I was experiencing an issue with my machine's pedal and after reaching out to Industrial Sewing Machine Repair, Kevin let me know that it's likely I'd have to replace the pedal but he would take a look if I liked. I appreciated being given options and not being upsold in any way. I opted to have him take a look since I have never had it professionally looked at in its 20+ year lifespan, and we were all set from there! He let me know it would be about a week and sure enough, about a week later I hear back that it was a fixable pedal issue and he was able to restore the connection. The service was $100 overall and I feel good about it. Other places had quoted me twice as much just to look at it, and Kevin told me that if I gave it to him it would be more expensive than just replacing the pedal myself. For the repair instead of replacing an item, for the peace of mind, and the clean bill of health for my machine I feel like I got a great deal! Recently my Singer sewing machine stopped working. It had not been much used during the last few years. I ran into problems with my 15+ year old Kenmore 385 Sewing Machine while making the 3rd batch of face masks (FM) I'm making for my aging Uncle & my in-laws. I was using different color fabrics; hence, changing the threads & bobbins from time to time. I had to stop too many times as thread & bobbin kept on jamming. It was getting so frustrating that bobbin case was trying to spit out the bobbin itself and was eating up too much threads from the top spool. I didn't want to give up on this face mask project as I knew how the recipients will be needing them ASAP and that I already purchased cotton fabrics to complete this project. To add to my dilemma, when I checked on line, the prices of brand new sewing machines are too expensive if I were to replace my 15+ machine. I refuse to replace this old one just to complete this FM project. This is the same sewing machine, after all, I used to make doll dresses for my daughter's American Girl dolls, w/c I thought was too expensive to purchase when she was in 4th Grade. 12 yrs fast forward (she's now a College Sophomore), my heart sank to find out on the first quote for repair was the same price as that of a regular sewing machine! I DO NOT intend to make money making these face mask, why would I need a brand new sewing machine to replace the old one? So I was excited when Kevin answered me right after the first repair shop texted. Kevin gave me a fair price & was told that he has a special price to people making face masks. I won't need a brand new sewing machine after all! Much more, the 3rd batch of face masks that I made will not end up w/ glue gun plastics to attach the elastics just like the 2nd. I was looking for someone to help fix my Singer machine that I haven't touched in over 10 years. Old thread, old fabric, old machine, and I couldn't quite figure out why the back thread wasn't holding the stitch. I requested a quote via Yelp and Kevin was extremely responsive. We hopped on a video call and he was very knowledgeable and attentive to diagnosing the issue. He helped guide me through the process of tightening the bottom tension. The bottom thread was finally holding a stitch, however when the stitch looked off, he provided guidance on adjusting the top tension, needle, and thread. Over the next few days I was trying out different threads and I couldn't get the top tension quite right. I reached back out and he suggested I bring it to him to take a look. He had my machine back within 15 minutes after tuning the top tension and re-checking the bottom tension and the stitch was finally looking great! Not too many businesses listed as helping out with sewing machines, and I will be coming back here if I have any other problems with my machine. What happens right when the CDC recommends that everyone wear face masks (including handmade fabric ones)? Of course, my sewing machine breaks! Messaged Kevin at 9 pm on a Friday night and he responds in 5 minutes. He tells me, sure, bring it over tomorrow. Now, when I do bring it over, he asks if I have 5 min so he can check it out and make sure it's fixable. I said, sure. 5 min later, he comes out and tells me he that it's a simple fix. All he has to do is take my sewing machine apart, oil it up, and put it back together, and if I want to wait 5-10 minutes, he'll have it done. He kept me updated, was professional, honest and went above and beyond in trying to resolve the issue. My Consew sewing machine stopped working and I needed help. I called a few places and they responded by asking me to drop it off for repair and would get back to me at a later date. I then called Kevin and he spent the time over the phone to ask me questions about my Consew and how it stopped working.
