After three bad experiences, I'm giving up on Ike's. Stopped by with several families before a game and were treated horribly. "No room" by the bar with many open tables and we were told we could have several " for 30 minutes only". Hostess was beyond exasperated and rude at our "lack of reservations" mid- day on a Sunday. Sat at the bar and was served immediately. The bartender was very nice and helpful with ordering food and drinks. I tried the blue plate and had an amazing butcher's cut steak with side salad. Today my girlfriend and I had lunch at Ike's to celebrate our February birthdays. Our server was Floyd and he went above and beyond for us. He was attentive, answered our questions and made recommendations. We had mentioned to him at the start of the meal that we were both celebrating our birthdays. Imagine our surprise when he walked out, after clearing our table, with two ice cream sundaes, complete with candles, whipped cream, caramel and chocolate sauce and maraschino cherries!? Pure delight! The food we ordered was delicious too. I ordered the calamari, which was crispy and tender. The portion wasn't huge but it tasted so good, it was worth it. My girlfriend had the SW Fried Avocado Salad. The salad was huge and had four avocado halves, battered and lightly fried. It was so large, she couldn't finish it and took the leftovers home. Floyd even asked her if she wanted a deli cup to bring the additional salad dressing home. What a terrific server! Ike's, you'd better hang on to that guy - he's definitely a keeper. read more

We dined at Ike's tonight. We only had to wait about 20 minutes which I didn't think that was bad since it was super busy! Our server was Jackie. She was amazing!!!! We ordered deviled eggs, a malt, the ribeye, and a filet. All of the food was okay. I would rate the food 5/10. I think it was over priced for what we had. For a couple drinks and food it came to $150.00. They sat us in the corner which it was fine but it was very cold which didn't make us want to be there long. Warm, welcoming, hardy food but hard to get to. That about sums up Ike's in Minnetonka. The wood panelled walls, lighting and overall decor make for a warm, welcoming feel. The wait staff in their ecru jackets are very efficient and professional. It almost always seems​ crowded, especially at dinner time, and there's often a wait for a table. We went early on our last visit and surprisingly were seated right away. The location, on a frontage road off Hwy 7 with no direct access, makes it difficult for non-locals to figure out how to get to the place. Parking is limited and a real hassle. The French Onion Soup had no bread, but was very hardy. That, along with a steak salad left no room for the wonderful cookies for which Ike's is noted. We had a group of eight this week and enjoyed wonderful food and service. Ben, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, attentive and helpful. His input and suggestions assured that we all got meals that fit our tastes and requirements. Ikes food is always good. Our group enjoyed every thing from burgers to a chicken and rib combo to an entree salad. Meal sizes were very generous and prepared perfectly to order. We came here for Valentine's Day, I thought the burger and calamari was very good. The calamari had amazing taste, just wish it was more crispy. We also ordered the artichoke dip & there was a black hair in it, so we only had a bite. They did give us the artichoke dip for free, obviously. They also took a beer off, which we really appreciated. The Ike's roadhouse burger was star of the show. It had amazing flavor and was our favorite thing we got. I can't believe that I didn't come back here since 2019. With the Corina virus and all the shutdowns. Going out has been hard to do these days. But I am so glad that I could go to Ikes again. It is such a great place...I mean they give you a free treat. The soup du jour was a pretty solid tasty Chicken Wild Rice. They made my weird request for OJ and Sprite. The fries are really good. First time trying Ike's. Seems like a big part of local history. Vibe was great. Homey, but classy atmosphere, yet not pretentious. We call it "lake country chic." Place was busy early in the evening and emptied out in the 8 o'clock hour. Things started to fall apart as half of everything we ordered was gone for the night and there was a scramble to come up with alternatives as we got the bad news while the rest of the order was being prepared. This led to first and second courses arriving at the same time or even a first showing up after the second. Everything was priced for a fancy night out and the food quality didn't match the price tag. If everything had been 25 percent less expensive, I'd say Ike's is fine, but we'll be reluctant to return. read more

