Saturday late night (06/13/2026) came to In-N-Out as the designated driver for the homies. While everyone else was living their best late-night life, I was out here responsibly hydrating and making sure nobody tried to fight a street sign. Plot twist: someone stole my order. By the time the mystery burger bandit struck, the kitchen was already closing. I thought I was cooked. Instead, the staff came through and made me an order of Animal Fries since they couldn't make another burger. So technically In-N-Out forced a cheat day on me. Honestly... I needed it. Been eating too clean lately! Bonus points to the security guard who made me throw away my cigarette because they were closing and there were no "In-N-Outs" allowed. At first I was annoyed, then I realized he's probably helping me live longer. Respect. I honestly came here because I missed the original In-n-Out back home. I have to say, my last visit here was just very mediocre. I ordered a hamburger, Animal Style, with extra onions, and also got a Strawberry shake. The burger tasted okay, but it was also kind of sloppy and mushy. It was also really busy when I got there, there were 30+ orders ahead of me. So thinking, the workers must've been super busy and may have missed the details of what the usual burgers quality should be like. The register staff also seemed kind of uninterested, except for one young lady that was calling out the orders. She had enthusiasm. But when it came to my order, it was another shorter girl with glasses, and she had no smile and just didn't want to be there. So yeah, okay visit this time around. Insanely busy on a Thursday night, but it sounds like it's that busy all the time. Line out the door moved quickly, but the seating situation inside was chaotic at best. You really have to watch who is almost done and then race someone else to the table, partially because people see how busy it is, rush to get a table before they've even ordered, causing huge backups while people with food in hand look desperately for a place to eat their meals. Unpopular opinion, in-n-out is just ok. The burgers are just fast food burgers, and the fries are lackluster. We will probably come back anyway, because there's nowhere else in Fisherman's Wharf can you feed a family of six dinner for $60, and have all the kids leave as happy as they do when we go to in-n-out. read more

Y'know... after how hyped this was, I think I was let down by the actual burger quality. I rarely say this, as someone who always thinks that the *magic* in eating out is the fact that someone else made you the food with passion... but I think I could have made a better, cheaper burger (and almost in the same amount of time! had to wait a while for the burger, but it was admittedly busy) Culver's offers a similar experience, but with more menu variety and better quality. Confusing because there are two doors for entry but only one side is the line up (the side on the right); there is a security guard helping to direct the line which is nice. Make sure you know what you want before it is your turn to order, and make sure the staff are clear about your order as my cashier was slightly confused. I love getting my burgers animal style for extra flavour. If you have multiple people in your party get someone to grab seats while ordering and waiting for your food, it is VERY busy inside. Dont recommend eating outside as it can get very windy. Burgers are good and not too heavy and oily, but fries are slightly powdery and dry. Super fast service for one of the busiest branches of In-N-Out in the Bay Area. The restaurant will be very loud for this restaurant that is often over capacity for how popular it is and in a very touristy area of SF. Be prepared to catch an open table as people leave because they are often always at seating capacity. Always feel free to ask for extra special sauce (spread), a cook hat, and some stickers! 5/5 - 3x3 Cheeseburger - A California classic! We modified our burgers with toasted buns, chopped chilis, grilled and raw onion, and mustard-fried patties (no pickles). I appreciate that this in-N-Out establishment hasn't decreased the size of their patties like I have noticed from some other branches. 5/5 - Animal Fries (Well-done) - Highly recommend mixing the cheese, bacon, and onion mix that is added on top of the fries. This is my first time dining @ this particular In-N-Out Burger, located on Fisherman's Wharf. During my many visits throughout the years to San Francisco, there was never a shortage of patrons eating here in particular. Of all the many options for dinner surrounding Fisherman's Wharf and the pier, I was kind of left flabbergasted when my toddler requested for In-N-Out Burger. I made sure to confirm a few more times and ended up obliging. Upon entering, the burger joint is BUSY. Patrons are eating and conversing while others are standing around with trays of food [in hand] with nowhere to sit. Seating is always kind of