The view from here is amazing! It is the same view that you get from Sam's Chowder house, minus the horrible parking and large crowds. The food is rock solid! BEST calamari, HUGE samosas, and the most IN DEPTH flavors on their butter chicken. We sat outside and were treated like special guests, they even helped us move our table to access some more shade in the fall sun. We shared all dishes: Tandoori chicken, chicken Masala, and cream spinach, all served with spinach naan wrap. The Tandoori chicken was served steamed; both chicken dishes were well-cooked, but moist. The Masala sauce was creamy, with just the right amount of curry (my fingers are still yellow as I write this) and spicy - but not too spicy. Reasonably priced, less than $35. for everything. TL;DR: Relaxing ambiance (although mostly empty), but don't come here looking for authentic Indian food --- I really struggled writing this one because they are family-owned and I want mom-and-pop places to do well, especially those in HMB. But, as a respecting Indian food cook myself (as is is my Caucasian spouse) I expect higher quality food than what was served. Yes, the cooks were Indian which is why I was surprised. Chapati was really not chapati - it was some type of doughy Tandoori roti. The baingan bharta was super garlicy and saucy. The ambiance had a bunch of mixed pictures - Italian, Indian, and random pictures of NYC and other places. Everything sat heavy (oil, spice, garlic) and it still didn't taste good. We have been coming here many years now & I can say that we have never been disappointed. We travel nearly 2hrs each way & it's so worth it! The owners are so nice, the atmosphere so peaceful & the food is amazing!!! We always get the chicken coconut curry, basmati rice, naan bread w/a side of mango chutney & daal soup. Tonight we tried the Karahi mushroom dish. My new favorite! And then finish your meal off with some homemade coconut ice cream or Gulab jamun-milk dumplings in rose flavored sugar syrup. I am so glad that I choose this place for my date. They lit a candle and red rose on the side. It was very romantic and let me talk about food, the food there was awesome. I ordered "Punjabi Style Chicken Curry" which was so good. I had told the server to make it heavy spicy and it was worth it. Chicken briyani was good as well. Do try their calamari pakora as well. We've been going to India Beach for years (since before they took over the old Gibralter space), so this is an overdue review. Food: consistently good (not amazing, but solid). We've probably had ten difference dishes, and most of the ones Americans gravitate towards are good. Staff: very nice people. There were a couple of times they were a little under staffed, but they usually get it right and consistently have a good attitude. They've also delivered (all the way) to Pacifica, which many places wouldn't do, and the food's always hot (we appreciate it!). Ambiance: the place is nice and chill. I ordered my meal off GrubHub at 6:15 and the wait time said 60-70 minutes. When 70 minutes passed and the food still wasn't delivered I called the restaurant directly and they said they hadn't even sent a driver because they were so busy. They assured me that a driver would be sent in 10 minutes. I continued to wait until about two hours had passed since when I placed my order. I call again and they say they still haven't sent out my food for delivery with the excuse yet again that the business is booming. I called once more after waiting 30 minutes and they say that they are having car troubles to the point where I have to drive to the restaurant to pick up my food. I walk into the restaurant and there are 3 customers. I am livid as they give me my order with the excuse that their car broke down. The order should have been delivered to me in 60-70 minutes as the initial wait said, but again when I called 2 hours after I placed my order they hadn't even left the restaurant with my food. It is appalling how they treat customers who aren't sit-down. I am a local and it is such a shame that this place had such bad service. If I had the choice I would not have tipped them, but the order was pre-paid online and non-refundable. An additional comment is how expensive their menu is. My bill came out to about $50 for 3 dishes and they were small. The food is good but not worth the expense for the small portion. read more

If you're coming from the south on Hwy 1, using the back roads for the last few miles will save time given that the main highway is jammed most fair weather weekends. Gracious wait staff will attend to your every need and there's the option to sit at one of two (or three) low table seating areas with adjacent shoe cubbies. The best Indian food we had during our weekend at Half Moon Bay! Has a sea view and pretty Indian interior decor. I think it's quite new in the area and when we looked for reviews on yelp there weren't many. But, we still thought we'd give it a try and yes, it was well worth it!
