I was passing through Waco and wanted to pick up some food to-go from here. In N Out usually consistently offers good food products, and so I figured I would stop in here. Well, it was super busy when I pulled in, and but I did manage to find a parking spot. I parked and headed inside. There was a line at the counter, so I patiently waited my turn. No big deal. Finally it was my turn to be served. I placed my order, customized it (only modified one thing), and then paid for my order. I did request for it to go. I waited and waited. Other orders got called, and I kept waiting. Felt like I waited forever. Lots of other people got their orders. I was trying to be patient. Eventually I looked back on a counter further behind the front counter. I could see a bag with my order number on it. It had been sitting on that back counter for a few minutes. Employees were passing by it, but not bringing it to the front counter and calling the number out. I was about to just walk over to the register and tell the lady who had taken my order that my order back there was ready. Finally she turned toward my bag of food, looked at the order number, and called it out. I walked up to pick up the food. She acted like it was no big deal, didn't apologize for making me wait longer, and that was that. I took my food and headed back to the car. I had a schedule to keep, so I couldn't spend much time checking out my food. I trusted that it was made to their usual quality. I headed out of town. I got a little further down the road, and then opened the bag to start eating some of my fries. I grabbed an undercooked fry from the bag. I then took the whole fry box out of the bag. I realized that about a quarter of all the fries in the box were undercooked. Yuck. Then there were a few overcooked, brown, over-crispy fries in the box too! I was like wow...but I was too far away from the restaurant to bother to drive back and ask for new fries. Then I set the fries down and took out my cheeseburger to start enjoying that. I pulled the wrapper down and started biting into it. The burger itself was not bad, but the bun was burned. Yuck. Overall, this is not the service or quality of food I had expected from there. I should not have to wait excessively for my food when it's already packed and ready, nor should I have food that is not properly cooked. It's hard to say "No" to an In-N-Out Burger especially since we were hungry and we're already right here in Waco. Super busy today but even with a line out the door, it moved quickly enough. "Double-double, animal style. Fries well done." I've just about worked out my order. Double meat, double cheese. Animal style means it's topped with extra spread, pickles and grilled onions. I find the regular fries to be underdone and rather light, so it's important to order them well done. Next time, I'll get the fries animal style too which adds cheese and grilled onions and the Thousand Island style sauce. Restaurant was clean, inside and out. Went here on my way to San Antonio from Dallas as a little pit stop. The guy who took my order in the drive through was awesome! Very energetic and felt like he was just having an opposite time which rubbed off on me. He could definitely be an auctioneer. I didn't get his name but best fast food worker I have ever come across!! The food was great!! I definitely prefer In N Out to other burger fast food places because of how fresh it tastes and the box it comes in is so handy for eating while on the road. Giving it 4 stars not 5 only because it took forevvvvveeeerrr to get my food and there was only a handful of people in front of me. Probably 15 or 20 minutes. This location is hopping so you know it's doing well. There was a long line in the drivethrough and while there were many people inside we were still able to get our food in around 10 minutes so it wasn't terrible. We were so excited to see an In-N-Out in Waco, but sadly not as good as the norm. The restaurant was clean and bright as your norm for In-N-Out. The food was out quickly just as their standard good service. It looked fine, but on the singles the buns were over toasted and the plain burger was almost too hard to eat. Very disappointing for a 9 year old's first visit, but she did like her chocolate shake. The double doubles were fine, but had I realized how badly overcooked the single was, it would have gone back. I have heard about In-N-Out Burger for many years. Finally got a chance to try it in Waco. There is a limited menu which makes it very easy to order. Very reasonably priced. This location has a drive-through and plenty of parking. Clean and well organized inside. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food is very good. The sign says quality you can taste. That is all truth. I got a double cheese with their sauce and onions. Really good quality burger with just a little bit of grease. Their fries are hand cut in the prep area. They take a fresh potato, put it through a machine to cut it, and then fry it. I had it plain and animal style. Animal style was much tastier and had more toppings. The regular fries with ketchup were also good. Afterwords, I got a chocolate shake to wash it down. Very thick and tasty. It hit the spot after a long day. Definitely think I will need to go back before I leave in a few days. read more

