Il Profeta came highly recommended by friends for our honeymoon visit to Florence. It did not disappoint! When we came in for our reservation, we were instaltly greeted by the owners, a cute husband and wife who have poured their heart and soul into this restaurant. From the moment we entered, we knew we were in for something special. We started with the Rustico Appetizer, which was a great mix of Tuscan classics. We had the famous John Travolta pasta which was absolute perfection. We also had the pear ravioli and gnocchi, which were excellent. For dessert, we had the chocolate, which was made by the owner herself. We were also given some complimentary tiramisu which was the best we've ever had. The owners were super awesome and made the experience memorable.

10/10. Amazing!!!!!!!!! Must go if visiting Florence!! Get the John Travolta pasta!! Delicious wine and awesome owners and staff.

Sample of their famous plate that John Travolta had!

This restaurant is by far the best restaurant I've been to since I came to Italy! The service and food is beyond words. The attention to detail for everything is unlike anything I've seen before. They even let us try their most famous pasta dish that John Travolta had! It made it so very special for my family. I am so glad other restaurants didn't work out & this one did. It did not disappoint at all. The ambience, the food, the service, the people all were so loving & caring. Definitely will be coming back. Grazie di cuore per tutto! Alla prossima volta!!

We lucked into an open table right after opening. The chef was gracious to proceed several samples of his other dishes throughout our meal. Service was excellent and the food was amazing. Definitely will be back for another special evening meal in Florence. While it is small, the ambiance is upscale and welcoming. Phenomenal food and amazing service.

Service was unmatched and the food was excellent. We ordered the shrimp in saffron sauce, Parmesan and pear pasta, pappardelle with wild boar, and the Florentine steak. The restaurant was kind enough to split all pasta orders for us in half since there were two of us (so the pictures show what each person got). On the pricier side but overall worth the experience! Edit to add we saw someone post about them not accepting credit cards but had no issues with paying with Visa or Mastercard.

    Eggplant Parmigiana! Delicious!!

Welcoming like family! Owner explains menu options and is passionate about their food choices and quality. Ravioli was tasty and presented in a most beautiful way. Best eggplant parmigiana I've ever had. Bravo!!

Pretty much everything was excellent. Not going to lie I was a little bit concerned coming in here as I noticed that my family and I were only among Americans and no locals. Ordered spaghetti with seafood and pork cutlet among other dishes as well as florentine steak. Loved the pork cutlet the most! Florentine steak was a bit too large for us considering our other orders. I feel as though the flavor wasn't so evenly distributed because of how thick and dense it was. It was incredibly tender though. It is a T-bone cut Be prepared to bring cash. They prefer it. In terms of service, 5 stars for sure. They gave us two dishes to try in between our entrees. I don't think we ever had a moment where we were NOT eating Love supporting family owned businesses like this!

    John Travolta Pasta

We saved the best meal for our last night in Florence. Everything was amazing...from the wild boar, to the John Travolta Pasta, to the chocolate chocolate cake! And the service....superb! Caio Florence. We will be back, and when we are our first stop will be Il Profeta!

The famous John Travolta pasta is incredible!

My boyfriend and I visited il profeta while staying in Firenze and the service was incredible. The owner and staff were so amazing and friendly. The ambience is very authentic Italian and the restaurant is family owned. Where do I even begin with their food? Make sure you come hungry. They do it right. The plates of food kept coming and were absolutely delicious. They even surprised my boyfriend with dessert and limoncello and sang to him since we mentioned it was his birthday when we walked in. We are already planning our next Florence trip and will most definitely be back! Thank you again il profeta. We loved our experience with you!

After a few long days full of walking all day, we were looking for somewhere to eat near our air b&b. Found this restaurant while searching Yelp and was intrigued by the pear ravioli. Honestly, the best service we've had while here in Italy! Even though we didn't have a reservation, they sat us right away and the owners were all kind and hospitable - stopping at our table to show us the specials. Probably the best service we received all trip! The food - amazing! The "John Travolta" pasta was so delicious that even though we were stuffed, we ordered another one. The pear ravioli surprised me - it wasn't too sweet and the perfect balance. The truffle pasta looked amazing as well but sadly, we were too full! If you are in Florence, definitely add this to your must-go places!

"The only other masterpiece we experienced that matches this dinner was Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel," said my 19-yr-old daughter to Claudio, the owner of this well-named Florentine restaurant. From the service of the owner and his wife to the wait staff, you feel like you are the King and Queen visiting for a meal. We happened upon this place on our first day visiting Firenze. I frantically searched for a restaurant upon our arrival and we went before 8 to see if we could secure a table at this Michelin-starred restaurant. They sat us on the patio and we had no idea that this was only the first miracle of the evening. Claudio interpreted the menu for us and we gave him full reign on the first courses, only choosing 2 of our 3 pastas. He brought the vegetable antipasti plate, which was DIVINE and then hot starters, I can't even catalogue them all--one of each for us to share. He surprised my husband with John Travolta's pasta and brought us each a bite on our own plates and a knife for my husband "to defend his plate," which was fully called for! The dish was perfection! I can describe it like a heavenly vodka sauce, though Claudio holds tight the secret recipe. I had the pear ravioli (splendid!) and my daughter had the burrata ravioli with cherry tomatoes and basil. Just when you think you cannot eat another bite, they roll out the dessert tray and you hear yourself ordering desserts! There was not a thing we put in our mouths that was not the best thing we had eaten. And, when we did not select the tiramisu he brought us some to try and it was like eating a creamy, espresso-flavored cloud. Run to this restaurant! It will be the best thing you did for your visit to Firenze. (Make a reservation.)

I had to straight up grab the empty glass next to me from another customer and pour water into it so she can see. It would be one thing to say "Oh, I'm sorry about that". And I'd be over it. But it's the fact that she kept on insisting it was the same that bothered me. Then has the nerve to ask if I want dessert.. No? Decent food but the service was absolute crap. Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.
