    First of three servings.

I settled for the buffet after playing tennis. For $22 all you can eat buffet. Since I've never shied away from food I had three helpings. I was one happy camper. I didn't bother in trying to remember what I ate but it was good! Service was alright. Pretty quiet restaurant situated across the street from Grocery Outlet. Well worth going back to.

Hands down one of the best Indian buffets around. After 20+ years still has the best naan, tandoori chicken and goat curry. Favorites are spinach and cauliflower but call ahead as they don't have it everyday. Pretty and new layout with silver serving dishes and soft serve machine for dessert. Service is great, hostess is always friendly and place is always busy. Lunch closes at 2pm. Friendly ambiance like you're at an old friend's house.

Came here recently twice and both for the buffet! A little pricey but the selection is great. The food is always good here, I love all the selections of curry and the naan. The serve yourself chai is delicious as well! There's parking in the back.

I went to the buffet and it was good! The butter chicken was my favorite. My mom loved the goat. Everything was good! There is chai tea too! Perfect for a cold day at the buffet. The ice cream tasted like vanilla pudding which I liked. Their watermelon was super sweet. Staff is nice for the most part.

First time at India Palace and it was a comforting Indian food that hits the spot. I had the chicken basmati rice, lamb palak, and Mulligatawny soup -- all warm, flavorful, and well-spiced without going overboard. The lamb palak was rich and savory, the rice was fragrant and fluffy. The spiced lentil soup was smooth, but I preferred one with more texture. I ended up eating it as a curry over the rice the next day. Solid portions, friendly service, and an easy place to come back to when you want something comforting.

So delicious! The staff was very nice and our food came out super quick. Everything was so flavorful and the lamb was very tender. The restaurant was very nice and had a good atmosphere. Definitely would go again.

It has been a long while, like 5 yrs I hadn't gone here. I went for buffet but it wasn't the day. Ordered what I wanted and yum! Still the same quality and yumminess. Was served fast and fresh! Loved my palak paneer. Thank you to the amazing lady who understood my time limitation. I am glad they are still open. The Indian music ( one of fav songs was playing) added to the greatness of the did.

There aren't a lot of good Indian restaurants in the area, but I did like I did Palace. Staff and Service: - We came here soon after opening time on a Thursday evening and got seated right away. Seats started to fill up around 6:00pm - Our server was very nice Food and Drinks: - Mango Lassi: not the typical mango lassi I've had in the past. Not as creamy as usual - more on the tart side. - Tikka Masala Curry: so good! Creamy, flavorful, abundant, etc. I could have eaten this whole thing by myself - Garlic Naan: also delicious and flavorful - House Salad: this was almost a meal in itself. We thought this would be a small side salad, but there was enough for 3+ people Miscellaneous. - Parking is available via street parking (there is a parking lot connected to the restaurant, but this is for the apartments only) - Good for small and large groups - Pretty quiet restaurant

    Vegetable Samosa...a must!

My last visit was during Covid, outside dinning... This time, I ordered Vegetable Samosa, Malai Kofta, Bhindi Malasa with Basmati Safron Rice and Tandoori Roti. I got hungry, lol. Everything on the menu looks sooo good. All dishes are delicious!! The samosa are always tasty, especially the refreshing cilantro sauce....yummy! The waitress is so courteous & friendly. Great experience & lots of left over. Will be back again for Masala Tea! ** Tips: Buffet is on Wed-Sat from 11:00am to 2:00pm (subject to change)

Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 5/5 Food - 5/5 I've always passed this restaurant but finally had the chance to try it and was pleasantly impressed! I don't eat Indian cuisine often but my fiancé loves it. We both agreed this was one of the best Indian restaurants we've had. Garlic Naan - butter garlic and bread? Delicious Vegetable Samosa - so good especially with the sauces. Would definitely order again. Chicken Biryani - this had amazing flavor and was a big portion size! We had leftovers for the next day. Tandoori Mix Grill - wow! So good. This came out sizzling and was a mix of lamb, chicken, beef and shrimp. So good with our rice.

We came on Mother's Day, so take that for what it is. We were seated pretty quickly, given our menus, and then I think our server forgot about us. She came back eventually and took our order. Our food came sans naan. My daughter wanted to take her aesthetic photo so she was waiting for the naan before eating. Probably 10 minutes later, a male, not our server said "oh! The bread!" Came back a few minutes later with the naan. The food was decent. I will say the sauce for the tikka misala was a bit more thin than I was expecting. But flavor was still fine. I guess the male server guy was trying to make it up to us because he brought us a couple desserts with the check. The table behind us, it was a guy and his mom, he had asked probably 3 times for some bread or something because his mom was diabetic and wasn't feeling that great. It had been about 15-20 minutes and no one brought them anything. I asked again for them when we were leaving. I felt bad for them. Im not sure if they were short staffed, or if they aren't used to it being so busy because of Mother's Day. But, hopefully the service is better normally.

