Our experience started out well enough with this establishment, Nicole being helpful on the phone to sort out which Interstate location could be closest to fit our needs for a replacement battery. We live in Long Beach and have had two different Interstate batteries go bad within 2 years each, both installed by private mechanics in various locations of So Cal. So, we were looking for a company store who would take responsibility for the battery and install a new one. We were told to contact the Garden Grove store and Whittier store by Nicole, but those stores are actually only one store...and they don't actually install. However, Nicole said her location does install for $10, so even though it was a much longer drive, we figured we had to do it. Nicole even called back to see what our make and model car was to ensure it could be installed, and said that her husband said it should be able to be worked on...with a caveat that they'd know for sure when we got there. So, all well and good, until we got there. The installer said right away that it couldn't be done. OK, Nicole had mentioned the caveat. But, instead of working with us to find a solution, Nicole because defensive and talking over us while we were trying to talk it through and find a solution. We suggested we pay them more than $10, we suggested they give us the replacement and we find another place to install. But Nicole took no seeming interest in working through the issue, now that we had driven that far, and simply kept defending herself that she had given us the caveat that "we'll be able to know for sure when you get here." It wasn't the details as much as the hugely non-customer-service focus of this establishment that we'd warn anyone to be aware of. Seemingly nice first connection, but if something goes wrong, watch out. The proprietor is always right. read more

My husband and I had just got back from our honeymoon to find out our car battery died while we were away. After AAA jumped our car and ran a diagnostic, we were told our 2 year old battery would no longer hold a charge and that we needed to buy a new one for $125. So with our car running we drove it to Interstate hoping for a better deal. Juan, from Interstate, ran a complimentary diagnostic and said our battery just needed maintenance. My battery was about to dying and I was lucky enough to jump start the car to get it to to Interstate in SGV. My car dealer service advisor advised me to replace my stock battery with an Interstate battery (because otherwise the dealer was going to charge me an arm and a leg). I made a quick phone call in the morning to confirm if they battery was available and it was confirmed that it was. I'm driving from Pasadena to SGV hoping my car won't die on me and I made it...after a few detours because they're doing road construction on Mission Blvd. The business is still open; you'll just have to find a way to get to it with the detour. Once I got there, I started removing my battery. I had some difficulty, so I asked a technician for assistance. The two techs that I interacted with were both very nice and provided good customer service. I proceeded to remove my own battery and purchased an Interstate battery, I was able to install it into my car and pay for it. The warranty on my new Interstate battery is 6 years, with 30 months free replacement I believe. Overall, 1) great customer service and 2) so far I'm happy with the battery (although it can be somewhat expensive, but you can't skimp on quality). read more

My initial review of this place is it is honest. The service fellow checked my car battery with his tools and told me my battery is still working. Just a day ago, I had car maintenance at my car dealer and they told me the battery failed the test. So I came expecting to replace a battery. Had a Optima battery in my Chevy truck for seven yrs it finally started going bad I've heard good reviews on Interstate so I purchased one at a nearby auto parts they told me for any warranty issues I can take it to any Interstate store,after 18 mths it started to slow crank so I brought it in and the (manager) tested it and said it was good and said there's something wrong with my truck we'll when I tried to explain he didn't want to hear it and just kept insisting it was good with a rude attitude and just walked away we'll I've been a master auto technician for over 35yrs I think I would know if the battery had a weak cell causing slow crank but I guess the (manager)knows better he didn't want to hear it and I didn't want to waste my time with someone so incompetent so I left and went to purchase another Optima and haven't had a problem since,Interstate batteries are junk and the service is terrible I buy nothing but Optima now for all my vehicles and boats there pricey but worth it I for sure will not be returning here and don't recommend read more

This rating is not for the battery itself, but rather the person working at this location. He had black slicked back hair, don't know his name. First off, he asked us questions about the car in a tone you could just tell he was not in a good mood. My dad had asked him to borrow a measuring tape, as he needed to measure the height of the old battery. For some reason this request had annoyed him a lot. We follow him, he gets the new battery, slams it down next to our old one and pushes them together and says "still need a measuring tape?" I guess he thought we had still asked to use the measuring tape, so this guy turns around, let's out this big annoyed sigh, and literally shakes his head right in front of us because he had to go get the measuring tape... I'm still confused as to why our request for a measuring tape made this guy so mad? Either way, not an excuse to act that way! Extremely rude, and acts as though he hates his job. If you already know it's only the battery then you can go there for the replacement coz they only know how to open bolts. Other than that they are highly unprofessional and unskilled in troubleshooting. Infact they know nothing!!! I had a starter problem and they replaced my fully functional battery and sold their used one to me. Next day they did the same shit and replaced the battery. Friendly staff. Very attentive. We bought a battery that was too small for some reason and took it back immediately for an exchange. OK, so I needed a replacement battery for one of my trucks. Let's call this Truck #1 and the battery was over 6 years old. I called Interstate All Battery Center in San Gabriel to get a quote, I was so impressed with the amazing customer service on the phone from Leslee in the office. Leslee explained the warranty with great detail and even explained that my truck had two different battery model options because Ford made changes during the model year. I asked Leslee if it was OK if could just come down, buy the battery, take it home and install it myself. She said sure and then made sure that I understood that I needed to bring the old battery with me so it would be recycled properly and also avoid my paying a core charge. Again, Leslee made sure that I understood EVERYTHING. She is awesome. And my goodness, she is so knowledgeable about batteries, warranties, pricing, sealed or unsealed. She knows her products very well. So, I I removed the battery from Truck #1 put it in the back of my other truck (Truck #2). As luck would have it, the battery in my Truck #2 made the slow rrr-click click click rrrrrr as I was starting it. I was able to start, but it was now apparent that I might need TWO batteries. The battery in Truck #2 was was just over 3 years old. On my way down to the shop, I called the phone number again and Leslee picked up. I told her the situation, and asked how much would it cost to check the battery in Truck #2. She said, no charge to do a battery test. So that was a relief. Leslee really made me feel at ease about the whole process. When I got to the shop, Roy was the technician assigned to bring me the battery for Truck #1 and do the free inspection and test of the battery in Truck #2. Roy checked out the battery in Truck #2 and it showed be that it was "weak". So, I purchased batteries for Truck #1 and #2 at the same time. I then learned from another technician helping that Truck # 2 had odd sized bolts holding the battery. Roy went to his tool box, an there was the tool needed. Roy also had a gizmo that plugged into my truck so that my radio would not lose presets while the battery was being replaced. I can't tell you the number of times in the past when I would be sitting outside the mechanic or dealership reprogramming my radio that only a Millennial can figure out. The fact that Roy had this thing that kept my radio presets was so very helpful. Roy also performed tests to ensure my alternator was charging properly. Between the special socket size, installing anti corrosion washers, not having to reset the radio, it was worth the 15 bucks for installation. Oh, Roy gave me a set of anti corrosion washers for free for Truck #1. I had no idea that these anti corrosion washers existed and that they create a seal on the terminals. Over the years when I have previously had had batteries installed at tire shops and dealerships, these anti corrosion washers have never been installed. So, my opinion is that Interstate All Battery Center in San Gabriel has top notch customer service. They really know their products, and have professional installation staff as well have the proper tools . And they take the time to make sure you understand the entire process.
