Upon arrival, we were able to be seated right away but it took some time for our server to finally get our orders even though there were barely any patrons inside. An amazing spot for breakfast! Ilima Café is inside the Waikiki Resort Hotel. You enter the hotel in order to get to the restaurant. Inside the restaurant is light, bright, and airy. The staff were attentive. You receive a discount if you are staying at the hotel. If you need a restroom you need to ask the hotel front desk for a key and use the hotel lobby's restrooms. Menu wise is small but mighty with lots of comfort breakfast foods. I got a side of bacon with French toast and hashbrowns. My husband ordered the omelet which came with hashbrowns and rice. Everything was amazing! Came out hot and filled us up. They are only open a few hours in the morning, so be sure to wake up in time and order some delicious breakfast! read more

Our second breakfast since were disappointed with the hotels complimentary breakfast. We opted to try this place out. Breakfast here is only offered from 6:30am - 9:30am and they have limited breakfast meals. We opted for the following: Hawaii Loco Moco - 1/2 lb hamburger patty topped with a bed of rice covered in brown gravy and topped with 2 fried eggs. My boyfriend chose this. He said the loco moco tasted way better. Portuguese Sausage & Eggs - 2 eggs any style with either toast, rice or hash brown. This was my pick. I chose to get this dish with rice and have it with scrambled eggs. Ube Pandesal Toast - the bread was soft and fluffy and tasted really yummy! Only reason why I'm giving only 4 stars is because of the limited menu and limited service hours...however, FIVE stars to the service here! So friendly and welcoming. Their aloha definitely shines through! The menu is typical breakfast menu items but the star of this place I would have to say would be their pancakes!! Ughhhh soooo fluffy and soft and hits the right spot!! Menu items as mention is limited to mostly eggs, breakfast meat, French toast, and/or pancakes. They have a couple healthier options too like fruit and yogurt but that's it. Also, right now they only operate from 6:30am-9:30am, so just an FYI. It is very rare that I post a negative review. But, this was one of the worst meals I have had in a long time. The service was also lacking. When I came into the restaurant I was immediately seated. But, after a glass of water was given, I was forgotten for about 15-20 minutes. (Note, I was the only guest there.) Finally a worker sitting at a table close to me called over my waiter. He took my order and I ordered the blackened Mahi Mahi. The fish was dry and had no flavor. The sweet chili sauce was mixed with mayonnaise! The waiter never asked me if I wanted something to drink. Even the rice need soy sauce to have any flavor. I left most of my meal. Don't waste your time or money. read more

We were staying in Waikiki for couple days on the way from Maui to Kauai and this breakfast buffet was on our way to the beach, so we stopped by. Interestingly, there was no line like in other nearby places, so we gave it a try. Food was just normal regular breakfast stuff. Nothing special. Not very happy servers though, no aloha spirit here for sure. Speaking of which, since we were not staying in a hotel we had no vouchers to give and we paid cash. Was looking for a place to eat after the wait at Eggs & Things was disappointing. Stumbled upon this place and thought was a breakfast buffet for $15 cant beat this in Waikiki. I WAS WRONG. The server/host was great she is very friendly and greeted us immediately upon entering the restaurant. Found us a table near the buffet and immediately brought out our drink order. The food. It looks good but most things are flavorless. The french toast was covered in egg which was all I could taste. The bacon was old and covered in bacon grease. We walked here from next door to get breakfast. We didn't have a reservation and was on a waitlist for at least 30 minutes before we were seated. We looked in while we were waiting and many tables were left uncleaned while the servers worked the occupied tables. Looked like they were short staffed. Once seated, we ordered 2 Surfer platters and one papaya bowl. One platter had runny egg whites, so we returned it for another platter. The new platter of eggs and pancakes underneath were good. This restaurant is connected to Waikiki Resort and was very convenient for my boyfriend and I who were staying there. Their menu is quite small, but the food was pretty good. They offer a Breakfast Buffet for about $13 which has a variety of items like fruit, eggs, bacon, cereal, etc. Their waitstaff is okay. I ordered an omelette with cheddar cheese and bacon, and they came back twice to ask me what I wanted on my omelette again. I could also over hear the chef and the waiter's conversation: Chef: "Yellow cheese?" Waiter: "Cheddar cheese." Chef: "Yeah, that's what I said. Yellow cheese." That honestly made my day. read more

