Stopped by for lunch and ordered a #2 (cheeseburger meal) sub lettuce for the bun and make the fries animal style but when it was like $9.50 and I asked how a $6 meal got so expensive, the dude said it was the animal style fries...I thought $3 to put some cheese, onion, and sauce??? Okay??" So started off not on the best foot. I looked at the receipt and he'd rung it up a la carte so obviously it was more expensive than it should've been. I got my order and they hadn't subbed the bun for lettuce. So they took the burger back and my animal style fries that cost an arm and leg got cold while I waited 5 minutes for a new burger I thought I'd save some calories subbing the bun for lettuce but y'all...it is impossible to eat this way. Not my favorite place but dang if the experience isn't always pleasant. Travelling through Texas last week, it was time for a bit of lunch. I had already had a bit to eat earlier, but I really wanted something that I simply cannot get when I am at home. In-n-Out is one of those places, one of those cravings that I have to fulfill whenever I am away from the East Coast. Walking inside, there wasn't too much of a line, and I got up there pretty quick. I ordered up my Double-Double and fries, then sat and waited for it to be cooked up. Shortly it was ready on a tray, and I took it outside to the small seating area they have out back to eat. No one else was out there, which was sad because it was a beautiful day to sit outside. The sandwich was glorious, as were the fries. What more could a west coast kid ask for?! First of all let's just be honest... In-And-Out is fast food. However in the world of fast food In-And-Out reigns supreme and I have yet to find another place that has kept their menu simple, but perfect. My go too is the Double Double meal, and since you're in Waco you should pair Dr. Pepper to your fabulous meal! If something off the menu interests you then I suggest looking up their secret menu online where you can order things "animal style," or a host of different ways. Shamira was our cashier and she was incredibly polite and friendly. I am a sucker for wonderful customer service, and so Shamira gets an honorable mention for being someone who I appreciate. If you work, at least enjoy what you do and even if you don't do your best. She is defiantly doing that! In the end you can't go wrong here, and a side note... this In-And-Out was quiet. The ratio of meat to lettuce to sauce may be so good, it takeover as the Burger Lord of Waco. In-n-out is probably the most efficient past midnight, drive through fast food joint out there. Always there for you just like my Uncle Bruce. Burgers are fantastic, fries are the definition of ehh but I ask for spread which makes them decent. Milkshakes are very enjoyable. What can I say about In-N-Out that has not been said. I have been eating here for over 50 years and the quality and consistency never varies. We had a couple of Double-Doubles "Animal Style" (SECRET MENU: hand-leafed lettuce, tomato, a mustard cooked beef patty, pickle, and extra spread with grilled onions), two fries, and a strawberry shake for my better half. I swear, I started Yelping during my run and searched for restaurants around the area. On a Sunday morning, it seemed that every restaurant was closed. I really had no clue where to eat. All I knew was that I wanted something good, something quick, and with enough calories to cover the 8 miles that I was running. So, where do I go? While running, I spot an empty In-N-Out bag blowing from across the street. Was this a sign to go to In-N-Out? I searched for the closest location and it was only 3.5 miles away from where I was. I finished my run and headed straight to In-N-Out. This In-N-Out didn't have a line when I arrived, but it took a while since the dude in front of me took his time ordering. He started with a plain burger, then added cheese, added another patty, asked about bacon which they don't have, and added grilled onions with spread. He basically just ordered a Double Double Animal Style. I was easy. I got a few Flying Dutchman's and I was out of here. I'm so glad there's an In-N-Out here in Waco. Quick quick service, super friendly cashiers, and there's even a police officer here during the later hours. I firmly stand by my belief that In-N-Out has the best fast food burgers around because they don't look nor taste like fast food. Anyone who's had the cheeseburger animal style will back me up on that, and the best part is that it only costs $2.65 pre-tax for this heavenly creation. Had to stop here when I saw it. I heard so much about it. Its a 50's asthetic diner look to it. 55 Chevy, Coca Cola, paper hats. You know what I mean. The posted menu is small but catches what you need. Single, double burgers, fries and the best part, the prices are on the low end. Not gonna say super cheap but its cheap. Love In-N-Out period! Consistent, reliable professional, good tasting. I get excited when I see they are expanding in other places. There are not only food reasons but there are sentimental reasons for loving In-N-Out. It brings back many good family memories. When I moved to Bay Area, there were none up here and then Rohnert Park opened with lines and many to follow afterwards. They I would hear announces on Sports radio announcers mentioning In-N-Out and then Steph Curry mentioned good old In-N-Out when they used to Play at Oracle Arena. Choose your combo and you get a great burger with fries made from real potatoes and a drink. The burgers are simple but really good. And it's so easy to get in and out. Everything is smooth and easy. The dining room is all in red and white and clean and laid out well! They have these little peppers that pack a kick to 'em! But they fit! When we were there the place was hoppin'! Boy, talk about excitement. This is the first time I have seen a fast food place be "THE social scene". You walk into this place and it is like walking into a Taylor Swift concert with Taylor giving autographs. The house is packed with people pouring in the door. Nine million people are working in the kitchen. Morale is sky high .... Not a single sulky "this job sucks" minimum wage slave in the place. The Baylor In-N-Out is a bigger deal than if the college football championship were being played in McLane Stadium. I went in and being on a diet, just got a cheeseburger, nothing else. Then I look and see that everyone else is eating French Fries and having a wonderful time. The fries are the worst looking things I have ever seen in my life ... white, pasty, boxy, looking almost unfried ... and people are inhaling them like they are a combination of Haagen-Daz, Godiva Chocolate, the best movie popcorn ever and cocaine. I am thinking ... this makes no sense. How can something that looks so awful being making all these people so totally totally happy? So I order fries .... Possibly the only time in my life I have ordered a dish because it looked terrible. I got the fries - and they were as awful as they looked. I ate exactly two ... and could go no farther. So I am thinking - has everyone in Baylor gone out of their mind? Then I had my burger - and the Angels Sounded Their Trumpets. I am new to Texas and have gone to the in-n-our burger in Hurst. My husband and I drove to Waco to meet up with a friend and her husband. After an evening of exploring, we were hungry! We weren't sure if they were open late, but they were! We went at midnight. My husband and I ordered. We got the same as we always do! Minus drinks. We wanted water. The fries at the Hurst location wasn't the greatest so we decided to try the fries at the Waco location. Fries at this location were better. They still weren't the best but they were much better! The burgers. My husband got the double double. No lettuce and tomato. I got the cheeseburger only onion and add extra pickle. So no lettuce, tomato, or sauce on mine. And only sauce on my husbands. Besides the cheese and patty on both our burgers. We got our cups for water. They call our number, I grab our food and head back to our seat. They messed up our burgers. There wasn't any sauce on my husbands although I said he would like that. And there was everything on mine! Yuck! But I'm not the type to send food back unless it's pink. So I dealt with it. I could only handle 4 bites until I was done. I took off the tomato and lettuce but the sauce was all over the bun and burger and cheese. Nothing I could have done with that. My husband finished it. This visit was an overall disappointment. I ordered a double-double meal protein style with raw onions. The double double had too much dressing on it that I couldn't even eat it and the fries had way too much salt. I would have turned around to return it but I was already of I-35 South and due to the road construction and traffic on the northbound lanes I proceeded home. I only gave them 2 stars because of the customer service. (FYI taste nothing like the In N Outs in California even on a good day) read more
