    Cardamom Basbousa

Inanna bar is located on the rooftop of the Hoxton. During our stay we went a couple times to the rooftop in the morning just to chill and went once during the evening for dinner and drinks. The whole setting is beautiful with overhead patio lights, lush greenery and colorful cushions. I wish they served breakfast on the rooftop but its just bar and bites post 3 in the afternoon and dinner post 5. For dinner, we just got the lamb kofta and the cardamom basbousa because we had upcoming reservations elsewhere. The lamb kofta was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The cardamom basbousa was a little too tangy for me - might have been better if it wasn't drenched in the lemon syrup. Drinks were fantastic! Even if you aren't staying at the hotel, this mezze bar is worth checking out.

Great service, ambiance and food. Nice new rooftop restaurant to enjoy the DTLA sunsets from. We had the following and all were very amazing: 1. Whipped feta sesame oil - a must! The flatbread was fantastic 2. Roasted eggplant & dates - the spiced walnuts were great 3. Spiced shrimp tabbouleh bowl - great flavors 4. Lamb kofta - good large portion 5. Coconut rose water rice pudding - so delicious! For drinks we had the following & all equally great: 1. Harissa Mezcalita 2. Fig Old Fashioned 3. & this great saffron/egg white drink I forget Great spot to come with a group and get a bunch of shareable plates :) looking forward to going back again.

    Fresh oysters. Delicious!

Absolutely amazing service, food, drinks and atmosphere. We enjoyed fresh oysters, lamb wraps, and fresh greens. We'll be back!

Middle Eastern restaurant in downtown LA. I didn't realize this was the sister restaurant of…read moreBestia. Overall, I enjoyed every dish we got. I would consider reordering everything we got. Definitely on our list of restaurants to visit again when we're in the area. Ordered: - Hummus Duck 'Nduja - First off, we need to take a moment for the blistered pita. That stuff was soooooo yummy might be my favorite pita I ever consumed. Hummus was also good, nice balance of flavors that complimented each other well. - Grilled Octopus - Had a good amount of chew and wasn't too chewy. Dill flavor was a bit on the strong side but I don't mind it. - Potato Flatbread - Very light and also good. - Slow Roast Lamb Neck Shawarma - Soooo tender fell off the bone so nicely. My favorite dishes were the lamb neck shawarma and the blistered pita. Family style restaurant. We were recommended to order 2 spreads, 3 appetizers, and 1 entree for 3 people. We ended up doing 1 spread, 2 appetizers, and 1 entree and I'm very happy with our decision. We were soooo full after our meal. I think if we did the 2 spread and 3 appetizers as recommend we wouldn't be able to eat the entree at all. Seems like a really popular celebration restaurant (saw many graduations). We did make a reservation and I would recommend doing that. All tables were filled when we were there, not sure how the walk in situation is. Music is a bit loud inside the restaurant but I don't think it was as bad as Bestia. The outside patio was good though in my opinion. I didn't feel like i was yelling across the table to talk on the patio.

The food is still stellar - updating to state that the new-to-me-menu items (peach salad, smoked…read moretrout, chicken tagine and whole lamb rack) are all superb. The tagine in particular was a pleasant surprise; I almost never order chicken, I can cook it plenty fine at home. However: this dish was a revelation (the olives transform during the braise - so creamy/delicious). The only nit to pick: Bavel please change up the playlist; I enjoy Bad Bunny as much as the next person, but the same 4 songs were on repeat all night long.

The restaurant has a really homey feeling inside, with about four small tables that make it feel cozy and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable. My partner and I ordered the chicken shish kebabs with mejadra rice, salad, and sumac fries. Everything was delicious! The plate also came with hummus and pita, which were incredibly fresh and flavorful. The hummus was smooth, rich, and perfect with the warm pita. Hermon helped recommend our food, cooked it, and even served us. She was so kind and made the whole experience feel really personal. She also offered us complimentary baklava, which was amazing. It had the most soft, chewy texture with just enough sweetness. When I asked her what the secret ingredient was, she just smiled and said she couldn't spoil it so you'll have to try it for yourself! Open until 4am, their food was always fresh, clean, the staff were polite and professional, and the price was about the best deal you'd find downtown. A good, honest restaurant and business, which is rare in LA these days. I walked down there tonight and can confirm that the place is closed and the inside is being cleared out. Not sure why, but since there have been other locations around the LA area over the past several years, maybe they're just moving again. I wish them all the best! To Anwar and staff, thank you for the delicious and healthy food over the years, and for running a tight ship. I hope I see that Wolverine mural pop up somewhere else, soon!

