My husband & I ate at Imperial Buffet on Sat. Feb. 11 at 5:30 pm. We should have left before we sat down. Don't know why we didn't. Very crowded, noisy and room temperature was cold. Service was o.k. in that they removed plates as we finished each selection. However, at least 90% of food was cold and tasteless. Lots of selections (with some duplications in food distribution), quantities were ample. My husband ate very little and didn't feel well that night and the next morning. We will definitely not return. read more

Probably gave my son food poisoning, as he complained of stomach pain the night we ate there and then threw up at around 3 am. The food tasted pretty bad except for a few decent items, like the green beans and rice noodles. Much of it looked like frozen foods that are just heat and serve. If all you care about is food quantity, come here. Otherwise stay away. Oh, the passive-aggressive customer was a delight. She gave me sidelong glances, like a lioness guarding her kill, while piling her plate sky-high with crawfish. She left me one. Also, they have a very clever business model. They offer you all-you-can-eat, most of which you won't after the first taste. They then charge you $10 per plate of wasted food. Amazing. They get you to pay for NOT eating at their restaurant. They have a food-waste policy sign in the entrance, which had I noticed, would've been the second sign to run away, immediately after the smell. Never again. read more

Pre-pandemic there were more selections, food was hot but bland, drinks were asked to be refilled consistently, womens bathroom can be rated a 7 out of 10. However, had many incidents where the amount I tipped after dining in with my 3 toddlers, myself, and their dad was questioned as to why I won't tip more or simply "that's it?" (rude) ... Fast forward to Summer 2021 and this visit determined I will never come back here because the food selection decreased, the temperature of the food was cold, the taste was bland and not fresh (you can tell it's been sitting under the hot light for hours and don't catch the end of lunch menu into dinner because they don't seem to change out the food), drinks were not being refilled and seems the focus was clearing the used plates, the race/ethnicity of myself and my children and whether they look like me or not kept being asked/brought up which I felt was very inappropriate but with me being of Asian descent and understanding of the language barrier, I digressed and did not engage in conversation and instead told my kids to finish up so we can leave. read more

This is a decent buffet in general. Nothing too special but not bad either (what 3 stars means). CROWDED in general, and after a long day, I dont want to come and be given a plastic UGLY sticker that says "#22". After waiting 10 minutes, while this man elbowed me and I kept banging into people, a woman screamed at the top of her lungs "22 NOW". I almost left to leave but she called me just in time. During the meal, after finishing my glass of water, I was looking out for a waitress to come by so they could refill it. I raised my hand and she looked at me DIRECTLY in the eyes but then walked away. Do your job please... then the second attempt, she finally walked over and when I requested for another glass of water, she didn't say anything, just stuck her hand out and hand-signaled to give her the glass. This is DISRESPECTFUL and not the best service, but once again, average buffet, not bad. Finally, I was FORCED to stare at a nasty head in front of me with a gray mole. It was hairy and honestly NOT what I want to see on my Saturday night. DISGUSTING!!!! The head was constantly mocking me the entire time I ate, with every bite. Probably one of the most disappointing buffets I have ever been too. Went here on Christmas Eve. Such a poor selection. No cold seafood such as shrimp, mussels, squid, etc. The tiniest sushi area I have ever seen. Food just was not appetizing at all. Hardly any hot seafood selection as well. The crab legs had no meat. The ice creams were at the bottom of barrel. Only thing I enjoyed was the crawfish. They also charged $18.95 per person!!! read more

This place never disappointing, quality remains as good. Plenty of variety, hot fresh food were brought out frequently, except the crab legs, always empty tray, they bring out every 30min., and once they do, people are really fast at grabbing it. I actually had to ask the serving lady and she'd tell me when she brings it out. Decent desserts, raw bar and made to order sushi is nice. It is one of our favorite restaurants, we have to come here at least once a month. And we told every of our friends to try it, they all love this restaurant. Their service is usually good, and the decoration is pleasant. They have a lot of selections as a buffet restaurant, seafood, beef, pork, chicken, vegetable, crab meat, fruit, cake, desert and ice cream, even a sushi bar and oyster bar. The chefs will make it for you right away in front of you, even though the sushi chef is not too friendly sometimes. Not only Chinese food, they also serve western food. If you can, come here for lunch during weekday, it's only $7.95. Lately they raise the price, it is about $12.95 for dinner now. A must go restaurant! read more

