Jongro is our favorite Korean bbq in New York so we were super excited to hear they were opening a location so close to home. However, in terms of both service and quality of the food, it was a bit disappointing in comparison . Some of the meat was frozen and didn't taste high quality. Banchan was hit or miss (the potato salad for example wasn't good). And the service was fairly slow even though the restaurant was not very busy when we sat down. We ordered a beer and a cocktail as soon as we sat down and they didn't arrive until after we were halfway through our meal. Overall it was good but not excellent. I would rate it as better than honey pig but not as good as kogiya or so bbq. read more

Sooooo! about last night I was asked to try Korean barbecue. So, okay but know I'm going to tell my Yelp family first and the truth . The atmosphere was great, no lines or waiting. We were seated with preexisting side dishes on the table. Pickled daikon radish,fish cakes, kimchi, a dollop of mashed potato and pickled cucumbers with jalapeño I had a problem with the preexisting sides on tables that weren't occupied. In terms of health we have ailments that are airborne. I stirred a sauce and found its original color underneath . Which lets you know how long it was sitting on the table. If you do go, then try the all you can eat which includes beef, chicken and seafood. I liked the way they grilled the food especially the shrimp with the heads on ( you know I love that Head butter don't judge me ) and the butter garlic calamari ( not fried)I Normally I'd order fried calamari and since this was not an option I decided to try different. However, here's the key for the calamari don't wait for the waiter to keep up with your calamari or other meats while waiting on other tables. My first calamari was rubbery so I ordered more and monitored my own. The calamari comes to you translucent but when they turn pink take the tongs and remove immediately. My calamari that I cooked, came out tender and tasty. The food was good and I recommend visiting if you want to try something different. I tried it but most likely I won't return. Not saying it was bad, the person that was with me, this was their fourth time. By the way, drink plain not flavored soju. Trust me it will make everything ok read more

Loved my experience eating here! I lived in NY for 5 years and had jongro a handful of times, I can definitely say it's pretty much the same (which is a good thing). The space is large, and well spaced out. The servers were pretty attentive, though I'm surprised I didn't see any of them help cook the meat, might not be great for kbbq newbies. My boyfriend and I ordered the combo for 2, the portion size was PERFECT and meat quality was good, we especially loved the seafood pancake. Servers actually grill your meat for you unlike other places where they do it for you one time and expect customers to do all the flipping. Interior of the restaurant was dope. I actually felt the vibe of 80s/90s street scenery. They were still missing some stuff because grand opening isn't until first Monday of April but overall I was satisfied with their food and service. Second for 34.99 per person for AYCE, it's a ridiculously high price to pay when the beef brisket and LA Galbi were crap quality and just chewy as hell. Today was my second time coming and this place is amazing! The decor is absolutely stunning. They really took the time and care to make it feel like you're in S. Korea. The food is also amazing. The mango bulgogi definitely hits and so does the Ddoengjjang Jjigae. So so good. There's a bar and the ambiance is just great! Shout out to our server Eric. He was phenomenal. My friends and I visited Jongro this past weekend with much excitement. I've been to the nyc location and was a bit weary of the pictures and menu items offered but still decided to go. Sadly, we were disappointed with our visit. The Pros: nice, big space. As they were in the stages of soft opening, they only utilized 1/3 of their space which I thought was a nice call. Friendly service (not a pro kbbq server but she remained friendly and attentive). The cons: we ordered the 4 ppl menu, and the portion was SO SMALL. We were group of 4 girls and as much as we like to eat, we don't eat THAT much lol. it was honestly really lacking in portion. We asked if we could order a la carte and was denied of that request as well. The price for the 4 ppl meal is definitely HIGH for the amount of food you get. No Korean beers on the menu...really bad cell service ( management should consider having wifi available for customers). Kimchi jjigae came out half boiled, still lukewarm and should have been heated all the way. Dwenjang jjigae was okay, I did like that they put squid in it. Overall, not a great experience especially when there are so many kbbq options around my area (NoVA) and this place definitely does not live up to the nyc location standards. I'm hoping that this is some things that they will work through as they've been opened 2 weeks. read more

