Chicken parm
Tori N.

My husband and I visited Il Radicchio for the first time the other night and had a nice time. It's a very small restaurant, probably 15 tables max, but it was full on a Saturday night with a line waiting that moved quickly. It's a cozy place, but the tables for 2 are quite small if you're against the wall...small enough that you don't feel like you have enough space for all the items on the table. My husband and I sat down with two menus and a wine menu, and before we even spoke with a waiter someone came by and picked up the wine menu off the table...which was odd because we planned to order a bottle of wine. We noticed other tables had bread but we were never brought or offered any. We were a little bit ignored but not to the point that it was rude. We ordered the prosciutto wrapped scallops, caprese with prosciutto, the chicken parm, and a make your own pasta. All of the food tasted good, I liked that the chicken parm is grilled instead of breaded, it gave it a nice twist on a classic. My husband didn't think his pasta was cooked well, he thought it was a little overdone, but not bad enough to send it back. Overall it was a fine dinner, we agreed if we were craving Italian food we would go there, but wouldn't actively choose to go on a random day.

Radicchio salad

It was a hot day, a very hot day. We walked into Il Radicchio sweaty and hungry, and were met immediately with open seats and cold ice water (fantastic service right in the door). The menu provided a unique challenge of being too customizable, despite this struggle we landed on trying the ravioli and making a cheese calzone with both pesto and red sauce to dip. We were blown away by the high quality flavor and fantastic presentation. I am already a huge ravioli fan in general but the mushroom ragu sauce paired so nicely with the caramelized onions and goat cheese, I think I could've eaten a bucket of this. A simple cheese calzone may sound silly, but dipping it into the house pesto and red sauce was an out worldly experience (highly recommend). Comfortable vibes with outdoor seating too, although not on a hot day in my opinion. Easy to miss if you're walking by but once you know it's there you kinda know you'll be coming back.

It was packed on a Thursday night, but once the waiter stopped by, our food was out promptly! Good place to stop by for your standard Italian American fair. the salad was a perfect appetizer for me to split with another person to get some greens in. The artichoke ravioli was exactly what I wanted with a nice mushroom sauce that I finished off with the complementary bread. I got a plain calzone, but they have build your own calzones and pizza where you can add whatever you want, which is a nice option. I asked for two sides sauces and they were very generous with a side of marinara sauce and pesto. They were able to accommodate a larger group or two, but would recommend for smaller parties because there aren't too many tables, it's a cozy place but didn't feel too crowded. I will return next time I'm craving Italian!

Amazing lasagna

It's been a few years and unfortunately I don't think this is a spot for pasta anymore. We came in on a Friday night and the inside wasn't packed at 7. We got smushed next to two other two top tables- I get wanting to save larger tables for other large groups but it's super uncomfortable to be sitting hands distance away in a small back corner when half the rest of the restaurant is empty. Bruschetta is still good but bread basket got smaller. As mentioned, the all you can eat pasta is a rip off- might as well go to Olive Garden. You get all you can eat noodles, which we all know a box of is about 2$ at the store. The least they could do is give 50% off each extra sauce you order to make it slightly worth it. The spaghetti and meatball is just two meatballs cut in half to make it seem like it's 4. Pasta quality was good but meatballs were very grey and grainy. The biggest let down is the lasagna changed completely- while it appears larger, the sauce they use now is completely different than the one we loved from 2017-2022. It had chunks of celery and carrots and just was not good. Maybe a spot to grab pizza from still but definitely no longer a place I'd crave pasta from.

Penne with bolognese

Got takeout which was easy to order online. I really like their concept of the build your own pasta! I got penne with bolognese. I've been trying to find an authentic bolognese in nova (where there's less tomato) and have been struggling to find one. This is still pretty tomato-y but it's getting closer to what I've been looking for! I would go back to try another one of their sauces

I've strolled by here enough to glimpse the faux candle light flickering off the wine glasses of a merry group of 4 dining on the outdoor patio. It looked warm & inviting. I ordered the chicken parm ($20) + bruschetta ($11). I spotted the all you can eat pasta and suggested it to my partner who was famished. My food was basic and filling. Just as I expected for the price point. What leads me to the poor review is a mixture of their misleading menu + nonchalant attitude of server. When I spotted the "all you can eat pasta", my partner was suspicious, too good to be true. We hailed our server and asked for clarification - crystal clear- it was all you can eat. When my partner tried to flag for his 2nd filling of pasta - woopty do- you're charged for the sauce. We called the server and he backtracks "oh it says on the menu only the noodle". We ask him to point out to us where on the menu it's written---and he searches and says - it's not there. No acknowledgment of the misinformation let alone an apology. I still tipped out of societal pressures. Yes, I can afford the sauce. I want to say it's the principle. But it's more than that. My working poor immigrant parents hated dining out because of all the huge hidden costs + small unsaid cultural etiquettes. I think we went to Chili's twice a year MAX. Be forthcoming with your menu. And don't ever try to make people feel stupid for not deciphering the cryptic code in which you + your menu speaks.