While I still struggle in finding a Texas In-N-Out that is on par with California / Nevada, I think this Waco location certainly does the job. This has been a frequent stop (#1) during my jaunts up north and has been a solid meal on the road. The likes are rarely long, even if it's prime time. I assume this is because it's in Waco and all, but being sandwiched in Austin + San Antonio usually means nothing but people. I'm glad it's not an issue. (#2) Service is consistent with getting the food out quickly, though they could be a tinge nicer. My usual double double with animal style is fine. Compared to the average fast food spot, it's pretty good. However as noted, it's not the same animal (#3) as Cali. I am probably in the minority, but I've never cared for the fries. Many people love them but I prefer Shake Shack's crinkle cut personally. The shakes are fire though, which are clutch on a hot day. Prices are solid as always. I am not a native Texan, but I am here on business for the week. And when in Rome (or this case Texas)....one must try the In-N-Out Burger joint. I got my burger on a lettuce wrap and it was great, hot and fresh. The fries were alright - they are hand cut on site which is kind of neat and not something you see routinely these days, but nothing to really write home to Mom about. It's a little hard to screw up french fries (but is possible!). The restaurant was CRAZY busy, but they still manage to get orders out in a decent amount of time and staff was friendly. I would eat there again, but would probably hold on the fries and save myself some calories. They also have shakes, but I didn't try one of those. Down in the free range land of Waco, Texas we are determined to indulge ourselves with 1500 calories worth of animal by-product. I ordered (as seen below) a double-double with fries, and a vanilla shake. The fries, crisp, perfectly salted. The burger, perfectly crafted as if Michelangelo sculpted it himself. The milkshake, blended to just the right consistency. I felt as if my dreams were becoming reality. So, I tell you this here and now, none of what I'm saying is exaggerated or hyperbolic. If you find yourself anywhere near an "In-N-Out" i would highly suggest that you muster the courage and devour as much food-stuff as possible. In-n-out is different kind of good. A group of friends and I had to stop here cause we don't have this in Houston yet. Food: I like that their menu is simple and to the point. the burgers and fries taste clean. I can't think of another word to describe. It's not greasy at all. They give a good presentation when you dine in. I recommend trying the animal fries, for different taste. Check the pic below ! Whattabuger remains the best burger joint in Texas Going back to the 1980s when I moved to California, In-n-out burger was an awakening to me. I broke my chains from McDonold's and Burger King. Roll forward the clock to 2017 and In-N-Out has move to Texas. So excited I was that I even broke diet and stopped in Waco with my wife and daughter. We each ordered the Double Burgers, shakes and two orders of Animal Fries to split three ways. The place is large, clean and offers plenty of seating. We opted to sit outside to enjoy a great day. Food took a while to deliver. 15 minutes is a lifetime in a fast food restaurant. The food came up without shakes. So, by the time our shakes were put up on the counter all the cheese on the food had turned hard and cold, if it was ever hot at all. Outside we really enjoyed what we had. I'm just saying though if In-N-Out wants to compete in Texas the really need to step up their burger game. It's not like Texans have any infatuation with California to allow a crappy burger go past our palates more than twice maybe three times. I love In N Out Burger. I dream of the day that they make it to my home state of Florida. Anytime we are in a location that has one I insist upon going and this is no exception. I was so excited when this location opened up near my brother and his family in Waco 3 years ago. It is now a regular stop anytime we visit. The thing that make In n Out so special for me is the bun. There is a gorgeous toastyness to the edges of the bun that is just glorious. I'm also a fan of the pickles they use and the spread. This location is very busy, though I feel most locations I've been to are, this one a bit more so. We were there are close to the 3pm and I was able to snag a table only when I dashed over as people were getting up. There were only a couple people in line before us, but by the time we left there was a line out the door. The drive thru was wrapped around the building the whole time. I have been in Waco for a 10 day business Intensive when I wandered off for a dinner apart from the group. I wanted a take out but I also wanted to see the inside. So I went inside and received a Texas sized greeting. Nothing like L.A. and I won't go any further than that in the comparison of the cultures. I ordered a Double Double. It had 2 beef patties, cheese, and bacon. I also some fries to go knowing they would never survive the trip to my host's home. It took 10+ minutes since it was cooked as I waited.