5 stars is really for their great great service. This is the main reason I always go back there again and again but please keep the salad. Please don't take it out from the menu. Think about it if we enjoy your meat without salad it's not enjoyable at all. If you wanna lower the cost of foods you can up the price we understand, you don't need to serve free bottle of water, but cut the salad does not make any sense. I'm glad you have the salad back. Having been to the one in NYC i was pretty excited about one opening up near my house. I went during their soft open so the menu was limited. The staff was very friendly and everyone looked very happy. We had the special combo but i was a bit disappointed with the meat quality. The sirloin steak was very tough. Maybe it was the way it was cooked but it wasn't up to the nyc quality. The skirt steak was very good and i also liked the shrimp. The brisket was cooked while the grill was dirty from the other cooked meats. So while it tasted good it didn't look very appetizing with the black charred stuff on it. Pork shoulder was just ok. Pork jowl was a little weird. They were still training the servers and stuff so i will try them again. read more

My family and I showed up and we were blown away by the decor. It's very rare that I want to walk around and tour the restaurant before eating, but we all did a loop. They were in a soft opening, so they are slightly short staffed and only half the restaurant was open. But I left with a belly full of delicious food. I highly recommend the higher end meat selection when doing the all you can eat option. The marinated options are a little sweet if you like that kind of thing, but the salted and spiced options were unbelievable. Excellent service and knowledgeable staff. The food overall is fantastic! I would recommend cumin pork pork bulgogi, or any of the beef bulgogi. Sides are yummy, too! Don't sleep on the fish cakes. The one side I find "meh" is corn cheese, which isn't bad, it's just...cream corn with cheese. Better not to sit by one of the big screens but other than that, when the K-POP is background music, it's quite lovely, and also there's a bunch of cool kitschy (in a good way) retro memorabilia around the restaurant. The all-you can eat is worth it if you like to try different things and/or especially if you have a large party. If you're not a big eater, then consider a la carte, because you can't take All You Can Eat home. Also, you cannot make reservations for *fewer+ than seven people. Usually not bad but if it's a big holiday for going out (I.e. Valentine's Day) you may have a long wait. read more

I recommend mentally preparing yourself to wait for about 20 minutes or sending in a tribute before the rest of your party gets there so that they can get in the queue. With regards to the meat, everything tasted like a standard kbbq place -- nothing stood out (particularly good or bad) about the food. The weird thing was our server seemed really tense with us from the get go. After we ordered, he either consistently repeated the incorrect items back to us (and kept telling us we were incorrect??) or bringing out the incorrect meats if he did repeat the order back to us properly. Maybe it was this server's first day or he was having a bad day, but I wish he didn't sass us when we weren't doing anything to warrant it. First time trying this KBBQ place after hearing some good things about it. Went for a super early dinner and got the AYCE. Pretty much ordered all the beef and pork items and my favorites were the ribeye, thin sliced pork belly, and brisket. I preferred the un-marinated meats the best, as the flavor was too strong to actually taste the meat. The spicy brisket was interesting as it was just un-marinated regular beef brisket with sauce drizzled on top; tasted OK though. The banchan was decent (kimchi, macaroni salad, fishcakes, picked radish, cucumber, and soy beans; all pretty standard stuff. The sides were hit or miss; fried rice wasn't anything special, so ordered plain rice afterwards. The fried rice cakes were just OK, but the corn cheese was pretty good. However, I wish the corn cheese and steamed egg both were cooked in the kitchen, as they take up too much space on the grill. Corn cheese heated pretty fast, but the egg takes forever. The service was good, as they changed our grill frequently and kept drinks and meat coming. For AYCE, this is pretty good value at $31 and it included soft drinks. read more

