Vegetarian reviewer: This restaurant is a little Mediterranean gem conveniently located in the same complex as Indian grocery store, Patel Brothers, which makes it perfect for a quick stop after shopping. The staff is very welcoming and the ambience is tastefully created with simple yet elegant decor. Here are some of the things I have tried so far- 1. falafel wrap - it was delicious! Flavorful and juicy and filling. You don't need no hot sauce or tahini on the side. 2. Fries, and it was fresh and a little oily for my liking(no problem, they have napkins :)). I would recommend letting them know to make it well done if you like, how I like it :) 3. Zaatar bread - omg! This one was so tasty! I would 100% recommend it. It wasn't too salty - so I added some salt and pepper to make it to my liking and it was awesome. Well if you like it crispy or maybe a little more done than done a soft bread, let them know coz I am gonna ask for it next time :) I am coming back definitely to try their falafel plate, desserts and Mango lassi next time when I am in the area! We were welcomed with such a warm and friendly smile, it was SO NICE. I don't think I've ever been welcomed to nicely to a restaurant. Thank for you that. Obviously this is an authentic restaurant and we arent Mediterranean and looked a bit confused while looking at their menu. The guy (maybe the owner?) was so nice to explain the menu and give us suggestions. We ended up getting the chicken damascus style. It was so flavorful and filling, but not too heavy, you know what I mean? I loved the white sauce they add in there, it adds a different flavor and goes so well with the meat. The meat was also tender. It also had pickles and I thought that was a great addition to add some texture to the wrap. We also ended up getting the manakeesh (with zaatar and cheese) and we were surprised at how tasty that was. It has a bit of kick to it. I was lucky enough to go to a Yelp event for this store and I have to say I was blown away. It was fabulous the second I walked in! Everyone was so nice there, especially the person taking our order. She was patient and really walked me through what the options were, the difference between the desserts, etc. The food, though, was next level. I've tried different Mediterranean restaurants, but this was truly one of the best I've been to. I had the Lamb Plate, and it was so fresh, and seasoned perfectly. I had the shawarma wrap with lamb, Damascus style. The lamb was juicy and tender. There were fresh vegetables and the lavash was perfectly crisp and chewy. I like that I could grab the cut wrap and eat it while everything remained intact. The fries tasted fresh cut and cooked. I ordered an Arabic coffee that was prepared fresh in front of me. Surprised I haven't written a review for this place yet! I've been a huge fan of Achilles through the years going quite often even though it's a fair drive from where I live. New venture for the same owners and I've been going here for a while as well now. Just high class middle eastern/Mediterranean food all through. I have two or three dishes I typically have on rotation. Both their chicken shawarma and shish tawook are fire. Plate/normal wrap/damascus style, go for any and you cannot go wrong. The original chicken shawarma is what I prefer might be the best value for money. It was 6.99 before and it's now 8.99. I feel the portion of chicken in all three is pretty good. The chicken is always fresh, tender and nicely charred/grilled (for the shish tawook). Getting the shish tawook as a skewer is also a win! Sometimes after a workout if I want extra protein I get the skewer in addition to my wrap/plate. Oh and their garlic sauce/spread is the best out there. Resembles Achilles pretty much. Super thick/rich (if you're watching your fat, maybe not the most ideal). They also gave me falafel samples and lentil soup with chips samples a couple of times. The lentil soup with chips is definitely something you can share as a group of 2. I've yet to try their tacos because I thought for long they have a crispy shell. Seems to be good value for money especially on taco Tuesday's, three for the price of two. Sheer number of desserts on display is insane. It's tough to not get tempted to try them to be honest. They just look so good. I've consciously stayed away but I've tried them at Achilles in the last and they're very very good. Super friendly owners/store operators. I had been eyeing this place for a while and decided to order take out on a Saturday. The food took about 25 minutes to be prepared. My fiance said the workers were pleasant. My fiance ordered the Shish Tawook wrap and it had chicken, garlic