Can't believe I haven't written a review for Iraklis yet! I've tried quite a number of things on the menu, and have thourugly liked just about everything! My favorites include the shawarma lamb wrap damascus style, falafel tacos, the original chicken shawarma wrap, and of course the pickles and toum. I also really enjoyed the Fatteh. You can't really go wrong with anything here, it's just about what your personal favorites are. The owners are so kind and friendly, always chatting with everyone in the restaurant, they create a very warm and welcoming environment, and you can tell they really care about what they do.

This is a solid chicken shawarma wrap, lots of meat and tasty home made pickles which provide well-balanced acidity. The wrap also comes with a garlic sauce, which I recommend asking for extra of, and a little bit of pomegranate molasses. The molasses is a unique touch, but I had mixed feelings about it. Finally, definitely go for the chili paste if they offer it to you. It's hot and adds a lot of dimension to the experience. I took my food to go but I recommend dining in. The restaurant is well decorated with lots of clean tables to sit it, or outdoor dining. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.

Good but I think there are better options. Garlic sauce needed more garlic flavor in my opinion. Portions are pretty big. Salad was fresh and I like how it wasn't drenched in dressing

Iraklis did not dissappoint. Good food and good service. The employees were friendly and efficient. The food was made of fresh ingredients and with a nice presentation. They also have a fresh pastry case cut to order. I also ordered Turkish coffee, and it was amazing. This casual restaurant was clean and comfortable.

Four and half stars. I really love Middle Eastern food and all the shawarma videos I've seen on Youtube and how. Alot of people have said that the Syrian version is the best I know I needed to try it. Behold Iraklis ended up being only five minutes from my house. I remember that this place used to be so many other restaurants, and now has been replaced by this great place. You know the food is going to be good when the owner or manager comes out to ask you how the food is to each costumer. I felt that warmth for sure. As for the food it was very delicious the stand out was of course was rmthe shawarma I got chicken which came with the pomegranate molasses, which was good, but maybe next time I can ask for a little less because I do want to also try the chicken flavor itself, which is why I also for the chicken kakbab on the side to which was very well seasoned and delicious. The pickles and hummus on the side for both plates are a very nice touch they help cut some of the richness down. The fries are the underrated gem also. The way they are fried and cooked here, I think they do fresh batches every time, that is the vibe I get with this place. The hibiscus juice was also really refreshing to drink. It's a small place but most of the tables were all seated by people, and people were coming in and ordering to go, so you know it's good! Definitely give this place a try!

Tried Iraklis today after a friend highly recommended it! It's a fast casual middle eastern restaurant on El Camino, that's home to a bunch of other really good spots. We were greeted by the owner of the restaurant who was working the register while also serving customers. He was very warm and welcoming, ready to answer our questions or help us make decisions on what to order. I got the lamb shawarma plate that comes on a bed of rice, side of hummus, salad and pickled radish for $17.99. Price wise I felt that this was a good chunk of food for your buck. The flavor of the lamb was nothing super crazy it has a blend of sweet and savory from the pomegranate glaze. I would come back to try their other dishes and the manakesh looked pretty appetizing!

We were both craving Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food. We decided to eat at IRAKLIS. They have a variety of Lebanese, Syrian and Armenian cuisine. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Daii, when we walked in. He is so nice and welcoming. You place your order at the counter and take a number. Then your food is delivered to you. There are about 6 or so tables inside for dining in. I decided to try the falafel plate and my husband ordered the chicken shawarma plate. We also ordered the sujuk and cheese manakish. Our food was delivered to us very quickly. The sujuk and cheese manakish was so delicious. Sujuk is an Armenian sausage made with lots of spices. It's really delicious and worked so well with the melted cheese on the flatbread. My felafel tasted great but the exterior was hard. I think it got fried a little too long. The middle was nice and soft. It tasted good with the tahini sauce and pickled turnips. The hummus is amazing here. They make that fresh on site. It also came with a nice salad with tomatoes, lettuce and cucumber and a spiced rice. The rice is delicious and tastes like there is a bit of all spice in it. My husband's chicken shawarma plate was good the chicken was a bit dry but worked well with the garlic sauce it came with. The chicken had great flavor, it was just overcooked. He enjoyed the rice and salad as well. We will definitely be back. I'd like to try the Damascus style Shawarma wrap next time. A big thank you to Daii for his kindness. I really enjoyed chatting with him.