Asked for lettuce wraps got 3 small pieces of lettuce. I'm sure all kbbq places are serving frozen food. This place brought a frozen steak. Which means not one piece of salt or pepper. I'm going to be honest with you. I've had some shitty kbbq. This one was the worst. They do have THE BEST kimchi. Won't be returning. For relatively the same price, go to IRON AGE, KPOT, HONEY PIG. Went here for a birthday, and we got the beef for 4 combo. Paying $175 and not even getting someone to cook the meat for you was disappointing. To start our server didn't even greet us, didn't even gave a proper farewell just took the cash and walked away. The Jumuluk's marinade tasted off and it was brought to the table already cut into small pieces which is odd. The bulgogi had a weird color, we thought it was chicken. The quality of the meat was not anywhere near worth the price we paid, we wanted to give this place a try but maybe will be coming back only for all you can eat. This is not my kind of Korean restaurant. The kimchi is not very good. There is no bibimbop or galbi. The only item on the menu is all you can eat Korean barbeque with various marinades. It doesn't taste bad, but you can only grill one item at a time at your table, which slows the meal to a crawl. My stomach did not appreciate the snail's pace at all. This is my go to Korean BBQ spot, I have been here a few times starting with in October 2022. NO MORE smoke filled hair or clothes anymore, the exhaust is captured underneath the pan. Have eaten here on the weekday and weekend. Heavily advertised inside the mall, the place is outside next to a UPS and Dick's Sporting Goods. First impression decor is very welcoming and nicely setup. Each table has bench seating which gives me more space to move around to eat LOL Each visit has had a few changes. The side dishes seemed to be tweaked each time as well as the ACYE items. First visit the waitstaff did the cooking and however the visits after that someone in my party was "designated cook" not sure if I was lucky in October that my server cooked. Lettuce is given now for those non carb patrons and they have added a soup of the day as well, which the mushroom soup is out of this world. MEATS,MEATS, which is the main star for Korean BBQ, each time has been good. I am not a heavy sauce eater so I mainly prefer the pork bellies, brisket, and blades (skirt steaks weekends only) The other patrons in my party have really enjoyed the sauced items, which are the chicken items and bulgogi. We also tend to order second round of the corn cheese and steamed egg. Wait staff is always fabulous with each visit. I tend to order the non sauce items as the first sets of meat with the corn cheese steamed egg. The server usually changes out the pan for the second items which are the bulgogi and chicken. I want to thank Iron Age for not letting us in when we went to eat at 10 pm because they wanted to close early for the new chinese year, so we had to search for another bbq and we found Jongro and we went there. And wow, from the first moment we went in. It was perfect. The only issue was to be seated on the benches we had to flip over other than that it was awesome, first started with our fabulous server and her name Alison, a tireless person who was serving us 3 food beasts in a fast paste. And she was nicest person ever. Meat quality perfect, suaces perfect, fire perfect condiments perfect every thing was so delicious and well cocked. No smoke in the restaurant we came out clean. Price was 31$ per person but we also nknew that they serve lunch at $21 until 3 pm. They have the spicy pork belly and all other types of meats. If I would ask for something to be modified it will be the pickles, they were too sugary for me I would rather less sweetness in pickled items. They serve delicious cream soup. And the most important is they serve water in bottles not a cup so you always receive clean water and plates. Whuch is not the case at Kpot and Iron age. This is going to be our new destination from now on and I hope they don't change their level of service. I did not mention that I noticed the do seat large families together and the do not separate them as they do in Iron age which was th most horrible thing they used to do with us every time we visit as large group, as the want to put 7 people on one grill and it takes forever to eat. When I told them the chicken was cold, my server responded "it's supposed to be hot or room temperature" , he didn't bother to replace it or offer to remedy it. Save your money. Go to Iron Age. It's hard as we compare this Maryland location to our favorite korean BBQ which is Jongro BBQ located in NYC.That place is amazing with service and food quality. These days it is challenging to find the same quality of food and service on was accustomed to experiencing. If you like the traditional BBQ and usual side dishes the New york location is really great in my opinion. Hopefully this one will catch up. If so will definitely leave a different review.
