My car displayed a message saying "service transmission immediately" and stopped driving while I was on the freeway. I got it towed to IQ (recommended by my tow truck driver) and received a call a couple hours later saying that my car was driving just fine. I did not do work at this place because I feel the guy there isn't being complete honest. Here is what happened. My regular garage told me I may need to change front brake because the front break is estimated about 10-15% left, but I don't need to change the rear break because last time checked it still had 50%(only 3000 mile ago). Since my regular garage is far away, I think I may be able to find one that is closer to just change the break, which is routine work. So I called IQ, and dropped my car there. I was later called and told that all my four breaks and rotors should be changed. I questioned why the rear break needs to be changed. IQ told me that the rear break can only go about 3000-5000 miles more. This doesn't make sense with 40-50% breaks left. Then I asked if I can only change the front. They quoted me something high. I then asked their best price. They asked me to wait for a while and then comes back trying to pushing me to still do four breaks with somewhat $200 lower. But they did not lower price much on front break only. I then asked if they use genuine parts or aftermarket parts, they said it will be aftermarket parts. For the same price they quoted, my regular garage uses genuine parts. What's more frustrating is that when I told them I don't want to do it, they ask me to come back in about an hour to take the car since they are closing at 3PM. True, it is a Saturday, but according to Yelp, they open until 6PM on Saturday. Then I questioned them that if they really close at 3PM, they would not have time to do the work, since it has already passes 2PM when they called me and tried to push me to change all four breaks. They said something like they would have 2 technicians working on it so it can be done. I just feel that they are not being honest and probably don't deserve a 5 star. read more

Jeff, John, and the rest of the team at IQ Autoworks are simply amazing. I destroyed the whole undercarriage of my 2014 328i BMW, and they restored it back to perfect working order. A ton of tiny little pieces had to be replaced, and they made sure every single thing was working perfectly before they gave it back to me - and it was all done very timely. When I noticed one of the sensors on my car wasn't working, I took it back to them and they fixed it without hesitation. My 1996 Honda Accord needed new front axles and I received price quotes ranging from $600 - $725 from several auto repair shops. I found Fleet Tech on the internet and read the good reviews on Yelp so I gave Jeff a call. He said he could replace both front axles for $350, so I drove to his shop in Campbell and got to watch while he and Roberto did the repair. They did a great job and completed the work in about 45 minutes. Jeff is a nice guy and seems very knowledgeable and honest. My car has other problems and Jeff told me I didn't need to fix them right away which was great since I'm out of work right now. Most mechanics try to scare you into fixing as much as possible to get more business from you. I will definitely bring my car back to Fleet Tech and would recommend them to my friends. read more

I have a 17-yr-old Volvo that needs repair. The A/C didn't work, the car died sometimes for no apparent reason, and I didn't feel safe driving it on the freeway. I took it to the dealer, and the estimate came out to be about 2.5K!! My daughter suggested that I search for a good mechanic on yelp. That's how I found Jeff. Jeff was very nice and took the time to check my car, and repaired everything for half of what the dealer would have charged me! Ok, I'm not much of a "reviewer" but I felt compelled after all the good service at IQ. I've taken both our 2002 Subaru Impreza and our Toyota Prius to Jeff and the crew. Initially I needed an emergency front break/rotor and drum repair on a Saturday. Jeff was one of the very few places open on a Saturday and he told me to come down straight away. All the work was done by end of day Monday and his guys accidentally replaced the rear breaks too! (I needed it, but I was going to hold off). Now, he could've easily told his guys to take em back off, but instead let it go and I happily brought our other car back when it needed service. Any parts he took off your car he'll show you so you know what it was and why he needed to replace it. Replacement parts are dealer certified and not after-market cheap junk. The one aspect of their work that I really like is that no matter what your there for, they go over the whole car front to back to identify any other issues so there's no nasty surprises. I'd rather know up front what I'm in for than have to keep coming back for every little thing. If you're like me, you probably take your car and its dependability for granted. You don't know you need a good mechanic until you really need one. Glad I found one. read more

Incredibly friendly mechanics! One night my car broke down on the freeway, and I asked the tow truck driver to bring me to any car shop nearby. He chose IQ and we've been bringing both our cars here when they need work now. Jeff is incredibly accommodating and friendly. It's a relief to find a mechanic who is honest and caring.. He is very good about explaining what is going on inside your car and letting you make informed decisions about how much work it really needs. He is also very kind about working with you on charging affordable prices. I've found that most mechanics will deceive customers into believing they need to put in much more money and work into their car than necessary, but I never had that problem here. I brought my car in a few months ago and got the belts replaced. A few months later, I called and asked if they could still tighten the belts as they'd become loose and squeaky. Although their store was very busy that day, John told me he would take a look if I brought it over. He assisted me as soon as I got to IQ and had some guys fix up my car with no wait, and no charge. My mechanic in Santa Rosa told me on two different occasions that the motor mounts on my car needed to be replaced. When I was back home in Santa Rosa I made the mistake of getting a quote for the job from IQ Autoworks. It was lower than the quote in Santa Rosa, so I told Jeff/IQ Autoworks to do the work, which they did. A few months later, my mechanic in San Jose advised me that the motor mounts had to be replaced. I got a second opinion from my uncle's mechanic in Petaluma, so they did the work and found that the front motor mount was okay, but that the back motor mount needed to be replaced. (The back motormount is very difficult to access.) So I had to pay them to do the work. This complaint is just one of many I have against these greenhorns. read more