We came here for Sunday brunch with our small children. My husband ordered the Family Style Brunch and I ordered a bowl of lobster bisque. We let the server know that my husband would be giving his pancakes to our children. What came to us was completely disappointing. I received a tiny cup of soup, not a bowl like I had ordered, and... According to the menu, the Family Style Brunch comes with your choice of eggs and was supposed to "fill you up with an endless platter of buttermilk pancakes, wood smoked bacon, sausage and crispy hash browns." The meal also included "complimentary caramel pecan rolls served until they are gone". What ACTUALLY came to him was a plate with ONE pancake ONE piece of sausage, ONE piece of bacon and some hash browns with a serving of eggs and a caramel pecan roll. We split the pancake between my children and ordered more pancakes, sausage, bacon, and another caramel roll. TWENTY minutes later he received another caramel roll and a plate with ONE pancake, ONE sausage, and ONE piece of bacon. At this point my children were famished, I was finished with my tiny cup of soup, and my husbands eggs were cold (as he likes to eat them with his meat). The server disappeared before he could ask for more of anything and finally returned after another 20 minutes. My husband ordered more meat, asking for multiple of each type. Within 10 minutes he received a plate with two pieces of sausage and two pieces of bacon. While all of the food we ate here was actually really good, the whole experience was incredibly frustrating. We were there for a total of 2 hours, and will not be back. When we received the bill we noticed that we were charged $5 for the second caramel roll (that doesn't sound very "complimentary" to me). I questioned the server about this and was told that the meal only came with one, and additional rolls were $5/each. TLDR: Don't order the Family Style Brunch. It may advertise that it comes with an endless platter of goodies, but the only thing endless is your hunger and the amount of time it takes to get your food. For the price of this meal, it's completely unacceptable to leave hungry. Good food, but the menu is deceptive. Not worth your time. Edit: After posting this review I was contacted by the owner/manager who apologized for our experience and refunded our entire bill. This was a true act of great customer service and because of this, we will be back to give Ike's another chance. Like I said earlier, the food was good. Love this place. Have been here many times, breakfast through dinner, social and work events. The inside atmosphere is very cozy. Waiters are too notch. You get a sense it is a notch up without paying steep prices. Most recently had the Ikes Tavern Burger. Yum. Ample size, good thick bacon. My fiance & I ate here on Sat Jan 30 2021 while we were out and about picking out our sept 18th 21 wedding cake and floral bouquets for our wedding. First off we had eaten at Ikes 2 years prior to this Sat. Since being our second time we walked into this cute little niche of a restaurant off of the backroads that intersect and turn off of HWY 7 by the Minnetonka Target and Cub area. The ambiance when you walk in is a dimly lit comforting hostess awaiting to seat you quickly. We only stood in the doorway only to be welcomed and seated right away. Everyone was wearing there PPE masks for the Covid 19 Pandemic which was really noticable which is awesome. We started off with 2 cups of soup one being Ikes lobster bisque soup for myself and a cup of wildrice soup for my fiance. Now I sadly didn't like my lobster bisque only due to the fact there were little pieces of lobster shell hidden within each spoon I gulped down of this soup. I only ate half of this due to the gross nature and texture of this soup. However my fiance had an amazing no joke best Minnesota cup of wildrice soup the two of us had ever eaten before. I mean this soup kicked butt it was scrumptious. For our beveragea before I forget we both had orange juice mixed with Sprite. This was a great mid day drink and refreshing. Than we came to ordering our meals. My fiance ordered the french dip sandwhich with fries and ranch and I ordered the flat bread margarita style pizza. Honestly my flatbread could have been cooked longer for more crispy ness it only tasted better when I had rewarded it in my over at home.my fiances french dip was absolutely flavorful and juicy. I liked her entre and soup better than my decision for my meal. She had the upper delicious plate than I. We also had a very nice waitress who went over the top to satisfy our customer needs. She brought us complimentary monkey bread it had nuts on it so I didnt eat it. Not huge on nuts on dessert like food. My fiance liked it though and at the end of our meal we had recieved two freshly warmed chocolate chip cookies instead of after dinner mints. The bill was also adjusted for me due to the soup incident and the waitress was such a sweet heart for removing my soup and offering me something else which I kindly turned down. Overall Ikes place is a nice family restaurant and has a great collection of drink offered at there bar inside. So if your in town Minnetonka or just around grocery shopping in the area Ikes is the place to go for a quick bite to eat or nice happy hour cocktail. read more

Now that I'm looking at my overall trends of eating at Ike's, I'm seeing that the level of service is lacking across the board. Our first few visits here were ok, but seemed to go downhill pretty slowly. Food: It's good food, and the cinnamon rolls are really what you want when you're here. Just note, brunch only includes one! The rest you pay for, which we did not know. Brunch is served family style, so you have to share 3-4 pancakes between a family. We easily polished off what we wanted, but since there was food left they were slower to come back. I'd just say the serving sizes were off for the way the food is served. Service: I was a little disappointed when they were slow to bring extras of certain foods. The server didn't seem to pay that close of attention, so the times we made specific requests they weren't handled well. Big note - we came here once on Mother's Day and that was a huge mistake. My mother-in-law ordered a bloody mary and it took over 30 minutes to get it. No explanation just plunked down and the server walked away. Ambiance: just ok. For the area (and how many times the location has turned over) I suppose it'll pass. But really I was hoping for more since they push so hard to have a fun, quirky atmosphere. We haven't been back since the Mother's Day experience and honestly haven't really missed it since. read more

