I was saved by Dr. Mahajerani. I had an appointment at another place and showed up and, "oops we had you on the wrong day." I could of lost it. So I run over to the mall and hit two other eye places that wouldn't help me because it was too close to 6:30 and I had no appointment. When I got to Image Eyecare I ran in, in complete panic ready to beg for an appointment. I didn't have to beg and it was 6:30 and I had no appointment and they made room to see me. It ens up I had infections in both eyes and she got me a prescription asap and told me to hurry and go to Target to get it filled before 7! I did just that and everything got resolved in 30min. Dr. Nguyen is amazing but some of their front desk staff has been unfriendly the past time as well as today. No smile, lack of joy even being at work. Busy place but I always feel like we are waiting. Maybe appointments are being booked too close together. A patient called and front desk couldn't find their record. Interesting that it wouldn't be where it should be. New location is lacking seating for sure as well. Almost makes me miss the Oakridge spot as well as some of the older front desk personnel. Wonder if it's just to get all the kinks worked out. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. I first went here in 2006 when my previous pair of glasses broke, and this was the only place that had an appointment available the same weekend. I was actually quite pleased with the initial experience. The doctor was very friendly and nice, and I thought the overall service was really good. But so much changes in a year... I went just a few days ago for my annual eye exam. I picked out my new glasses first because my vision insurance is such that I can get a good chunk of the cost covered each year. Anyway, as I was about to pick out a new pair of frames, I mentioned that I wanted to get the lenses REPLACED in my existing pair of glasses because they had warped and did not fit correctly into the frames. This is where things start going wrong. Apparently, instead of replacing warped lenses, they can be heated and bent back into the correct shape. So while I was picking out a new pair, the assistant was working on bending the lenses. Just as I had finished picking out a new pair, the assistant said she had some bad news--she broke one of my lenses, so I was out a pair of glasses. Instead of flying off the handle like I should have, I remained calm. She immediately put in an order for new lenses and put a "rush" on the order so I would get them back as soon as possible. Unfortunately, they do not make the glasses on-site, and the place that actually puts the glasses together is apparently not open on the weekend (which I didn't find out until I called on Monday). When I called to check on the status of my glasses on Monday, they said they had just sent off the order today. Great. So I'm already out one day without glasses, and because the place where they are assembled is in Sacramento, I will not get them until at least Wednesday. Since I cannot drive without my glasses, I asked the optometrist what she would do for me in the mean time. She offered to give me the prescription so I could get a pair of glasses at Lens Crafters, but that was it. I made it abundantly clear that I was not satisfied with this, and that because THEY broke my glasses, they should also have to pay for a replacement pair from Lens Crafters. She claimed that she had to work through the insurance (which incidently doesn't work at Lens Crafters), and that she would not help pay for any glasses I got at Lens Crafters. Because of the addtional $185 I have to pay for a temporary pair from Lens Crafters, I intend to take these people to small claims court. I asked for the lens to be replaced after I got my new glasses, not broken before they arrived. As a follow up: there was no "rush" on the pair of glasses that were broken. I received those glasses at the same time as the new ones--a full week later. read more

What a great place...!! I haven't gotten my eyes checked in years...and as soon as my new insurance kicked in, I knew I should make an appointment somewhere. I literally just randomly picked this from a list of optometrists in my area and I got lucky because this place is a gem. The staff is super friendly...my doctor was fun and made me feel very comfortable. It's appointments like these that make me wonder why I waited so long to go in for a check-up. I was impressed with how professional and fast everything flowed. I called at 4:30 and they had a spot for me to come in at 5, that's great service. I would definitely recommend this place...and it's right in the mall so you can go get yourself a lemonade from "hot dog on a stick" afterwards, yum-o! ;) read more

