We love In n Out. I won't belabor the point about the overall excellent value & quality & service. This is what faster food should be about. Except for 1 thing: please train your employees to properly clean tables, if they even clean them at all. Yesterday an employee was cleaning the condiments area. Walked past 4 tables that were filthy. I had to clean them myself. Got lemons, napkins, & water. In fact, in the past I had to follow up after employees made it worse...using dirty rags successively, leaving behind residue & film. Hey, at $20/hour, I could easily work here once I retire. Back in my teens I was excellent with cleaning, as well flipping burgers at Burger King! Come on In n Out, fix this part of your overall excellent business. Dirt is dirt. Nobody likes it. According to my research, Mill Valley is one of only five In N Outs in the world with *no* drive through. Having forgotten about Mill Valley's anti-drive-through laws, I drove around the restaurant two or three times (looking for the drive-through) before I realized that they didn't have one. So, I parked, went inside, ordered my usual order, to-go, and sat down in a booth. A moment later, another guest walked up to me and asked, "Have you already ordered, or are you waiting for someone?" After I answered, she asked, "Is your order for here, or to-go?" After I answered once again, she asked me if her mother could sit with me. At this point, she gestured to an elderly woman with a cane. I immediately got up to give her my seat, but she said, "No, no, stay. By the time I order my food, your food will come up, anyway." The situation felt extremely awkward to me, but I decided to be polite, and try to roll with it. The woman and I introduced ourselves, and tried to make small talk. A moment later, as an employee was walking by, my new table-mate snapped her fingers in his direction, and let him know that our table had a little smudge on it. The employee ran over right away to clean it up. I used to be a server, and watching anyone snap at a restaurant worker is a little bit triggering, so this is when I decided to politely but firmly excuse myself. I was thinking, "This has to be the weirdest thing that's ever happened to me at an In N Out?" Finally, my number was called. "SIX SEVEN!" Hahahaha.... (actually, I read in an article that they discontinued that number) As usual, I had ordered a double double, animal style, no lettuce, extra tomato, add regular onion. Up to 2025, I'd never received an incorrect order from In N Out. Over the past year, I've gotten three-- but this was not one of them. My order was perfect. I was especially pleased to see three slices of tomato, and several pieces of pickles. I was pleased to see it dripping with sauce, with no lettuce. (I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I feel like putting lettuce on a burger absolutely ruins it.) The only downside to this burger was that it was a little under-seasoned, which actually kind of makes sense, considering the local demographics (because the demographic who lives in this area is the same demographic who is known for preferring bland, unseasoned food, and sometimes snaps at waiters). Overall, I was happy to receive a tasty correct order in a timely manner, and would definitely eat here again. read more

Stopped by INO for my last lunch before heading back to Boston. Never been to this location - it didn't have a drive thru but they kept things moving. Ordered my usual grilled cheese w spread only, cheese fries, and a side of lettuce and tomato plus spread for my cheese fries. Oh and a small cherry coke with xtra xtra ice. The food is always good - it's dependable in taste and cost. You know what to expect. The service is friendly and fast - maybe a bit too fast. They called my number and I happily picked up my food and I noticed the spread was missing...got to my seat and noticed my side of lettuce and tomato were missing too. This is right on the highway, an easy drive from the exit after you see the sign. On my visit, it was super busy with lunch diners. Well, I just happened to pick a day when school just let out for the summer and a place was jam packed with every kid in the state. Would impress me the most was that the employees were well staffed and the lines moved quickly. I ordered the number two meal deal which was a patty with cheese and fries and a Coke. I was looking forward to this as I had been one of their first customers and then I moved so it was nice to come back and complete the circle. I was wondering if it would be as good as it was the first time I ate here. My order arrived along with my wife's and my burger looked a lot smaller than it did in the photo. Also, the entire burger itself is a fairly small bun so that probably creates the optical illusion in a photograph. The patty was fairly thin and well cooked. Not very juicy. But I have to say it had great burger flavor. All the ingredients in the sandwich and the bread were all fresh and I could taste it and see it. It is actually very well put together because it has eye appeal when it arrives. With an incredibly crowded business on an especially busy day for kids, I was surprised that it took us 5 to 10 minutes to order and get out. I was curious how the food would look when the bag was opened and to my surprise, they gave us plenty of ketchup sandwich sauce. The burgers themselves were very satisfying as far as their size goes , and the french fries were very fresh and had a wonderful flavor to them. Not like they were mass produced and fried and old oil these refresh and delicious. I prefer mine a little bit more crispy and a little thicker but these were very tasty and did just fine. For the $12 that I spent on the mail, I think the whole thing was worth it considering what I could've gotten elsewhere. My appetite was taken care of and my wife was very happy with hers. She went for a number three meal. Neither one of us has complaints to make about The cleanliness or freshness of the business. And the staff we're all really really nice and helpful if they could be. Stopped in at the Mill Valley In-N-Out while passing through and it was exactly what you hope for -- fresh, fast, and friendly. The line looked long but moved quickly. One of the few In-N-Out Burger locations that doesn't have a drive thru. Despite this, they still seem to push out those burgers and fries in record speed. The difference is, there is only one line and sometimes that line backs up into the parking lot. So those of you who would rather wait in your car at the drive thru to order have no choice but to go inside. Because of this, parking can be extremely hard to find. Aside from that, you can expect to have a delicious burger and fries here just like you would any other In-N-Out Burger location. Even though the line can get incredibly long, it moves and the staff works really hard to keep up with high demand. My go-to is a double double cheeseburger meal with raw onions, fries, and a pink lemonade. Sometimes I try to be "healthier" by trading in the bun for protein style and the pink lemonade for iced tea. But then I often think... I'm already eating bad, so what the hell? Why not just go ALL in?! And that, I do. That protein style be hittin' though. Love how fresh the lettuce is. But I digress... This is only one of a few In-N-Out Burger locations that's located within Marin County. I used to come here once or twice a week after work. When I was tired, I'd just get a burger menu. It was my usual spot... until November 30, 2025. I have an accent, and it's clear I wasn't born in the U.S. That day I placed my order as usual, and they called my number. It was the same guy who called it then he turned away, walked off, and started talking to the others in the back. I waited there for someone to hand me my food. Eventually he came back over and just handed me the bag like "here, take it and get out" no smile, nothing. He had a repulsed look on his face the whole time, like he was holding something gross. He didn't even ask if I wanted ketchup or any sauce. Then he immediately turned to the white American lady behind me and suddenly became very friendly, smiling, polite, completely different attitude. I'd noticed little things like this from some of the staff before, but I didn't think much of it. This time it was really obvious. It felt like going back to the 1960s, when Black people weren't even served in restaurants under segregation laws. They can say it wasn't intentional or whatever they want, but I know what I felt. There are other burger places in Mill Valley. I was only coming here because I liked your spread sauce. But I don't like it enough to keep putting up with this kind of treatment for long. read more