I was torn on this rating. To be honest I left this place wondering if I was going to get sick. Although my friend raves about this place - I thought it was well below par. Yes there is cheap food and yes I absolutely love oysters and sushi, but the quality was low. To have crab, crawfish, oysters, shrimp, mussels, clams, chicken, pork, to name a few... and only pay 15$ for the buffet... you know quality is suffering. The oysters appeared to be west coast due to the lack of salty brine. They dip them in cold water before they shuck them so they taste cold. usually when I eat oysters, I enjoy them plain, but with these I had to put lemon, cocktail sauce, and horseradish in them in order to enjoy them. That should tell you the quality and taste. I prob should have stopped after the first one lol. The sushi was okay, I was suspect so I only go salmon-avocado, and then tuna-avocado. I've had better but it wasn't too bad. Crawfish were decent, flavor could have been better. Egg role appeared to be a lot of dough. Honestly, I can't recommend this place. A buffet should be someplace you stuff your face and leave full. I didn't stuff my face and I didn't feel full. But you get what you pay for. Good buffet, Sundays even though the lunch price is a little more expensive, it's worth it. Fresh food, lot of people, and is the sea food day. The sushi is made in front of you (they like a tip). Very rarely do I write a review unless the experience was exceptional great or completely horrific. We were horrified at our visit to the Imperial Buffet in Shrewsbury, MA. This has nothing to do with COVID-19, There was very little at the buffet and the items were in my opinion old or terribly cooked. I put an egg roll in my napkin and gently squeezed, oil soaked the napkin. I tried a few bites of the other items. I pushed the meal aside and figure I'd just eat fruit. Horrible was how to describe. It seemed like they had left over food when the shutdown started March 2020 and brought it back out and served it. I hope this was not the case, but it sure tasted like that. I put that to the side and figured okay I will have a scoop of ice cream. One taste and I pushed that to the side. It was crystallized. I called the server and other than the soda my wife and I both had the rest was for us uneatable. They first charged us for everything, and I complained. They reduced the bill 15%. Bad mistake, if they would have tried to make it right with us that would at least meant something. We will avoid this place and we actively tell folks never go there. Good selection of food choices and they do take precautions during covid. The only thing that's a distraction is families that come in and don't control there children. Kids are running around crawling on the floor and then going up and touching food. The establishment should be proactive in trying to stop this. "Authentic" Chinese buffet for a really cheap price. Only place my parents would want to eat at whenever they visited me. Food: As authentic as a Chinese buffet could get. They have all the staples you find at a Chinese buffet from Chicken and Broccoli to Chicken Alfredo. You get the full variety of food stations: Chinese, American, dessert, sushi and raw bar. I think the menu is pretty much represents all decent Chinese buffets, especially in this Shrewsbury area - what they have that is the real kick in the bucket is the crawfish and they don't skimp on the quantity unlike most buffets. Ambiance: Never too rowdy or crowded, this place is great for the family. The layout could use some work, but definitely try to get a table closer to the buffet line since anywhere outside would require you to walk around a few walls, a minor annoyance. Service: Fast and friendly, typical of a Chinese buffet. They will clean up your dishes when you walk away and they will refill your drinks whenever it's empty. Here's a tip: give the sushi chef a lil extra tip and he'll reward you with the specials - huge plate of different rolls that you can't request regularly. $5 or $10 would do just fine. My friend suggested we go here. So I tried to be a good sport and agreed to go. When I steppped into the buffet area, the food trays were basically feeding troughs filled with downright disgusting greasy food swimming in gelatinous sauces. I don't even know how long the food was sitting outside. Definitely didn't look fresh. Speaking of fresh, the made to order sushi did not look or taste right at all. When it first opened I was very impressed. Over a couple of years and going more than I would've liked to (my kids love it), I'm less and less of a fan. On the positive side - the sushi makes it the best bang for the buck possible. There are plenty of quality Chinese selections. The crab legs are good. The fish pond is a big hit with the kids, friendly staff quick with the drinks and clearing dirty dishes. Big booths and tables - both good for a buffet. On the negative side - you don't need to be in the restaurant business to know that a substantial portion of their provisions are not top grade - sometimes you can see it in the fruit, the cakes or in some of their basic American/fried foods. Let's put it this way, a pizza slice is something I'm not getting at IB. Kids are priced based on age - I'm just wondering is besides my kids getting older, have they raised their prices? There's nothing really wrong with this buffet. For 20 bucks including unlimited free refills, its a pretty good deal especially if you are a college student with a crappy job. I come here about 4 times a year to celebrate ending of semesters, ending of school years, and twice in the summer just to eat and hang with friends. Most of the foods here are pretty delicious, but some you might wanna stay away from, I'll leave that for you to decide. Live life and try it, right? who knows, you might end up liking it. You get six long tables of different kinds of foods- like- seafood, everyday assortments, fish, beef, CRAB LEGS, shellfishes, fruits, vegetables, stuff you find at Chinese-takeout restaurants, pizza, fries, etc. What is really awesome and why I gave them an extra star is because they have a sushi bar and raw seafood bar for no additional cost, but they do encourage tips (there's a big jar right in front of your face). Every time I get sushi here, it is always warm and delicious. Nothing extremely fancy like restaurants that specialized in sushi, but for 20 bucks, who am I to complain? Not me I say. They kinda give you the check too soon like they want you to leave, but other than that, you should come here with friends and just enjoy the food and drinks. Tired, worn and..I'm sorry, booth seats that have no more padding should not be allowed to be sat in. You sink in and you can't get back out no matter how much you try. Now for the food. The crab rangoons that I raved about were soggy and most were broken apart. The chicken in 3 dishes I tasted was dry and tough. The only thing that was good was the fried rice. As far as chinese food goes? It is very mediocre. There are better places on that street, much less that area. But it is a buffet all day, instead of just lunch like many places, and there are some real gems in there. If you're a college kid it is definitely worth it. You can pack six million calories in at any time (and they'll let you stay late if you've got a well behaved party going.) We must've been there past closing a dozen times while they cleaned up around us, just drinking and chatting after gorging. The crab rangoons are inedible in my opinion, but for dinner they have all you can eat crab legs. The quality varies somewhat, but when they're good you'd pay 20 bucks a pound (or more) for them elsewhere. Dinner also has a fresh grill section for meat and fish which is probably the best (and healthiest) food they have. There's also a made to order sushi section, but if it's packed you may have to wait a while. It's not great, but for buffet chinese sushi you could do worse.
