SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!! Shady to the max!! Instant Car Fix is an absolute joke. Paid for parts and labor that was never received. Paid for a battery and both the positive and negative cables, because I was in another state. The mechanic only replaced the battery and I was charged the $559 for the cables ( Battery was $350 alone, extremely overpriced) . It's is soooooo incredibly clear that in the mechanic's pictures that those cables weren't replaced, even the guy I talked to from Instant Car Fix after the job was done had agreed. I was then told that manger's do not issue refunds, when I ask to speak to who handles refunds, they tell me that, "They don't do that"... I have to email them. I can't speak to who handles refunds.. I'M SORRY, THAT SOUNDS EXTREMELY SHADY . I called multiple times and same story. This company is nothing but a scummy middle person between customers and mechanics. They force you to pre pay parts, which seems like a horrible business model for automotive repairs. Their website is full of bogus nonsense reviews. I wish I never found this company, I will never understand why this company was the number one google hit for "mobile mechanics". A mechanic marked my vehicle as repaired and safe to drive after it was damaged by contaminated fuel. Yet, as soon as the mechanic left, the car wouldn't start again. No customer should have to pay for a service that doesn't resolve the problem or be left stranded after being told their vehicle is fixed. Companies must be held accountable for the quality of the work performed by the contractors they send. This experience has been frustrating, disappointing, and unacceptable. On November 9, 2025, I scheduled an appointment through Instant Car Fix for the replacement of all four brake pads. The dispatched technician was advertised as a certified mechanic. Upon arrival, the mechanic acknowledged my electronic parking brake and assured me that he possessed the necessary equipment to complete the work. Following the replacement of the brake pads, I discovered that my electronic parking brake was malfunctioning, and my brake pedals were ineffective in stopping my vehicle. I contacted Instant Car Fix, and the representative successfully reached out to the technician responsible for the work. Rashad informed me that the technician would return on the morning of November 10, 2025, to inspect his work and rectify any issues. However, on the following day, the technician failed to appear. A replacement technician was dispatched at 2:30 PM, and the new technician arrived at 5:30 PM. Upon inspection, they identified that the rear driver caliper had been severely damaged and was now inoperable. The technician described the damage as "hammer-like." The new technician informed me that I would need to replace the entire caliper and bleed the brake system. Consequently, due to the unqualified technician who was initially dispatched, my vehicle was inoperable, and I have had to pay out of pocket for damage I did not cause. I contracted a mechanic of my choosing to repair all the damage, and upon completion of the service, I was informed that the brake pads were installed incorrectly, and my brake sensors were left hanging freely. The mechanic who caused the various damage signed the acknowledgment and satisfaction form for me without my knowledge. I was informed by a supervisor that the mechanic was supposed to review the services completed and have me sign before the job can be marked as completed. If you have an issue for whatever reason, don't expect to get a timely response if you get a response at all. read more

If I could give no stars, I would because that is what this company deserves. The one star goes towards getting the partial refund I request, not the unreasonable amount initial offered. I called to get roadside assistance for a tire change. It was 15 minutes shy of the 3 HOUR MARK to finally have the mechanic arrive. Mechanic was there for less than 30 minutes. I am charged $245 for a problem THAT WAS NOT FIXED! I call back the next day. I takes almost 20 minutes to get a manage on the phone. Hi "Mary". I tell "Mary" everything. All I ask for was a reasonable partial refund because the job was not completed (again the task was to replace the tire... again, that was not done.) I was proposed with a $50 refund... ABSOLUTELY ABSURD! The reason to keep $195: to the pay the mechanic for his time and the gas he spent. Time spent and gas... great! I can do that math for you. Quick google search... hourly wage of a mobile mechanics in my state, specifically in my area... ~$31. Let's be generous and give this mechanic $40/hourly. Gas... mechanic was using his personal vehicle, which was smaller than mine... I would say similar gas mileage... ~$80/weekly. Time spent and gas= ~$120. My partial refund request... more than the proposed, yet less than the $120. And, if the business model is similar to InstaCart, DoorDash, Uber. UberEats, etc., the company is paying the mechanic for the mileage in-between the jobs. If you don't want your intelligence insulted and false advertising (under the How We Work section of the website, it is stated "no long wait"... ~3 hours definitely is a long wait)... The guy came from 1 1/2 hours away. Not my fault they cant get local mechanics to fix my car. Was supposed to put on alternator belt and pulley. Said everything was fine. It was making a clicking noise. He had me sign invoice which i did not receive until 2 days later and he said alternator belt put on wrong and he fixes it. It was a lie. Carried to advance auto manager said clicking noise not normal. He never brought out one tool and charged me $356. Which was a ripoff. Thank God. I paid thru paypal. I have a dispute filed. Mechanic showed up to change spark plugs and proceeded to break off at least 2 while trying to remove them. Agreed to return to complete job after getting a tool that I had to order. Did not come back and he told his home office he completed job. Upon contacting office, they made no attempt to rectify problem. Have text messages and pictures showing the mechanic was not truthful. I don't believe they really screen their mechanics and in my case it was a problem. I now have a truck that won't run sitting in my driveway and had to open up a complaint with the Missouri State Attorney General. Unfortunately no way to know what mechanic will be like. read more

