Super fast service for one of the busiest branches of In-N-Out in the Bay Area. The restaurant will be very loud for this restaurant that is often over capacity for how popular it is and in a very touristy area of SF. Be prepared to catch an open table as people leave because they are often always at seating capacity. Always feel free to ask for extra special sauce (spread), a cook hat, and some stickers! 5/5 - 3x3 Cheeseburger - A California classic! We modified our burgers with toasted buns, chopped chilis, grilled and raw onion, and mustard-fried patties (no pickles). I appreciate that this in-N-Out establishment hasn't decreased the size of their patties like I have noticed from some other branches. 5/5 - Animal Fries (Well-done) - Highly recommend mixing the cheese, bacon, and onion mix that is added on top of the fries. We got the fries cooked well-done which delayed the fries getting soggy from the toppings and gave more crunch in its texture profile. We got a pretty good serving of toppings on our order. Served fresh as expected.

This is my first time dining @ this particular In-N-Out Burger, located on Fisherman's Wharf. During my many visits throughout the years to San Francisco, there was never a shortage of patrons eating here in particular. Chalk it up to being super affordable, a quick meal that tastes great, or simple due to being familiar and convenient... Of all the many options for dinner surrounding Fisherman's Wharf and the pier, I was kind of left flabbergasted when my toddler requested for In-N-Out Burger. I made sure to confirm a few more times and ended up obliging. Upon entering, the burger joint is BUSY. Patrons are eating and conversing while others are standing around with trays of food [in hand] with nowhere to sit. Seating is always kind of rough whenever we visit other In-N-Out locations, especially if you are hoping for booth seating, but this SF locations takes the cake. People are left standing around, hoovering over diners just waiting to pounce on a table. Be assertive because shyness will get you nowhere here. Surprisingly, placing of our order vs the time we actually received our food was a lot quicker than I anticipated. The staff here are QUICK!! Food is great. Burgers were neat, made according to our requests, and very filling. The hot chocolate was a nice add on for my toddler to enjoy and carry as we made out way back to the car, as it warmed up her tiny little hands in the blustery cold. Be advised that the hot chocolate is not provided at child's temp so order it and leave it off to the side to cool as you enjoy your meal. 4 stars overall but I had to deduct 1 due to the bathrooms not being located inside the eatery & because the restrooms were stinky, filthy, and possibly nauseating for those who are overly sensitive.

In-N-Out by Pier 39?! Yep! Just there for a milkshake before hitting the road. Great service, as always. Restaurant was clean and bright. Yummy shakes!!

San Francisco has limited fast food places and chainstores. You would not find a Walmart in San Francisco. You will also not find many fast food places like Wendy's. Although you can find Five Guys on a basketball court in San Francisco you wouldn't find Five Guys burgers restaurant. Then there is an one and only fast food place which gets lines out the door. If I had only one fast food choice and place in San Francisco it would be In-N-Out .These all American burgers are the King of fast food ( Sorry Burger King and Shake Shack). These burgers are sometimes better than most places in SF. People come in from all around the world and around the USA and wait in line for their burgers in the Tourist Trap of San Francisco and wait for their number to be called. Although In-N-Out no longer serve 6-7 they do serve in a cup 7up. They have a minimalist menu and I usually come here for the burgers and their secret sauce . I wanted to try In- N-Out again after rumors floated around the Headquarters were moving to Tennessee ( Still Headquartered in California for now ). I had the double double burger with animal style sauce and cheese. It was tasty and the bun was fresh. I then got the fries done animal style. I do not like In-N-Out fries without the animal style sauce. The fries alone are bland and have no taste like some in SF but the animal style sauce makes them mystical magical. As a foodie I usually don't post much fast food recommendations but if you have a guilty pleasure for fast food in 2026 In- N-Out is the spot. Rest In Peace to "6-7 "which is now in In-N-Out burger "heaven "and if you like to play with data and numbers a few blocks away from In-N-Out on Jefferson and Mason streets there is a "7- Eleven" There are a few fast foods places because of San Francisco "laws "go to In-N-Out Burgers where the red and white interior color scheme looks like it's Holiday in December with "Santa Claus "the fries and burgers are saucy and cheesy in SF with Animal style "sauce"

What's great about this In-N-Out is you'll feel like a tourist even if you're not one because it's packed with tourists in the most touristy part of San Francisco! My daughter LOVES In-N-Out and we had to stand in line to order our Double Doubles, Flurries and hot cocoa (da bomb for cold weather!). Then, stand by tables with families eating their burgers, so you could sit when they're on their way out! The call numbers were in the 80s and our number was 19, but that gave us enough time to watch a family eat and leave, lol! As expected, burgers were good, fries were great and one guy tried to wipe our table and clear them to also keep traffic moving!

One of the few burgers I actually enjoy. It's not super heavy but still hearty. I always ask for extra sauce. It gets incredibly busy and loud though, lots of families/kids coming through.

Havent had in n out in a minute since over maybe 1-2 years been super locked in on my diet and healthy journey. Was around fisherman wharf last night so I thought I'd swing by and try an in n out double double with animal style fries and they never disappoint. Cheat meal was a good day.

Suuuuper busy establishment as it's the only one in this very popular area Took away a star due to our milkshakes being watery/melted because we watched them make all the shakes prior to food being ready (which food was taking 10min due to the rush) First and last time trying their animal style fries - just didn't do it for me and wish they did since I don't care for their fries much at all (more $ to save so thats ok w me haha) Their burgers are why I keep coming back! Superior!