Delicious and authentic Syrian food! Service was wonderful with the most friendly staff! She explained what certain items were with enthusiasm and pride. Food was plentiful! The decor was fun, lively, and colorful.

Came here with my fiancé on a Saturday night around 10pm and Iraklis was fairly busy. The atmosphere was lively yet still relaxing and comfortable, with a decent amount of indoor seating. It's located in a large plaza, which made parking easy and stress-free. We were greeted right away by the server at the counter, who was friendly, patient, and helpful with recommendations. We ordered: Chicken Damascus Style Wrap: Super flavorful and delicious. The wrap comes with fries, tzatziki sauce, and pickles, and I loved that it was pre-cut, which made it easy to eat. 5/5 Mansaf: The rice was soft and tender, and I enjoyed the added crunch from the almonds. However, the lamb was a bit too gamey for my taste, and the butter yogurt sauce was quite rich and slightly more sour. 3/5 Turkish Delight: An absolute delight! We ordered the pomegranate flavor and it was fantastic. Great chewy texture and the fruity pomegranate flavor really stood out. I would definitely order this again. 5/5 Overall, we had a solid experience, and despite a few mixed notes, the welcoming service and standout dishes make this a spot worth checking out.

Iraklis is located in a shopping center that shares a parking lot with several other businesses - some restaurants, some retail. Parking towards one side of the center can get packed - the lines are small and tight which makes parking a hassle. Thankfully, Iraklis is located on the side that has much more space and less people tend to park this far out. This is my 2nd time here. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and a turkish delight for dessert. Service was quick and friendly and I had my food in about 10 minutes. The decorations inside was cute - flower vines and whimsical items hanging from the ceiling. Overall, a place I'd like to sit and enjoy some time - but not this time as I was on a time crunch. I used to live in this area and am sad I never knew about this place until I moved. But, now I know I can come here for good food if I'm ever in the area!

Been hearing a lot about this place so wanted to check it out. The lamb is definitely popular and flavorful here (I don't eat lamb much but my partner said it was very tender and full of spice). The chicken is good, but could have some more flavor. The additions and fillings in the wrap do make it come all together though. The place is pretty small with limited seating, it looks like most folks take their food to go. Not pictured is a baklava we had for dessert which was delishhhh.

The young lady at the register may want to brush up on her customer service skills. I ordered the falafel which was more heavy on the salt than expected. I love falafel and I love salt, but these were a bit difficult to eat. The pita was also tough and almost hard to chew. It felt like when you microwave something for too long so it turns rubbery. Everything else was good, though. I loved the labaneh and baba ghanoush.

Got the chicken wrap with fries. The fries were super fresh and perfectly salted. The wrap was more crispier and heavier than anticipated, but still tasted great.

I took no pictures because I was eating in the car and just dove in, but it was well-wrapped for the journey. I was kicking myself after leaving for not remembering to ask for no onion, only to discover that, thankfully, they didn't put raw onion on it! I was delighted, and this may be the best chicken shawarma I've ever had. The meat was flavorful and plentiful for a small order, and to my utter joy there were strips of pickle tucked in with the meat! It was such a delicious mouthful that I was really wishing I'd gotten the full size after all! It's better that I didn't, and now I can't wait to go back again and try more things, like the shawarma fries! Parking can be difficult so be prepared to hunt and maybe walk a bit. The staff was all woman and while they weren't chatty, they were all diligently doing prep, which is necessary. I honestly can't wait for the chance to come back soon!

First off, parking is a pain, but not unusual for places in this area. And the place, it's sort of a hole in the wall. As a general fan of holes in the wall, didn't bother me, but if you need a place to be spotless and comfortable, maybe not for you. 3 of us, so got the chicken wrap, lamb/beef wrap and lamb/beef arabi style. The best thing was the fries. Perfectly fried and seasoned. The wraps were good. The chicken had a ton of cinnamon, where even my son who loves it was saying, "that's a lot of cinnamon". The lamb/beef was good. Both wraps were big, well built, had great meat to veg to sauce ratio throughout and did not come across too dry like other places. Ask for the spicy sauce. The drinks were interesting. My wife got one of the Freez drinks, which she said was ok. I got a Vimto which had artificial sweeteners in it, which I hate. Serves me right for having a "when in Rome" attitude and not reading the can. Overall, it was good, but would I drive over to go again, probably not. To me, it didn't live up to the hype (3.5 stars and I rounded up), and didn't really set itself apart from other places that are a little cheaper, or more expensive places that are a little better.

