    Solid blocks of ice.
    Daniel L.

J and H is a freaking joke. Do not use, they are just scammers. We had a Whirlpool refrigerator we had for several years and had bought the extended warranty through Whirlpool. Our ice maker was freezing and causing large chunks of ice to build up. We never had this issue before. They sent out a guy from J and H Appliance. He diagnosed it and said whirlpool gave him a replacement ice maker but the issue was a valve issue. Said he needed to order the part and he would come back the following week. Following week he came back, replaced the valve and we still have the same issue but worse now. I looked up our issue online in the forums and they said it's probably an o-ring in the ice maker that went bad. We asked him to replace the ice maker but he said no. He just replaced a valve. He said he was the owner and he was the only person in my area that serviced whirlpool. I assume J and H technician bills for every service call to make their money. So by not actually fixing an appliance they can keep coming back. He didn't fix our issue, his resolution in the end was to use an ice pick to chip away at the ice. He said ALL whirlpool ice makers have ice built up. We never had this issue in the past, why now. I guess if you live in the Monterey area don't buy whirlpool, because J and H are the ONLY company in the area that can service whirlpool. Do not use J and H Appliances. It's all just a scam. In the end whirlpool sent them a brand new ice maker which they kept, refused to replace and billed whirlpool for a part they can charge a future customer. It's very bad business practice, to bill ie whirlpool for parts to pretend to use for a customer, but actually not fix the problem and keep the part for their own use to bill another customer. Yea you can make money, but is it really worth it??

In 10/23 I called because my fridge stopped making ice. They sent someone over and diagnosed the issue and replaced the ice maker motor. This cost 381$. It worked for 2 weeks until it stopped making ice again. Came back out and then diagnosed it as a bad wire in the door and that the whole door needs to be replaced, luckily it can be under warranty and will take 4 to 6 weeks for the door to arrive. I waited two months before contacting them and they said just keep waiting. I reached out again at four months and the dispatcher said it should take 2 to 3 months for the door to arrive and will pass the message along. It has been over seven months later and they have not reached out at all. At this point, I am wondering if they just forgot about me or have forgot to actually submit the order for a new door. I suppose they are happy with getting $381 out of me and stopping the service there. I've had to reach out to them every single time to get an update and at this point have given up. It is June 18, 2024 and I am still without ice , original service called date was October 2023.

He does great work and charges what I think are very reasonable prices for the level of skill and quality involved. The first call was at my mother-in-law's house, where Eli diagnosed a broken compressor in her refrigerator that had stopped cooling. He did a great job working with my mother-in-law whose first language is not English. She was very happy. A few days later, he came to our house after some interior lights stopped working following a deep cleaning. He fixed the lights, then went well beyond that. Our freezer door hinge wiring harness had snapped nearly every wire inside, which had also taken out the ice maker. I'd honestly written the ice maker off after a few failed attempts to repair it myself, but Eli came in and showed it could absolutely be fixed, and done right. He patiently soldered and extended close to ten broken wires, heat-sealing and re-sheathing each one so the same failure wouldn't happen again. His fix also cost much less than replacing the whole door which was what I thought was going to have to be done. Finally, when we noticed water pooling under the refrigerator a few days later, Eli came back and dug into the back of the unit to clear a clogged compressor drain. He cleaned everything out in the process and helped put everything back together perfectly. It's more than just his expertise that I appreciated. Eli is friendly, honest, easy to work with, and a just a nice guy. He also took the time to engage with our three-and-a-half-year-old son, who was glued to every step of the repairs at our house, and made him feel like part of the project. Ever since, our son has been busy "fixing" everything in the house with his own toy tools. I'm really happy to have found Eli and SmartFix. He's the first person I'll be calling for any future appliance work at our home. Thank you, Eli!

John and Jonathon or Jon squared as I like to call them, were super helpful in taking me out of a terrible situation. When I bought my used GE stove I was troubleshooting an issue with the igniter circuit which snowballed into a bigger problem when I bent the two front orifices. On eBay I was looking at paying over 70 dollars for the two and would have to wait over a week for the parts. I called them up and without hesitation they ordered the parts for me, no payment required over the phone. I ordered the parts on Tuesday. They received them on Thursday. 50 dollars for both orifices (cheaper than eBay). Had them installed within the hour and my wife couldn't have been happier. In person at the store both were very helpful and positive about any questions I asked, even when posed with unrelated questions such as "what's good to eat around here" lol. If you have appliance needs, parts, service, questions, a friendly person to cheer up your day with some quick banter, these are the guys to call. If I could rate higher than a 5 I would. They almost made me glad to have broken my stove, just because I was blessed with the opportunity of meeting such nice people, running an honest business and to get to experience such great customer service. Thank you Jon Squared!

After doing some research online and following some troubleshooting guides, determined that we needed a Water Pressure Sensor. It seems it was not uncommon for this part to fail and the replacement process was simple and straight foward. Called a few other appliance parts stores, no one had the part in stock. Appliance Parts Company had the part in stock at fair price and put the part on hold for me to pick up. Nothing fancy about the location, none needed for appliance parts store. Friendly staff. I have added them to my contact list for future reference if I ever need appliance parts again in the future. Got home popped the part in and was up and running in no time. Now just have to deal with cleaning up the water and drying the carpet in the family room, but at least I can wash and dry towels to soak up more water and repeat. ;)

Most think the homeowners are not knowledgeable and we aren't, otherwise we would fix it ourselves. However, we have everything else you need to be a judge of a clean, knowledgeable, honest, and efficient repair person. Marian's first visit was to vacuum out our Thermador refrigerator and garage fridge. I wasn't in the mood to meet him but my husband told me how he worked. I liked what I heard. About 2 weeks later the heavier door on the Thermador fridge slumped. To be honest, it wasn't to my satisfaction brand new, the door was sticking out a little but after a remodel of the entire home, one gets burnt out. Marian fixed the door better than the brand new one installed and showed us why and how the problem happened. The stove he changed the lights effectively and fast. Then the big question came from me, can you take the oven door off and take it apart to be cleaned? I've asked 2 other appliance companies if they could but they said it takes a long time and is not easy. Then I said, I can make a new appointment for this for you to come back. He said, he could fix it now. My oven door has 3 glasses. To watch him take off the door and apart was pretty amazing because of his calm, perfected work speed and stress-free demeanor. We all know talent when we see it. I think by now, I told him 3 times how happy I was, and thank you too. Lastly, if you are wise enough to call him for help then you must have done many great things in life to get him. Also, YES his prices are well thought out and fair and reasonable. If you are the kind of person who tries to get a lower price from businesses, don't call because you don't deserve him.