Even though I've grown up in California my whole life, I wasn't the biggest fan of In-N-Out as a kid. My thoughts on that changed during high school and this has been my go-to location for years. This location is conveniently off the freeway and has a nice large parking lot, but can still get chaotic sometimes. I've never really seen it get too busy with lines out the door, so I think that's a benefit to this In-N-Out. For these chains, consistency is key and I think In-N-Outs are the most consistent burger place. My current order is a double double animal style, add raw onion, no tomato. I get chopped chilies and add them on each bite. If you aren't getting your fries well done, then you're doing it wrong. While they still might not be the best, they're definitely better when cooked well done. And people from out-of-state who say In-N-Out is overhyped are just haters! To quote that infamous thief of the golden arches, a burger is a burger is a burger is a burger. But such is not the case when one finds themselves in a moderately sized city in California. And famous? Oh these burgers are known the world. The question I had to ask myself as I walked to red tile and yellow neon was, is it really that good? Now I didn't come to play so I ordered #1 special; double double (double meat, double cheese burger), fries, medium drink (the drink being a Coke, as we all know calories don't count while on vacation). As I eagerly awaited my order, I took a walk around the place (because, if you haven't figured it out yet, this was my first time at a In-N-Out). The condiment bar was simply; ketchup, napkins, and hot pickled peppers. Oh it was time to stock up! Though almost every seat was filled, my wait time felt fairly short. And when that tray came out, my eyes saw what my stomach was hoping for. Those double patties were accompanied by a slice of tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, and Thousand Island dressing. Like the fries laying beside them, it all looked fresh. The bun, ingredients, and daily cut fries were delicious. Seems like this place is getting more and more of our business!! Not that I'm complaining . . . Stopped here on way home from a baseball game, and didn't want too much - just something to kill the dinner time cravings. Ordered a couple of "grilled cheeses" (hamburgers without the meat and 2 slices of cheese, instead) and a double cheese hamburger and some fries to go. And a chocolate shake. I needed it! The orders were taken quickly, no line at this time of the evening on a Sunday, and the counter help was friendly and efficient. All the workers seemed efficient, as I watched them move foods and trays to different stations and then to the pick up area. The mask requirement is based on vaccination status, but myself and my adult son were almost the only maskless ones! Interesting - I've noticed a slow trend to "open up" at least in food places. They still have plexiglass shields in front of the order counter, and the new to me touchless drink dispensers are a great idea - I think all self serve machines in fast food and convenience stores should be switched to this style. I stopped by In N Out for lunch before the long drive back to Sacramento. I was happy it was right off the freeway. When I pulled into the parking lot, I realized there was no drive thru. I honestly was shook!! LOL. Never seen a location without a drive thru. There was a line to order going out the door. But, it did move pretty quick! I waited no more than 5 minutes after I ordered, for my hamburger and fries! It's a small location and pretty busy, yet the employees seemed to work pretty efficiently and quickly behind the counter. As usual, In N Out delivers to tasty, consistent, hot, food. There's benches outside to eat, if you want to avoid the crowds inside. There's trash cans at the ends of each parking row, which I thought was great and convenient. Next time I'm in Mill Valley, I would return to this In N Out! No doubt!!! read more

In all my days going to in n out this is by far the worst one I've encountered, I'm from SoCal and I feel like there's a lot more there and have been to many different ones. This is the very first one that didn't even have a drive thur, it looked like it did but as I drove around I was wrong, it was super dead which is very weird to see. The food took forever and was very cold and fries were old, the meat had no flavor and I u couldn't even see my patty.