While walking from our hotel to Eggs 'N Things, we just noticed a small sign advertising breakfast buffet. I had already looked at the menu at E&T so for about $5 more per person, we would get as much as we could eat. We walked the line prior to committing, and the food was fresh, and the place was bustling (a good sign that food was turning and not sitting a long time). We were seated fairly quickly and Sung Min was our server for this dining experience. Overall, for a buffet, the food was good and hot. I like my scrambled eggs on the runny side and they didn't disappoint. The eggs were not dried out like some other places. The salad area was fresh and the fruit was sweet. The meat station was hot and the sausages had a crunch to the skin. I had some of the fried rice, which was good and the French toast wasn't bad. Overall I can't say anything about the food or locale was a miss other than the coffee refills didn't come as often as I'd like. The seating area is a bit small, however, they move pretty fast in there. A good place to try if you're looking to maximize food to value ratio! read more

Dear Mr. Vergara, I was surprised at the way this particular server handled a situation in your property at the Ilima Restaurant. My friend was smoking outside to adhere with the hotels policy and she went out and called my friend, your hotel guest, a bum. She was curt, impolite and very rude. When he put out the cigarette she proceeded to shoo him away like a homeless person. "A bum" is what she called him.  I feel very hurt and disrespected that this happened at your property since we are paying guests. I asked her not to be rude and all she could come back as a reply was "I'm going to call security!". Really? What did we do to deserve this treatment? Solely rated for their breakfast buffet. Wandered around Sunday (10 am-ish) and couldn't find any breakfast place that didn't have a line out the door. We ended up passing by this place first before doing a 360 and coming back after giving up. And I'm glad we did. For the price (~$14), you have an open selection of various fruits, jook, miso soup, oatmeal, assorted breads and muffins, sausages (link and another thick cut kind), bacon, eggs, tator tots, coffee, cereal, juice, milk, plain rice, fried rice, pancakes and a few other items I'm probably forgetting. Service is very prompt and if you arrive close to their breakfast buffet cut off, the waiters will let you know prior to cut off and also inform you that you still have access to the buffet - you just let them know what you want. Honestly... How great is that? You'll spend way more with less food options at other restaurants in the area so I really suggest trying this place out. Unless you're looking for a fine dining experience, then this place isn't for you :) read more

My boyfriend and I were walking to the beach one morning and wanted to grab some American breakfast on the way. We stumbled upon this place for breakfast, and I wish we were have kept walking! The eggs were really oily and soggy. Nothing was fresh, more like cafeteria food that sits under heat lamps (it really does). I'm actually a little angry we wasted our $14 a person for this horrible excuse for a breakfast buffet. I wish I walked a little further and spent my money elsewhere. I wanted to take the time to thank our waiter his name is Park. My boyfriend and I visited the Ilima Restaurant on May 1, 2015 and Park was our waiter and he was very nice and the food was fantastic. I had the teriyaki chicken with baked potato and my boyfriend had the steak with rice we both had asparagus. Then on May 3, 2015 our last day we went to the breakfast buffet and it was very busy and Park sat us and when we were done I asked him wow its busy and I asked him if he was Korean because there were a lot of Koreans in the restaurant and he said yes. I said I am Korean too and he starts talking to me in Korean I told him I don't understand he laughed and hugged me. He came back with the check and he said since me and my boyfriend came back he gave us a discount. I just love all restaurants in this hotel. There are two. This place serves breakfast and lunch. Have not tried lunch but, breakfast is good for the price. Try Corn Beef hash with rice. Corn beef tastes like it is out of a can but with rice? It makes it special. read more
