter what time of day it is for you. The menu is a good size and there is something for everyone. They have daily specials and everything from tacos to steak dinners to breakfast to burgers. They offer seating inside and offer take out. Still a great place and always has been a great place in this little town. read more

Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.

We had an incredible server in John. He was the perfect balance of attentiveness (yet not overbearing), knowledgeable, professional, yet he still made us feel like we were having a relaxed hangout out in his house as his friends. I've been a bartender at various bars and restaurants for the past 20 years and I gotta say that it was an honor to be helped by that caliber of a server. I also told him that I didn't love mushrooms so he had our entrée, which had mushrooms, split and my sister's half had mushrooms but mine didn't. Just incredible We couldn't recommend this restaurant any more highly. Do yourself a favor and stop by The Strand House for a meal, you'll thank me later.

The atmosphere honestly carries a lot of the experience here. Food-wise though, I have mixed feelings considering the pricing. The menu is definitely charging premium Manhattan Beach/oceanfront prices, but most of the food itself felt pretty average. The breakfast potatoes were especially mid and lacked seasoning or anything memorable. My wife didn't enjoy the pork belly benedict much, although she did really like the salmon benedict. On the other hand, the bluefin tuna tostada was magnificent and easily one of the standout dishes we had. The fries situation was fascinating to me. They're $15, but to be fair they give you an absurd amount of fries -- basically an entire fry boat. They also serve them with house-made ketchup and aioli, which sounds great... except they give you about a thimble worth of sauce. I started noticing almost every other table with fries had huge piles left over and completely ran out of sauce early on. At that point it almost feels intentional because there's no way the restaurant hasn't noticed this pattern already. Overall, this is the kind of place where you go for the scenery, people watching, drinks, atmosphere, and social experience more than for mind-blowing food. If you approach it that way, it's a really enjoyable spot.