Super busy location! This restaurant was smaller than other locations, and seating was at a premium. Lines to place orders, lines waiting to pick up food, lines to get to the soda machine. I was visiting San Francisco with four friends who had never experienced In-N-Out before. Not really a great experience for their first since it was so noisy and crowded. Our food was excellent, as always. Employees were great.

the sign not really near the place. LOL.

We've been to maybe 10 In-n-outs in our life and we live in Chicago. We make it a priority. It's the same as every other one: -I always consider buying a shirt but then don't -Place is packed where every seat is taken -Despite an army of workers, Food takes a while for fast food -Price is cheap -Burgers are absolutely amazing -The fries are just meh. - my wife would drink the sauce if she wasn't embarrassed by doing it. - I don't feel disgusting afterwards like I do at other burger fast food And there it is .... every single time....

Well we are from Maine visiting San francisco for the upteenth time. We finally decided to try In & Out Burger. We had the #1 Double Double combo meal with french fries The burger was very good and tasty. The french fries not bad but Mcdonald's are better. Look at one of my pictures for information. Did you know that?

Very busy on a Saturday at lunch. Hard to find seating. Enjoyed the burger and fries were ok.

Ehh it pains to leave a bad review for any in-n-out, but this was probably the worst one ive ever been too. The food is always great, however this location is way too busy for its size (and I went on a Tuesday). The line was out the door and no seating at all. They also don't move as quick as other locations. It took a while tonget the order

Some may say what can you expect from a franchised small business. But a business is a business…read moreregardless of what type. I write today not because I expect five star customer service or food at Subway, but because I expect common behavior such as explaining a menu at a minimum at any food business. I didn't think it was out of the ordinary that with three staff (all assuming they were family members who run and operate the business) were there and no other customers, it took them at least five minutes to just acknowledge me. So, I just watched and listened as they continued chatting away with each other and standing at the register. When finally, a gentleman came to ask my order. I ordered and he was having a phone conversation so kept repeating the same question. That's all ok and I can get over it. However, it was when the second customer came in. He asked if I ordered and I said yes. Of course, they all took their leisurely time to ask his order. He orders the new item of the nachos on the menu. As he was trying to request toppings, one of the older ladies at the register appears so quick, I didn't realize her legs can move that fast - and starts yelling, "You can't add toppings, that's it! Just cheese and whatever it comes with!" So, the customer asks "I can't pay extra for it?" She yells again, "No! That's it! Doritos, cheese, and whatever it comes with!" And SHE asks him "Have you had this before?" And as the customer tries to ask something else, he says "No, I haven't had this before, it's my first time and last time I'll ever have it." Obviously, he was unhappy with her tone that he said this, but never once did he raise his voice or get upset. He was so calm. But, instead of just explaining how this new item "works," this lady just continues to repeat the above and by that time, I'm just checking out and was confused and very displeased by how she was treating him from the body language, voice tone and volume. And one can hypothesize why. Was it his skin color? The way he was dressed? Why would it even matter? But I can't help to think it might matter more than we would want it to. To add further context, he was just a worker nearby getting off work getting food. If it's a new item on a menu, it doesn't cost the business owner to just explain it without yelling. If it had been explained, I wonder if maybe he would've ordered another item and maybe it wouldn't have been his "first and last time." This was a witness-account experience that directly impacted my personal experience at this business. It doesn't matter how big of a franchise or small of a hole in the wall business, a paying and respectful customer should not be obligated to know new menu items without ever seeing or having tried it and be yelled at for asking questions about it. Pretty simple and completely unnecessary how it had to be played out. **I understand and can imagine all the types of rude and horrible customers and non-customers a business can get, not to mention, the difficulties of owning a business. However, that sentiment goes both ways- even the customers can be having their own challenges , everybody is going through something and when they walk into a Subway, it means they want something fast and fairly affordable to just fill their stomach. If someone doesn't know an item on the menu, just explain it. Don't yell and treat them like s***.

I opened the extra soft flour tortilla and added the black beans, fresh tomato salsa, and roasted chili-corn salsa, then placed the chicken taco with the fajita veggies and brown rice on top. It ended up looking and eating more like a mini chicken burrito, which was a very good value for the price. Surprisingly, the fajita veggies were not too salty this time. The filling also wasn't too watery, so I was able to eat the mini burrito without the sauce dripping from the tortilla. Overall, the total was $4.94, including tax, and turning a taco into what felt like a mini chicken burrito was a very good value. If you're looking for a smaller, budget-friendly meal, this is a great option.

I understand that they stay busy with both dine-in and takeout orders, and I'm willing to give grace where it's due--but the overall operation here feels chaotic and poorly managed. Whoever is running this location clearly needs support and a better system in place. The cleanliness was the biggest issue. The floors were dirty, tables were messy, and trash was overflowing throughout the dining area. In a restaurant this busy, tables and trash should be checked and maintained every 30 minutes to an hour like clockwork. Paying customers should not have to wipe down their own tables or hunt for a clean place to sit. Basic supplies were also missing. There was no ice in the machine, no forks or spoons stocked, and lids for drinks were nearly gone. The counter area was dirty as well. These are fundamental details that should be monitored continuously, especially during peak hours. A simple restocking and cleaning system would make a huge difference. What made this more frustrating was seeing several employees standing around behind the counter, appearing overwhelmed and unsure of what to do--like deer in the headlights. Time wasn't being used efficiently, and no one seemed assigned to maintaining the dining area or addressing obvious issues. With clearer roles and leadership, this could be avoided. With the increased cost of eating at Chipotle these days, you'd expect that higher prices would come with a cleaner, more organized environment. Right now, that's not the case at this location. The food itself is fine, but the lack of cleanliness and organization makes it hard to enjoy the experience or want to return anytime soon.
