My boyfriend and I had gone here on a whim as we were in the area and craving cookies, the service wasn't the best. As soon as we walked in we weren't greeted, just stared at which made me very uncomfortable which is why I only gave it 4 stars but the cookies were so good. We didn't get them with ice cream, just the cookies by themselves. I had the double chocolate mint and my boyfriend had a snickerdoodle as well as the peanut butter chip and they were all delectable but I will say the double chocolate mint is a must! read more

Food: 3/5 Service and Setting: 1.5/5 Value: 2.5/5 Insomnia Cookie was a shop that my friend hyped up as a store that sells the type of cookies that I enjoy. I personally am not too big a fan of the current trend of large, underbaked fudgy style cookies. Insomnia makes cookies that are "crispy" on the outside and gooey in the center. The overall store is pretty bare, but generally clean. The employee helping us was okay and was patient with us as we were picking which cookies we wanted. For a store that advertises in their name that they are open for late night business, a good quarter of their menu was not in stock at 11:00 pm. What flabbergasted me was that they tried to sell us their last oatmeal cookie, which was broken, for full price. At that point, I did not even want to be offered it. With their premium pricing and their specialization in one type of food, I was almost offended that they would offer a subpar damaged product for me to purchase, as if it was an amazing opportunity for me to get this item. This ain't no Daytona or Birkin and the fact they had the gall to do that almost made me want to leave. With that said, this review is still much more focused on the food, but expect subpar service here. Sugar Cookie: 3/5 When I inquired what cookie I should get, the two employees behind the register quickly answered Sugar. The sugar cookie was very basic and didn't taste special in any way. With that said, there is a pronounced lack of artificial flavor that you might find in store-bought cookies or pre-made cookie doughs. The edges were ever so slightly crisp and the center moist. You can't expect too much from a sugar cookie, but being priced the way they were, I was expecting something with a bit more finesse. Overall, more wholesome than most, but falls flat. Salted Caramel Deluxe Cookie: 3/5 This cookie was being cooked when we purchased it and we waited around 7 minutes for it to cool. The cookie served to us was still very warm and could not hold its shape (this is not a bad thing, just wanted to note this if you did buy a cookie that was freshly baked). The cookie had slightly crispy edges as well and a molten center. There was a good amount of salt in the cookie but the caramel was quite mild. Again, if I am paying almost $5 for a cookie that is not substantial in its size, I really expect something special in terms of flavor or preparation. It tasted like a standard chocolate chip cookie with caramel instead, very underwhelming. I'm not sure what is deluxe about this cookie besides its price tag, but it's definitely not its flavor. read more

Summary: Fresh and soft The moment you step into this store you are greeted with the smell of baked cookies. Nothing better than a chocolate cookie that is soft to bite into and that gooeyness of melted chocolate. Even better on a summer day is an ice cream cookie sandwich ;-) The only flavor I am not a fan so much of is the macadamia white chocolate that to me doesn't have enough nuts. Other than that, they have a wide selection of cookies to fit everyone's tastes. I never got to figure how long they last since within a day it was always gone. read more

I feel like it's hard to give a fair review considering the circumstances, but I really like the cookies from this place. My friends and I came by because it was National Ice Cream Day and we saw that they were doing a deal for BOGO ice cream sandwiches. My friend was also raving about their cookies. We came by and waited in a line outside. It was taking quite a while, so one of my friends decided to order online to see if she could just get her order by the time we got inside. That's when she saw they were also doing a BOGO deal for a pack of 12 cookies. So we got 24 cookies for the price of 12. We did ended up getting inside by the time order was supposed to be completed, but we waited until we got inside to order our ice cream sandwiches. You can pick two different cookies and an ice cream for them. Overall, I would say the cookies are great! My favorite is probably the fluffernutter because I'm a huge fan of peanut butter. The ice cream is okay so the ice cream sandwich is alright, there are cheaper ice cream sandwich places and I'd say you're better off just getting the cookies. The service was really slow (our trip there took us an hour), though I suppose it's understandable in the current circumstances; they seemed pretty short staffed. read more

Insomnia Cookies opened up in the University Town Center, across the street from UCI. They are open till 3 am to satisfy one's cookie cravings and they offer delivery options. I ordered a regular chocolate chip cookie and a double chocolate chunk cookie. Regular cookie (chocolate chip/double chocolate chunk cookie) $1.75 - The cookies are reheated slightly and served warm. They are the standard size that one typically sees in grocery stores. Texture wise they are soft and taste ok. There is a decent amount of chocolate chips/chunks in the cookies. Service was friendly, but at $1.75 the cookie is way overpriced! Kirkland chocolate chip cookies (Costco brand) are much bigger, taste better, and are only $.35 each (1/5th the cost). I honestly don't know how this place can justify the pricing of their cookies. And taste wise the cookies are just average. read more

Hmmm. Got the ice cream sandwich. Not sure if possible but I wish the cookies were warm and soft? Placed on top of the ice cream it becomes cold and hard. My guess is it's because the cookies have been sitting for a while and are at room temperature by the time it's served. If they're able to keep them warm before serving, it'd be perfect paired with the ice cream. It's not really anything special otherwise, sad to say :( I was really excited to try this spot because we walk by it all the time! read more

