Uber driver left the cookies at some random address after texting and calling my daughter multiple times. I called Insomnia cookies and explained what I may have done and gave them the correct address. Again, they sent cookies to the incorrect address. Again, my daughter got multiple nasty texts/calls from the UBER driver. When I called Insomnia again, I was told that once the order is placed, the address cannot be changed. I am out the $50 for the cookies, that's on me. Why Insomnia cookies would give the UBER driver the recipients number instead of the person sending is ridiculous. I was very disappointed with my visit. The service was bad. The cookies were not prepared which made a quick visit become over extend. I have never had a hard cookie and for them to be fresh they were hard! They really need to improve this location. I have never willingly left a review for any business in the area but I had to with this one. This is by far the worst cookie spot in the city. Cookie are almost always cold and stale, employees are terrible. Very very rude and half the time they're not even there to take your order, and God forbids you speak up after they mess up your order, you get the dirtiest looks back. I ordered a simple salted caramel cookie with a scoop of cookie dough and a scoop of dreamweaver ice cream. I was VERY clear placing the order because they have messed my orders up numerous times before. Very disappointed in the service here. I came in to get cookies at 6 and left at 6:45 because they made me wait so long... First they tell me they have everything i want in stock and after i pay they tell me its going to take 15 minutes because they are in the oven. So i said ok and waited. I go back in and now they say another 15 minutes for them to cool... What on earth?! Why not just tell me they were going to be 30-40 minutes to begin with- i wouldve just left at that point! On top of that they didn't know how to scan my rewards code- what good is having an app with rewards if i cant even use it?! Such a waste of time and money. I guess they realized i was upset and did end up leaving an extra cookie inside the box. For the actual cookies: we got the vegan cookies and non vegan. Wish there were more options for vegans... The vegan cookies tasted good but look how thin and mushy they are... insomnia is known for thick chocolatey cookie. I just feel they are inconsistent every time honestly. It is a big insomnia space. Walked in on a Saturday evening, and when we first walked it we were the only ones in there. By the time we left there was a big crowd that popped in. Very clean and the staff was friendly. Insomnia really needs to get on there game though with having the technology in their stores to be able to accommodate their app. I had rewards I could have used, and they don't have the scanners (this is what every store tells me, not just this location) to scan the app to either redeem rewards or get points from your order. The only way to circumvent this is to order directly from the app and then pick it up. Which I do sometimes, but sometimes it is very spur of the moment and we just pop in. Ordered two cookies. When we left and had them when we got home the one cookie, the Triple Chocolate Deluxe cookie was super stale. It was so hard, even heating it up briefly didn't help. The Confetti Deluxe cookie was good. read more

Having been to a different cookie shop, Crumbl Cookies in Clark NJ, I figured I would give Insomnia Cookies a spin since they are close to home and not a 45 minute drive away. The menu online and the app looked really good so I placed an order for 6 regular and 6 deluxe cookies for me and the family. I get to the store and that's when I noticed a few things. There were only two other people there some RU students and no one behind the counter. I could hear two employees having a conversation towards the back and it took several minutes for them to make their way to the front. Not because they knew they had customers, but because they finished their chat. Well in those roughly 5 minutes I noticed they were not doing any walk in orders at all (a few hand written signs on the storefront door and register plexi-shield) The drink refrigerator was empty and looked turned off, they had no ice cream ( well they had a little bit but not enough to fill an order). To be honest it looked like the place was about to be shut down. Now for the cookies, the young man explained to me that they did not have one of the cookies I had ordered, we worked out a swap no sweat. But when I got home found that they had swapped out 4 cookies in total but made no mention of it at all. I suspect they get their cookies from a central location and they bake them on site. Crumbl Cookies makes their cookies from scratch and you can watch them do it when you enter the store. I know that's a novelty kind of thing but you know they are FRESH. You get better cookies from a school cookie dough sale than you do from Insomnia Cookies to be honest and you will get what you ordered not what they had left in the store. Insomnia Cookies got $39 from me and I will take this experience to ensure I never buy from them again. read more

I ordered this online as a gift for someone 5 days ago. they provided me with tracking information in an email that did not work- brought me to a blank white page. the store phone number provided in the email also did not work. I found the store phone number through google search and called the number- they told me it "looks like it was scanned in (the town I am having it delivered to) last night". I used to love insomnia cookies--the restaurant is cute, it's a convenient location, they're open late, and the cookies are delicious. However, lately they've been having to close the inside of the store and only accept online orders--totally understandable, as I know most places are understaffed right now. So recently I came to the store to order some cookies, saw they were only accepting online orders, and placed an online order with a pickup time of 45 minutes later. I sat in a nearby restaurant with my friends to wait, as it was below freezing temperatures outside and dark. Around 30 minutes later, one of my friends goes to stand outside Insomnia, since in the past our online orders are normally ready before the pickup time. Our pickup time comes and goes, and several other people are gathered outside Insomnia, all who have placed online orders with pickup times that have come and gone. There are no employees in sight. People are calling the store, and no one is picking up, so people try to call corporate--corporate says this location is open and that our orders should be out at any moment. A few employees can be seen walking around inside, but not making or delivering orders. Eventually, after an hour and thirty minutes, one of the other customers waiting bangs on the glass window until an employee comes to the door and asks what's going on. The other customer says he's been waiting on his order. The employee says the store is closed but she'll make his order, and then leaves before anyone else can ask about their order. My friend who is waiting outside calls corporate again--they say they've been trying to get in contact with this location, and they don't know what's going on. The employee comes back with the other customer's order, and my friend is able to ask for our order. Initially, the employee tells him no, but once he tells her he's been waiting for an hour and forty five minutes, she says okay and goes back inside. After thirty more minutes, she comes back out with our order and then locks the door and disappears in the back. Our order is missing an ice cream sandwich, and one of the cookies we ordered is cold and almost raw. At this point, we've been waiting for almost two hours in below freezing temperatures after dark in Downton New Brunswick (not the safest location), so we accept defeat and head home. I call corporate on the way back, and they refund us for the sandwich we're missing, but refuse to compensate us for the underbaked cookie or the rest of our order that we had to wait two hours for. I used to rave about insomnia cookies to my friends, and we'd always go after big tests or assignments as celebration, but we haven't been back since that incident and I don't plan on it. read more

There always tends to be a little of a line at this place, even though it's much further down Easton Ave from downtown NB. Order ahead if possible so you don't have to wait in line. However, there was one instance where we ordered online but when we got to Insomnia, it was closed with no sign on the door as to why it was closed. This was during the height of one of the COVID variant surges so it may have just been lack of staff. My 4-star rating is more for their cookies. We've ordered from this location a few times as well as other locations in NJ and NY. Insomnia cookies are always pretty consistent and if you're looking for a good regular cookie, this is one of my go-tos. read more

My friends and I visited Insomnia on Halloween night in costume for their FREE classic cookie promotion! The interior is very open with no seating area (presumably because of COVID) and you are not allowed to eat inside. We got the birthday cake cookies, double chocolate, white chocolate macadamia nut and peanut butter. After ordering, our cookies were quickly toasted for us so they were delicious and warm! Definitely would not recommend. Waited over 1 hour (in the cold) to be given the incorrect amount of cookies, then another 30 minutes for them to fix their mistake. Multiple employees were seen dancing in the heated store while customers had to watch them in the freezing cold. To make matters worse, my sister took a big bite of her cookie and to her surprise had a big piece of parchment paper along with the cookie. Will not return. Would not recommend to a friend. Not worth the wait. The ONLY reason why I'm giving two stars is because one of the employees was very nice in correcting the order, and gave us 1 extra cookie for the wait.
