An interstate battery that is still under warranty needed to be replaced in my car. We called in the morning and were told that if we bring the car to their location, they will replace the battery for the $10 fee. We live in Long Beach, so we asked them to make sure that the battery indeed can be replaced in the particular model car I own, so I if I make the 1-hour drive from Long Beach to San Gabriel, I can be sure that the battery will be replaced. They confirmed that they would. When I got to the shop, I spoke with Nicole - the woman we spoke with on the phone earlier. She said that they can't replace the battery because it will take them too long. In the 5-10 minute conversation with her, she did not let us finish a phrase or a sentence. She did not listen or hear anything we were saying. She interrupted, spoke over us, and was defensive all the way. She had no consideration for giving us misleading information, and was not interested in working with us to find any possible solutions. Because the battery is still under warranty, we asked if she can just give us a replacement battery (which would be free under warranty) and we will find a place to install it. She said that she can sell it to us because they can't take out the bad battery that's in the car. She offered no options and no possible solutions. After a 1-hour drive, I ended leaving with nothing and driving an hour back to Long Beach. Overall the most terrible attitude - no customer service and no customer care. read more

I never have any complaints when coming to this place to get my batteries. I think in to (so far), I've gotten 4 batteries here for my car and my mom's car. The staff is always very useful whether it's any small questions that i have, and giving me the best recommendation of which battery to get. They have different types of levels of car batteries depending on price and how good they are. They also sell smaller batteries for other purposes like the AA, AAA, cell phone and key fob batteries. When i came back to get a second battery for my mom's car a few years later, the employee (didn't catch his name) remembered that the battery is still under the prorated warranty, so he could've just sold me a completely new battery for full price, but he suggested looking at the date on the current one and then charged me the new battery with full price minus the prorated warranty price of the current one. The shop has their own private parking lot, and if you have your own tools, you can always buy the battery, and then swap it out and give them your old battery to recycle without having to leave and come back. They will change it for you, but for $10 (from what i remember). Unfortunately, they do not lend you any tools, so if you wanted to change your battery yourself there, you'll have to bring your own tools. Overall, this facility is very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful when it comes to picking the right battery. I have always came back to get more batteries, and most likely will continuing coming back for years to come. read more

My car was giving me problems lately by not starting correctly. The interstate battery in there is like over 5 years from the last purchase. Took a couple tries each time to get the car started, so I decided to take the car to my favorite San Gabriel Interstate Battery Store and Kevin was kind to help me. My battery died so I called to get a price quote and they were friendly, gave me a price on a battery cheaper than what the Toyota dealership offered (even after the 50% discount bc my old battery was still under warranty). When I arrived a nice gentleman quickly asked what I needed and said he'd be with me as soon as he finished. He wasn't kidding. He changed the posts on my battery as as well and installed in about 10-15 minutes. The battery was $89 plus a $10 installation fee and $3 to replace each post. This was dramatically cheaper and more convenient than the dealership (plus the Toyota dealership said it would take 2-3 hours). I would highly recommend this place because: -prices are competitive -they are quick! -they're friendly. -my interstate batteries have lasted longer than my Toyota factory ones. -the warranty is better on these Interstate batteries and you can find them all over the place. read more

I purchased a battery with a 5 year warranty from this location and not even a month later the battery went bad. I was informed by the employees of the location especially Edgar that my alternator was possibly bad because the battery was good and they performed a charge overnight I received the battery the following day and took my car to my mechanic and had him check the alternator and my alternator was good. Not even a month later the battery goes dead again and I I had the car towed to the mechanic and my alternator was checked which came back good and the battery was bad. Apparently the battery had a bad cell, so I took the battery back to Interstate and gave me a hard time with my warranty and having them replace the battery for another one. After and short dispute with the employees and management, I was able to get the battery replaced but my warranty was voided. So I will never go back to this local and I recommend if you want a Interstate battery product go to Costco and purchase one there. There warranty is much better and they will not give you a hassle like this place. read more

This review of mainly regarding their business practice and service, not the battery itself. I went here to check the battery and ended up getting it replaced. Got the 5 year warranty one for $112. I asked if they install battery and they said yeah and basically unscrewed the old one and put in the new one and put the screws back on which in all took less than 5 minutes. A 14 year old could have done the job with a pair of pliers. After all said and done the guy charged me $10 for the installation with no mention of it at all. I called him and he shamelessly said he told me about it. Granted the price of the battery was reasonable but the $10 charge threw me under the bus cause they know most people wouldn't have brought their tools given almost all places that sells car battery do it for FREE! read more

Dont buy battery here. Customer service is poor. They do not keep their promise. I bought my battery on September, 2014. Today (8/1/2016) I came back here because the battery that I purchased here is dead. The staff tested the battery, and it turned out to have bad cells (which is basically a defect product). Then, we walked into the office, and the staff wants me to pay $70 for a replacement battery. He explained that my battery only has 18months warranty. WHAT?! I bought a battery from this company solely because people keep saying that they stand behind their product and keep their promise/warranty. When I bought the battery, they promised 36months performance warranty. Turns out this company just another shady company. Why should I pay more money for a battery that only last for 2 years! I would rather go to Costco and get it from them and have a peace of mind knowing that they will stand by their warranty. Also, Interstate's staff told me that they don't carry the battery that I purchased anymore because that particular battery got into a major lawsuit. In other words, this major brand got into a trouble with their product. Then when customers came to complain about that said product, they act like it's not their fault I got a bad product. Then, they want me to pay for a replacement. Conclusion is stay away from this business. Product can be fixed, but regaining customer's trust is hard. The time had come for me to get a new battery for my car. So I called a couple places nearby, including a Pep Boys, to get an idea how much it would cost. Pep Boys told me over the phone that a new battery + installation would run around $200. My boyfriend told me that's a little excessive and suggested that I try Interstate. He said he'd had really good experience with them and, when it comes to batteries, you want someone who know what they are doing. Unfortunately, the Interstate closest to me does not do installation. So even though I live just north of the LAX, I drove all the way out to the Interstate in San Gabriel. Let me just say - it was most definitely worth the drive! I drove up, within minutes, Johnny from Interstate asked if I'd been helped. Immediately, he pulled up a cart and started assessing my battery life. Once he determined that I did in fact need to get a new battery, he presented me with options and succinct explanation to the pros and cons behind each option. After I explained that I wanted to go with the cheaper option because I'm planning on trading my car in soon, he recommended that I went with a re-conditioned battery with one-year warranty for an even cheaper price. I was in and out of the battery replacement center within 30 minutes. Johnny was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. What impressed me is not only the professionalism, but also the fact that this is a business that is genuinely trying to do what is best for their customers. I've been to too many repair shops to know that a lot of them try to quote you ridiculous numbers because they think I'm a girl and I probably don't know anything about the repairs. They do NOT honor their warranty. My Interstate battery was about 3 years old (out of a 5 year warranty). I took my car in after having it jumped and an employee there tested it, but said the battery was fine. "It's something else wrong with the car." So, okay, the car starts now and I drive away because I have to get to work. Of course, my car wouldn't start again after work and I took it to a local O'Reilly's to have the battery checked and lo and behold, their tester says my battery has a bad cell and should be replaced. Pop in a new battery and problem solved. I have bought at least five Interstate batteries over the years for my cars and my business trucks but NO MORE. Their warranty is worthless if they won't honor it, and this company will not see another dime of my money. read more

Gilbert was the best!!! I had an issue with the body shop I recently went to because they left my battery loose for some reason and my car didn't start last few days so I had to carpool.
