My husband and I decided to order take out today as we've done in the past but we were left disappointed by tonight's dinner. Not only have the portions gotten smaller but they are pricy. I remember when we dined here the portions were decent to the price, the first time we ordered take out the servings were in rectangular to go containers, now they are in circular ones that fit less. We ordered the butter chicken (mild) but instead of the chicken chunks we've had in the past it seemed like we got shredded leftover chicken, it was also lacking the rich butter flavor it usually has. For $14 the plate it was definitely not worth it. The white rice was a bit dry. The only thing that was decent was their Mulligatawny soup. And to top it off I ordered the coconut ice cream, which lacked the coconut flavor. It tasted like cream and sugar with some nuts. For $6 we probably ate 1/3 and threw the rest away. read more

Absolutely amazing experience and food! We stepped in after a gloomy walk on the beach. We warmed up with some tandoori fish, mixed grill, butter chicken, and lamb biryani. The fish was delicious and we ate it with fresh naan. It was so fresh and delicious, I would definitely recommend it to any seafood lovers. The mixed grill was also delicious, but I suggest you take it off the sizzle plate when you get it because it will dry the meat out. It comes with shrimp, fish, chicken tikka, seekh kabob, and I think beef. They brought us a tamarind sauce and a mint sauce. So delicious! I had the butter chicken with rice and I asked for it to be made medium spicy. It was perfect! Flavorful and just a little spicy. My husband had the lamb biryani and it was delicious with the raita (yogurt). We also got a mango lassi and it was so yummy. Now here is the best part, they have a cute floor seating area if you want a fun experience. Very unique! I give the food 5 stars but I would give the service 10 stars. The kind man who took our order was so sweet and he even brought out rice pudding when we were done eating. My mom also told him how much she liked the tamarind sauce, and he brought her a to-go container of it. Such amazing service! He was so nice and made sure everything was good. I'm always tentative going to the only restaurant of a given cuisine in a neighborhood, and moreover restaurants in sparse areas, since there isn't as much competition and hence guarantee of quality. However, if I were a resident of El Granada I would be thankful that the only Indian restaurant around was a good one! Granted, it is on the expensive side; expect to spend $25+ per person per meal. But it also has fancy decor and an oceanside view, so I would classify it as more of a fine dining experience. We ordered navratan korma, shahi paneer, and bengan bhartha along with assorted naan. The food came out quite fast, maybe in part because we were the only diners at the time. All the dishes were extremely oily and rich. This made it difficult to consume a lot, but I still enjoyed the vibrant, heavy flavors. We had made it just in time to take advantage of the BOGO entree lunch deal from 11am-2pm (I don't think they will necessarily be upfront about this, you have to mention that you saw it on their website), but it was still ~$55 for two for lunch. I had such a bizzare experience here. I attempted to eat here on Saturday 10/9/2021 at around 2pm. I walked in and wasn't acknowledged at all. There was one other family in there. I waited a couple of minutes for the person working there to say something but he didn't. I asked, "are you open?" He looked at me like he didn't understand why I was there and said yes. He seemed busy helping the one other party so I waited for a few more minutes, and when he didn't say anything, not even "I'll be with you in a moment" I tried to ask if I could seat myself outside. While I cannot give a review based on the quality of the food as we didn't eat here, I will give a review based on the customer service we received. My friend and I stopped by yesterday for lunch. The gentleman who greeted us (for lack of a better word) asked if he could help us and looked puzzled because we were there. I said we wanted to get lunch and he quickly stated we couldn't eat in the restaurant (although there was not one customer other than us) and said we could eat in our car or outside at a table. He was on the phone the whole time with what sounded like a personal call as he had the person on speaker. He finally came over and asked us what we wanted and then he disappeared again without letting us answer. After 10 minutes of being basically ignored, we left. I was torn between three and four stars, but my fond memories of my meal pushed it up to four. There were some glitches, but the food was excellent. Our party of four arrived on what happened to be their official Grand Opening night. There was a buffet of food being served outside, along with musicians and a bounce house in the parking lot. In addition to all of that, regular dinner service was going on in the restaurant. We ordered chicken pakora and pitas stuffed with ground lamb. The pakora was delicious; definitely the best quality and flavor I've ever had. We never saw our lamb pita, but were instead given cheese pakora. We were hungry (and this dish was also quite good), so we didn't complain. We never received the lamb pita. The menu describes three spice levels for most entrees, but a woman who stopped by our table (probably an owner or manager) said there were actually five. They ranged from very mild to "911." Our group ordered very mild Chicken tikka masala, a very spicy Chicken tikka masala, hydrabadi lamb, chicken coconut curry, rice, and two types of naan. The "very spicy" Tikka was just a bit too spicy for me to enjoy. I drank a lot of water and beer to compensate! Still, the flavors were great. The hydrabadi lamb turned out to be chicken, though it took us a while to tell because of the heavy amount of sauce. I didn't care for the flavors of this dish. Too much of some sort of spice. Galangal, maybe? The coconut curry was really good. I love carbs, so I enjoyed every bit of the naan and rice. We had a difficult time communicating with a couple of staff members, but everyone was professional and working quite hard. The owner/manager checked in on us a couple of times, which was nice. Because of everything that was going on at the restaurant that night, I really didn't mind the menu mixups. Service was quick.