Found this spot while looking for an Indian food spot near the Oakland airport and found the food here pretty decent. Really liked their tea and samosa and the chicken tikka masala, naan and Chana masala were pretty decent too. Service was quick and the place has plenty of both indoor and outdoor dining.

Ask the Community - India Palace

A lot of restaurants are offering buffet again. Is your buffet back?

I called them about this today -- they've brought back the lunch buffet on Thurs, Fri, and Sat only. $21.99 per person.

Do you offer buffet at dinner?

I don't think they are offering any buffet these days, due to Covid. I was there a month or so ago and they were not offering buffet lunch. You could always call to be sure.

I've been here for several years now, and love the food but have always wondered, is this considered North Indian or South Indian cuisine?

I would say India Palace serves food that is more South Indian. Actually, it is Indian food designed for the American palate. It is delicious, nonetheless. Enjoy!

    Is lunch buffet open?

    No more Buffet sir

    Lunch buffet open?

    Not yet dear

Do you serve halal meat? If so, what is halal?

No halal meat. You can have vegetarian or fish.

    Lunch buffet back on Saturdays?

Do they do indoor seating now? Do they still do the lunch buffet?

Is the meat halal or not like the chicken or the beef?

    No, not halal

Is the lunch buffet served 6 days a week?

    Yes

What is the lunch buffet hours?

    11 AM to 2PM

I think the food is different than what I am used to but in a good way, good variety! I am an adventurous eater so honestly, I don't even know what items came in the plate I ordered. I ordered a chicken platter/dish. It came with some rice and some sides. As for the sides, one of the sides definitely had a kick, it was spicy! I also received some "chips" on the side. Not sure what it was made out of but not the typical tortilla chips, it tasted different. I am also not sure if this is supposed to be eaten with the curry-like side or not but that's what I did. I mixed a lot of the sides together with the chicken. I enjoyed the dish quite a bit. I like the different and unique flavors, definitely very flavorful. Definitely, very good service, very nice and helpful. I felt like this food truck took longer than the other food trucks but I feel like the food here is more involved but it isn't significantly longer. Overall, good experience with the food and happy I got to try it!

Fish and Chips $15: You get 4 medium sized pieces, and I'd say a McDonald's small size of fries. So, decent amount but not particularly little or large. The fish thought I couldn't tell was raw or not. It tasted stiff so seemed cooked but the flesh was translucent, so by color it appears raw. Has the texture of recently frozen and defrosted meat. The surface was nicely crisp but there was more raw dough than cooked underneath. Overall fish wasn't great. Fries were good, and seasoned with some Indian seasoning. There was a hot sauce made from ground chili which was good. The Indian yellow sauce was far too watery. 3/10 2. Coconut juice $4: It was a 17oz can. I'd pass next time. When I approached the front counter, the lady present was very standoffish with me. I informed her of why I was there and she asked my name for the order. Upon giving her my name she then glared at me and literally asked me to recite my entire order lol! I showed her my online receipt in which she then insisted I still tell her my order. She brushed away my receipt and let another customer cut in front of me. Interestingly, the customer told her his name and she retrieved his order with no issue and was very friendly with him. To note, I was the only Black person present at that time. When I inquired as to why that customer wasn't asked to recite his entire order, she grinned and said that he's a "regular" and that I was "new." She went on to let a few other customers cut in front of me. I then asked for my money back in which she refused to return. Even when I asked for the manager, she said he was very busy. I made several requests for this resulting in her saying no and refusing to return my money. I then noted to her I'm calling the authorities in which I did. Furthermore, while servicing some of the other patrons, she would speak in another language with them while they looked at me and start laughing and staring me down. Eventually, the manager came out. He presented himself professionally and upon explaining what occurred he apologized and said it was unacceptable. He even offered me a drink with my meal and asked that I please accept the order instead and wanted to make things right. I took him at face value and said fine. While the situation was remedied, I definitely will not be returning to this restaurant. I researched some of the other reviews and came across several where other Black patrons have had similar racially motivated experiences here. That tells me there's a common practice of racism here. I refuse to support a business where this kind of behavior is tolerated. I have zero tolerance for bigots of any kind. Overall, the experience was a waste of my time and very dehumanizing. To hate someone you don't even know simply because of their skin pigmentation and ethnicity is irrational at best and bad for business especially in a place like Oakland where it's multicultural. My advice would be to not support this establishment. I especially advise any Black patrons not to come here as they clearly have issue with anyone who is simply Black, despite not knowing them as a person. Don't give your money, nor your valuable time, to hateful individuals who dehumanize others. All in all, this place gets a thumbs down.
