Incredible vibes! The staff at this bar in Eataly were super friendly! We just went in for a drink and apps. We grabbed glasses of Prosecco and then got fresh Mozzarella and bread. This is a very cool concept. You eat your meal in the middle of the Italian market. It's a bit overpriced but all the pasta is made in front of you. The food is really good I had the Tagliatelle which was amazing. My wife had the Tonnarelli which also enjoyed. The kids were able to get spaghetti with red sauce. Cute restaurant inside Eataly! We were sat immediately with their bar seating. Beautiful decor at the center of Eataly with marble countertops, classy furnishing, and inside view of how they make the fresh pasta. Our server gave us his favorite recommendations and checked if we had any dietary restrictions. We were dining for dinner around 6 pm. The ambiance was great to chat with my colleagues. I was stuck between a 4 and 3 but idk. Wine was good, service was great. The cesar and truffle bruschetta were on point and delicious, but I expected so much more of the pasta! The pasta itself felt perfect, but the sauces didn't do it for me. Tagliatelle was good but something still felt off, and the amatriciana sauce was just so thick/chunky. Pleasantly surprised by this place! It's a seat-yourself counter inside Eataly near Madison Square park with set pasta + sauce combos and a rotating monthly pasta! We got the tagliatelle and bigoli. Wouldn't get the tagliatelle again because it was too thin for my liking, broke apart while eating and was too soft, no chew. Bolognese was just meh too. BUT THE BIGOLI omg it was SO good. A simple thing done well. Each element of meal, the bread, the olive oil, the pasta, my fiancé's glass of wine; was simple and elegant and delicious. For counter service, it manages to be quite intimate. Service was a little slow and chaotic, but frankly that's just part of the vibe. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. we Are native New Yorkers, I think this stacks up well to restaurants which are substantially more expensive. We picked this one because it looked cute, had a pair of open seats on the bar table. Honestly, you could toss a rock and where ever it lands will be a good pick. Were greeted right away with fast and friendly service. Ordered a bottle of red wine, carbernet franc, and honestly, the price was decent for both quality and the fact that it's in a restaurant. It wasn't too terribly marked up. All regions of Italy are represented here. Got the Porri E Pistacchi to start. Fantastic. Goat cheese balanced out the leeks. The pistachios were a nice added crunch and nutty flavor. Date and I had the Cacio e Pepe. Delizioso! Romano and pecorino cheese blends a nice salty and creamy flavor to the perfectly cooked pasta. Also got the tagliatelle. Beef was tender and aged well. The prosciutto added a nice saltiness to complement the beef's juiciness. They accidentally brought us out the trenette, which we didn't order. I ate it anyways, and they caught their mistake and decided not to charge us for it. That's grade A service. It was also pretty good, although I'd say it was my least favorite of the bunch, even though I loved them all! I'm not a big pesto fan, as I found it overwhelming my palate. Also there was too much of it, making the texture feel like I was eating a basil smoothie. Overall, spent $135 before tip, so not bad for a big dinner for 2. And, if you are fortunate to grab a seat at the counter at il Pastaio, you and your friend will be invited to a carb induced heaven. I was feeling cacio e pepe on my most recent trip, especially knowing it would be made properly and not with any unnecessary ingredients. Fresh pasta, properly executed... you'll be seeing stars. The price point, for a quick counter setting is a bit higher than you'd expect, but at least you won't be sitting there for hours racking up a higher bill. It's really just a good spot to grab a quick, delicious bite, washed down with a nice glass of wine. Here is what we ordered: - Prosciutto di Parma - the housemade Stracciatella cheese, prosciutto and pizza bread (so buttery) is what made this one of the best pizzas I ever had. This is what I would expect to eat in Italy. Every bite had me wanting another taste. Order this. - Fried zucchini flowers are filled with cheese (Caciocavallo) and was a lovely surprise. My son loved it. It was lightly fried and delicate. - Linguine Con Aragosta with Maine lobster fell short for us. The noodles were way too al dente. I know it must've been an oversight on their part to serve it this way. But the sauce and everything else in this dish worked. A waiter took noticed that the sun was shining onto us and asked if we would like more shade. He moved the sandbags and a huge umbrella stand to have it closer to us. That was awfully sweet and much appreciated. Service throughout was stellar and super friendly. Make sure to stop by the market afterwards. There are tons of imported Italian goods. read more

I had an excellent asparagus salad. I think the green and white asparagus are cooked perfectly with probably blanched long thin strips or maybe raw strips of asparagus on top. The food was fine and prices are pretty reasonable (with the event discount which I believe was $25 for both dishes) and I was full by end. I'm not very familiar with Italian food so I cannot comment on authenticity but everything taste OK but not amazing. I was not a fan of this. But the agnolotti was just so good. I would come back just for agnolotti. Service was good. This is another restaurant within Eataly. All of the seats in this restaurant are at a bar. There are no reservations and no apparent organized list or control on customer seating. We were fortunate to find seats with only a short wait. Larry R was our server, and he helped us understand the menu and gave recommendations. We shared two small plates and an entree. The small plates were Melanzane In Agrodolce and Carote Pastaio. The Melanzane was eggplant, tomatoes, pine nuts, and onion. The Carote was roasted carrots, over whipped Calabro Ricotta with sunflower seed. Both the small plates were unique and very good. The entree was Tagliatelle. It came with beef and Prosciutto di Parma DOP Aged 18 Months. All were delicious. While waiting for our meal to be prepared, we were entertained watching a staff member make Cappellacci Di Zucca. These are "little hats" made from an egg pasta ravioli filled with butternut squash. This was the best of my meals at Eataly restaurants this visit. read more

Seats are first come first serve. People often like to leave gaps between parties and the establishment won't do much to make people move over so more people can sit and eat. You have to say something yourself. Also, if the "maitre d" asks around and tries to find someone who is about to finish their meal, do not rely on them either. Had we not gone out of our way to put together two separated, but empty seats at one section, we would have waited easily another 30 minutes for a couple who had already paid their bill and said they were gonna get up, but didn't. Don't be those jerks, when you're sitting in a desirable, limited seating area, already paid your bill, and are just wasting time on your phone. YMMV with seating; goodl uck. In any case, we chose this particular part of Eataly because of the larger pasta selection that could not be had elsewhere on site. I was going to get the Agnolotti del plin for $19, since its not everyday I eat veal, but the guy next to me got it and it didn't look appealing. Even with the picture of the pasta in the menu, its hard to know what it'll look like until its in front of you. I ended up getting the Tagliatelle. It came with Beef and Prosciutto di Parma DOP for $18. I only tasted beef, but it was a good dish. Not the fanciest noodle, but the meats sounded good. Perhaps I'll do the veal next time anyway. The pastas were so good that we practically inhaled our meals after taking the first bite. The texture of the pasta was perfect - not too soft and not too hard - and also provided great tenderness and flavor. My only complaint is that although the staff was very friend, the service was a bit slow and it was difficult to flag someone down to ask for something.
