Online descriptions are very misleading, choose to pay on location, check out woman charged me two dollars more to pay with my credit card. Spent over $22 on two adult dinner size meals. This indian restaurant ROCKS!!! I went here for business meetings several times and everyone always enjoys the meals! My favorite is probably the tikka masala. The lunch buffet is the best - $6.99 for vegetarian dishes and $7.99 for dishes with meat. If I could give them 10 STARS I would! FANTASTIC FOOD and customer service. Over the top customer service! Very reasonable prices and good sized portions (I have three young sons, so quantity matters too :) My daughter got married in Simi Valley, CA. I was looking for a place to take some wedding guests (siblings, children, friends) out to eat. Yelp rated them highly and it was close to the church, so I gave them a try. I'm glad I did. They said they could only accommodate 15 at the main table down the middle of the restaurant, but when we showed up with 17 (free food for the out of town guests :) they moved booths and found seating for everyone together at the main table. They did everything with a smile a great attitude. When I told them several in the group needed to catch a flight out, please make sure they get served first. They did all they could to meet that request and everyone made it to the airport with time to spare. Everyone loved the food (I still have people complimenting me on the restaurant), even my brother who said he doesn't like Indian food - lol. Disclaimer: I am writing this review based on my Monday Evening delivery experience. First things first, let's begin with the phone order/delivery. The only protein choice they had was chicken though, wish they had some lamb but can't complain for the price. You have to ask for naan if you want it and they offer plain or garlic. I just went there for the first time this evening because I was searching for an authentic Indian food restaurant nearby. They were very sweet and I loved the atmosphere! I ordered chicken tikka masala, basmati rice, plain naan, and samosas. I loved everything! I actually ordered it spicy but it didn't seem that spicy to me. Maybe the rice helped a lot, but I've definitely made spicier tikka masala at home. The spice combinations they use are just wonderful! And the food I got was plenty for two people. It was a perfect amount. Their naan is delicious and doesn't need anything on it, in my opinion. I am definitely adding this place to my list of favorites. The ambiance of this restaurant was well lit and had nice view outside of LA ave. compared to other Indian restaurants I've been to which seems to be in a gloomy banquet hall. My only issue is with the customer service. My friend asked if he could get a to-go box for the naan bread to which the server denied his request out loud in front of another table. Two years ago when I came to Simi Valley for apartment hunting, some friends and I had buffet here. We were so disappointed with the food, I told myself I will never go back here. However few months ago, we had ordered food from here to our workplace. Although their quality of food has definitely improved, the food (to me) is average tasting. They also redid their interiors and the restaurant looks much better. I am writing this review just keeping in mind their Gobi Manchurian. It is my only favorite from here and I often crave it and have it to go alot. Still haven't gone back for a buffet yet (I would be very mad at myself if I didn't like the food again and wasted my money!) but maybe someday. Sometimes second chances are good! :D read more

We've eaten the lunch buffet and we found the majority of the offerings lacking in bold flavors but we recalled liking the rice pudding/kheer and the Chicken Tikka Masala. Tonight we ordered via Door Dash. The order came very fast and was quite hot on arrival. The garlic naan had a lot of flavor but was a little soggy. The naan pouch was open when it arrived and my husband closed it so that's likely how it got soggy. We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, basmati rice, Chicken Biryani. We thought a rice would come with the Chicken Tikka Masala but it did not so we were glad we ordered rice. The Masala was mild in flavor. The rice and all other ingredients were of a lesser quality. The kheer was less sweet then most other places which can be nice but really it just felt diluted. The Biryani was enjoyable. Good flavor and the spice was mild as we ordered and was very palatable. Would order the Biryani and garlic naan again. Probably will order the kheer again too. Though it wasn't perfect I still enjoyed it. read more

