First Visit to Indigenous Eats - A Flavorful Experience! Located in a food court-style setting, I wasn't quite sure what to order at first. Luckily, the staff were super friendly and happy to offer recommendations. I ended up trying the HUNTER - GROUND BISON and the Three Sisters Soup. HUNTER - GROUND BISON Absolutely delicious! The seasoned ground bison had a bold, savory flavor thanks to their house-blended sage-forward seasoning. It was generously topped with shredded lettuce, tomato, onion, black beans, cheese, and pickled jalapeños, all tied together with tangy tomatillo salsa and a drizzle of sour cream. The base was a freshly fried bread--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside--that reminded me of an Indian taco. So satisfying! Three Sisters Soup This comforting soup features corn, beans, and squash--the traditional "three sisters" crops grown by many Indigenous tribes. The flavors were earthy and naturally sweet, making it both nourishing and culturally meaningful. A perfect complement to the bison dish. Overall, a great experience! The setting is casual, but the food is full of heart and heritage. I really appreciated the chance to try Indigenous-inspired cuisine in such an approachable way. Can't wait to come back and explore more of the menu!

Let me preface this by saying I just returned from eating at one of the best fry bread spots in Arizona-- That said, this was just okay. It's basically the Taco Bell version of a fry bread taco. Still, I enjoyed it for what it was.

I have been wanting to try this place for such a long time and I finally did it!! So glad I did!! The service was just fine. We ordered at the counter and they were kind and accommodating. The food took a bit to come out, but it was FRESH and delicious! I got the rancher with no beans and my husband got the hunter. We both really loved our food. I can't wait to go back and try the meat pies! Can't believe we missed those on the menu!! Not much to say about the ambiance. It was open and clean. No complaints! Can't wait to go back!!

Always a great place to grab lunch while visiting Gonzaga. The food is delicious and always Oder the fry bread with Huckleberry. The service is top notch quick, friendly and always ready to answer questions. The ambience is welcoming, warm and brings in the Native American heritage. Thank you and will be looking forward to our next visit.

The location is great, as it's right next to Gonzaga campus. There was no wait and the dining area was clean. Lots of seating. Ordered the frybread which is exactly what it sounds, fried bread. I think I was expecting more? I also got the huckleberry drink, which was tart. The bread was good and fresh, but should probably be eaten with something else if you're trying to make a meal of it. Also, the employees were super nice.

Why not support great Indigenous owned businesses when given the chance? I heard great things about the food, so I made my way to the food court in the mall to try it out. The man who took our order was friendly and helpful, like most of the people we encountered in Spokane. I ordered a Gatherer rice bowl, which was the vegetarian option, and split the fry bread with huckleberry sauce with my friend. It helped that I was starving, but I was definitely satisfied with my plate! The cashier said their wild rice was really good, and he was right. The bowl had plenty of toppings (lettuce, tomato, jalapeños, etc.) and a choice of black or pinto beans. You can also opt out of toppings you don't like. When we got to that fry bread dessert, though! It was so delicious, flavorful dough sprinkled with powdered sugar. We spread the butter and huckleberry sauce on it and ate every bit!

The food, service, ambience, and value exceeded my expectations. The menu offered a good variety of options, all with an Indigenous flavor and/or theme. I had the Three Sisters Soup which was hearty, flavorful, and a perfect size for a small meal or as a starter. I also had the NdN Tacos with no-cost wild rice substitution for frybread. It had many options to choose which provided a wonderful customization. Even the price was very reasonable. I will definitely return the next time I am in Spokane.

I visited here for lunch during a recent work trip. It's conveniently located near Gonzaga University, although I did not see very many college students eating there...maybe it was the say I came though. Inside, it's a modern spot with even a small mezannine area for additional seating in the center of the space. Their menu is very small, choose an entree, they only have 2.....the build your own INDIAN TACO and the BURGER. they have a few side items, the soup, wild rice, and tater tots, and one dessert. The dessert is just fry bread with butter and huckleberry sauce. I ordered the NDN taco as it's sometimes called with bison, chili beans, all the toppings and all the salsas. If you've ever had Indian fry bread, this is a pretty standard tasting bread,, the only things I noticed were there was really nothing special about the beans, they seemed canned, and the Buffalo tasted very very similar to ground beef. So I'm not sure if it was worth the extra $2 to get that protein as I'm sure the ground beef was just as good, I'd not better tasting. I also added a fry bread dessert , and a huckleberry lemonade, I guess I like berries a lot. For lunch, it was a little pricy trying a few of their items, at $28. The restaurant was clean and service was excellent. Much better than your typical fast casual restaurant. The one thing I would change if I ever came back was to order the bowl with rice, as it was just too much fry bread when you order the dessert....if dining alone.

Best food we've had in awhile! And both employees I talked to were super friendly. The ingredients were super fresh. I especially liked the pinto beans and pickled jalapeños. The fry bread was the perfect texture and not oily tasting. I wish we were staying in Spokane longer- we would definitely be back every day!

A deeper dive showed a good possibility of gluten free options, so I made the reservation. I was in town on a Monday, just after Hoopfest, but they were the kind of busy where a reservation should always be made I think. My table was ready and I sat in the bar at a high top table. I think I would choose "in the dining room" next time. My server was friendly and quick, as well as knowledgeable about gluten free options. There is even a separate menu that lays out the dishes that are already gf or could be made to be. Love this, always. I ordered the summer salad to start. It was amazing. Flavorful. Fresh. The mint wasn't overpowering, the watermelon was the perfect ripeness. It was so good. I would try to recreate it but it was done so well, and I know I couldn't hit that dressing in the same way. Get it while you can. For my main, I had ordered the scallops in my brain before I even arrived. The risotto was a little soupy, but the flavor was SO good. The corn came through and it went so well with the scallops. The tomatoes were quite over salted, but as long as I didn't eat them alone, it was alright. The scallops were perfectly cooked and I felt like the portion was appropriately sized for the dish, even though there were only 4. My server really made the experience enjoyable. The atmosphere was busy but the booths looked like they could be cozy. The prices were on the higher end. But for a special occasion, it was worth it. I really wished I'd had room for dessert. I will surely go back the next time I am in town.

