I never noticed the small front until today and decided to go for a ramen noodle. However, the "Sushi Burrito" menu in the wall caught my eye. What on earth is that? So I ordered it right away. You need to answer six questions to finish your order: choosing rice, meat, topping, side, etc. the lady was friendly. Shen then moved over to the work station and started to prepare this myth. A full scope of multigrain rice was dumped on a huge piece of seaweed. Then the sliced salmon, guacamole, kimchi ( do not ask why I choose kimchi on salmon) spicy mayo, tempura. Wrapped !! Oh, I see. I came in here a few weeks ago for a late dinner because it is new in town, we brought a couple of bottles of beer and ordered a couple of bowls of ramen. My ramen was so good that I have been thinking about it ever since. It's a fun place to hang out and the food was quick to come out. I'm a huge sushi lover. So when I heard of the "sushiritto" concept, I was super excited to try it. The inside decor is full of inspirational quotes, hence the name of the restaurant. Each burrito is made-to-order. I ordered the American Dream burrito which has spicy tuna, cucumber, guac, mango, lettuce, tempura flakes, and spicy mayo. I was pleasantly satisfied. It was tasty and filling. I also got a side of the popcorn chicken, which comes with a slightly, spicy dipping sauce. The only thing that was kind of annoying was as I was eating, a lot of the inside of the burrito started to fall out since it wasn't wrapped at the end. I don't think the seaweed was long enough to cover either end. Overall, I was very happy with the food and will probably be returning for more. read more

The fresh salmon is pretty good although there's better salmon sushi in Morristown. The cooked salmon tastes a little fishy. The tamago egg is really tasty as well. The ramen isn't bad but lacks the umami-packed richness that a good ramen broth should have. That's really the main deficiency but it's a central part of ramen. read more

My first visit to Inspiration Roll was to this location in Morristown a few weeks ago and it nearly turned me off from Inspiration Roll altogether. I ordered an American Dream sushi burrito and while the flavor was good, there was next to no tuna in it - there was a blob at the end of my burrito, but that was about it. I sampled the pork buns and ramen too - not terrible, but nothing to write home about. I tried it again recently thinking maybe it was just an off night, but I got the same horribly stingy portions (I paid $2 extra for more spicy tuna, and received MAYBE enough for a regular portion), and when I received my order of Confucius nachos, there was nothing but cheese and chips inside. Not amazing. I went to the counter to get my order fixed and got a tiny portion of tuna and runny, weirdly shiny looking guac plopped on. It looked like it was squeezed out from a tube. Service wasn't amazing, but it was a very crowded and busy night. Side note, the interior is decorated like a pinterest inspirational quote board threw up all over some red paint, which could be easily over if the food were better. I guess it could be justified by being right on the green, but they don't even walk your tray out to you (I don't mind picking it up myself, but when I ordered it was clear that "we'll bring it out to you"). -2 star for the ridiculously small and utterly inadequate plastic spoons and the bowl with a lip that you cannot safely drink the broth from. First time here. I've had sushi burritos before and knew what I was expecting. This was the first time I had one that was literally just one long till open on both ends. That was a downfall because when you began eating the inside would slide out and became fairly messy. The seaweed also ripped open on the sides. I got the American Dream and it tasted greater. A nice attempt at nouveau Japanese food, fast casual style. I only ordered the ramen, so perhaps the sushi burritos (sushi rolls) are better, but the ramen is middling. I tend to base first impressions on "spicy ramen," so I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. It...is...okay. The meat was mainly fat with very little else on it - basically ended up taking it all out of the bowl. Noodles were not egg based (or at least the staff said they weren't). The egg in the broth was good, however, and the noodles were cooked properly. Precious little else in the bowl except for scallions as far as I could tell. The broth itself was not very spicy, although it was reddish. I may be more attuned to spicy food now, but it definitely needed a lot more togarashi to have taste. Green tea was good, and especially with lychee. I wouldn't come here for the ramen again, but I will have to update this review if and when I try the "sushi burrito." read more

