It's been 2 years and I decided to come back as things have been going back to normal from covid. They are at half capacity which was so much nicer than my last time here when they had so many people at once. I tried "pure bliss" again and it was awesome! It involves 30 mins of Korean scrub followed by a massage and a face mask followed with sprinkles of milk at the end. This time my overall experience was awesome as usual but deducted one star due to the massage therapist keep on talking to other massage therapist throughout the whole session. I have been to Immersion Spa a few times before too but my last massage (with Kelly) was awful and I don't think I will return: (1) Massage therapist did not listen to my preference upfront: I had mentioned I had pain in a particular area of my back - and she just ignored what I said - spending maybe 2 min out of a 55 min massage on it (2) Massage quality was really bad - I was drenched in awful-smelling oil and the therapist made very little effort to actually apply pressure / find hurting spots (3) The part of the massage where the therapist walks on your back was replaced instead with motions where she stood next to me and was doing motions that literally felt like she was wiping her feet on my back (no kidding!), with her feet repeatedly approaching my face. Overall good experience but I only did the day pass area. I liked the variety of amenities: hot tub, cold tub, dry sauna and wet sauna. Salt room had no seating so I did not use it. Big note is that swimwear IS allowed! I was hesitant to come here because on the website it makes it seem like you have to go nude but you don't, however most patrons were nude. The showers are basically out in the open. Only has narrow dividers. A little weird that you are only given one bath towel.. did not like that and there aren't any attendants available to ask for another one. But there is a good area for hair drying and getting ready to leave after spa time. Whole place is very bright/sterile feeling, so not really a good ambience, but still good experience overall. I have been visiting this spa regularly in the last 1,5 years and today was my last time here. I am sick and tired that EVERY SINGLE TIME I either have to confront people to kindly make them understand it's not a Starbucks but a Korean Spa and the fact that everyone is quite is not an indication that we are interested in their love life or skin care routine OR I leave frustrated because I had to submit to those mostly idiotic conversations as opposed being able to relax and recharge. As a guest, it's not my job to police the people who doesn't have manners. It's the employees job to clearly state and enforce house rules. I asked the front desk 4 times over the last year and there has been regretful comments and apologetic smiles but no change what so ever. I have friends deciding to stop going here for the same reason long time ago and I guess the blame is on me not doing it earlier. My understanding is that there are other spas in the Bay Area where receptionists are capable of explaining what is the expected behavior. read more

The best experience I have ever had. This place was recommended to me by my sister. I wanted to try out the Korean scrub before my trip to Korea to see if I would like it. Ummmmm....YES, this place is AMAZING! I don't want to give away too much but I will say that their facilities, service, and prices were well worth everything. This will become a bimonthly thing for me because I love it so much. It is very different from the regular massage places I have been to and my body has never felt better. I haven't had a massage since pre-pandemic. Long overdue! We had an impromptu girls' spa day here and we all got the 50 minute Swedish ($120). The rooms here are bare bones, not that you need amazing ambiance when you're face down in the head cradle, but just sayin'. My "Swedish" was ok: I would describe it as more a mix of Shiatsu/Swedish, with an emphasis on shiatsu. She was rubbing me down so long over the sheet, I thought that was all I was gonna get! I also felt there was a bit of a language barrier, and I was a bit surprised I wasn't asked about any medical conditions, what my areas of concern were, etc. These are standard at any spa. There are some nice amenities included with your treatment here: Himalayan salt room, sauna, jacuzzi and cold plunge. If you take advantage of these things, the price point is totally worth it. If you don't (and we didn't...due to the nekked rule, see below), then the price is fair. *Rules, rules, rules, the most blaring being: - No swimsuits allowed: I don't mind other people strutting their stuff in front of me. More power to them! I, however, might be a bit of a prude. I'm not down to be buck nekked in front of my besties, or really anyone except for my doctors or significant other. Maybe it kills the spirit of a "Korean spa", but a clothing optional choice would be nice. - No slippers allowed: While the place looked clean, the germaphobe in me still shudders going into a public bathroom barefoot, and anywhere where the floors have standing water. It'd be great if slippers were provided like other spas do. Tips are cash only. Jan 2026 day pass review: Prices keep increasing. It's now $45. It was $30 pre pandemic and $40 last year. The spa is small with a salt room, steam room, sauna, hot tub, and showers which are well maintained. If you want to relax, you need to go early morning during the week. At other times (evenings, weekends), women come in twos and threes and talk loudly and non stop. Second, some women do not respect the no-cell-phones rule. I don't want to hear your phone conversation in the changing room, nor do I want you holding a device that takes photos and videos while everyone around you is half or fully naked. Bottom line, management does not ensure the comfort and safety of their guests. For women, loud conversations and cell phone use ruin the experience. For men, some men use the spa to cruise and have sex. Eww. Unfortunately, many people lack basic civility in public spaces. So the responsibility lies with Immersion management to take action and create a safe space by 1) storing phones at reception, and 2) telling each man that sex in the spa is forbidden. But, that would take courage. read more

