My G2 77" LG OLED died after three years - IE came to my house, diagnosed a bad panel, then handled the replacement of the whole panel with LG. IE is one of two authorized LG TV service providers on island. LG didn't make it easy for him, but ultimately they shipped a whole panel to Hawaii and he swapped out the various boards. In the end I have a 90% new TV! The price was fair too. IE is thorough and communicative. We don't have many resources for TV repair in Oahu - I'm glad we have Independent Electronics. Take it from me - next time you buy a big TV, get it from Costco or Sam's, where a 5 year warranty is included. LG has a 5 year panel only warranty, but you will jump through hoops! read more

Chris at Independent Electronics is very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. When black lines appeared on my LG tv screen, I called Allstate insurance to file a claim. Fortunately LG OLED tv purchased at Costco comes with an extended warranty. I called Costco tech concierge first and they informed me my tv has extended warranty with Allstate. I contacted Allstate and filed a new claim. According to their claims procedure, I need a diagnostic report of malfunction from a certified repair man. Apparently Chris seems to be the only certified repair man on the island. Luckily I found him on google. He promptly returned my phone call and came to my home to diagnose tv on scheduled date. He arrived on time and diagnosis was quick..less than 10 minutes. I paid Chris for the visit. He emailed me the diagnosis report next day. I forwarded the report to insurance company as instructed and they processed my claim. They also reimbursed me for the diagnosis report. So thankful for Chris and his professionalism and expertise. I had an excellent experience trying to get my mom's tv repaired here. The owner is extremely honest and helpful. If it can be repaired, he knows how and he'll tell you if it's a good value to purse that route. To assess things, you can expect to pay about $78, but he will be extremely honest and fair about things. He was good about making appointments and he even made space in the parking area so I could easily off-load our huge tv for him to review. This is not some commercial store--so don't expect 9am to 10 pm service, but the owner was a good communicator about when to come by and was prompt and ready when I came by. His workshop was neat and organized--another great sign. We ended up deciding not to repair our TV, and he saved me a trip to the town dump to recycle the tv by offering to dispose of it for us. Unfortunately, its speakers were shot and needed to be replaced. Chris diagnosed the problem right away after I brought the TV to his shop/home near St.Louis Drive. Other repair businesses didn't want to bother with it due to its age and the one that did consent to look at it, wanted to charge around $400! Our TV screen was going dark intermittently, and my wife and I talked about getting a new set, but then decided to see if it would be worth fixing it, and we are so glad we did. Independent Electronics helped me from overseas. I had my Panasonic TV damaged when moving from Oahu to Taiwan. I called Panasonic in Taiwan hoping they could help me but they won't service TV's from the US market. So they wouldn't even give me the time of day. Not sure what to do I called Chris. He was willing help me diagnose the problem long distance and even quoted the price and stock number for the parts needed. I was hoping to get the TV fixed when I returned to Hawaii but it looks like I have to buy another one. My 6yr old Panasonic plasma kept turning off. On the Panasonic support site, Independent Electronics was listed along with another business that is no longer in business. I called and left a message with diagnostics and emphasized that if the repair was gong to cost more than a new TV I wouldn't consider having it repaired. In the meantime I called Sears Blue Crew and gave them the same story. They would charge me $97 to just diagnose the TV plus repair. Meanwhile Chris called me back and confirmed my diagnosis (broken fan) and gave me a quote on the repair. I was impressed. Sears wasn't able to tell me how much the repair would cost even after I provided them with the diagnostics. That made me kinda leery. I'm glad I went with Chris. Big plus - he gives a 2 hour window of when he'll be at your house, unlike some companies that expect you to wait the entire day. Saved me half a grand!! read more

Excellent service and repair. My husband calls Chris and explains that our Sanyo HD TV has no sound, no picture when plugged into the cable box. So, we had the cable guys come to service and was told its not the box but the TV. Called Independent Electronics after review of their website and my husband spoke to Chris. He told my husband to try one thing over the phone and it worked! Turns out we would need to replace the TV board if we want it but for $300 it can wait. According to LG's website, there are only 2 certified repair centers on Oahu. The Yelp reviews looked good for Independent so I called inquiring about fixing my LG monitor (30" and cost me over $1K new). The guy who I assumed is Chris said he'd call LG support and call me back. The next week I didn't get a response so I called Chris and he told me the same thing. Ok, no problem. Another week goes by and nothing still so I call and once again he tells me the same thing. I'm just gonna buy another monitor instead of wasting my time with people like this. read more

We have an old Mitsubishi TV which after 20 years finally started kicking up. What now? Who works on old analog TV sets these day. Did a surge on line and INDEPENDENT ELECTRONICS popped up. Called them and Chris, the owner, stopped by the next day to evalute the situation. He recognized the problem instantly and told me that he could fix this ailing TV set.