These days it's always at the front of my mind that food spots that call themselves "Middle Eastern" or "Mediterranean" truly divulge who is the owner and chefs are. I'm talking about only eating from restaurants that can name the country their food comes from be it Falasteen, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the list goes on. Holyland is located in the industrial part of Santa Clara, and they boast lots of interior seating (great for large parties and group meals) and also run a catering service. So there's loads of parking and plenty of space. My friend and I were hungry, so I got the lamb kofta and he had the beef plates. We were SO happy. It comes with a light tangy salad, delicious hummus with a kick of spice, a bed of delicious yellow rice and slender pita bread. They also have serve-yourself hot cardamom tea which is so delicious and perfect. They also serve a bunch of other refrigerated drinks like Salaam Cola and kefir. The mezze plate with x4 different dips looks so yummy, I would get that next time with a large group to share. Will definitely head back with a larger group. We saw other diners from couples, to solo to large families eating. The interior could use some sprucing up, but the quality of the food, staff, and authenticity of the place is #1. Delicious. Freedom for the Holyland Five and liberation for all of Palestine!

Meyhouse Sunnyvale -- Excellent Food, but the Service Pacing Could Be Much Better…read more I tried the $44.95 three-course prix fixe lunch and chose the Köpoğlu as my meze, upgraded the main to the Adana Kebab for $3, and added the Künefe for $2. The food was the strongest part of the experience, and several things stood out more than I expected. The complimentary bread was excellent--warm, fragrant, and nicely textured. I also really enjoyed the green herb sauce served with it. The parsley and mint flavors were quite pronounced, almost grassy, but in a good way. It was fresh and aromatic and worked very well with the bread. The Köpoğlu was one of the highlights of the meal. The roasted eggplant, tomato sauce, garlic yogurt, and olive oil were very well balanced. I especially liked the garlic yogurt--the acidity, garlic, and creaminess were all present without any one element overpowering the others. The tomato added sweetness and acidity, while the olive oil rounded everything out. It was especially good with the bread. The Adana Kebab was also very good. My first bite came from the end of the skewer and was slightly dry, but once I got into the center, the meat was noticeably juicier. The char from the grill was excellent, and the lamb had a clear lamb flavor without being gamey. The chopped red pepper mixed into the meat also added another layer of aroma and flavor. Even the rice surprised me. It looked like plain white rice, but it was flavorful enough to eat on its own, with a noticeable buttery, almost milky aroma. The flatbread underneath the kebab was also very good after soaking up some of the lamb juices and fat. If I had one criticism of the main plate itself, it would be the proportion of onion-tomato salad to meat. The salad tasted fine, but for my preference, there was a little too much of it. I really enjoy the lingering flavor of grilled lamb, and while the rice and bread help carry that flavor, the raw onion and tomato act as a strong palate cleanser and erase it quickly. Since the meat portion was relatively small compared with the rice and salad, I would personally prefer a little more kebab and a little less salad. The Künefe was another highlight. I really enjoyed the contrast between the crispy kadayıf on the outside and the soft, warm cheese inside. The pistachios on top were not something I particularly enjoyed by themselves, but mixed together with the cheese, syrup, and crispy pastry, they made much more sense. The first few bites, especially the areas that had not absorbed too much syrup, were excellent. Toward the center it became a little sweeter than I prefer, but overall I still liked it very much. Food-wise, I would actually give Meyhouse a slight edge over Dishdash. There were more layers and more small details to notice throughout the meal, from the bread and herb sauce to the Köpoğlu, Adana, rice, flatbread, and dessert. The service, however, did not match the level of the food. The restaurant was quite quiet at lunch, but the pacing was surprisingly rushed. I had barely started eating the Köpoğlu when the main course arrived. For a menu specifically presented as a three-course prix fixe, I expected the courses to be paced more deliberately. Instead, I had to choose between continuing to enjoy the appetizer and eating the kebab while it was still hot. There was also an issue with clearing the table. One staff member who was not the person taking my order repeatedly tried to remove my bread and the green herb sauce. The first time, I specifically asked him to leave the sauce. Later, after I finished the main course, he came back and again started clearing both without asking. I told him I wanted the bread to go, so he left the bread, but still removed the herb sauce. It was a small detail, but it made the service feel mechanical rather than attentive to what the guest had already requested. Overall, I would rate the food around 8.5/10 and the service around 6.5-7/10. Meyhouse is a little more expensive than Dishdash, but the prix fixe lunch is also very substantial. I only ate about half of the complimentary bread, and I was already quite full after the main course. Finishing the Künefe left me completely stuffed, so the portion size is definitely generous. I would still come back. Next time, I would probably try the Ahtapot, especially since it is only a $9 upgrade on the prix fixe compared with $25 à la carte. The food gives me a reason to return; I just hope the pacing and attention to small service details are better next time.

