Fabric shows that my sewing machine is working good after Kevin checked it.
    Leah M.

I ran into problems with my 15+ year old Kenmore 385 Sewing Machine while making the 3rd batch of face masks (FM) I'm making for my aging Uncle & my in-laws. I was using different color fabrics; hence, changing the threads & bobbins from time to time. I had to stop too many times as thread & bobbin kept on jamming. It was getting so frustrating that bobbin case was trying to spit out the bobbin itself and was eating up too much threads from the top spool. I didn't want to give up on this face mask project as I knew how the recipients will be needing them ASAP and that I already purchased cotton fabrics to complete this project. To add to my dilemma, when I checked on line, the prices of brand new sewing machines are too expensive if I were to replace my 15+ machine. I refuse to replace this old one just to complete this FM project. This is the same sewing machine, after all, I used to make doll dresses for my daughter's American Girl dolls, w/c I thought was too expensive to purchase when she was in 4th Grade. 12 yrs fast forward (she's now a College Sophomore), my heart sank to find out on the first quote for repair was the same price as that of a regular sewing machine! I DO NOT intend to make money making these face mask, why would I need a brand new sewing machine to replace the old one? So I was excited when Kevin answered me right after the first repair shop texted. Kevin gave me a fair price & was told that he has a special price to people making face masks. I won't need a brand new sewing machine after all! Much more, the 3rd batch of face masks that I made will not end up w/ glue gun plastics to attach the elastics just like the 2nd. That being said, Kevin is very knowledgeable & thorough with his craft. He even left a piece of fabric that he tested on the machine to show how good my old sewing machine still is. It functioned like a brand new machine right out of the box. Check out the attached picture. He explained the cause of the problem: wrong size of bobbin, bent needle, & wrong thread size for the needle. Whew! Nothing's wrong with my sewing machine after all--only the sewing machine owner. He even offered to put oil on the machine for the same price. We will be forever thankful for the Front Liners who are working and dedicating themselves in helping others in this pandemic we're currently in. But in this scenario, I am thankful to people, just like Kevin, who's NOT taking advantage of the situation & yet able to use his knowledge to help others who are, also, just trying to help other people. Thanks, Kevin!

Called a month ago asking for a quote for an old Montgomery sewing machine repair, Kevin was able to give me an over the phone consultation and thankfully able to help solve my issue on the spot with just a few pictures provided. It was certain to me in that 10 min conversation that Kevin was well knowledge and I appreciated his friendly patients attitude.

    Consew double needle after repairs

Repaired and regauged my consew double needle machine and now it works perfectly. Service was done very quickly and at a reasonable cost. Kevin is very knowledgeable and helpful with all aspects of industrial sewing. I've been using the machine for over a month and it works flawlessly.

So I requested a quote on Sunday night and didn't expect a response but Kevin messaged me right back to tell me to bring over my old Singer the next day for him to check it out. Kevin was very quick and thorough. I could totally tell that he genuinely cared about fixing the machine correctly. AND I got it back the same day I dropped it off!! Thanks Kevin!! The sewing machine works like it's brand new!!

Kevin went out of his way to help me repair two industrial serger sewing machine tables that collapsed in a moving van ! He was so sweet and efficient and he charged me much less than anyone else I spoke to about the job! I highly recommend him, He also gave my machine's a once over to be sure they weren't damaged in the collapse. Forever grateful, I was a mess when the tables arrived smashed and my machine's were dangling for their lives ! Hooray ! I'm back to work!

He sent pictures of an update on how the machine was doing.

Scheduled a visit on the same day, quickly diagnosed the issue and clearly explained to me what it was. Since the dishwasher was old, we decided to replace it instead of spending on it. Ely has done work for us in the past too and I've found him reliable. Thanks, Ely!

Highly recommend Eli and SmartFix for any appliance repair work. Over the span of two weeks, I've…read moreworked with Eli three times, and each visit reinforced how much expertise he brings to refrigerator diagnosis and detailed repair work. He does great work and charges what I think are very reasonable prices for the level of skill and quality involved. The first call was at my mother-in-law's house, where Eli diagnosed a broken compressor in her refrigerator that had stopped cooling. He did a great job working with my mother-in-law whose first language is not English. She was very happy. A few days later, he came to our house after some interior lights stopped working following a deep cleaning. He fixed the lights, then went well beyond that. Our freezer door hinge wiring harness had snapped nearly every wire inside, which had also taken out the ice maker. I'd honestly written the ice maker off after a few failed attempts to repair it myself, but Eli came in and showed it could absolutely be fixed, and done right. He patiently soldered and extended close to ten broken wires, heat-sealing and re-sheathing each one so the same failure wouldn't happen again. His fix also cost much less than replacing the whole door which was what I thought was going to have to be done. Finally, when we noticed water pooling under the refrigerator a few days later, Eli came back and dug into the back of the unit to clear a clogged compressor drain. He cleaned everything out in the process and helped put everything back together perfectly. It's more than just his expertise that I appreciated. Eli is friendly, honest, easy to work with, and a just a nice guy. He also took the time to engage with our three-and-a-half-year-old son, who was glued to every step of the repairs at our house, and made him feel like part of the project. Ever since, our son has been busy "fixing" everything in the house with his own toy tools. I'm really happy to have found Eli and SmartFix. He's the first person I'll be calling for any future appliance work at our home. Thank you, Eli!

TL;DR - This is a great review for Joy Appliance Repair and a terrible review for Thermador's…read morecustomer service. Joy Appliance Repair fixed the faulty fan of our built-in Thermador refrigerator (the defroster stopped working and the fan broke). Joyo, the owner, was very responsive in providing us with an estimate, ordering the right parts, and completing the repair. This was not a cheap fix (I guess that's part of the price you pay for a built-in Thermador refrigerator), and time will tell if our refrigerator keeps running smoothly, but we're grateful for Joyo's service and experience. Joyo is knowledgeable about Thermador's products, design, and manufacturing. If you have a Thermador, don't bother calling their service line - just call Joy Appliance Repair and get your fridge fixed. When our Thermador refrigerator started making rumbling noises, we knew something wasn't right. We suspected the fan was failing because the bottom drawer compartment was no longer feeling cold to the touch. After calling Thermador's service line and being told nonchalantly, "it's probably the fan freezing over" and "no way will your fridge die on you", we scheduled a service appointment with a Thermador technician (the earliest appointment was a week out). Lo and behold, 48 hours after that service call, our fridge stopped making noises - because it had stopped working altogether. Another call into the Thermador service line was met with total apathy, so we threw out all the food in the fridge and hung our hopes on our scheduled Thermador technician visit. Fast forward to the day of our appointment, and the technician cancels at the last minute, one hour into our arrival window. Customer service does not care - they simply reschedule us, this time two weeks out. At this point, we've purchased an emergency mini fridge, and we're scrolling through Yelp reviews in search of a refrigeration repair person who's familiar with Thermador and won't flake out on us. In comes Joy Appliance Repair to the rescue - Joyo examined our fridge, explained to us exactly what happened with the fan (apparently it's a known issue with this Thermador model), and laid out a plan for obtaining the parts and completing the repair. It took a few days for him to get the right parts and about 2 hours for the repair itself. His pricing was upfront and transparent, and we appreciated his clear and prompt communication. We won't hesitate to call on Joyo again if we experience issues with our Thermador appliances (fingers crossed we don't)!