Not…read more"pretty good for takeout," not "good on a lucky day," just genuinely solid every single time. This time, I went with the Anwar Style Chicken Shawarma to try something new. The portion size alone is impressive. The container is packed and feels substantial the moment you pick it up. The base is a bed of fries, and these are not just filler. They are thick, well seasoned, and sturdy enough to handle all the toppings without turning into a soggy mess. On top of the fries is a generous amount of chicken. The chicken tastes freshly cooked, with that warm, savory flavor you expect from good shawarma, never dry and never overly salty. There are pita chips mixed in, which add a great crunch and texture against the fries and chicken. Multiple sauces are drizzled throughout the dish. I chose a side of their spicy sauce. The creamy white sauce balances things out, while the orange sauce brings a mild heat and a little extra depth. None of the sauces overpower the dish, they work together to coat everything evenly and keep every bite flavorful. Diced tomatoes and corn adds a touch of sweetness that surprisingly works really well here. A sprinkle of herbs throughout helps brighten everything up and keeps the dish from feeling too heavy, even though it is definitely filling. This is comfort food done right. It is messy in the best way, packed with flavor, at least to me it was. If you are looking for something hearty, satisfying, and consistently well made, I will always recommend Anwar's Kitchen. Anwar's Kitchen delivers quality food, and I will keep ordering from them.

We ordered the two-person combo, which was about $95 per person and included all the appetizers they recommended, plus two skewers each, with additional upcharges for certain protein choices like beef. On top of that, we each got drinks that were around $15-20 each, and after parking and a 20% tip, the final bill came out to roughly $350 for two people. I normally don't focus too much on pricing at restaurants, but the final bill on this one had me do a double glance. I get that you're in the LA Arts District and paying for the location and ambiance, but the pricing seems a bit excessive. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd honestly love to come back and bring friends because the restaurant itself is nice and the food was genuinely good. Their arayes are a must -- it's basically like a lahmajun with two pieces pressed together, and it's insanely good. I usually go all in and order the tabbouleh, babaganoush, a pound of lula kebab, and shish kebab. Honestly, if you're with 2+ people (or even just really hungry), ordering by the pound with sides is way better value than getting individual plates. You get more variety and it just feels like the right way to eat here. Every now and then I'll switch it up and get the liver plate -- it comes with tons of greens and onions, and when you wrap everything in their fresh pita, it's incredible. Not an everyday order, but when you're in the mood for it, it hits. If you dine in, the indoor decor is super nice and really gives that authentic Mediterranean vibe. They also play a lot of 90s music, which somehow fits perfectly and adds to the whole experience. I've dined in plenty of times and the service is always solid -- staff is friendly and attentive. Just a heads up, food can take a little longer sometimes, but that's because they're always busy and everything is made fresh, so it's worth the wait. I've also done takeout here more times than I can count -- probably over 100 orders at this point -- which says everything. This is easily one of my go-to spots and I keep coming back for a reason.

From the moment we arrived, the vibe felt off. The host who seated us (who later turned out to also be a server) left us at the table, and no one approached us for about 10 minutes. When a server finally came over, the first thing she said was "Ready? Ready?", no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We were never brought water. I had to ask a busser for it because the server walked past our table multiple times, clearly saw us, and chose to ignore us. The food runner was also rude, he dropped the plates on the table without saying a single word. Throughout the entire meal, no one checked on us. No "How is everything?" No "Do you need anything?" Nothing at all. Meanwhile, we noticed that nearby tables were being greeted, checked on, and treated kindly. When we asked for the check, the server literally threw it on the table without saying a word. The experience was so bad that we decided not to leave a tip; Something we never do, especially since we truly value good service and I personally work in the restaurant industry. I don't know if the treatment had anything to do with how we looked or how we were dressed, but I've never felt so ignored and uncomfortable in a restaurant before. The food may be fine, but the service completely ruins the experience. I would not return or recommend this place.