Having had my first experience with Jeff at IQ Autoworks, I am feeling like I received some good quality maintenance and repair work. My intention was to have have my battery checked and possibly replaced. After inspecting my car, he pointed out several problems that I was totally unaware of. Where to begin? I own a trusty 10+ old car, 200k miles, 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor to be exact. Well when I started hearing what sounded like a Jet engine ramping up to take off coming from my engine, I thought, "i HAVE to find a mechanic!" I asked around to friends and to no avail, nobody had anything to offer that would work in my situation, and so I took to YELP to find my new mechanic, and since I am new to Campbell, I came upon IQ AutoWorks. I gave them a call and right off the bat I was greeted with concern and a comfortable type employee manning the phones, Tesh is his name. Well Tesh offered to send a tow truck, but being a single mom on a limited income, I opted to pass on the offer. Still he insisted that if I had issues bringing my car in and something happens en route to them, all I had to do was call. Thankfully, I made it safely to the shop, where I was greeted by Tesh and had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Jeff. Jeff asked me a few questions and then threw out some ideas under his breath (Thinking outloud moment) as to what may be the issue, I instantly was impressed by his straight shooter attitude and down to earth personality. I initially signed up to have my car diagnosed, which they do for about $120.00 but if you end up having them do the work it will go as a credit towards your final cost. A day later Tesh had to deliver the unfortunate news that my car had allot going on in concern to its upkeep and fix. Turns out I needed to replace the Transfer Case, timing belt and breaks and rotors on all four wheels, and at a minimum! I think they had a sense of my shock and struggle to pay for all of those things at once (which the quote was more than fair, I checked with a few of my mechanical inclined friends one who previously worked as a mechanic). IQ offered up a new financing program through a third party, that does require a substantial deposit and a %15 fee, but if you are in a bad way financially, the thought that they are participating in such a program is helpful, especially if your car is your livelihood. Jeffs brother John handles that portion, good guy as well. I didn't end up going that direction and was actually able to pay in full, but always good to know a shop offers that. Focus Janine! Onward with the review. lol Well, I struggled with the idea of giving up my beloved ride for a new one since the cost was so much to keep it, and in the end I did the smart thing, and confided in Jeff for his opinion. Mind you he is a straight shooter, so when I went over the pros and cons, his professional and honest opinion made it possible for me to decide on giving my car a fighting chance. A few weeks later and a daily call every day to Tesh who knew it was me calling and still answered lol (Sidenote: the part and some logistics delayed the initial start and finish at no fault of IQ) my car was finished! I have to tell you though, my car hasn't ran this smooth since I first got it. Well worth the time and risk based on yelp reviews. Jeff has a clean, large shop. The customer service and personable theme completely restores my faith in good business. I will ALWAYS come to Jeff. I had an old Mercedes with something blocking that engine. No one could figure out what was wrong with the engine. After calling another tow from another failed mechanic attempt the AAA man suggested I try Jeff at IQ mechanics. I joked with him that he'd better be smart. The moment I saw Jeff I knew this guy was sharp as they get. He made it very clear what he was going to do and how long it was going to take and what expenses were involved. This is a man that does not mince his words and he makes everything crystal clear and keeps to his word. He was the only one out of half a dozen mechanics that correctly diagnosed and fixed the problem and got me on my merry way. He is sharp, and dare I say handsome, and a real gem to work with. I spent a lot of money recently for repairs to my truck with another shop, only to find out that they were being less than honest. Jeff offered to look at the work they had and hadn't done, and let me know what actually needed to happen. The result proved that we needed far less work done, and Jeff also identified work that needed to be done that the other shop had entirely missed. These guys are so great!!I am not a car person and honestly going to the mechanic is not my favorite thing. I went in because I sort of did not put oil in my car for a while, whiiiich apparently kills your engine so it was necasary for me to finally go to a mechanic. Luckily these guys were fantastic!! They not only got a new engine for my car but also put in a new clutch and took off white paint that was imbedded in the side of my car from a tricky little pole that I may have bumped about a year ago. Not only does my car run and look great but by replacing the clutch while they were in there saves me a ton of money in the long run! Also since I commute to SF for work they gave me a great loner car for the entire time mine was in the shop.This made the entire experience super easy.They were also just a great group of guys keeping my mother and I both updated the entire time, and making what could have been an awful experience way easier than expected.Thank you so much, and thanks for the Techno CD that had me laughing the drive back home! read more

