They were able to seat us super quickly even though there was reservations coming in as well. They have an extensive drink menu and some awesome Hispanic beers on tap. The music and the ambiance really made the meal great. We ordered a few different things off of the menu but the Salmon was by far the best! We finished off our meal with some French press coffee that hit the spot. My only qualm was the waitress only checked on us once besides us ordering our drinks and food. Came in spontaneously while taking a drive and sat at the bar for a drink and some food. Ordered off of the brunch menu which was the only menu available at that time (a Saturday around 2pm). The bartender is a true mixologist.. he knows his stuff! And he couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. He advised me on a drink (The Montgomery) which was fabulous. You can tell the care he put into making it. Light and refreshing with a garnish of peppercorn.. it was a perfect combination of flavors. Smoked Salmon Tostadas were very good as well.. very fresh and with a huge pile of smoked salmon on top. It was light yet satisfying. Really cool decor in the restaurant. Good food; slow service. We had the scallops, crab cakes, bacon-wrapped shrimp, the artichoke hearts (the best of the four.) Then, as the restaurant filled up, we ordered two empanadas (large and mediocre) and patatas bravas. These took forever to receive. The cooks seemingly overwhelmed and our waiter said the kitchen had "lost the order." He was nice but and did offer a free dessert - to go - as our dinner hit 1:45, but we had had enough. I believe it's important to create a relationship with the customer... that's a great way to create return customers. Not much in way of vegetarian meals in the menu, and didn't see anything Vegan. The menu isn't too busy and easy to choose from. Cost to done was fair, reasonable, and not overpriced. Presentation of the meal was on point! That's always a good thing for me. Place is really unassuming from the outside. Kinda looks likes it's closed, or small, but is actually a fairly large place that has a nice decor and setup. We came here on a snowy Sunday afternoon and it busy and had a vibrant vibe. The pancakes were good. My son raved about the Patas Bravas, a fave of his since we visited Madrid a few months ago. My Cuban sandwich was ok but kind on the dry side. The $16 hummus and falafel platter that was a miss. The falafels were dry and had a picklish flavor and the falafels fell apart easily. Now lets talk about the issue: The Service. About two weeks ago I went for a Sunday brunch with my longtime coworker turned friend, Rob. I spent the week leading up to the brunch building up how great the restaurant was. What was meant to be a sweet brunch, quickly turned sour....We were assigned an, older looking, young adult with a beard and pony tail who made sure we had an absolutely terrible time! We had a couple of mistakes with our food (typically no big deal, mistakes happen, we are all human!!), and the waiter made us feel as though we were in the wrong and raising an issue for requesting our food. The side of potatoes come with an aioli sauce on top, I requested the sauce to be on the side, when they came out with the sauce on top and I asked for it to be on the side, the waiter had said "I don't think thats how its said on the menu". I froze, embarrassed, angry, tears began to well in my eyes. Luckily my longtime coworker turned friend, Rob stepped up and helped the situation. The wait staff were all very kind and extremely attentive , but the manager with short blonde hair is horrible . She yelled at her staff because they had not taken our order yet even though we told her we were simply waiting on our appetizers first . I would like to preface this review by saying that I have eaten at plenty of tapas locations all around the NY Tri-State area, because tapas restaurants are one of my favorite places to eat. I came to this restaurant because it is close to home and I wanted to support local restaurants. When I first entered the restaurant, I had to wait to be seated because there was no host/hostess by the door. Once we were seated, I asked for a passion fruit margarita. I was surprised by the price of the margarita, because the price was comparable to Manhattan prices, but this location is in northern Westchester. Personally, I do not think that the taste of the margarita justified the price that I had to pay. To eat, we ordered solely from the tapas menu. We ended up ordering the "Chorizo en Cazuela," the "Bacon-Wrapped Dates," the "Patatas Bravas," and the "Ceviche." The first thing that came out to the table was the ceviche. The ceviche was just okay, but it did come with a generous serving of tortilla chips. I do appreciate the serving size of the tortilla chips. The chorizo en cazuela were chunks of chorizo that were cooked in a type of red wine. I was excited to try this small plate because of the linguiça that I ate when I was in Portugal. However, I was disappointed with this small plate because the chorizo was extremely salty. Some saltiness would have been acceptable, but the chorizo was too salty for my liking and it detracted from me potentially liking the dish. The patatas bravas were tolerable. There was nothing that was memorable about these potatoes. It had the potential to be somewhat good, but because it was lacking in flavor, it was just decent and tolerable. The best thing that I ate from what I ordered were the bacon-wrapped dates. This dish is typically my favorite thing to eat at tapas restaurants because it combines the flavors of bacon, with the sweetness of dates. The dates here, at Iron Vine, were good, but middle-of-the-road when I compare the dates to the ones that I have eaten at other locations. The thing about these dates is that the bacon that was used was just too salty. I understand that bacon is typically on the saltier side, but the bacon that was used here was just way too salty. Overall, I appreciate that there is a Spanish tapas location in Peekskill that is convenient, however, this place is too overpriced for the experience that is offered. It would have been nice to have been acknowledged by the staff within the first minute of walking into the establishment and the food here lacks flavor and is generally too salty for my liking. read more

There are very few places that I feel comfortable in, other than my home and Iron Vine has the whole package. Wrapping up with work in Newburgh on a Sunday late afternoon, we gradually headed down to one of my Bookmarked locations for early dinner. We were greeted and seated in a flash. Much of their cozy vibe comes from rustic/old-world style of raw brick, wooden slab walls and black metal details. Iron Vine is small, and in my opinion, there's a lot of comfort found in this dimly lit restaurant which they pulled off real nice. Menu has typical "Spanish" Tapas, such as 'Gambas Al Ajillo' (Garlic Shrimp) or 'Boquerones' (Spanish Sardines) and the rest of their Menu has a nice fusion of Colombian, Cuban, Middle Eastern, Dominican and Jamaican ingredients. Our Spanish Sardine with Crostini starter, was tasty. My Norwegian Salmon with pork-less Mofongo and the garlickiest Sautéed spinach entrée, was fantastically made to perfection as I also, requested it to be prepared without the Dijon Mustard sauce. And according to The Man, his Pork Chop with yellow rice and a side of Black Beans, was cooked nicely. One flaw, was that although food was seasoned well, it was salty- perhaps the chef could dial the salt shaker back a bit next time. I enjoy my Martinis, and Iron Vine moves away from the monotonous. Excellent Cocktail Menu (of about 10) and was very impressed with the ones offered in this little treasure. Ingredients, combinations and that end result, made for two fabulous drinks that were expertly done. Definitely will return for dinner and Brunch! My co-worker recommended this spot to me about a year and a half ago. I finally decided to try it out last week; Meter parking is available on the street, and it ends after 6 P.M. The service was very good. The staff was friendly, and suggested good choices on the menu. We enjoyed the Calamari salad, and it came with a big portion. I have eaten bacon wrapped scallops plenty of times, but this was the first time eating bacon wrapped shrimp. I didn't know it could be made like that. I enjoyed that as an appetizer. The Pernil, and the Salmon are excellent choices for dinner. The only thing that was nasty was their water. I don't know what was up with that.
