We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village this past April for Spring Break and we ate at this restaurant a few times and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SPOT for Dinner (see review) and for Breakfast (see review) Service: The Service all three times we went (twice for breakfast and once for dinner) was GREAT. Ambiance: It is clean and very nice inside and it overlooks the lobby/driveway at the heart of the property. BREAKFAST ========== I took my two sons here for breakfast and it was a very satisfying and TASTY experience. Here is what we ordered: * Loco Moco: My younger son loves Loco Mocos and his was a nice size and it was tasty (he finished it); I had a bite and I agreed with him. * Two Eggs/Bacon: My older son got the basic breakfast - two eggs scrambled with bacon and toast and he thought it was good. * Veggie Omelette: I got the veggie omelette and it was delicious and I had it with the potatoes. I would recommend this for the veggie lovers and for those like me who don't like meat with their eggs. DINNER ======== The four of us went here for dinner on one of our last evenings and I have to say it was AWESOME Italian food. * Pasta Alfredo: My older son (who is a picky eater) got this and he enjoyed it. The portion was huge so he couldn't finish it. * Spaghetti and Meatballs: My younger son (who is NOT a picky eater) got this and loved it...but the portion was huge and couldn't finish it. * Caprese salad: My wife and I shared this and it was a good size to share. * Rigattoni Aranciatta: My wife and I shared this thankfully and we finished it between the two of us. Love! My husband and I did a walk in on a Tuesday evening and had at most, a 10-minute wait. Fresco Italian is located on the Hilton property and you don't have to be staying at the Hilton to dine here. Located upstairs, there is not a bad table. From exterior seating to interior seating with big bay windows overlooking Waikiki beach and lots of twinkle lights from neighboring shops, you can't go wrong. Upon arrival, there is a nice section by the bar for waiting purposes as your table is getting ready. We got lucky and got seated in the room with big open bay windows which had an incredible overlook of the ocean along with a luau taking place. Our server was polite, checked in frequently with us and made sure to make it known that there were specialty items not on the menu including spaghetti and meatballs, alfredo and lasagna. We are so glad he told us this as we ordered 1 dish of spaghetti and 1 dish of chicken alfredo. Both items were spectacular and well proportioned. Our dishes came with the option to have fresh graded parmesan cheese which we took advantage of. For our starter, I had a basil based cocktail which was very refreshing and we split the caesar salad which was served in a chilled bowl and the lettuce was super crunchy - yum! Complimentary bread was served after our appetizer with oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was outstanding with the warmth and buttery flavoring. I highly recommend Fresco Italian. We got our table and from the very beginning there was an odd vibe that we were getting from the servers. They forgot our orders like 3-4 times, we would ask for small things like Parmesan cheese for our bread and we never got it, the server was talking down to the non English speakers at my table. The food was ok too definitely not worth the price. One of the bussers seemed to be irritated for cleaning our table even though we stacked our plates into small grabable piles (I work in the service/hospitality industry and know how to make the job easier). The busser let out a sarcastic "ugh... I guess I'll take all of them" after I asked if he could take 4 tiny appetizer plates when he was holding only 1 other plate. read more

We had a fairly large party so drinks and wine were flowing before ordering. Service was great. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their dinners. I recommend this restaurant. Not bitter with touch of sweetness and not real red. A good thing since it shows sept of flavor. Started with the meatballs. Sauce really good and gooy with melted mozzarella and fried basil. The meatballs were a little tough but had good flavor. Daughter had speghetti and meatballs and SIL had the chicken parm. Everything was delicious. Recommended for the food. Great Breakfast, But Be Prepared for the Stairs First morning in Hawaii and my wife and I stopped here because I was craving a Loco Moco. After checking prices around, this place had the best deal. One thing to note: accessibility is an issue. The only way in is a flight of stairs, which could be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. My wife has bad knees, and I suggested skipping it, but she's a trooper and said, "Let's just go slow." Even two people coming down told us, "This is the only way to get there." Once inside, though, the food didn't disappoint. I ordered the Loco Moco -- two fried eggs, two scoops of rice, a perfectly cooked hamburger patty, and brown gravy with onions. It definitely hit the spot and was delicious. My wife ordered fried rice with a side of bacon and toast, and she said everything was really good. Plenty of seating all around with windows that open outward for the nice morning breeze. If it weren't for the stairs, we might have come back for dinner (they serve Italian at night). We had our wedding at the Hilton and