Was meeting up with a friend and she wanted to get Yogurtland and they don't have a great vegan options so I was happy to find insomnia cookies nearby. They have a few vegan cookies and I decided to get the birthday cake one. It was very delicious. I would definitely come back to try another one. The person who helped me was kind of rude when I asked which cookies were vegan. But I had never been there before so I didn't know there was a vegan symbol on the sign up above. I appreciate the vegan options and will keep this in mind as a possible option for the future if I'm in the area. read more

You can never have too many of these addicting cookies. Being a popular late-night snack for UCI students, they do offer many rewards for being a member of their rewards program. I utilized some of their deals over thanksgiving and was able to try pretty much all of their flavors except for the premium ones that are priced at $3.75 a piece. I did reluctantly grab one of their deluxe cookies, the Oatmeal Walnut Chocolate cookie, and OML IT WAS SOO GOOD. I have been seeking oatmeal cookies that aren't oatmeal raisins and they delivered!! It was definitely my favorite one here. Unfortunately they don't have the vegan birthday cake flavor like other locations but they do offer nationwide shipping. Most flavors are just okay such as the Red Velvet, M&Ms, Snickerdoodle, etc. I'll probably just stick to the basic Chocolate Chunk. The cookies are great, not the best I've had, but the price does make these slightly less tempting. It is a must to heat these babies up before eating because they are quite stale when they're cold, not very appetizing at all. Overall, a decent place to visit if you are hit with that late night cravings. read more

Perfect place if you want something sweet late at night! There are a ton of different cookie flavors to choose from and multiple vegan (and gluten free) ones as well. My favorite is the chocolate chunk, but they all taste great in my opinion. The best part is that the cookies are always served warm and this place is open pretty late at night as the name suggests. You can mix and match the cookies to your liking if you order a box which is great so you can try a bunch of different flavors! read more

This review is specifically for the Halloween Special: Insomnia Cookies had a Halloween event where you can receive a free cookie if you come dressed up in a costume. Imagine my surprise when I show up in costume and the cashier lets me know that it is a 2 1/2 hour wait for a free cookie due to low staffing. In my opinion, if you are going to hold, and mind you advertise, an event on a seemingly busy day, you would expect the staff to be more prepared. It's a little humorous to also know they had enough cookies for those who were purchasing, but not for those in attendance for the event; which was also everyone in line. Please be aware I am not blaming the staff, I am blaming management. I have heard some awful things about how Insomnia management treats their employees and can only imagine how Ill prepared they were due to management irresponsibility. read more

There's nothing quite like the smell of a warm cookie. After I learned that Cookie Connection closed mysteriously, I went on a hunt to fill that void. When I stumbled upon Insomnia Cookies, I had to check it out. It's a little shop in UTC that sells cookies, cakes, and ice cream, I came in to get a six pack, and decided on the double chocolate chunk, double mint chocolate, peanut butter chip, oatmeal raisin, red velvet, and white chocolate macadamia. They store their cookies in an incubator, I think, which helps keep them nice and warm when they put it in the box. All of the flavors tasted great! Especially after 15sec in the microwave - yum! It's a little pricey, and service wasn't the best, but until another cookie shop opens up, I'll be coming here! read more

Honestly, the cookie is not bad here, I did not expect it to be as good as I thought it would be. I ordered the peanut butter cookie. The peanut butter tasted nice, and the texture of the cookie is gooey enough to my liking. On top of that, it opens till late or should I say early ;) Would get it late at night when bored and strolling around the UTC/campus area, but would not be the type of place where you would be "hey let's get insomnia" out of the blue. It is more like a "hey, there is insomnia, wanna get cookies tonight?" More of an impromptu buy when seeing the place around the corner. read more

I will say there are better cookies out there for the price. The only reason why I am giving it 3 stars is because these cookies are honestly expensive for basic cookies. They did taste good but not WOW factor. I also got the wrong cookie than I asked for but that may because the Mint Chocolate and the Triple Chocolate look so similar. read more

Good cookie, but I highly recommend against delivery unless you have 3 hours to wait. I had a cookie craving at 8pm on a sunday. I was SO excited to see a place that delivered cookies. We ordered a box of 6 cookies and a scoop of ice cream. I checked their app every 20 minutes for an update. After an hour there was no update - so I called. The guy on the phone was very nice, said they did get our order but they were very short staffed. I'm guessing they couldn't find a delivery driver because after 2 hours and 40 minutes, the order got kicked to postmates, and at 11PM on a sunday, I got my delivery. I did enjoy the cookies themselves. I think they were supposed to be warm but after 3 hours I had very low expectations. Even though they were cold/room temperature I still enjoyed them. They weren't overly sweet which is rare for cookie boutiques. They stayed soft for the next few days after. read more