Told us it was better to get two pairs of glasses Instead of bifocal And the first glasses they showed us was $750.00. "Really" We have great insurance and still walked out with a bill of $650.00. I recommend everybody to image Eyecare because of there professionalism and there huge selection of frames. The staff is very helpful, and you even get $10 off when you refer friends and family. We did however have a mishap when one of the lady's was doing an adjustment on my sunglasses. They were left in the machine for to long, and that caused bubbles to appear on the frame. When I came back and told the associate, she was very apologetic, and offered to get in contact with the vendor and replace the frames for free. I was a patient her for years but then the practice was sold to new owners and everything went to hell. The doctor I saw had the WORST bed (or should I say chair) side manner I had ever seen. She didn't really want to listen to what I had to say and when I asked questions she was rather rude. They tried to sell me on an expensive procedure to have plugs put in my eyes for dry eye. I told them I had Kaiser for my medical but not for optometry. Well, when I got a second opinion from my Kaiser doctor they informed that the procedure is considered a medical procedure not an optometry procedure and is covered. The eye doctor should have known it was a medical procedure. I saved myself about $500, that's if I even need the procedure at all. They also keep calling us saying we have an upcoming appointment or that we are due for an appointment even after being told that we are no longer patients. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone nor will I go there again. read more

I have worn glasses for 30 years. Dr.Nguyen is by far the best practitioner that I have encountered. She was thorough, professional and very pleasant. In addition, I have tried contacts in the past, but since I am not adept at removing them, I have always eventually opted for glasses. However, Dr. Nguyen suggested that since I did not intend to wear contacts every day I should try disposable contacts. Not only would they be more comfortable, because they are softer they would be easier to remove. This turned out to be the perfect solution for me for those occasions when I might prefer contacts. It amazes me that no one had suggested this option prior to this. read more

I went to this store yesterday and had an appointment at 6. I was able to make it in sooner than I thought, so I called an hour and a half ahead of time to try and move my appointment up. The response I got from the receptionist was, no. You already have 6 scheduled. I said, "oh, okay. I was just able to make it sooner than I thought, so if I could do that, It would be preferred." She said, "you can come in just in case the other people don't show up". A good response to my question would have been, " sorry, all other times are currently booked". But whatever, I said okay & thanks anyway. So I show up 5/10 mins before my appointment, I walk up to the counter and I said hi. The receptionist then said in a slightly snobby attitude, "can I help you?" So I said, "hey! I have an appointment at 6(all smiles) so she looked at me all confused and said, "WHAT?!" ........... "I have an appointment at 6?" She said oh.... ok fill this out. Any way, it was pretty damn rude so I carried on with my appointment anyway. The doctor was GREAT! She was extremely thorough and helpful and gave me a prescription for my first pair of glasses. When I went back out and started browsing at the frames, the receptionist said to me, "you have a $10 copay" so I looked at her and said, "ok, no problem." I was near the desk when she told me...so it's not like I was going to run out without paying $10 bucks. So I continued to look at frames while she got my prescription ready..(because she said I can look while she got my prescription ready) still by the desk..5 nun later and she says, "so do you want to pay your $10 copay now?" Okay so now I'm completely irritated with her...not only is she rude, (and looks completely unprofessional) but now she's basically trying to make me hurry up and pay. What if I had chose a pair of frames? Would I still need two separate transactions? Wouldn't it make sense to wait and see if I choose a pair so I pay at one time? Any way, I said sure, and paid. She then said, " you can keep looking now, if you want" yea right homegirl. I'm buying frames somewhere else! I've been getting my glasses here for a few years now (when they were still located in the Oakridge mall). The employees here are friendly and helpful which is super useful for someone indecisive like me. Last time I came, one of the ladies helped me pick out a new pair of sunglasses. She was patient and listened to the sort of things that I wanted my sunglasses to have. I just picked up my frames recently and they needed to be slightly adjusted for my oily nose and big head. Another employee was able to adjust my glasses and I'm very happy with their fit. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my experiences here. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years. We've always had great service. Dr Nguyen is so nice and thorough. However, I recently went for a yearly checkup for myself and my daughter. We both got glasses and contacts. I also ordered prescription sunglasses. As expected, our order took about a week. No big deal. But my sunglasses were sent back for not passing inspection. (My husband and I have both had this happen in the past). The sunglasses arrived a week later and when I went in to pick them up, either the gentleman doing the adjustments broke the frames, or they were defective, as he claimed. They had to send them back again and order new ones. They did, however put my prescription lenses in a similar frame so I had something. Fast forward to today. I went in to get the frames I ordered and have the lenses put in them. The lenses did not even fit the frames! There were gaps between the lens and frame. The woman helping me seemed surprised I wouldn't take them. These sunglasses were about $650 for the frames and lenses. I wasn't going to accept anything less than perfect. The woman said she needed to yet again send everything back!! She then proceeded to tell me it was the lab's fault and because of my insurance, it's a different lab. So this is my fault for having VSP? I asked how they plan to compensate me. I spent over $2100 for 3 pairs of glasses and contacts for both myself and daughter and I believe I deserve not only better service, but for them to do something to make it right. I even donated two 60-day supply boxes of unused, unopened contacts and they kept saying they would compensate me, and nothing;apparently their multiple attempts to discuss some kind of credit didn't go well with the doctor because I never heard back. The woman helping me today could not even comment on what could be done to compensate me for the sunglasses because apparently only the doctor has the authority to do anything for customers. And she's not in on Sunday's. So now I wait probably another week, meaning I'll be going on 4 weeks of waiting for acceptable sunglasses. And because I already paid, I'm at their mercy. So after years and thousands of dollars spent here for 3 people in my family, I think it's time to evaluate who we entrust our orders to. Again, the Dr is knowledgeable, but apparently she does not empower her staff to help make things right with customers, or encourage them to follow up, as they claimed they would. read more