First off, I was looking for an authentic Napoli style pizza. Like a fresh red sauce from crushed tomatoes and a beautiful chewy, pillowy, yet charred crust. The verdict: Wooden City is the winner! The crust is really really good! The sauce is a bright beautiful tomato sauce that looks like crushed tomatoes however, the sauce was lacking flavor:( I would give this pizza a 3 out of 5. The crust is a 4 1/2 star but the sauce lacking in flavor..brought it down to a 3. Cute place, very pleasant friendly staff..way friendlier vibe than Barrelhouse. The boys are easy on the eyes for younger girls on the hunt! Lmao Don't bother with the Margherita pizza at Barrelhouse. Thank God I only paid $12 for the Margherita Monday deal of half off! The crust was horrible! Dominos has better crust! Costco pizza's had a better crust! The sauce has flavor, very garlicky like fresh garlicky but more of a paste with a load of oregano in it. The cheese didn't have that fresh taste I was hoping for. However, they are known for their Detroit pizza's which I haven't tried but if it's the same sauce, I would pass. Not saying it's bad but it's just not MY cup of tea whether it's for a Detroit style or any pizza. Now you don't have to guess which place has a better Margherita pizza. I wouldn't even pay $12 at Barrelhouse for a marg. Would I come back, yes, if I were in my 20's.. lol but since I'm older and the food is more important to me...no...:/ But hey, maybe their other pizza's are better! I can see a salty pepperoni being good!

This evening we decided we would go to Sorella. A gorgeous photo of their focaccia brought us in. Since finishing chemo and radiation for my breast cancer, food has been an interesting experience for me, so when I want something, I go for it immediately. I will note, if you're interested in trying Sorella, BOOK A TABLE! We were able to snag seats at the bar, but even on a Tuesday, this place is in demand, and after enjoying our meal, I can see why. When we walked in, we were stunned. Beyond the natural light flooding into the roo,m there were gorgeous deep teal walls with a gallery wall and gold accents. The bar was adorned with gorgeous counter tops that had low lights, and a mix of velvety chairs gave it a soft luxe feel. The aroma of the food was lightly sprinkled throughout, and the décor were simply stunning. It would be a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, date night or just a casual moment with friends. A full menu is available at the bar and the staff was incredibly attentive - more details on our experience are below, after the food review. Now let's talk about what we ordered. We got the Focaccia (of course), Arancini, Dante's meatballs, the Cesare, the Limone and a Pasta Speciale. Focaccia - 10/10 I love when food tastes as good as it looks. The focaccia melted in my mouth and carried so much flavor on its own. The whipped brown butter was such an excellent addition and truly a masterpiece to add to it. I could have easily ordered two more (and I should have). Arancini - My rating 7/10, My wife's rating 9/10 The presentation was beautiful on this dish. My rating centers around my taste buds not aligning with the flavor profile, and not really knowing what to expect. I find myself preferring a stronger, almost cheesy flavor now, and this was a bit more subtle. My wife, however, fully enjoyed them and loved the flavor they carried even without the sauce. Dante's Meatballs 10/10 Spectacular, give me 12! These were so delicious, the meat was so flavorful and the sauce, WHEW the sauce was delicious. Yes, we did dip the focaccia in the sauce. Cesare - 10/10 I love a good salad, and Caesar is my favorite. At other restaurants, I find myself wanting more dressing or more flavor ,and I often feel like pieces of the salad are missed when preparing. This salad was dressed from end to end. We squeezed the lemon on top, and it sealed the deal. Every bite was fresh and had a slight crunch and crisp that was exactly what we were looking for. Limone - 10/10 When we looked at the menu, my wife glanced over and immediately knew what I was ordering, and after my first bite, I was so glad that I did. The execution of this dish was perfect. The noodles were thick and almost creamy alongside the butter, and there was the perfect balance with the parmigiana reggiano. When I order it again (because we will be back), I will definitely add prawns. Pasta Speciale - 8/10 I meant to snap a photo of the menu, but this was on the special menu. There were prawns, mornay, garlic, arugula and a few other things that I am forgetting. The prawns were incredibly fresh, as were the noodles, and the flavors blended very nicely in this dish. Lemonade - 10/10 The lemonade was delicious! I don't know that I've mentioned this on any of my reviews before, but I love lemonade and order it with every meal outside of breakfast. This lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Limoncello - 10/10 We shared two of the housemade limoncello shots to go as we were checking out, and I wish I had recorded our reaction. The execution of the flavor was perfect, and it definitely packed a punch! Our server/bartender was Mary Katherine, and beyond being the sweetest, she was also incredibly knowledgable of the menu. As luck would have it, we ended up sitting next to the owner's family and got to chat with her amazing Mother throughout the night (who was kind enough to let her try some of her delicious lasagna) and ended up meeting the owner. Lauren, the owner, took a pause to talk to us, and it was so evident that she is truly such a brilliant and sweet soul. She radiates, and who she is as a person aligns exactly with how Sorella feels: ethereal. Overall, we had an amazing experience, from the ambiance to the service, the conversation at the bar, and the delicious food. We cannot wait to try Fratello's, the sandwich shop also owned by Lauren, this week.

The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