rough whenever we visit other In-N-Out locations, especially if you are hoping for booth seating, but this SF locations takes the cake. People are left standing around, hoovering over diners just waiting to pounce on a table. Be assertive because shyness will get you nowhere here. Surprisingly, placing of our order vs the time we actually received our food was a lot quicker than I anticipated. The staff here are QUICK!! Food is great. Burgers were neat, made according to our requests, and very filling. The hot chocolate was a nice add on for my toddler to enjoy and carry as we made out way back to the car, as it warmed up her tiny little hands in the blustery cold. Be advised that the hot chocolate is not provided at child's temp so order it and leave it off to the side to cool as you enjoy your meal. 4 stars overall but I had to deduct 1 due to the bathrooms not being located inside the eatery & because the restrooms were stinky, filthy, and possibly nauseating for those who are overly sensitive. read more

Although you can find Five Guys on a basketball court in San Francisco you wouldn't find Five Guys burgers restaurant. Then there is an one and only fast food place which gets lines out the door. If I had only one fast food choice and place in San Francisco it would be In-N-Out .These all American burgers are the King of fast food ( Sorry Burger King and Shake Shack). These burgers are sometimes better than most places in SF. People come in from all around the world and around the USA and wait in line for their burgers in the Tourist Trap of San Francisco and wait for their number to be called. Although In-N-Out no longer serve 6-7 they do serve in a cup 7up. They have a minimalist menu and I usually come here for the burgers and their secret sauce . I wanted to try In- N-Out again after rumors floated around the Headquarters were moving to Tennessee ( Still Headquartered in California for now ). I had the double double burger with animal style sauce and cheese. It was tasty and the bun was fresh. I then got the fries done animal style. I do not like In-N-Out fries without the animal style sauce. The fries alone are bland and have no taste like some in SF but the animal style sauce makes them mystical magical. As a foodie I usually don't post much fast food recommendations but if you have a guilty pleasure for fast food in 2026 In- N-Out is the spot. What's great about this In-N-Out is you'll feel like a tourist even if you're not one because it's packed with tourists in the most touristy part of San Francisco! My daughter LOVES In-N-Out and we had to stand in line to order our Double Doubles, Flurries and hot cocoa (da bomb for cold weather!). Then, stand by tables with families eating their burgers, so you could sit when they're on their way out! The call numbers were in the 80s and our number was 19, but that gave us enough time to watch a family eat and leave, lol! A must-stop whenever you're driving through in California. In-N-Out Burger is simply iconic. Without a doubt, these are some of the best burgers in the United States. Our friend was in town from Dubai and his favorite spot in the bay area is In-n-out! I, being the artists eating chick who hates chains in general, had never been but since he was so keen on it we decided to go all together. Well, my almost 7 year old said it was delicious. While my husband was getting food, i went to the security guard posted at the door. I heard the bathroom was outside (down the block and you need a code i might add) so I said to him "can you please tell me where the bathrooms are" he stared at me for a bit..long enough to think he didn't hear me. I do believe I have made it clear that I am a HUGE fan of In-N-Out!!! Every time I'm in Cali I have to find one and enjoy. Coming from Charlotte to the West coast doesn't happen to often so I really do have to get my fix when I'm here. This location is down in the Fisherman's Wharf and is super busy. This is the first location I've been to that doesn't have a drive thru, so to see the busyness inside only was intense. This chain gets busy like Chick-Fil-A would. But they do a GREAT job handling all the constant people. I ordered a traditional cheeseburger and per usual, it was amazing!!!! They just make a good burger. I don't know how else to explain it. Is it the best burger in the world, no, but it's a great burger that has a taste all it's own. I only got a burger this trip, I was too full from all the other food I'd eaten before coming here lol. I came here before 11am and there were quite a few people inside already. I guess people were skipping breakfast and going straight to In-N-Out. I was still able to get seating inside at this time. There wasn't much of a line and my food took about 10 minutes to be ready. I got the double double burger and it was delicious. The toppings tasted fresh and the cheese slices were nicely melted. The patties were juicy, tender and thick and I thought