So I'd been hearing about this place for a coupe of years and after loading up on carbs at Handsome Biscuit, I made a stop for dessert. I should have known where this was headed as soon as I heard the words from the one person on staff, "The oven is broken." They were down to only 5 or 6 flavors of cookies and almost all of the 8 ice cream flavors were history, including the vanilla. So much for a cookie ice cream sandwich. Now I'm not a chocolate eater, so I was down to about three flavors to begin with, and they were out of oatmeal raisin. Their combo is 2 cookies and a pint or so of milk for about $6 and change. Let me let you in on something. If you were to purchase the two cookies and the milk separately instead of getting the combo, you'd only spend 5 cents more. This combo is basically useless. It costs $3.30 for a pint of milk, which is absolutely insane. I can get a gallon of milk in the grocery store for less than that! I tried one snickerdoodle cookie, and it was just meh. Not too big, it had a decent cinnamon flavor and a good amount of sugar on top, but I've certainly had better. It reminded me of a snickerdoodle I'd find on a sweets table at church before service. Yesss to Cookies! My weakness is my sweet tooth. I heard about this place from coworkers and added them to my bucket list. One day one of my coworkers had them delivered to our office and sat them out for everyone and it was over from that day forward. Lol So I mentioned..well slightly bragged about how good these cookies were to my man so he decided to order some for me one day. They come delivered smoking hot & delicious & nothing short of amazing. Straight fresh out the oven good. Weeks later still fantasizing about this place and decided why not order one for Valentines Day as well. They do this special edition of red velvet cookies that they only sell for Valentines Day but I do believe they should add this as a regular menu item as it's a big hit. My family loves them! This was once my favorite place to get cookies. I absolutely adored the fact that I could get warm fresh cookies late at night cuz I am a night owl. However I have visited insomnia cookies twice now this month last weekend and now this week and discovered that their system has been down for accepting orders in the store. I have worked in tech support so I understand that systems go down and sometimes you're not able to take orders in store. However because I have worked tech support I also know that systems are generally brought back up within 24 hours so the fact that I visited twice within about a week of each other and their systems were down both times and they could only accept "online orders". As in having to go on their website to place an order with their store which is both tedious and rather obnoxious when you are standing in their store. I will not be returning as this development feels like something they are doing on purpose. I was met with indifference both times by the staff and that furthers my stance on not returning. Good! I mean really good. You like cookies, they're good. They'd better be, at about $1 a pop. I bought 48 cookies at it cost over $80. The thing is, the employee was super unfriendly. I asked for 2 orders of 24 cookies (giving one to a friend). The employee said "Okay, if you're okay with a wait.... Wait I can do it" She then put together two boxes of assorted flavors with 18 cookies each, and then one box of 12 of the same kind. Well that's not that helpful. Ignored my questions. I was feeling down late at night, and had mentioned seeing this place before to my boyfriend. He surprised me with swinging by for a late night pick-me-up. I was not disappointed. The cookies are warm, soft, and fresh. The ice cream is very flavorful and creamy. While I wish the selection was a bit larger, what they had was very good. The prices aren't bad either. I wish they gave you slightly bigger plates. My ice cream was melting on to the table from the warmth of my cookies! Make sure you have room for that deluxe cookie sandwich. They are very generous. Finally had a chance to see what the excitement is over these cookies. I made it here right before it opened up so, I knew the cookies was going to be fresh and hot. Entering in you can smell the fresh baked cookies inviting you to take one of each. To the right of the store is where the menu board is so, I proceeded over to snapped a picture for you guys and went With the 6 cookies for $8. Which is about one of each traditional cookies, Go figure... The cookies were soft and hot as she packed them in bags. I got in the car and could not wait to try one! Hold up... did she just put 3 soft hot cookies in 1 bag and the other 3 in the other? Yep she did! Sooo....my cookies were stucked together making it break when you try to tear them apart. I guess you have to ask for it to go in a box. Cookies itself were good, hubby feels it's too soft tho but I guess it's based on preference here. OMG! More people need to know about the deliciousness that is Insomnia Cookies. Why was this place not at ODU when I was a student here? I would've gotten treats from here daily. This place sells a delicious assortment of cookies, milk, and ice cream, and get this ... They deliver until 3AM. Such a sinfully delicious concept had to be thought up by the devil himself. I suggest getting a "cookiewhich", which is an ice cream sandwhich made with a few scoops of ice cream sandwhich between two of their warm cookie. I've had their salted caramel pretzel between two peanut butter cookies as well as their mint chocolate chip ice cream between their mint chocolate chip cookies, both of which were the