We came here around 530 on a Friday and were able to get a table with no problem despite it being a small restaurant. The bread is free and great but the real crazy part about this place is the all-you-can-eat pasta. You can get the pasta refills but the sauce will cost you. The radicchio e salsiccia and carbonara was solid. The best one was the Alfredo pesto. You are not beating the price for decent pasta anywhere, I would definitely go back.

Calamari Grigliati
Angela C.

Talk about a delicious and authentic local Italian spot! I came here to celebrate my birthday on a Friday evening and had the best dinner and dining experience. We started off with the insalate de mele and it was fresh with perfectly ripe grapes and apples topped with a subtle and refreshing Prosecco dressing which I loved. Next we ordered the calamari which was chewier than I expected but was served over a bed of arugula and white beans that added a delicious savory flavor. Then, we split a 12" pizza with fresh mozzarella, olives, mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes and a penne salmone. Both were excellent but wow...the penne salmone was my absolute favorite. I could eat it everyday! The food already makes ill radicchio one of the best Italian spots in the DMV, but the indoor ambience of the restaurant adds such charm. We got a little table for two perched in the windowsill and we enjoyed having our own private nook and the cute decor and painting of chickens on the wall. Would highly recommend for a memorable and authentic dining experience!

Caprese
Will M.

Charming tiny spot for authentic Italian food. Extensive red wine list. Bread was a good starter on the house. You'll have olive oil and red peppers ready at your table. Highly recommend the caprese if you crave mozzarella like I do. Spaghetti and meatballs hit the spot. Meatballs were heavy and the melted cheese was a nice complement. Tomato sauce was hearty and had little pieces of meat in it. Lobster ravioli had delicious Smokey flavors. The vodka sauce complimented it well. Maybe went a little too far with the pecorino Romano cheese. Good prices for high quality Italian in Arlington.

Can anyone provide more info about their all you can eat pasta?

For the price, you choose one pasta type then you pay more for whatever sauce/and or meat and veggie addition. You get unlimited pasta refill but have to keep paying for more sauce/toppings.

The food came out quickly, tapas-style, which made the whole experience even better. Great price for the amount and quality of food, excellent service, and such a fun ambiance. When we walked in, we thought it was gonna be packed because there were no reservations on OpenTable however they were able to see us right away. A very nice touch to add a stem of Rose for the women. I would say that I gave it a lower star rating not because the food was bad. It was actually delicious, but probably the experience itself. The restaurant felt chaotic, and even though all the tables were not completely packed of course there were flowers everywhere people gathering with grandmother's mother's children, etc We were seated in a two people table and all the top past dishes started to pile up very quickly. Instead of monitoring, the progress of the finished dishes and removing those dishes due to space constraint, the dishes came from the kitchen, almost on top of one another, and at one point I had to hold a dish in my hand in order to make space to put a dish on top of another flatbread pan/dish, making things super chaotic. Also dishes had to be put on top of the menu because in order to order additional food, you need to leave at least one copy of the menu at the table. Overall, again the flavors and taste were good, though I might have had similar dishes from other places, and my partner commented that some of it is actually very close to the Capital One landing at DCA. I would just say that it was more due to the chaos and just the way that all the dishes piled up on top of us we felt like we were we had to eat super quickly so that we could stack dishes ourselves and create room at the table. Also, when serving the dishes were not kept level and basically was slide to the side of the dish, making presentation off

Both times we've gone, it was during their happy hour, which runs until 7 pm, and we stuck to the special menu. Those have included their Charcuterie Board (something that contributed to Dr. Oz not being a senator), crispy Brussels sprouts, their Margarita flatbread, chicken skewers, and truffle fries. Don't hate us; that was spread over two visits. Everything tasted great, though next time I think we'll graduate to the real menu. The wines we've tried so far were either inexpensive or not bad. For inexpensive, I've had glasses of their $3 Tempranillo. While it wasn't great, I've paid a lot re for much worse. For "not bad", my wife had the $10 Buehler Cab. After it opened up for a bit it was quite drinkable.

My first impression of Ser was its ambiance - nice mood lighting, comfy seats, and just the right amount of ambient noise. We had a reservation (recommended!) and were quickly ushered to our seats and given menus. The waiter was courteous, prompt (always re-filling our water glasses), and helpful when we had questions about the menu (e.g., about which wine he preferred). This was our first (but not last) time visiting Ser, and our initial foray into the menu was pretty basic. My wife and I split the jarrete de cordero (lamb shank), three tapas dishes (croquetas, pan Catalana, and berenjenas [fried eggplant]), and two cheeses. My wife's favorite tapas was the pan catalana, which was bright and slightly salty/sweet in flavor with great texture in the balance between the crispness of the bread and the softness of the tomato. I preferred the croquetas, each of which coated my mouth with the warmth of hot cheese and rich meat. The lamb shank consisted of a massive piece of meat on the bone, resting on a bad of mashed potatoes and slices of sweet peppers. The lamb itself was what it should be: thick, tender, and juicy with a rich, slightly gamey flavor. The addition of the mash and peppers made it even better, and I can say that this is the first time that I actually enjoyed peppers - before I just tolerated them, even in my own cooking. These peppers paired perfectly with the mash and lamb, and I relished every bite. I would be tempted to order this same thing again on our next visit, but I have to know what the meat paella is like. Anyway, it all paired perfectly with the Spanish tempranillo (that our waiter helped me select). I would be remiss if I did not talk about our to-go box. The lamb was too much for us (and by "us", I mean my wife, who was not up to the task of eating her share of the main course), and we asked for this to be boxed to take home with us. And I was blown away when the remains of our dinner were brought back to us already deboned (but with the bone included). I found this to be above and beyond, as I was not looking forward to cutting that meat off the bone (to put in my next day's lunch, which was glorious), not the least because I am not very good at doing this. And that we still got the lamb bone meant either stock for a stew or sharing a treat with our four-legged housemate. We really appreciated this!