they were much thicker than other fast food burgers. The buns were soft and held everything in the burger perfectly. The animal style sauce made the burger taste so flavorful. Once I got to the bottom of the burger, it was kind of a mess with sauce dripping everywhere so watch out for that. I wanted my fries a little bit crispy so the cashier recommended that I get them light well. They were a little crispy and some of the smaller pieces were really crispy. However, most of the fries had a dry, tough and leathery texture to it which kind of felt like I was eating cold fries even though they were warm. It tasted fine when I ate them with the animal style sauce. The place was really clean. It didn't have a parking lot or drive thru so walk ins only. There were no restrooms inside either but there was a sign with a code at the counter directing people to use the public restrooms outside. read more

We got a first timer over here! I had a trip out to the west coast and had gotten a lot of advice of places to go and see. In-N-Out was at the top of those lists. As a lover of all things burgers, this was a must-do spot for me. The location is pretty cool with everything around it in SF Proper and Fisherman's Wharf. It was only a quick ride from my hotel and it made it all too easy to head over for some burgers after work. I got a couple of burgers. (Double Double Animal Style) and some fries well done. For most people who grew up on the east coast, this is probably a usual, run of the mill burger. Seeing as I didn't grow up in SF and nowhere near a In-N-Out for thousands of miles, this was a cool experience. I thought the burgers were great! They had really great flavor and the sauce on them was excellent. I liked that they didn't seem small or skimped out. The prices were pretty standard so I think there was good value here. The fries were decent. I didn't get them animal style but instead got a side of the spread to dunk them in. I had already heard the fries opinions prior to my trip so I was prepared. A staple fast food burger chain that's a must get when visiting SF! This In N Out location is by the Fisherman's Wharf and I ended up coming two nights in a row with my colleagues after wrapping up a day of conferences and meetings. Being from out of town and haven't had this in a while I was rusty with my ordering. I got a cheeseburger combo the first night and found it hard to know what to get in my burger as I didn't see any topping options. Safe to say that the first burger I had on night one was not as good as the one I had on the second night. It was good, and I got extra spread on the side (as recco'd from my American colleagues), but my next day's order was even better! On the second night I decided to get a double double with lettuce, tomatoes, and whole grilled onions. I forgot to get pickles and whole raw onion as well, but oh well. Got my fries cooked medium well. I'm not a fan of animal style so medium well fries were the perfect crisp and softness. However, I could probably skip on their fries, as they're still not my favourite. The burger however, hit the spot to the T! The double meat patty really brings out the flavours in the burger since the meat to bread and topping ratio is now exactly how I like it. I also decided to buy their In N Out tshirt as a souvenir and it says Fisherman's Wharf location on it! Super cute shirt to remember my trip by. A rare find to get any sort of good value in Fisherman's Wharf. Well, here it is. With so many great options why would you eat here? Either your a local your your broke or you hate seafood and crab. Its really none of my business why your here but a dollar saved here is a dollar you can spend elsewhere and you've got my blessings on doing that. Food quality is great. Every time. Its busy and still very clean. To this day I'm unaware of ever posting a review for any InNout for less than five stars. This is no exception. I like a double double or a double meat single cheese - animal style. If your feeling health conscious you can do 'ketchup instead.' If you really want something a little different you could order 'whole onion.' If you really like veggies you can order 'extra everything.' In N out is always very generous. Unique to this location is the Plaza Alley where two tables give a perfect view to the people cooking up the burgers. I like to think of it as a luxury chefs table experience. On a warm summer its my favorite spot. In all reality if your a tourist please don't eat here. They have street vendors that serve small crab meat on the go - its the cheapest way to have a taste of that. Boudin if you want a casual or sit down experience - and that one is also budget oriented. If your really into saving money this is the place. If you've got a huge family it might be the way to go. But if your on vacation - I think the best way to do that is shorten you vacation and look at money as no object for the time you do stay. read more
