Irene is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely patio by the water. The weather that day was too cold, so I ate inside. I ordered the fish tacos and brussel sprouts. The fish tacos were delicious with a burst of flavour in every bite. The brussel sprouts had a ton a cheese and they were also very tasty. However, the waiter specifically asked me whether I wanted both dishes at the same time or if I wanted the brussel sprouts first. I asked for the brussel sprouts first, but the tacos were given to me first. Also, it was happy hour and the waitress gave me the wrong bill without the happy hour discount, which was an inconvenience. Overall, the food was great, but the service could have been better.

My colleagues and I was at Irene like 10 months ago and we had a blast. The Tuna Niçoise salad was a HIT - fresh, zesty, tuna perfection. And the Smash Burger? Juicy patty, crispy bun, with truffles fries. It was delicious :-) Portions were GOOD size and prices felt super reasonable. Staff were super friendly, made the whole vibe chill and enjoyable. Definitely a go to spot for a crew dinner or catch-up.

We came to Irene to enjoy the patio weather, which was perfect because Irene's patio had a really nice view and ambiance right by the water. The food turned out to be very good, which was the ultimate cherry on top. Service was attentive (despite seemingly being short-staffed) and they were able to customize our orders (down the timing correctly) which showed great attention to detail and flawless execution. We really enjoyed the view of the waterfront - you can watch ships sail by in a nice relaxing atmosphere. The music at the patio was also at the 'just right' level - upbeat in the background, without being too loud. Review of the dishes: 1) Cocktail Shrimps (poached jumbo shrimps with cocktail sauce) - Cocktail shrimps are one of my favourite hors d'oeuvres at parties, but I was used to the small bite-size (the ones you get in a ring from supermarkets). So we were impressed at the size of the shrimps here. The cocktail sauce was nice too. This was great as an appetizer / shareable dish. 2) Lettuce Wraps (with cucumber kimchi, coriander, and citrus aioli) - They used Boston lettuce as the outer wraps (which made them sturdy and easy to hold), and I liked that they included cucumber slices for extra crunch in the wraps. The kimchi wasn't too spicy. 3) Chopped Salad (shredded kale, romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, grapes, cucumber, red bell pepper, crispy chickpeas, parsley, mint, za'atar, hummus, and grainy mustard vinaigrette) - LOVED this salad, especially the mix of kale and crispy chickpeas. I'm a sucker for salads with lots of ingredients and textures, and this one fit the bill. The dressing (grainy mustard vinaigrette) was pretty good too (I'm a fan of mustard). 4) Pan-Roasted Salmon (with cauliflower purée, green beans, roasted fennel, and basil pesto) - Another great dish. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the cauliflower purée that came with it was very flavourful (without being guilty eating it because technically it was vegetable). 5) Sesame-Crusted Tuna (with miso glaze, vermicelli, and mixed vegetables) - I liked the texture of the tuna, the sesame crust, and the Asian spin of this dish (with the miso glaze, vermicelli noodles, and vegetables typically used in Asian dishes). The mixed vegetables consisted of bok choy, shimeji mushrooms (loved the extra chewiness), red onion, and sliced red & orange bell peppers. Amazing food, great ambiance, excellent patio and amosphere - it's the perfect place to be during outdoor patio season.

I went to Irene Saturday night for dinner and drinks. We had a reservation on the patio, so we were seated right away. The patio is large with tons of seating, and overlooks Toronto's waterfront; the views are magnificent. However, I found the food mediocre, at best. My partner ordered the chicken sandwich, and found it very dry. I thought the Ahi Tuna Tartar was too salty. I also ordered an Irene Spritz which contains aperol, rosé prosecco, and dry vermouth. It tasted like fruit juice, not an alcoholic beverage. The service was not good; on multiple occasions we had to ask our waitress for water refills because she forgot about our initial ask 15 minutes prior. I also had to physically get up and track her down for the bill, as she had not attended to our table for half an hour. I won't be back.

Came with a group of 15 people and the staff was very accommodating and kind. We had a variety of food and drinks and all were so tasty! I love that their menu (drinks & food) had variety. That's what really sold me. Great location in the summer with the view of the water. Kuddos to Evelyn, Tristan & Vincenso

Awesome atmosphere to dine with almost everyone! The establishment has bar tables and regular dinning tables, which makes it suitable for even families with kids! Parking is available in the same building for additional cost. I'd prob skip the order of bread next time, but the Salmon Benedict was delightful!

A bit off the beaten trail, there is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. We chose indoors as it was rather windy and blistery outside. The wait staff were attentive, although a little on the slow side. I will admit to it being a downtime part of the day in the afternoon, but still. We saw our two drinks sit on the counter for over ten minutes while the staff stood around. Finally, someone noticed, not our waiter, and brought them over. Our meals, however, came in record time, very different from the drinks. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, and it was excellent. Just the right amount of flavor and spice on a bed of rice and a shredded salad. I thought the meal was great. The prices were very good, and I thought the place had a nice location on the waterfront. Yet, seriously, it's not convenient.