the worst place I've ever been to. Their services look great ONLY when no service is needed. I bought a high-end frame at the store. With normal usage one temple was broken in 9 month! I have to pay to fix it. When doing this, there was an apparent dent on another temple that shows it's going to break too, so I asked the manage to replace it on my expense. She showed great help, but when the glass was back, I found the temple wasn't replaced AT ALL. Instead, it's just re-mounted. They charged me 're-mount' fee. But this is stupid, and quickly is proved because it's broken one month later. I can't believe they sell $299 frame that can only be used less than one year. I have to pay another almost $200 to fix it. The manager never admit they have responsibility even they made the obvious mistakes. Don't make deal with this store, you would regret if you will. You will pay much more than you paid. read more

I usually dread going into the optometrist based on my past experiences at other offices all over San Jose. However, when I stumbled upon Image Eye Care Optometry at Oakridge Mall, I was greeted by the super friendly Karen and Dr. Kim Nguyen. As I looked around to see if any frames caught my attention, Karen was quick to pull up my insurance information and explain the benefits to me, which helped me get a better idea of what I would be paying for frames. As soon as Dr. Nguyen began my eye exam, she started thoroughly explaining everything she was doing and what she was seeing. Once the exam was over and I had selected the frames I fell in love with, Dr. Nguyen explained to me all the different options I had for my lenses and gave me a breakdown of my total. I was beyond pleased with my experience that day. I was told my glasses would take anywhere between 7 and 10 business days for them to be ready. However, to my surprise my glasses were ready for pick-up within a few days. Deseri, who I spoke to over the phone on the day of my pick-up was also very friendly and helpful. When I came in to pick-up my glasses, they had me try them on to make sure they were a good fit and felt comfortable. I am so happy I found this place, as it will be my new Optometry home. Had a very bad experience here. It took me 3 emails and 2 phone calls to get my prescription sent to me. They are required to provide this by law. Then, when they finally did send it, it was wrong and different than the trial contact lenses that they had me wear. Doctor Nguyen is the best Optometrist I have ever known, I had been going to another place for a few years and they failed to diagnose my Normal Tension Glaucoma.