Went during a weekday and there was no wait at all! Worker knew it was our first time and was extremely helpful in helping me figure out what cookies I should try. I ended up getting a sugar rush box which included 12 traditional cookies! I chose 6 chocolate chunks, 2 confetti, 2 white chocolate macadamia, 1 snickerdoodle, and 1 peanut butter chip. My favorite would probably be the confetti or the chocolate chunk the most but everything else was very flavorful still! Tastes good when it comes warm so try to eat it as soon as you get it! The parking is decent or almost always available after 8PM at this Irvine location, but I've also been to their other locations (in Brentwood near UCLA and in University Village across from USC) where there are even longer lines and little to no parking available nearby! Found out about this place on my recent trip to Las Vegas and I was beyond stoked when I found out they had a location in Irvine. We drove from corona to Irvine just for some cookies. Upon walking in - there was no one in sight. We even said hello a few times and nothing. I almost jumped the counter to serve myself and leave the money on the counter lol. I love that the cookies are always warm when you get them. They're all pretty tasty but the macadamia one is probably one of my favorites! read more

The cookies are okay. I used to work for this company and it is horrible. Do not ever work here unless you want to be the only one working. Everyone always calls off on their shift and the General Manager is always on her phone never working. It tskes her always 1-2 hours making a delivery which is less then a 5 mile radiusz If you reaxh out to corporate they never respond and help with the problems everyone is facing at the store. The cookies are sometimes sitting in the cookie warmer longer then they should be and are serve if they are burnt. read more

Have you ever tried eating ice cream with a noodle (aka the flimsiest spoon in the world) on a paper plate??? That's what you get at the new insomnia cookie. Also not sure how the guy got my order right as he had both of his AirPods in. 10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. read more

My friend and I were craving something sweet and found this place on yelp. I love that they are open late to satisfy your sweet tooth craving. Originally I wanted ice cream but they were out of cookies n cream and vanilla :(. The employee was nice and double checked for us. The cookies were pretty good but a little over priced. I got the delux salted caramel and the sugar cookie. Both were pretty sweet. I'll come back if I'm in the area but I probably wouldn't drive specially for this place. read more

Solid cookies that are kept and served warm. Overall very enjoyable, not overly sweet. What kept these from being great cookies, and just good cookies, is that they were a bit dry. My guess is that they keep these In a "warmer drawer" for a warm cookie experience, but unfortunately if they sit for too long then the cookies dry out. Personally, I'd be ok if they chose to toast or microwave the cookie after ordering rather than keep them heated all day. I came toward the end of the day, so maybe this is part of the issue. Covid times: the workers here did a great job greeting folks and making sure not too many people were in the shop at once (there was a small line outside), there is plexiglass that divides the customers from cashiers read more

Cookie and ice cream was a 10/10 but customer service definitely needs work 3/10 on the service. It was my first time there and from the looks of it they don't take first time customers very well as they expect u to know wat u want within 2 seconds. I tried asking few questions because I have never been there and the responses were very short and kinda rude . Would I go back ??? Probably since I now know how to order maybe they will b nicer . I went at like midnight but guess what they were still open. I would have given you guys your last star but I am sorry to say that it was way to sweet for me. But that is only my opinion. Although let me just say it was delicious and very flavorsome. Don't worry it was not your guys fault I ordered a ice cream sandwich so probably you guys meant for it to be sweet! But I am a sweet lover so I love sweets but if this was to sweet for a sweet lover I wouldn't like that so much so that is why I gave you guys a 4 out of 5 instead of a 5 on 5 you guys totally deserve that other star but sorry it was to sweet so I didn't give you the other star. But let me just give you an extra credit that I love the box. But I couldn't close the box even though it was to go. Driver never showed up and labeled the delivery as delivered. Ordered from here on postmates and the delivery driver never arrived. I called the store multiple times and although the person working was nice enough to try and get me help, the driver never arrived nor picked up the phone. Their model of delivering cookies with their own drivers is an awful idea especially if you live in a complex since only they can reach out to you. The number I received from the store was support and the message just said to contact the store again lol. I waited downstairs for over 20 minutes and nothing. Waste of money and time. read more

I finally tried Insomnia Cookies and while the experience was okay, I don't really get the hype. The workers were friendly, and the cookies were served warm which was nice. However, they were pretty small and tasted very basic. They do offer plenty of options, and you can add ice cream which is a plus. I tried the limited edition Red Velvet cookie, and while it was good, it wasn't anything to rave about. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're craving a late night treat but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. read more

Insomnia Cookies is a very popular cookie shop that is known for being open very late. However, they also make some delicious cookies. I got their new special Peanut Butter cookie with Reese's, and boy was it delicious with the gooey, melty marshmallows! This spot sits inside UTC (University Town Center) right next to UCI. The service is always really nice, and I love the vibes. Overall, I highly recommend Insomnia Cookies for a great late night snack! read more

Horrible customer service. Their bunk, third-party delivery driver from Uber eats refused to deliver my order and then asked me for money on top of the delivery fee and tip. And he didn't speak English, so it was impossible to understand what you were saying for the first hour. The moment they saw us, their expression turned cold and unwelcoming yet they were warm and friendly to white customers. The cookies were underwhelming and unremarkable on top of everything else. I would not recommend this racist business to anyone.