My kids get this all the time and I was mad they would charge $12 for ramen or a bowl on my card for lunch until they finally convinced me to try a poke bowl. Impressions: * This is definitely the place to go if you want sushi, but you're really hungry. It's not anything near traditional sushi, but it has elements of it. Honestly I like the rolls as stand alone. * Ramen - this is less than ani ramen in Montclair, but not as good imo. It's good if you're craving it in Morristown. I hate that they serve it in flimsy take out bowls, but it's nice if you want to take it home. * Bao - they're tasty! Not as good as ones from momofuku or ani, but still really tasty. I had the pork and other people I came with got the shrimp bao. I've had both the American Dream roll and the Einstein roll and I really liked both of them. This delicacy was a little out if my norm but I love to try new things. The pictures of the food looked so delicious. In the center of Morristown, there is a nice take out place called the Inspiration Roll. I was searching for Poke areas to go to for lunch and I ended up at this neat little restaurant. I got a sushi burrito from them and it was unbelievably amazing. They have multigrain rice, which makes it healthy and also delicious. I got the braised pork with mango, seaweed, and fish eggs. There is a variety of different flavor drinks that you can combine it together green tea or lemonade. Parking was street parking, which wasn't bad down the street. This is my first time reviewing on Yelp, and to be honest, I created this account specifically for Inspiration Roll. Overall, the food in my opinion is great. I can't say enough about it, and I encourage anyone who likes sushi, ramen, or poke to try it. Having said that, you may notice I only gave 3 stars. The one and only reason this place is oftentimes more trouble than it's worth is because the staff seemingly never, EVER, get my order right. There is always, without fail, something wrong with my order. Some of this is perhaps unavoidable; for example, lots of restaurants and eateries run out of ingredients. It happens, I get it. However, this is not the case here. And to be clear, my orders are not by any means custom or overly complex. It's normally something straight from the menu like a Signature Roll or a ramen bowl, although I do enjoy the "make your own" bowl from time to time. The first time I ordered from here was online. Online orders in my opinion are impossible to mess up because the order is quite literally right in front of you. There is no room for interpretation (or misinterpretation). Yet despite explicitly indicating my order online, I arrived to find it was wrong; my roll was made with white rice, despite indicating I wanted multi-grain rice. The second time I ordered online, there was all sorts of confusion since although they had my order, it was under the name "Ed," despite my name clearly being Steve. The third time I ordered online, I got a confirmation email and everything, yet arrived to find that they didn't have my order at all. Other times I have gone for the purpose of ordering a "poke" bowl only to find that they are out of salmon AND spicy tuna, which are the two ingredients on their menu that could potentially make for a "poke" bowl. Another time I went and clearly indicated I wanted a rice bowl to go, and I was ultimately handed a sushi-burrito. Another time I went with my brother. We each placed separate and distinct orders, which somehow got conflated with one another. For example if I ordered tuna and seaweed salad with white rice and my brother ordered salmon and mango with multigrain rice, I received a bowl with salmon, seaweed salad, and multrigrain rice. This is a simplified example but nonetheless true. We couldn't believe it. At this point I am almost deterred from coming here because I always know that my order will be wrong. It's a running joke amongst me and my friends, wondering how the order will be messed up, and/or wondering which ingredients they will run out of. The impetus for my writing this review just happened recently, when I ordered a Signature Roll with multigrain rice. I waited patiently for the roll and upon being handed my order, I see that it was made with white rice. I kindly told them that I indicated multigrain rice, at which point I was told that they do not have multigrain rice (they ran out). Had I known when placing my order that they were out of multigrain rice I more than likely would have either left or ordered something different. However, for some reason the person who took my order failed to tell me that, and therefore I ended up paying for something that I no longer wanted to eat. In summary, the food here is very good, and it's a great concept. However, whether it's the location, the staff, or I just have horrible bad luck (which is likely true to an extent), this place just cannot seem to get it together whenever I place an order. It's disappointing, because otherwise I would likely come here all the time. read more

The decor was nice and the service was quick. We tried the original Tonkatsu Ramen which was $12 a bowl. It was a little pricey but everything was tasty. The ramen noodles were well made and the bowl of noodles seemed endless and the char sit was plentiful and delicious. The one thing I was a little disappointed in was the broth. I stumbled upon Inspiration roll because of the high reviews my fellow yelp friends had given it and I'm glad to have given this place a shot. I came into this place around 12:30 this past Sunday. The place was completely empty, but I thought that it was understandable considering we had storm Noah they day before, and Morristown is notorious for being a town that stays up late and parties...Maybe they hangover cures haven't begun. The setting is different. There are inspirational quotes all over the wall - "Inspiration" Roll. There are high bar chairs for eating along the outside perimeter of the restaurant and a few tables in the center of the room. It seemed like a pizzeria was previously here the way it was set up. They had the glass showcase around the counter, as if people were to walk through the line and choose which slices they wanted to eat, except this was asian cuisine. We went straight to the counter in the center and ordered. I place my order, an app of porkbuns with pork belly, and 2 orders of the spicy ramen with porkbelly for my wife and I. The positive - Flavor was good, the mayo in the porkbun was really good, and the broth was really good, nicely seasoned and flavorful. The noodles were decent, didn't seem like they were out of a package. Porkbelly in the ramen was very well cooked, ton of flavor! The ramen came in a real bowl, I read in many of the other reviews that it came in a plastic container, but I'm really happy that they made this change. The negative - My porkbelly in the porkbun was completely cold. I was expecting either a warm porkbun or room temp, with warm pork belly. Disappointing, it would have taken it to the next level with the heat. The pork belly in the ramen was good, however, 50% was fat, and greatly disappointing that I couldn't get more of that good flavor. After a few pieces I ended up tossing all the fat. Food is great! If you don't mind terrible service and designating a fraction of your day to waiting for good food, this place is for you. I am always impressed with the quality of food they provide. Though the ramen is exceptionally salty, the fish is pretty great for this area where Asian food selections are sparse. In the midst of COVID-19 do not bother trying to call in. There is no prompt allowing for you to wait for Someone to take your order. Instead you will be hung up on assuming that the place is closed. When you go there physically to check and see if they are open, they will not let you in or take your order even though you are physically present. Instead you will have the option to wait for an exceptionally long time to order your meal that typically takes a couple minutes to prepare. In fact, I currently stand outside waiting for what is now 45 minutes for an order I wish that I could cancel. And I've encouraged what could have been 3 customers from ordering. I don't understand the negative reviews. For $28 we got exactly what we ordered, and 2 drinks. The food was decent, and came out fast and correct. The place is clean, the service friendly, and the vibe positive. People posting one star for plastic spoons, seriously? It's counter service quick food that exceeded our expectations. So many options in Morristown for sit down expensive meals, keep your expectations within your price point. Great for groups or kids too.