yogurt, coleslaw, ketchup, and french fries in it. (Description from the website) The wrap had really good flavor. Eating everything with the beef made for such a satisfying bite. The baklava was also delicious, but very small. We didn't know the "regular" size would be soooo tiny, but still good! But the real star is the food: it is VERY authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. It's impossible to pick a single best dish because I have quite a few favorites across the menu! They offer a generous selection of options for both vegans and vegetarians, and for meat-eaters, all the meat is halal. Really makes you feel like a valued customer & gives a homey family feel. We ordered zaatar & cheese, Armenian sujuk, lamb wrap, and a side of their garlic sauce. Really loved the sujuk, and it went really well with the tahini dip; the sandwich showcased really unique flavors, and wasn't too oily or heavy. Was not a big fan of the lamb wrap.. could have been just that batch, but the lamb was too gamey for my taste, and I like lamb! Would try another meat the next time. The zaatar & cheese was also only okay, was neither here nor there. The garlic sauce though. That garlic sauce was soooooo good. Honestly, I'd go back just for that. It's a must order!! This has been my new fav when it comes to Lebanese food lately. Their hummus is to die for... so creamy and flavor food.. I also order extra toum (garlic dip) from here which I find to be decent too. It's not that strong in flavor so many people can enjoy that. I enjoy their chicken wraps a lot .. it's got a lot of good flavor n is delicious. I have not tried their plates but wraps have always done it for me. The service is very quick so I tend to get what I ordered rather quickly. THere was a decent amount of people coming in and still enough seating for everyone. The Damascus chicken wrap is juicy and perfectly seasoned! the labneh with olives and tomatoes is rich and smooth. the babaganoush has a wonderful smoky depth. The fresh fries are crisp and seasoned with an amazing flavor, especially delicious when dipped in their creamy, garlicky sauce (comes with the wrap). For those who like a little spice, the hot sauce at the counter adds a great kick. As a bonus, they were giving out free lemons from their backyard, a small but thoughtful touch! The service is extremely friendly and the relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy your meal. The counter is stocked with plastic utensils, paper plates, napkins, etc. This is a must visit place! Before getting into the food, let me just say that the service here is SO friendly. You can feel the love and passion that goes into operating this restaurant. The staff are kind, patient, and generous. The ambience is casual and the decor is cute, without being over the top / kitschy. You have the option of inside and outside seating and there was plenty of space when we visited on a Friday evening (7/26/2024). Now the most important stuff; the food. Not pictured here is the falafel. They're made fresh to order, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with tahini to drizzle on top. The tahini is a bit thin for my liking but it makes it easy to dip and pour. (4/5) The Armenian sujuk is flavorful and perfectly spiced. It's served made with ground beef, marinated 'Armenian spices' and paired with sliced tomatoes and pickles inside of a toasted French roll bread. I've never had sujuk in this form, especially not a panini style sandwich, but it works well. It's served with a side of fries which were a little TOO greasy but a little dapping with a napkin took care of that. The sandwich is a 10/10, and the fries 7/10. The chicken shawarma was absolutely delicious. It's made with dark and white meat cooked on the rotisserie and wrapped in the traditional Lebanese bread (think of a thin pita) with garlic spread, pickles and a light drizzle of pomegranate molasses. The bread is toasted on the rotisserie to give it an extra charred and roasted flavor and the condiments and sauces work well together to make this a crushable and mouthwatering sandwich. You could easily order two of them if you were hungry enough. The 'spicy sauce' didn't seem to go with anything. It reminded me of salsa verde and tasted more akin to Mexican cuisine than Mediterranean. It would probably be great on the tacos on the menu but it didn't work with what we ordered. I was expecting a sauce closer to Harissa. Despite my nit-picky critiques, I still give this spot an overall 5/5 because a 4 doesn't do it justice. I'm excited to visit again to try some of their other menu items and maybe some of those Turkish delights! read more