This place is not what it used to be. I was surprised that amenities were down, and the locker room was not very clean. Upon arrival there was a sign noting that the salt room was under maintenance (one of my favorite amenities) and it wasn't noted anywhere on their we website, or when they call to follow up on confirmation of the appointment to tell them it was down. When I entered the locker room area I was surprised to see what a mess it was. There were towels and robes left on the sitting area that hadn't been picked up. There was also a trio of very loud women speaking and not wearing masks. Although the rules were posted, there was nobody actually enforcing them. There were also dirty hairbrushes and hair on the counter of the vanity area. Treatment wise my masseuse/esthetician was very sweet and delivered an exceptional scrub, massage, wrap, and mask. However I did notice when the head piece was put on the table, the ring where you put your face smelled like moldy mildew. I noted the smell of the head ring to the front desk who was apologetic and the the nuisances at the spa regarding the ladies and the smell of the head ring. As I was waiting for my Uber she told me I had to get out of the spa as they were closing (despite her and other workers being in there) and I was not allowed to wait inside. I understand rules, but as a returning customer and having worked at a health club in the past I was a little appalled. read more

Wow - I can't believe I haven't written a review for Immersion Spa yet! It's my go-to favorite Korean-style wellness spa in the S. Bay area. I've been going solo and with friends for years and we always feel completely pampered and relaxed afterward. It's a true treat! Immersion has massages, hot tubs, steam room, sauna, cold pool, crystal room, scrubs, and mini-facials. It's a wonderworld of water and comfort. Showers, steams, bubbles galore, everywhere! I love the constant sound of water splashing and the warmth that saturates my body every time I'm there. Please note - Immersion Spa is a nude spa that has female-only and male-only sides. Don't let that make you nervous. You will be with many body types and ages, nobody cares or notices what you look like... they are too busy in their own zen relaxation. Mmmm, I need to set up another appointment soon. I'm in love with their Pure Bliss Plus treatment and feel like a Goddess when I walk out. It's the best. Glad I found a korean sauna on the peninsula! This place is small, with no common clothed coed spaces so it's strictly separated by gender. You can get a nice korean scrub down here to remove all the dead skin cells. It is a small space so be mindful of space! read more

I booked a couples massage at 9am for my partner and I anniversary. This is our first time at this spa so we didn't know what to expect. We have gotten massages before but the massage we got on this day has been the worst and most unprofessional massage experience we had. During our 85min massage, the masseuse took many water breaks, walked in and out of the room, talked to each other during the massage, made inappropriate comments to my partner, and overall unprofessional. Again, we've had massages before so we were expecting to have a relaxing intimate experience but it was nothing like that. It was difficult to feel relaxed because of everything that was going on during our massage. The masseuse walked out of the room to play music outside of the room because there wasn't any inside our room. They left the door open so we're able to hear the repetitive piano playing song. Since the door was open, other guests and masseuses were passing by our room and was able to see inside. We didn't have any privacy because they left the door open. The masseuse were completely unprofessional because they were talking to each other here and there throughout the massage. One of the masseuse took many water breaks throughout the massage. Also, made inappropriate comments to my partner during the massage and didn't seem to know how to properly give a massage. Overall, our experience wasn't the best because of the unprofessionalism we experience with our masseuse. We spent over $300 for a couples massage and it wasn't worth it at all. Wasted our time and money getting a massage here. We were highly disappointed and would not recommend getting a massage at this place. read more

I recently went to this spa and had one of the workers there physically assault me while I was trying to leave the spa. I was completely naked and she was slamming me into the wall, throwing me on the floor etc. I also got SCABIES during this same visit from this spa which was either from that worker or negligence in cleaning the shower. It was completely traumatizing can you even imagine getting beat up while in such a vulnerable state? I tried many times to contact management but they refuse to let me talk to anyone in charge. I've had my husband and many other friends try to contact and email a manager to no avail. If anything ever happens to you at this spa, know that they will protect their workers to the end and will harass you endlessly without actually letting you talk to any management. Obsessed with Korean scrubs! So happy that I found a place in the South Bay because the only only spot I know is in SF. Immersion Spa services both male and female but in separate sections. They also have a salt room which I've yet to try! They use Aveda color safe shampoo and the facility is very clean. Please note, you're fully nude as you'd expect when you're in the sauna, steam room and getting the scrub. Can't wait to be back! read more