I have been a mechanic for them. They overcharge the customer. For instance I got paid $100 but they charged the customer $135. The tried to charge the customer $950 when I was only going to charge $500 for the work and parts. It Takes a long time to get paid. And very very rude. Do not use this company...They do not show up when you have an apppt. and their customer service is horrible.They do not get back to you when your having an issue and refer you to send an email to an unknown recipient when you do. I had called them to replace a thermostat in my 2013 Audi SQ5. The mechanic who showed up said there was a bulletin stating it could be fixed by some program update. He said if the temperature didn't go above a certain range he could apply it and it would be fixed. He applied it and it appeared to work but on the second day the high temperature reading came back. I reached out that we needed to change the thermostat. He said he was on vacation for a week and he could fix it. A week passed and no response. I called the company and they said they would send someone else out. They didn't show up, so I called again and finally someone showed up at 5:30 pm to do a minimum 4 hr job. He didnt even bring the required parts or coolant... just the thermostat. When he finished at midnight, I knew this was not going to work but he didnt have coolant so there was no way to test it. I had to order it the next day and it took another day to get it. As I poured it into my reservoir tank it all leaked out. I was going nowhere after almost 2 weeks of dealing with this company. I called him back to check it and he said we just need an o-ring and I had to wait another 4 days. He didnt even have it overnighted after all they put me through. The day he was supposed to come and fix it..he tells me he has a flat tire. I had it... so I had it towed to another shop and he had broken the main pipe to the coolant system... no o-ring simple fix. So after this company stole $1,340.58 from me and didn't fix my car and wasted over 2 weeks of my time, they ghosted me and havent given me back money. I am awaiting the refund or I will refer this to my attorney. Do not use this company for any foreign car as they do not have qualified mechanics and they dont care about their customers. read more

DO NOT USE THEM. I requested for a mechanic to come out to fix a blown head gasket. The mechanic came out did not inspect the car but just went based off what I told him. So the solution was for me to get a new engine because this company doesn't offer blown head gasket service. I reached out to another mechanic and guess what, I DON'T HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. If the mechanic would have inspected the car he would've seen that but he didn't. I requested a refund because I felt as if the mechanic did not provide any services for $130 and the company is giving me the run around asking for reports however, the guy that was sent out to me didn't give me a report, he was late, and he was not knowledgeable of what he was paid to come out to do. $130 was for a diagnosis why wasn't my car inspected to be diagnosed? Just don't use them y'all save you some money. I found a guy who is official, trust worthy, and reasonably priced send me a message and I'll sent over his information. *update* um my car isn't toast and the person you sent out to inspect my car was toasted..is quite mind boggling how a company who sucks don't want to refund the money for services that they did not provide. It's not a worry because the transaction will be disputed. You're asking for a report but your company did not provide me with a report. I had a services window from 11 am to 3 pm, with a note stating I would hear 30 minutes before the mechanic arrived. 3 pm came by, and I hadn't heard anything. I called and spoke with someone who said the mechanic would arrive in an hour. A couple of hours passed, and I called again as no one had arrived, and I hadn't heard anything. A female employee answered this time. She lacked empathy or any level of understanding of my frustration. She attempted to state that traffic was the reason for the delay. I am pretty sure she hung up on me and, overall, was not helpful. The mechanic's arrival at 6 p.m., three hours after the service window and seven hours after its start, further underscored the service's lack of punctuality. His explanation of being stuck at a previous job, without any mention of a '3-hour traffic delay,' only added to the frustration. The mechanic finished the starter replacement in 3 hours. My car was completed at 9 pm. My car is making an odd noise this morning that it wasn't making prior to the appointment. If you value punctuality and clear communication, this service is not for you. The discrepancy between the promised and actual service time, the lack of updates, and the dismissive attitude of the staff are all red flags that I would advise others to steer clear of. read more

Backyard mechanics, would not recommend, removed battery from car and came back and replaced it when I was not at home, don't know what else they could have done to the car with no one available. Was a week late responding after I paid for diagnosis. Found out alternator was seized and starter was defective, they installed both. Don't seem to have to much knowledge about cars. read more

They are quick with the response time if they don't pick up . I loved that they came to my house in the rain && set up a tent to protect my car. He finished working on my car in about 2 1/2 hours which is way better than going to dealer ship and waiting days ! My only con was when he finished he didn't call me to tell me he was done. I did not have a good experience at all. I confirmed a Saturday appointment with a window of 10 AM - 2 PM for a diagnostic review at a $99.00 flat rate. By 1:30 PM, I was still waiting and had not received any call (even though I was assured of a call within 30 minutes of arrival). I reached out and was informed that my designated mechanic was still stuck at another job and would be leaving it soon. It was 3 PM when he finally arrived. I had plans for 4:30 PM and needed to leave by 4 PM at the latest. I expressed my dissatisfaction to Ian (the mechanic -- perfectly polite). He informed me that he had told the scheduler that he had an earlier morning appointment covering most of the same time window and shouldn't have been scheduled for me. He still offered to do the best he could to complete the diagnostic. Unfortunately, he ran into a problem and needed to come back. Upon scheduling for the return visit (and taking time away from work), I was made aware for the first time that the company wanted to charge $99.00/hr for the diagnostic and that it would take several hours. I reminded them of my email confirmation for a diagnostic at $99 with no reference as an hourly charge. They indicated that this would not be honored. As such, I cancelled my appointment. I can't appreciate either terms being changed mid-transaction or the company not clearly expressing its costs/policies at a cost to my pocket. Neither can I accept the amount of time that was wasted awaiting service or preparing for a cancelled visit. The company's duty manager's response to my expressed dissatisfaction was sorely lacking as well. I'd rather take my business elsewhere. read more