bomb. Since my initial visit here, I've been telling all my friends that they've got to come check this place out. Was my first time having insomnia cookies and what better day than international ice cream day. I had a cookiewich with the hot chocolate ice cream between snickerdoodle cookies. The ice cream was delicious and the cookies were so soft. I also had an additional white chocolate macadamia nut cookie which was good. The only reason I wouldn't get that flavor again is because I don't like coconut. The store smelled of freshly baked cookies upon entering. When you walk into Insomnia Cookies, all you'll find is a small counter in front of you with a display of cookies, a register, an ice cream display freezer (contains 8 different flavors of ice cream), a refrigerator in the corner with a few beverages (milk, water, etc.), and a small menu on the wall. Service was friendly and she patiently waited for me to order. I decided on a cookiewich wtih sweet and salty pretzel ice cream sandwiched between double chocolate chunk and chocolate chunk cookies. The cookies were warm so the ice cream was melting somewhat quickly. Although both cookies were good, I preferred the double chocolate chunk just a little bit more. They were soft, not too chewy, and had a little crispness to them. They were also not too sweet. The pretzels in the ice cream added a little bit of saltiness to the cookiewich, which I enjoyed. The ice cream was creamy, and again, not too sweet. This definitely made for a good afternoon snack! I also got several cookies to bring back with me. I wanted to mix and match the regular size and larger cookies so didn't take advantage of their cookie deals. Hopefully they survive the ride home. Came to check out Insomnia Cookies Saturday evening. Teachers & Graduates received a free 6 pack of cookies with a purchase. First time here and they were pretty good! I really loved the salted caramel and it reheats well! I love chocolate chip but these were just okay to me. The box with the salted Carmel are deluxe cookies so it was $18 for a box of 6. Hubby had the confetti and loved them as well as the white chocolate macadamia. Overall not bad and will try them again. read more

Y'all have no idea how long I've wanted to try this cookie spot. And what better way to try it then purchasing a huge cookie for Father's Day for the Cookie Monster himself ( my dad) . His favorite snack is cookies since his childhood so my mom and I figured it would be a good idea to order a huge version of his fav flavor and get a cute message on it since they didn't have a Father's Day option. We accidents pit the time in for 12 am the night before and not 12 ok Sunday because we'd didn't know they were OPEN TILL 3 AM and they kindly moved it to the next day when they open around 2 . Walked in to grab my pickup order. The chick on the phone talking to what appears to be her boyfriend and instead of getting my order. She then proceeded to try and get the cookie cake out the pan with one hand because she was on the phone. Realized she couldn't and so only then did she put the phone down and still proceeded to talk. She then proceeds to tell me there are no snickers and I asked for a refund...she looks at me crazy as if I didn't pay extra for the candy pieces. Not to mention to they have ice cream and a cooler of milk to choose from as well! This place really is brilliant, I hope business is going well for them, because they've hit the nail on the head when it comes to the perfect college town shop. Very hit or miss. I've decided not to order from here anymore. As others have stated, the customer service is seriously lacking most of the time. I usually get ignored or a standoffish attitude. The majority of the times that I ordered cookies for delivery, they seemed to be stale or just overdone. Sometimes I would get perfect, tasty cookies (slightly crunchy around the edges but mostly soft), but most of the time they were too overdone for my liking. I had better luck when I purchased them at the counter. I agree that there are too many chocolate flavors if you're like me and aren't a big fan of chocolate. The milk is overpriced too (if they even have it available) so if you want to wash it down you're going to pay for more than a gallon at the grocery store. The last straw for me was when I had it delivered last, the girl refused to take my cookies to my apartment because "due to COVID we're not allowed in buildings." Could be true, but I kind of thought it was b.s. Therefore my lazy self had to put on some human clothes and go downstairs to the street, something I tried to avoid with, you know...delivery. She wasn't wearing a mask, either, and just kind of rushed up to me, handed me the cookies without saying anything, and hurried away. When I arrived there was a printed sign saying they were not taking orders for the next 30 minutes. I walked in and spoke with the young lady to clarify. She didn't want to talk to us. She kept one wording us and being vague but we learned that they were baking cookies right then. We placed our order online so that we would be good once the store orders were back up and sat in the car. 30 min later she took the sign down and a wave of people rushed inside, which it appears were served first. We later got a text saying our order was ready. When I walked inside they had cleared the entire store. I was told my order was not ready and to come back in 30 min. In total I waited 30 min for them to be ready, 30 min for my "order", and then 30 more min since it really wasn't done. 90 min total--only to walk in and be told they were out of 2 out of 3 of my cookies and the ice cream.