We went here for a couple massage and a spa day for our Anniversary. Slightly pricey but a good experience overall. Remember to ask what to expect and how to prepare for the day if this is the first time you have been here. The lady I booked our appointment with on the phone was kind and told me this would be a completely nude spa in the locker room and that we needed to keep our robes on in the massage room. She also told me there are separate locker/spa areas for men and women (for obvious reasons) and that we will meet only during our massage. This information was helpful; all we had to do was drop our inhibitions, and we got plenty of time before the spa day to do that. One extra star for her service. The facility is clean and equipped with good-quality skin and hair care products. Make sure to go at least an hour before your massage appointment. Good size lockers, clean robes and towels. The steam room, the Sauna, and hot pool are a good size. I am giving one star less because the Salt room was Meh, and the massage lady wasn't focusing on my pain points as much as I wanted. My husband thought his masseuse could have been better with pressure and focus points. But otherwise a good experience. I'll go back. read more

Not a spa or massage person (weirdo) but got a $200 gift certificate from a friend for my birthday so I thought I'd book an appointment with all inclusive treatment with a price tag of $200. Arrived earlier as requested and got to use the facility. Started with jacuzzi hot tub and immersed myself in the ice cold pool for some pseudo cryotherapy then sauna and steam room. Enjoyed them all very much especially the cold pool. Korean body scrub performed by Linda and man I was dirty lol she scrubbed a whole layer of dead skin off me and I felt a pound lighter. The 100min treatment also included lavender body wrap, facial, and a massage. I enjoyed them all very much. This all inclusive service for $200 was totally a good deal and I forever changed my opinion or perception on going to spa or getting a massage. I plan to make this a regular thing. read more

The massage itself was pretty good in general, just they don't ask what pressure you want which I think is important. Was pleased after one hour , the. It was nice knowing I didn't have to go all the way to SF for a jjimjilbang. I was made aware of Immersion Spa when my massage therapist at another local spa referred me to the place. Immersion Spa had all the amenities I was looking for in a traditional Korean spa, such as an ice pool, jacuzzi, dry and wet saunas, and a Himalayan salt room. I MAY come back for a day's access to these amenities, but a scrub/massage service here is a definite "no" from me. I'm a huge fan of Korean scrubs, so I booked the Pure Bliss service including body scrub, collagen face mask, massage and milk rinse. I thought that the overall service was questionable, and there were several times I felt awkwardness and discomfort: - The massage table was uncomfortable when I was belly down during the scrub. Rather than there being a headrest as an extension of the massage table, there was a hole built into the table as the face cradle. That's fine, I've seen this type of table used commonly at Asian massage places. However, this hole was covered with a hard piece of plastic and thin towel during the scrub. This forced me to alternate facing side to side, which caused strain in my neck. - During the massage, my masseuse used one of those travel neck pillows as the cushion for the hole in the table. This configuration raised my head above shoulder height, so my neck joint was extended rather than in a neutral position. Again, this caused unnecessary strain especially when my masseuse was pushing pretty hard on my traps and upper back muscles. She didn't appear to be professionally trained with massage therapy to begin with. - The stomach scrub/massage was so rough that I felt like the masseuse was rearranging my organs. As I started walking to my car from the spa, I started feeling gassy. I can't definitively say my gassiness was a result of the way my masseuse was rough on my stomach, but I do know for sure that I felt totally fine prior to my session and didn't eat anything that would've upset my stomach on any given day. - The facial part of the service was very aggressive. I told my masseuse that the skin on my face was sensitive, but she continued beating up my face with an interesting technique. I even had a facial the day before, so I had a basis to compare the facial treatment from Immersion Spa vs. the facial I received from a reputable aesthetician. Lastly, she ripped the face mask off my face, which was the icing on the cake for me. When I got home I noticed some spots on my face with dried blood. read more

