This place opened a few weeks ago, and it already shows signs of having success. It was pretty busy last night, but our waitress said it was slow for a weekend night. Nestled in an area which includes apartments, a Starbucks, a poke place, and a Harris Teeter among other things, Inca Social is a casual expression of Peru's favorite dishes. My wife and I made it a date night dinner spot, and we were quite satisfied. She ordered the lomo saltado - sans tomatoes. I ordered what they're calling "crispy fish." The lomo was a sizeable pile of tender beef, red onion and steak fries, as well as some of the fluffiest white rice I've found at any restaurant in recent memory. My fish filet was flaky and breaded crispy and the spicy cream sauce was a good complement to it. Though I'm not sure it's worth paying $17.95 for, I would gladly eat it again. My rice was just as fluffy, and a good way to fill up a little more. A small pile of red onions, done ceviche style, was a welcome bite of crunchy and sour next to the fish. If you feel the need to imbibe, do yourself a favor and order a pisco sour. They're not pricey, and they're a true taste of Peru. read more

Visited the restaurant last Sunday evening. Very limited selection of wines and they didn't have the wine listed on the menu. Ordered an appetizer and dinner. The only problem is that the dinner came first and the appetizer after I asked where it was. Seems to be a communication issue with the kitchen. Wanted to talk to someone at the front desk but there was no one there when we were leaving. Called tonight to speak with someone and got disconnected. I came here for a get together with friends and I loved the ambiance. Great music and we were able to get good deals for their happy hour. Also please be aware there is no parking around here, but you can park at the parking garage. The food was good. I got the Lomo Saltado which was filling. No one ever came to our table. We got seated by the manager and sat for 16 minutes with no acknowledgment from anyone. I would have more understanding if they seemed busy. However, we saw the manager chatting for a while with a server near the bar and another server rolling silverware. I don't expect a lot from a restaurant, but not greeting us or being able to order is just unacceptable. They really need to get it together. read more

I will make it very simple. Waiting: Bad. There is no waiting line but the food takes a long time to come out. Service: Bad. We were asked "Are you guys ready to order?" by four different servers. They seemed just so disorganized in taking orders and who is in charge of what's what. Also, the main lady at the door does not seem to know how to speak English well which is not a big deal. But I think it's important to know what "order" means when you are responsible for greeting people and sitting them. Food: Meh. It's alright. Definitely not something you do wow about. I'm so happy to have a Peruvian cuisine place in the area!! Came here for the first time last night and the food was amazing ! You need to try the Inca balls(mixed)!The pisco sours were delicious, maybe light on the pisco side but still great! My fiancé ordered the lomo saltado because that's his favorite Peruvian meal. (Make sure to ask for the trio hot sauces they have I ordered the tacu tacu with lomo . Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the presentation could have been better for the tacu tacu. But other that that. The staff was super friendly , our waitress was from Lima as well! Great food great staff, can't wait to come back! Monday night, Just wanted to write a review about my nephew and I's experience Monday for dinner. We had Allison as our server and it was one of the best experiences ever, my nephew gets very nervous about trying new restaurants and she was super knowledgeable about the entire menu and even Peruvian culture which was amazing to learn about, such a memorable experience! Our first visit to Inca Social, and I regret why I had always drove by and not coming in. Great service, and we we met Darwin (manager) who educated us on the theory of the evolution of this Peruvian fusion menu. The appetizers were great, the empanadas, the mashed potatoes with the different proteins on top (sorry I don't remember the names), the Lomo's, the Octapus, and the Aroz Con Pollo (you know what I mean) were all deliciously done. This place is definitely a unique restaurant in the NOVA area--you can't find anything similar to what they do here. Their drinks are very unique (get the chicha rum!). I went to this place last week with business friends. I ordered the same thing as always that is "classic ceviche and trio causa". For me, these are the key dishes to continuing ordering from the menu. The fish was overcook and flavorless. No salt at all. I have to request salt form my waiter to make it at least eatable but unfortunately didn't work. Causa dish--nothing out of this world, the causa have many lumps that is result of mashing undercook potatoes. I wanted to try a new spot to get ceviche (the place we usually go to is in MD and I didn't feel like driving out all the way). I heard good reviews about this place so thought I'd give them a try. I got the ceviche mixto, Jalea, the ceviche carretillero, and tequeños. Well first of all the ceviche mixto was forgotten from my order so I did not get to try it. They were great about giving me a refund for it though. However, with the rest of the food, I was really disappointed. It's hard to find good ceviche around here and this place just wasn't it. Even the tequeños were just ok. I'll keep going to my place in MD for the ceviche and might consider coming back to try some of their other dishes. read more

Service was great, but the food portions were too small and prices were high. We ordered 3 sandwiches and they all came with small strips of meat. Not worth the $12-13 a plate. It also came with fries, but the basket of fries wasn't even filled up. I wish I took a photo of it, but I didn't think I would be disappointed. I was the sixth person to give my order but the very last person to get my food approximately an hour after waiting. Most members of my group had finished eating. Some of them had actually left. After speaking with the manager, I waited another 20 minutes before I received my food which was average. Awesome new place for Merrifield! The beer tastings are larger than I anticipate. Tons of options from lagers, sours, malts, ciders, IPAs, etc. Food was also good. Went here for lunch so light crowd but would definitely make a reservation for dinner because seating is slightly limited. The atmosphere is nice and open. And the service was friendly and quick. For dinner, obviously, make a reservation. Just like everywhere else in the area. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the beer options, pours, and food. The happy hour is really what I love! My boyfriend and I pick out a few appetizers (he gets the Inca wings and I get the chicharron) and the drinks on the HH menu are pretty solid (I love you, chicha rum). They bring you cancha (crunchy salted corn) instead of chips and salsa which I appreciate as a Peruvian. I will admit that if you haven't grown up eating half these traditional Peruvian dishes, you might be lost picking an entree. I'd suggest the arroz chaufa (preeeeetty much fried rice) or the aji de gallina (a personal favorite) for those without a Peruvian mother. This place also had lucuma flavored ice cream (WHAAAAAT) which made me cheer in the restaurant. This fruit is native to Peru and I hadn't had it in years before coming here. The suspiro a la limeña is also really tasty to me. I mean, it's basically just sugar in the form of creamy dessert so how could you go wrong? Overall, I don't think we spend much more than $40-50 per visit, so definitely take advantage of happy hour... which goes all the way until 8pm! read more

Management and wait staff are so great! We came here recently one evening for a family members birthday and sat outside. It was only our table so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The waitress was so attentive and friendly. She had a very welcoming and genuine personality, explained drinks, recommended items, and was patient with us etc. when I wanted a spicy margarita (which isn't on the menu), they had the bartender make it! Manager lit the birthday girls cupcakes and brought them out himself. We were a large party (15) and when everyone kept ordering shots and drinks the manger came out and started taking our orders as well so the waitress doesn't get overwhelmed (we were a handful). The food was ok but the service was pretty slow. I got there with my friend when there were about ten other people in the place at tables. My friend and I sat at the bar and waited about 10 minutes until the bartender came over. He was busy chatting with two men at the other end of the bar until a waiter told him we were waiting. He gave us our drinks and went back to his friends at the other end of the bar. While we were waiting, my friend and I noticed how dirty and stained the chairs were at the tables and it took waitstaff quite a while to clear tables. Glad we sat at the bar.