These guys are always so friendly and really care to help you out. Iv'e gone to them a few times when my car breaks down on me. Kinda pricy when it comes to fixing breaks (I had my stepdad do it instead) but everything else was reasonably priced. The first time I went, I was panicking that I wouldn't have a car. I am a nanny, and need to pick the girls up from school everyday. They loaned me a rental at no charge until they had my jeep fixed! Just recently after going on a trip, my car died and a whole bunch of lights on the dash kept blinking. After getting it to run, their shop was the first place I went to. They took time out of their morning to check my lights, and check my battery. Everything said it was fine, they offered to install a new battery right then and there to ease my mind. Great guys! I just wanted to update my review to make sure people know where to find a good, knowledgeable, honest and considerate mechanic. I trust Jeff and the IQ Autoworks team with their car diagnostics. They have great work ethics and the prices are affordable. I'll keep coming back with all my car issues because IQ Autoworks has a great level of service. I drive quite a few miles to go to this shop but it is worth it. I took our family cars to Jeff last year for the first time (read my prior review) and I did not have any issues since then. This year, I returned to have the oil changed in three of our cars and have a general inspection done in two of them. He did a free general inspection and found some issues that needed to be dealt with. He not only took care of the needed repairs but one of the cars needed a smog check and although IQ Autoworks does not do smog checks, Jeff went the extra mile and took my car to a nearby shop and had the smog check done for me so when I picked up the car everything was done at once. If you have any car issues don't hesitate to give Jeff a call; you won't regret it. He is courteous, polite and explains clearly all the issues and needed repairs and cost before doing the work. Jeff's car repair estimations are very accurate. Rarely will you find a mechanic that ends up charging you the original estimated amount or less for the repairs.Thanks Jeff! read more

I just have to rave about the guys at IQ Autoworks. Yesterday I couldn't move the shift nob into gear and since I couldn't get it into PARK, it wouldn't start. I called AAA and the driver recommended IQ. I usually go to a shop downtown San Jose, but since I trust AAA, I trusted his recommendation. We figured I would need a new shift cable and I was prepared for a huge bill. But while Jeff was investigating, he discovered that the cable was OK, but the little bracket that holds the cable was broken. The bracket itself cannot be ordered since it's part of the steering column. But instead of charging me $800+ for a new steering column (like most shops would) Jeff welded the bracket and I walked out at a fraction of the cost. I told my brother (who is a mechanic, but out of the area) the story and he confirmed that any other shop would have gone for the higher sale and stuck me for the whole steering column. Then, as I drove away, I discovered an unrelated issue with my alarm, called Jeff, he told me to come back and he fixed it on the spot at no charge! It's so refreshing and reassuring to find a group of competent, fair professionals out there that I can trust with my vehicle and my wallet...and that's how I'd describe Jeff and his crew...they have a customer for life! read more

Very good at diagnosis. I found these guys on Yelp out of neccessity. I had my engine light on in my Volvo for about two months and I needed it fixed for smog. I first went to my regular mechanic that I had been using just because they were closest to my home in san jose. they tried to figure it out for 5 days constantly changing their mind on what was causing the light and I spent a nearly 1000 on things I obviously didnt need cause the light is still on. I went to IQ based on the reviews I read and thier ability to diagnose tough issues. Jeff was very nice on the phone and had heard my story 100times. He took me in the same day and found that my 02 sensors werent working right. also I had some maintenance to do so I let them take care of my timing belt and waterpump. They were able to find the problem fix it and do all the maintenance in 1 day. I dont know how they do it but they do it right and they do it fast. It definately matters where you bring your car so dont bother going anywhere else if you live near campbell these guys are the best read more

Beware Jeff seems like a great guy but I would be very careful taking his word for it. My quote was $2300.00 minimum. A water line hose connector broke on my S2000 leaving me to be towed. AAA sent a truck super-fast, the tow truck driver highly recommended IQ autoworks. Jeff (the owner) told me the radiator was cracked and must be replaced; also the engine had over heated and had no compression. Jeff said Replacement of the radiator and new head gasket at minimum. He did not even catch the broken hose connector that I noticed. This was a big red flag to me so I had it towed to my normal mechanic. He fixed the valves, replaced, the head gasket, and repaired the broken hose. No problem with the radiator at all and now it runs great for only $1500.00. Jeff even showed me where he saw the radiator leaking from. Jeff told me they pressure checked it. How can you pressure check it with a broken hose and not find the broken hose? After I called Jeff and told him the radiator was fine, Jeff blamed it on an employee and said he would not have replaced it unless it were bad. I am sorry but I don't buy it, Why would they pressure check the radiator a second time before replacing it. Jeff charged me $150.00 for his time. Did this quick look reallly take 1.5 hrs? Would he have ordered the radiator and charged me to replace it or checked it a second time after telling me he saw it bubbling out the side? Sorry but this was just wrong and I had do say something about it. read more