After trying baklava at many restaurants around San Jose, I regard Gulzaar Halaal's as my personal favorite. Crispy layers, firm yet chewy bottom, and never stale. Perfect balance of sweet, nutty and spiced. My favorite dessert though has to be Kanafeh. Soft-ish, melty sweet cheese (with rose water, I think?). Ask for it warmed. I've always felt relaxed when eating in the restaurant. Tables are frequently cleaned. The owner is very attentive, making sure customers are happy with everything. Their interactions with people are always very respectful and kind. Last but not least, the bathroom is clean, neat and tidy.

Firstly, the fact that you get an unlimited supply of Pita and Zeit / Zaatar oil alone makes it feel like home. Very similarly, my Siti (grandma) always has us well fed right from the start, maybe over fed, but that's besides the point and very connected to our culture, you won't go hungry. But be careful not to fill up solely on bread, plus you can use your bread to soak up all the sauces later on. My absolute favorite dish is the Mansaf which is a creamy yogurt based lamb and rice dish. The meat comes out veryyy tender and when you mix it all together with the sauce and rice, it's rich and decadent. It's a large portion and can feed 2-3 as a main if other bites are shared. Bites I recommend- the Falafel, Kibbeh and Hummus as starters. The staff was very attentive and friendly, making sure we were rightfully fed, had drinks refilled constantly, we felt taken care of. They play lots of upbeat old school Arabic music that reminds me of my childhood. Check out Nancy Ajram if you haven't heard her music.

We asked to be seated outside on a Thursday and they said they were all reserved already when no one was outside so thought that was weird. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAtmosphere: 5/5 This was yummy! We got: - dolmades mezes starter: it was warm and had beef in it which was unexpected -- I'm almost certain we had a different version of these before that did not have meat and were served cold, I have never really loved these lol but my partner has really enjoyed the cold version before because he found it really refreshing. The warm one was interesting, still enjoyable to him but not as much as before - beef souvlaki plate with fries instead of salad: I loved this! I asked for no lettuce, and the server said I could switch out the salad for fries instead. The beef was so tender and flavored well, super savory, and I absolutely LOVE the olive dip that comes with this dish. The fries were okay! I enjoyed dipping them into the olive dip. - swordfish souvlaki wrap no lettuce with fruit: option to get fries instead, but we got fruit. My mom liked it! I tried some of the swordfish and it had a nice light flavor, quite tender and very nice. I've also gotten the grilled branzini before, which is a whole entire fish. Warning that you may need to use your hands to eat this directly lol I really enjoyed this dish too! When we arrived, they mentioned we could sit anywhere we wanted. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors so it was a tad warm but they provide shade. There is a tent as well with a plastic surrounding but as for any restaurant with these plastic surroundings, I always find the plastic smell so strong and offputting, so we sat at the tables instead where they have umbrellas providing a lot of shade. We sat next to a bougainvillea bush which also provides us shade and some entertainment as little birds hopped back and forth inside the bush and then out of it to nearby tables, looking for food. So cute! Parking can be found in the lot behind the restaurant, but the entrance is still found around the other side of the building, on the side of the outdoor seating. You can also park on the side of the street in front of the restaurant, but there's less shade. We arrived at a 3pm on a Friday with almost no one else there, so once our whole party was present we got service immediately. The food takes some time to cook but as mentioned, it's delicious. Overall a really cute restaurant!