They are located in a lovely old building with dark green/blue walls, a romantic glow from a fireplace, and backlit cases of whiskey lining the walls. It's the perfect atmosphere. There are two dining areas, the tasting room downstairs plus the upstairs. We sat downstairs, and it was nice, but I badly want to come back and try the upstairs. We came in January 2026, and every time someone opened the door, we were hit with an arctic blast that made it very uncomfortable. They should install some kind of short wall or curtain by the door to try to avoid this. However, the cold didn't take away from a 10/10 cocktail experience. Fitting for a bourbon spot, their menu has an old fashioned. What I love about them, though, is you have tons of choices of different bourbons or ryes for your drink. I went with the fanciest of the options, which has their signature private selection maker's mark. All the old fashioneds come with a touch of madeira and allspice dram, which make them one of the richer, cinnamonier old fashioned around. I loved it. It was one of the best old fashioneds I have ever had, and I am excited to get another. All told, I believe they had about 20 cocktails listed on the menu, so there's something for everyone, plus a few wines, beers, and a truly impressive N/A cocktail selection. Before leaving, I tried one of their negronis, because they infuse their gin with teddy grahams, and who could pass that up? It was delicious as well, really smooth and tasty. We had dinner as well. The food was a bit more hit or miss, but the hits were spectacular. The side onion rings are some of the best we have ever had. To make an onion ring feel special is pretty unique, and these are absolutely packed with flavor. So good. The gougeres are amazing, too. They have some kind of everything bagel seasoning and are so delicate despite being filled with pimento cheese. I highly recommend it. The caviar was forgettable, though - it had little to no flavor at all. The burger is also one I would skip. It was not as elevated as the gougeres or rings, and the cheeses they use overpower the other flavors. Based on the quality of the gougeres and rings, though, I still say this is a place whose food is worth trying. The space is quite small, so if you come during a weekend, a reservation will likely be needed. There is a bar, but it has only 4 or 5 seats and seems difficult to score. All the tasting room tables were occupied during our visit, and even with a reservation, we needed to wait about 10 minutes. Bonus points because they frequently do tastings and events that sound really interesting, including Blantons pours and historical cocktail tours.

This is such a perfect spot for either a date night or a fun night out with friends. The speakeasy vibe, the chic atmosphere, and the music (a smooth, chill house mix) all come together so effortlessly. Plus, being open until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays is a huge bonus. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time - this place stays busy for a reason. From my previous visit, I remember having a ravioli dish, what I believe was a braised beef, and their sliders with duck fat fries - all of which were incredible and clearly memorable since I was thinking about them for months. The sliders paired with those fries were honestly a standout. This time around, we had to get the duck fat fries again, and they were just as phenomenal as I remembered. The cheesesteak oysters were easily a 10/10 - fresh, meaty, and honestly surprising coming from someone who used to not even like oysters. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was well-seasoned (as expected, slightly chewy), and the fried calamari, which was light, not heavy at all, and paired perfectly with the sauces. The tuna tartare was another standout - super fresh, soft, and practically melted in your mouth. For drinks, we went all in. The Dirty Diamond martini with blue cheese olives was great, though if you like your martinis extra filthy, I'd recommend specifying that. The Hemingway Special had a nice subtle sour kick, and the vanilla mint espresso martini was strong (you can definitely taste the alcohol) but still smooth and frothy. The Mary Pickford with Malibu was surprisingly delicious - almost like a mocktail. The Paloma was solid, and the Code Red cocktail gave me slight cosmopolitan vibes. But the real star was the dulce de leche espresso martini--absolutely unforgettable. What really ties everything together here is the service. The staff - from the hosts to the servers - are attentive, welcoming, and genuinely elevate the experience. Overall, Code Red is one of those places you keep coming back to. Low lighting and live jazz on Wednesdays that was a little too loud for my liking as it was super difficult to talk over but otherwise pleasant. The drinks menu is a creative format and delivered as a newspaper with some history on the prohibition era as well as drinks popularized around that time and what said drinks are known for. What Code Red loses in innovative drinks it makes up for in a well crafted cocktail. Nothing fancy or frilly here just a solid list of mostly classic cocktails done right in a nice vibey setting. Prices are about on par with a standard cocktail in DC these days. Really enjoyed my time here! Perfect place for a date or girl's date. Overall friendly service and a really friendly bouncer.