i have been to every Ikes in the metro (and airport making it a point to arrive early to hit the old Ikes) from dinner to lunch to brunch. Over the years we have even made it point when going to concerts to go to Ikes. However they just seem to be slowly going down in quality. We were here for brunch this time. Service was subpar and a table of 6 that sat down 10 minutes after us received their meals before us. I ordered a cheeseburger along with my dad. His came out perfect but mine came out plain and looked like it was a small kids burger. They put cheese on and heated it up but I still couldn't muscle through it. Ironically I almost stopped at Culvers as their burgers were way better. Food and service really used to be good. As for now we realized why we pulled Ikes out of our rotation. read more

We were trying to have a celebration dinner, but the horrid food at this restaurant ruined the vibe. We had to turn each dish back. We never do that at restaurants, but the kitchen puts out aweful food. Even the burger was the worst we had ever had! The table next to us also returned their food. I had dinner at Ike's bar the said hey here is a open seat by the bar entrance sit here 15 minutes later when the broken wood door for the bar disposal came flying across the bar walk way due to a bartender mike hooking it. It struck me in the left knee very hard. This knee was surgically reconstructed. They didn't give a Dam, lies about who the manager was on duty Billie or carol wanted me to fill out my own incident report. The knee is swollen and in stabbing pain. Zip for how are you zip for what can we do told to come back for the report tomorrow and so many more things. I just started to walk better with out a cane after almost two years of Pt and recovery Then the broken door disappeared. Food is high priced and average quality, service is not personal. You are just a number. I know this from 3 previous visits. Only came back as it was the best option for a quick appetizer and beer before my boys hockey game. They now require you wear masks when not actively eating or drinking, weird since John Hopkins university just published a study that said that masks are "facial decorations" unless they are N95. They offered to sell me one to walk to the bar for a dollar! But I would have had to walk back to the entrance from the bar to get the mask that has been proven to be worthless against Covid just to walk back to where I was. No critical thinking with this business or it's employees. Trying to profit off of fear and ignorance. I walked out and took my business elsewhere. Had family style brunch there this morning with my friend. If you enjoy apathetic wait staff and hostess and you like to be 10* hotter than is the actual outside temperature, you'll love it here. The place was rain forest HOT and muggy inside. We told both the waiter-who shrugged- and the hostess-who blankly stared back. They didn't seem to care; actually, I don't think they could've been any more apathetic to us. Literally didn't care, wow. The food was good but I found the hostess rude! We were there at 10:48 on a Saturday morning in between basketball games at MTKA HS. Hostess said that since we didn't have a reservation (who needs one before lunch on a Saturday morning?) that she would be able to seat us but she "would need us out by 12:15pm". Yes that is a quote...I need you out... who says that? We are not teenagers we are paying adults who would have ordered more but just got an app so not to spend much after that encounter. It was my last full day in Minnesota so the company took the trainees out to lunch. I chose this place strictly on the profile picture that's posted. Good job to that marketing team. Lol. This place is a little off the beaten path, but thumbs up to that private parking lot. As soon as you walk in you're immersed in this, 1940s, New York mobster themed restaurant. They legit had Donnie Brasco (I think) playing in our private dining room for added effect. I could be wrong, I don't know my mobster movies very well. POINT IS, they had a movie playing in the dining room for added points! Lol. All over the walls are paintings, pictures, decor, I mean it never ended! You could tell that some real work had gone into creating this atmosphere of this place which I could really appreciate. Alana took good care of us minus a couple slip-ups, but there were 11 of us, so I still commend her effort. For an appetizer I went with a bowl of their lobster bisque. It was so smooth, rich, savory and very delicious. It certainly warmed me up and was quite filling. For my entree I went with the Santa Fe Salad. It's a concoction of mixed greens, roasted corn, pico de gallo, fried avocados, tortilla chips and comes with chipotle buttermilk ranch dressing. I added chicken and bacon to mine which really set the salad off. It was so good and made the salad sort of... "exciting". Like, I wanted to eat it, I wasn't just eating it to try and be healthy, but I really enjoyed it though I didn't understand the need to fry an avocado, but I guess it was okay. It wasn't needed, avocados are good all by themselves. I'd totally come back to this place to try out the rest of their menu! Oh! I forgot!