Here the other night and not pleased at all with the food. Were you playing a game when we ordered medium spices and you sent mouth burning pure acid to our table in all our dishes? What the heck are you thinking? Also, not pleased the way the gal working the cashier tried to trick us with a Yelp check-in coupon. The bill came with the 10% discount but when the credit card receipt came back for signing the discount was removed. I tried this restaurant because of Yelp reviews. If those reviews are correct than I believe the restaurant must have changed hands. The food was not great. I ordered several meals over the internet and had obtained a 10% discount through Yelp. When I picked up the order ($71+) I showed the discount and was told by hostess that her boss said the discount was not good on internet orders. The hostess was apologetic but the owner did not come out to explain. I advised her I would complain through Yelp review but no evidence of any concern. When I got home we noticed that we received only one order of Naan while we had ordered and paid for 4. She said that we could come and pick up the Naan or she would give cash refund. We asked for credit card credit but was told that was not possible.. I drove back and obtained the cash refund. We had advised them on the internet that we would be using the 10 percent discount but the owner/manager did not see fit to advise us that the would not honor it. read more

This is the place that got me to truly fall in love with Indian food. Truly. If I had to choose my last meal... this is it. Things to definitely try: Simosa- Potato, peas, carrot, and meat breaded and deep fried- with spicy cilantro sauce and sweet tamarind sauce to dip.... one of the best appetizers. Garlic Nan- Fresh, hot, and garlicky, perfect to dip into the many delicious sauces- such as the chicken tiki masala. AND COMPLIMENTARY with your meal... Chicken Tiki Masala- white meat chicken, diced potato, and sauteed onions in a orange, creamy curry sauce... soooooo GOOD! Saag Paneer- spinach and cubes of cheese in a creamy sauce made with the best indian spices. I've also tried their dishes with cauliflower and eggplant in it... I'm not quite sure of the names, but I have NEVER, EVER tried anything that disappointed me here. I have tried other Indian restaurants in hopes that I wouldn't have to drive all the way to Simi Valley for great Indian food and unfortunately this place is one of a kind. OK, my take on food - there's a difference between authenticity and "good". Take pizza for example - the pizza you get in America is nothing like you'll get in Italy, right? but it's good.. that's because it's been altered for the American palate. There are some places that I got to that are "authentic", but they're so authentic that it's hard for me to truly enjoy the flavor. I start wishing as I'm eating that this requires some more oregano, or lemon, or something.. but that would rob it of it's authenticity. This is both "authentic" (there were Indian families eating there) and "good". After you're finished eating, then go buy the ingredients next door. the little shop is awesome and packed with stuff I'd never seen before. I can't say that I'm an expert on authentic Indian food, but I can say that I know what I love to eat. I am addicted to craveable Indian food, a sensory overload that explodes with texture, spiciness and sweetness. My favorite dishes are chicken tikka masala and lamb korma and Indian Haweli did not disappoint. While the sauces aren't visibly creamy, the texture is still smooth and while flavorful, still pretty light tasting. As far as spiciness, this place is calibrated more towards those who enjoy spiciness, luckily that includes me! Although the decor isn't exactly noteworthy, with booths on either side and a little shop next door, the food is delicious. The lamb korma is a must-order. I have ordered this at many, many places and no place is exactly the same. Indian Haweli's version is perfectly balanced - the tangy, savory, spiciness and impressively tender lamb makes for a thoroughly enjoyable dish. The nutty flavor combined with the sweet raisins are just delectable - I have to stop myself from sopping every last drop with the naan. My mouth is watering as I write this review! The chicken tikka masala is great. While not the best I have ever ate, it is up there and very satisfying. Very mom and pop style restaurant with tasty Indian food. This review is only for the lunch buffet. I went and tried it with my friend, it was only $7.99 for the lunch buffet which is really cheap. They had their usual tikki marsala, tandoori chicken, aloo gobi, a paneer curry, two different rices and samosas, pakora curry. few other dishes I couldn't remember. On the day I went they also had chili chicken which kind of reminds me of a Indian version of orange chicken. I thought the food had good flavor and a nice spicy amount of heat to it which was nice. You get a choice of regular naan or garlic naan. I opted for the garlic naan and I thought it was great. It had a nice crisp and doughyness to it. Overall I like this place and would go again if I'm in the area. For the price to food ratio it was really good. Only thing I didn't like was their Keer (rice pudding) it had a texture of raw egg whites, flavor was fine but weird texture. read more