Came back a few times after and tried some other options/combos. Here are my updated thoughts: - Location - It is in Palo Alto and very safe. With SF being what SF is these days, I prefer a bit of more driving over to Palo Alto for a safety buffer. - Facility is newer and with Aveda products. It has 5 standing shower options (with one ADA option) and a number of traditional korean sitting shower options. It was decent with water conserving considerations. The steam room is nice and sauna is of a good side. the cold plunge is definitely a cold plunge. ha. - Okay. The scrubbing. First time I tried I thought it was too soft. After trying a few girls here, I realized that they have different levels of scrubbing gloves. I experienced the escalation of the scrubbing gloves with one lady, and she is pretty awesome. Too bad that I can't remember her name but she and I had an understanding and I saw the changing of the scrubbing gloves. lol That was some good scrubbing, slightly remembering the days right after my parents fight and my mom scrubbing me to death. some good old memories. - The salt room is pretty relaxing after the treatment. I have come back here a few times and likely would revisit for a long time. Tips here are cash only. There is an ATM on site also. So you might want to consider bringing some cash/debit cards for your appointment. read more

In what could best be described as an effective enhanced interrogation technique, the Korean bath scrub is life altering. I first discovered this in Seoul when someone gifted me a full body scrub and massage. Depending on the size of the spa, there are multiple restaurants, salt stone rooms, cold plunges, hot tubs, steam rooms, and saunas. Immersion spa is the fancy American version with Aveda skin products. First go in and unrobe. Then take a shower in one of their stalls. After this, depending on the time you have, hop in the hot tub. If you have extra time you could enjoy the cold tub (I skip this since I feel tortured enough), steam room, and sauna. Then a lady brings you back into a private room where you are scrubbed down like a fish who needs to be descaled. Unlike the fish, you are alive. Unlike love, it has to hurt to work. Let the person scrub you down in each inch of your body about 4 times. Your skin will come off in ways you didn't imagine was possible. This is performed with something called an Italian Cloth which I suspect has nothing to do with Italy. Following this your body is washed and massaged. After completion you can relax in the salt room and then apply their really nice Aveda cream. Pro-tip: skip the shampoo. I prefer to do this at home or in a salon. Your skin will feel like a baby's bottom for about 3 weeks. I'll be back, with friends. read more

Deep tissue with Helen This place did NOT test temperatures or enforce social distancing at the front desk. They did require masks. Locker room/bathroom area clean. I did not use the amenities since mask use was iffy among the patrons. I didn't see an attendant who would enforce that anyway. Massage room was standard. Helen communicated well through out the massage and adjusted pressure accordingly. The hot towels were way too hot off the bat and I jumped from the shock. However, This was the deepest deep tissue massage I have EVER had. I actually felt bruised for a few days later. Helen does some light stretching to get into get into your knots. . She REALLY tries to get your knots out. Fair warning. I was tense most of the massage because I was not used to this amount of constant pressure. At times it felt like there was not enough oil and she was rubbing on dry skin. Helen is excellent at her job though. I'm just not used to it. Jade room was not available. Boo. read more

I am giving them an extra star because they also have male services, which is hard to find in the bay area oddly! I love getting body scrubs and wanted my boyfriend to experience it as well, so we did a little weekend trip to the SJ area and came here. My body scrub was fine, nothing spectacular and not as professional of an experience as I had at the Pearl Spa in SF. No hate, it just wasn't as good of an experience and I didn't feel as clean, for example, my lady (idk the role name sorry haha) ended up focusing on one side of the body more than the other side. I think she was spacing out! My boyfriend said he liked his experience so I am glad for that The salt room had no salt in it? I was confused where the salt part came in, was it the walls? One of the saunas, I think the wet one, didn't get hot enough! I wanted it hotter! I enjoyed that they offered things like tooth brushes and just general body items for use, which I didn't use. Floor was dirty, no sandals given to walk around a wet floor with everyone's bare feet, nobody spoke English to be able to communicate any injuries prior to massage making it difficult to expression caution or worries, reception gave poor instruction on what to expect, not a relaxing experience or a positive spa experience. I had a random Wednesday off because I worked on Sunday, and decided a spa day was just what I needed. I've never been to a Korean spa and booked this one. It sounded similar to Kabuki Spa in SF, with its hot tub, cold tub, wet steam room and dry sauna. I arrived about 12 pm. Staff asks that you arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment; I had an hour before my appointment. It's a no clothing/no shoe spa. Very freeing and much better than peeling off a sticky bathing suit after dipping in the hot tub. The place wasn't huge but I saw one person prior to my 1 pm treatment and felt very much at peace. I got a stress release massage. The woman was great: no nonsense and relieved the tension. A silent massage (my favorite - I like chilling with my own thoughts). Great time and treatment was well done at a decent price ($130 plus tip at the time of this writing). I'd come back to try the exfoliating treatment. read more