Bright restaurant with ample lake view. Entrees were incredible, but mains were just ok. Dessert (chocolate cake) was amazing and not overwhelmingly sweet. Service was attentive and fast . Netflix choices for the tv were questionable hahaha

This restaurant is a casual fine dining type of restaurant. It is located in the Corus building right at the Toronto Harbour shoreline; hence great views, while seating indoors or outdoors. Typical entrees range from $25 to $35. The vube is tastefully elegant. There is a long bar with bar seating. I ordered the following: 1. Nasi Goreng ($19). Indonesian sweet & savory rice, green peas, corn, carrots, Napa cabbage  sambal, coconut raita, and fried egg. 2. Baked Alaksa ($12). Strawberry + lemon ice cream, meringue. The service was attentive and excellent. The Nasi Goreng was delicious. The sambal is on the side as it should be because it is spicy; you can mix it as you wish. It was strange that it came with a coconut raita because that is found more in Indian dishes. Also, they had fried vermicelli noodles instead of shrimp chips. I didn't get a running egg yolk video because, as usual, my camera enjoys the food too much and takes a long time, so the yolk became harder. Yes, blame my camera for wanting to eat first! For the Baked Alaska, the strawberry and lemon ice cream was a great combination! I usually don't order lemon ice cream, but I'm glad I gave it a try. The meringue was torched lightly so that there was a nice light brown layer. The meringue was sweet, which is how I like it. If you purchase the Irene Smash Cheeseburger ($21), a portion of the net proceeds goes towards feeding members of the local community in need. The organization is called Feed Scarborough. All the booth seating has a hook for you to hook clothing or bags. There is music playing in the background, but as more guests arrive, they turn it louder. This is to allow you to hear your table spak but not other tables. There is an ATM by the washrooms, just in case your credit card runs out of money. Just kidding ... maybe. Even the man's washroom has a baby change table ... how modern of them. This restaurant used to be called "Against The Grain". New management and staff were hired (after the pandemic), and the entire restaurant was renovated. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms, and they are both wheelchair accessible. There is a paid parking garage. There are high chairs for little children. Review 2023-124

The patio views at sunset were incredible! Nice outdoor patio with sofa seating or regular table seating. Service was a bit slow, but we enjoyed our time regardless. The food was great! Salmon poke bowls were perfect and other dishes got great reviews from the group.

A VERY pleasant surprise. Not only is the view great but the food was phenomenal. Started with the kimchi steak tartare, lots of interesting flavors and worked very well with the taro chips. The short ribs, though, were phenomenal. Tender, not too fatty, and a.pick the plate flavor. Really enjoyed my meal.

When you arrive you have the option to sit on the first floor or upstairs on the rooftop bar. I believe this is the only multi-level Cactus Club Cafe I've ever been to. We opted for the rooftop bar which had a high energy, upscale, and stylish vibe to it. We ended up sitting at the bar as it was very crowded. I ordered a frozen Aperol Spritz which was excellent and I could drink a few of these. For food we ordered a burger and fries which was good but nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a late night spot for drinks and food the Cactus Club Cafe is a solid choice.

The place SEEMED quiet but shortly thereafter the place got JAMMED! Initially it was slow service but it picked up shortly. We had several different servers so no single server is tagged here. I will say that it's a hip, nicely equipped restaurant. We decided to do an appie meal. We ordered Sichuan Chicken lettuce wraps ($25.50)..this was the best of the appies. The next was the Crab Dip ($20.75), it was hot but not overly tasty. 3rd was the Hot Chicken Bites with pickles ($16.00). They were ok but not hot in temp enough. The final was the Chili Citrus Calamari ($21.25). This was the worse of the dishes. Simply put, it was cold. The server removed this from our bill. In summary...I wouldn't go out of my way again to go here but given all things being equal, the servers were very good. As a final note...the bathroom was very clean & well maintained.

The food was incredible- one our tastebuds won't forget! Our group of 5 started with fresh sushi and sashimi, table side Caesar salad and the softest brioche served with sun-dried tomato butter that was perfect in every way. Main course: Australian wagyu ribeye that we didn't even have to chew plus a strip loin and beef Wellington (which was maybe the only thing I don't need to order again, but still delicious). All the sides were amazing and finally sticky toffee pudding and butter cake to put us in a complete food coma. Wouldn't change a thing about this meal. We cannot thank you enough Tyler (and Toronto!!)!

I found myself wanting to try most of the cocktails, which is a rarity. We got the Strawberry Tetsu to start (inspired by Uncle Tetsu's Japanese cheesecake), along with the Cloudy Oolong (tea-based cocktail with a salted caramel cheese foam). The Strawberry Tetsu tasted like a dessert and was delicious, with a graham cracker crumble rim. The Cloudy Oolong had a strong tea taste which I loved, as sometimes the tea can get lost in a cocktail. The foam on top was addicting and paired nicely with it, similar to a bubble tea. Next, I had the Burnt Yuzu which was light and refreshing from the citrus. The bar is hidden behind Misfit Ice Cream, with a speakeasy vibe to the interior. We walked up to an unassuming entrance that is part of the experience, and once inside, the atmosphere shifts completely. The space is intimate and cozy with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed speakeasy vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a couple of drinks. The transition from the street to the interior feels deliberate, and the low-key energy of the room encourages lingering. The cocktail menu leans heavily into Asian-inspired flavors, and that is what makes it stand out. Every drink feels thoughtfully developed rather than relying on presentation alone. We tried the Cloudy Oolong, which was especially memorable with its rich tea flavor and creamy cheese foam that added a savory depth to the cocktail. The Strawberry Tetsu offered a dessert-like profile without becoming overly sweet, balancing fruit and tea notes in a way that felt refined and well composed. Each cocktail arrived beautifully presented and balanced, making it easy to appreciate the amount of care that goes into every glass. The menu is creative without being gimmicky, and the flavors are well integrated, with each drink offering something distinct. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations if you are unsure what to order. They guided us through the flavor profiles and offered thoughtful suggestions based on our preferences. Service felt attentive without being overbearing, and the overall pace made it a great place to relax rather than rush through a drink. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the experience feeling personal and unhurried. If you are looking for a cocktail bar that offers something different from the usual classics, After Seven delivers a memorable experience. Between the hidden entrance, intimate setting, and creative drinks, it is the kind of place that is easy to recommend whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for one of Toronto's more unique bars. The balance of atmosphere, craftsmanship, and service makes it a standout in the city's cocktail scene.

Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