wanted to take some family out for dinner on property since we were staying there. This was a great choice. We went for an early dinner at 4 PM and were seated right away. The interior is nice and can fit a good number of people. We started with the calamari and it was great. For dinner, our waiter recommended the Penne Ai Quattro Formaggi with shrimp based on what I said I liked--it was a perfect choice. I loved it and finished the whole plate. We also shared a couple pieces of tiramisu, which we really enjoyed. Our waiter was fantastic--funny, easy to talk to, knowledgeable about the menu, and very friendly. Wow...what a great meal! The service was exceptional!! The menu offered a nice selection of meal options. The risotto was not actually risotto for those of us who have taken cooking classes in Italy. The drinks are a bit sweet, it came from a pre-made batch for HH. I got the fresco colada and fried calamari for an appetizer. The plate was large, fried fresh. The calamari pieces were quite large but it was cooked ok, I wish the pieces were cute slightly smaller and fried harder but still good. It came with a creamy mayo based sauce and a sweet and sour. One word summary of our visit - pleasant!! The ambience was relaxing, but not high end. Service was decent. But what about the food, you ask? I had a pleasant tasting, not exciting bowl of garlic shrimp pasta. Pretty basic stuff but well executed. For a price point in the low 30s, I would've expected a bit more shrimp and or some imagination in the dish. However, my husband's spaghetti and meatballs were not pleasant; they were outstanding! Tomato sauce was complex with a roasted undertone. I'm a hard critic of meatballs having grown up in Italian, and I would've placed theirs in the top five. Found this restaurant since we were staying at the hotel across the way. It is centered right where the shopping center is. It is a nice place. We made a reservation so we got seated fairly quickly and were seated by a window so there was a nice view and nice views. Randy our waiter was awesome and very accommodating. He had great suggestions and answered all our questions. The food came out quickly and was all very good and flavorful. It was the worst Italian restaurant that I've ever been to in my life. The fried calamari tasted like egg rolls fried in five day oil. Next came the bread. It was flat compressed. The Caesar salad was all right and then came the main course chicken Parmesan and spaghetti. The chicken Parmesan tasted like it was fried in eggroll oil the spaghetti sauce had no flavor and again tasted like it was mixed with soybean oil or peanut oil not olive oil like Italian sauce should be made. After days of enjoying the Hawaiian staples of mixed plates and grilled fish, we were ready for a pasta dinner a change of pace. Fresco is located in the Hawaiian Hilton Village on the second floor of the mall area, next to the actual hotel. It can be tricky finding it from the gigantic parking lot, so just head down and follow the crowds. Donner was excellent. We shared two pasta entrees. I like most kinds of pasta shapes but our 4yo son's favorite is always penne for some reason. Luckily the restaurant had two preparations. The 4-cheese penne with chicken is like mac and cheese and so creamy. The penne alla vodka is probably my favorite though - very tomatoey and creamy and you don't really taste the alcohol. Should be toddler-safe. LOL! For sides we got the grilled asparagus - very plump and juicy. Note they validate parking too, which is a great deal. They have a full bar as well, though I would probably stick to wine next time since cocktails were a bit on the fruity and sweet side. read more

This was the worst meal of our 5 days in Waikiki. We went for breakfast on the last day since we were staying at the village. The server had a very non chalant attitude and wasn't willing to help with recommending vegetarian options from the menu. We ended up ordering the veggie omelette and avocado toast. My husband and I came here on the first night of our stay. It was a little hard to find but I attribute that to me being a little buzzed already lol. The restaurant is super relaxed and was not busy whatsoever! It wasn't too loud or humid. The staff was extremely professional and kind. I will say that the bar noises are pretty loud which is unfortunate but definitely tolerable. They bring warm soft French bread with olive oil and a fruity balsamic vinegar dip as a starter. We ordered a Maui mule which was very good if you like pineapple! I also ordered an amaretto sour which is my absolute favorite and they NAILED it! For an appetizer we ordered the garlic bread and it was soooo warm and cheesy and perfect! If you don't love garlic then I wouldn't recommend it. My husband and I LOOOOVVEEE garlic though lol. My husband got the spaghetti which came with two medium sized meatballs. He said the pasta wasn't cooked all the way through all though barely so it was definitely edible. The flavor was very good and meaty but the meatballs were a bit dry. I ordered the mushroom risotto and it was ALOT. it was VERY mushroomey of course and I added chicken which gave it a nice break in the pallet. Otherwise it was very tastey and cooked just fine. For desert, we ordered the tropical creme brûlée which was mixed with pineapple and some other fruit. I absolutely did not like it but my husband sis sit was his favorite dish of the night!
