I walked in on a Saturday afternoon, four ladies were working on their clients and not one of them acknowledged me when I walked in. Out of respect I didn't interrupt anyone and simply stood in front of the empty reception desk. I stood there for about five minutes then I decided to sit on the white couch and wait for someone to maybe ask what I needed or if I had an appointment. The front door says "Walk-ins Welcome" so I figured I'd take my 8 yr old daughter for a hair cut. I sat for another five minutes and all four ladies took a look at me and none of them ever even said good afternoon let alone "how can we help you". I decided to interrupt and ask anyone if walk ins were welcome that day and none of them could answer. They all blankly stared at each other as if I had just asked for open heart surgery. I got my hair done by Tamara which she messed up on and when she tried to fix it, it was done half whit.so I paid her half... the reason for that is during my appt she scheduled 3 clients for a cut and curl while being over 30 weeks pregnant left me sitting At the wash station for 40 min..after 3.5 hours apparently there was a misunderstanding on a lavender color and my hair came out in 4 colors... when fixed, she over bleached NO TREATMENT in hair what so ever and when It was time to dry it she only Dried the front and left the back SOAKED W paint dye still in my hair.....Also her coworker decided to personally message me and start harassing me. read more

I love the ambience here and it doesn't hurt that I can grab a taco next door, before or after my appointment, at TJ Oyster bar! I always feel like I'm going to my girlfriends house when I'm on my way to an appt at il Trucco because everyone here is SO damn friendly and I get to relax and get my hair did with Tamara! She was a recommendation from a guy friend several years ago, and now we all go, friends, family, co-workers. If one of us goes the rest always follow, cuz, touch ups duh! The thing about Tamara (and we can all attest) she's not a rookie! Her specialty is color and she's all about respecting the integrity of your hair, she'll let you know right away how she can best accomplish your style/color of preference without compromising the structure of your current hair. I have thin wiry hair thanks to genetics but damn if I don't always leave looking good, with shiny ass healthy hair! Tamara tells it like it is and has once straight told me that she couldn't do a specific request because it would damage my hair more than it already was (Genetics!). Plus she gives great tips on affordable hair products and even offers to get them for you at a discount, she's super friendly and is always coming through with the advice and recommendations. I once didn't have enough time to book in advance of a Vegas trip and she told me what colors to get for a touch up! Who does that? I've strayed and been to other salons but I'm never as satisfied as I am when I leave after an appointment with her. I know that I'm getting quality service. For some reason all I could find were pics of me in red but she's also done beautiful blonde through balayage, she's given me Brazilian blow outs, etc... I was surprised to read a negative comment because Tamara has always been very professional. After reading through that specific comment and how she handled it... bravo girl! At 30 weeks pregnant and expecting special treatment, AND she didn't pay in full! What a skeezey Karen! At most salons that you go to, the stylist might be handling multiple clients, I've never left disgruntled because of long wait with Tamara and trust me I've been there, done that, nothing I hate worse than waiting on stylist whose over-committed. I've been going to Aracely for years when I want highlights or to go lighter.. If you want something sophisticated and elegant, she is your girl..I'll start by saying, I am impulsive and impatient, so I stray when she can't see me right away or if I want more of an edgy look (like crazy/fun colors like purple) what can I say, I have commitment issues when it comes to hair color haha.. but she is well worth the wait, just call ahead of time and make an appointment. Her salon is just beautiful, it is located in Bonita, and there is always parking.. The environment is really relaxing and all the staff are friendly and fun.. Aracely takes her time and pays a lot attention to detail, she does a great job and stands by her work with pride. She blends her colors beautifully, she uses good products, and my haircuts are always nicely blended and flatters my face. I get so many compliments when she does my hair. Having a hair stylist who listens to what you want is important. She recently did my eyebrows too (micro blading) and I wish I would have gone to her before I made the mistake of getting them tattooed. I love my eyeliner but wish I would have never tattooed my eyebrows, it looks horrible and I still had to draw them off with my dip brow and shadow after tattooing them Micro blading looks more natural.. I have thin eyebrows (with bald spots) from my teenage days when I use to shave them off .. You get what you pay for and its well worth the money, I've only gone for my first session about a week ago, so after my next one (4-6 weeks later) I will post pictures. You can see her work on instagram- microhairbyaracely and those are just the first session, the next session is where they are perfected.. Micro blading is amazing, it looks so natural.. It's a semi-permanent tattoo done by hand in hair strokes look.. not colored in (ewww haha) with a tattoo gun ..They last 1-3 years (which is perfect because sometimes you want to change your eyebrows.. I love the fact that she took forever measuring my face to give me the perfect shape and matching them.. She draws them on first, so you can have a say on any changes then gets to work.. After numbing my eyebrows, I did not feel a thing.. I've received so many compliments and my co workers and friends are all getting in line to get theirs done as well. Initially people don't want to spend any money but once they see how nice and natural they look, how long they last, and how much time you save on perfecting your eyebrows they know its well worth the money.. I waited a very long time to write this review but after seeing photos of my daughters birthday it brought me back to how disappointed​ I was in this salon. Last year, in the Fall, I made an appointment for a simple "express blow dry and curl" for my daughter and me. I also requested for our makeup to be done, I wanted everything simple. From the time I was 5 years old, I've only had two hairdressers​ in my life - I am that loyal. I've had several hairstylists​ for weddings and special occasions, all have been amazing! My daughter, too, has only had one hair stylist in her life. As well as my makeup artist, I've had one my entire life and I am so loyal to her - she is also highly sought after (including media and print). My daughter and I are loyal to our makeup artist and hairdresser because of their work and how excellent they are in their craft and talent in their work. When I made the appointment for my daughter and me​, I came in with the ​experience​ and knowledge of what a makeup artist and hairstylist should do. I specifically said, in regards to my daughter's​ makeup, since she is a teen, that I wanted her makeup very light and at the most a little foundation but mainly a light pink blush, a little eyeshadow, ​and mascara. The girl who did her hair also did her makeup and she contoured my daughters face! My daughter is tall, fit and athletic​, she does not need contouring and the overall look was just too dramatic for her age. It was nothing​ of what I asked for. When we came home we worked her hair a bit to make it fix it and I tried to lessen her makeup. As for my hair, I made the appointment because I simply wanted a blow dry and curl, and I wanted to relax and take advantage of the time of my daughter getting her hair and makeup and use that time for myself. I spent all morning preparing her dinner and now I wanted to rest just a couple hours before a ​guest came. This appointment brought more stress. My hair was a mess and again, it was supposed​ to be a simple blow dry and curl - something that I've done on my own hair since I was 15 years old (over thirty years worth). The girl who did my hair also did my makeup and that was even worse. She also needed me to find her a photo off of Pinterest​ to show her what I wanted. Who does that? I just wanted light shades of brown and a dash of gold, I even said feel free what the eyeshadow but to just keep it natural looking and nothing crazy with the colors. She tried to contour my face - didn't work. I will also point out that I had an allergic reaction to dried cranberries that made my face a bit pink. She kept pointing it out to her co-workers about my face. Again, who does that? Talk about trying to make a girl already feel awkward​ and down about her face, and isn't that what makeup is for? To help cover and calm the pink coloration​? My eyebrows were horrible, one shaped drastically different from the other. My lips were outlined and shaped horribly. My eyeliner was SO far off. There was no way I could show my face to the birthday dinner. And then the false eyelashes, she didn't let me select the type I wanted and wow, they were out there eyelashes. I came home, took off the lashes. Worked and tweaked​ the eyeliner​. Used my own brushes and makeup to decrease​ her makeup errors on me and to make me look a bit decent​. I really wanted to wash it all off and start from scratch but I just didn't have the time to, guest were arriving and I had to roll with it. This was a special day for my daughter, I shared that with them, and they almost had me in tears with the work they did. And, I paid an astronomical fee for the work they did on my daughter and I. Again, I've paid for hair and makeup for many special occasions, I know what to expect when it comes to fees for this type of service but at this salon I felt taken advantage of. I'm a local of this tow, for almost forty years and thought I would use a local salon, that would also be convenient​ because my daughters birthday dinner was at my home in Bonita. I wanted a little pampering for my daughter and I on this special day and it was nothing but that. I will never go here again. I would never suggest or refer anyone to go here. I've never left such a negative review in my life. I'm truly sorry. read more

However, not only was the hairdresser running late for my appt, she ended up doing baylage on my hair not telling me the price leaving me to pay $150 at the end when I thought I was going in for a cut and highlights (which were priced differently on their website). I messaged her on Instagram asking for some help/advice and never got a reply. Probably will not be coming back and definitely not recommending to anyone that I know. It's been a little over a month since I got my haircut at this salon and the reason why I've waited this long to write my review is because I wanted to give myself time to love my hair. Truth is, I can't love my hair because I'm so unhappy with the haircut I received. I made a same day appointment there since this salon is close to my home and saw it had great reviews. I went in and showed a picture on my phone of what I now know is a long bob. I'm not a professional in hair so I said I wanted that hair and knew it would be shorter in the back. As I saw myself in the mirror I was loving what I saw in the front part of my hair but had no idea what she was doing in the back part of my head. When it was done, to my surprise she gave me a short bob with uneven short layers in the back. I wanted to cry at that moment because it was extremely short and looked hideous!!! I just thanked her and was very polite to her. Now looking back I should have been honest with her and told her how u happy I was with it. After doing research, she should have asked me how short I wanted the back and not assumed or give me what she wanted. I've taken this as a lesson learned to next time bring a picture of what I DONT want since I understand neither one of us are mind readers. Now I'm anxiously waiting for my hair to grow out and get this fixed. I will never visit this salon again. read more

This was my first time going here for a hair cut as a walk in, I happened to get Yvonne who was extremely nice and very attentive and very insightful when it came to choosing a haircut that would better fit my needs and that would look good on me. She recommended a toner to help color correct some of the parts that we couldn't cut and I'm so glad she did, she really knew what she was doing and matched my hair color almost perfectly. read more
